Jaycee's POV
Because of Edward's fast driving, we arrive at the Cullen's about three minutes after leaving. Paul is waiting for me in the driveway, looking uncomfortable as hell.
I jump out of the car, and walk over to him, "Thanks for coming, Paul." I say, and send him a smile. He scoffs, "You're lucky I like you." I nod, "I know, I know." Jasper appears by our side, and sends Paul a strained smile, "Come on in." I grab his hand, and try drag him after me while, again, he just grunts.
He purposefully waits until everyone is inside, and then shifts on his feet, "Jaycee, Sam is sending Jacob." He informs me. "Why?" I demand. "Because he's your imprint and the elders don't think it's right for me to be here instead of him." I scoff, "That doesn't make any sense! You're one of my best friends." He shrugs, "They also think you should be back home, but Sam put his foot down on that one. You're gonna be stuck in Forks for a while. When Jacob shows up with your clothes and shit, my orders are to go back home." He says, before apologizing. "It's not your fault." I murmur.
"Just make a point to ignore the asshole." He says, referring to Jacob. "I'll try." I mutter. "Don't try, Jaycee, do. Don't even acknowledge his existence until he apologizes." I look up at him, "You obviously have never been in love." He laughs, "Is it that hard to tell?" I roll my eyes, and nudge him, "You're horrible, Lahote." He nudges me back, "I'm not kidding. As far as you're concerned, Jacob Black doesn't exist right now." I roll my eyes, and sit down on the steps. He sits down next to me, then grabs my wrist, "This happened yesterday?" He demands. I take a deep breath, "Yeah. I told him to let me go, and he didn't listen. I guess I should've included the fact that it hurt like hell." Paul frowns, and I just lean against him and close my eyes.
"You're sure you don't wanna go inside?" I ask. "Positive. Sorry. Your friends in there take more than a little getting used to." He says seriously. "Yeah, well I guess I won't be seeing you for a while." I murmur when my car comes up the driveway. "Have I ever told you how weird it looks when guys drive your car?" He muses, and laughs a little. I shove him over, "My car can be driven by both male and females, thank you very much!" I say, "Get out of here, Lahote!" He chuckles, and stands up, "Bye Jaycee."
Jacob emerges from the car, and Paul walks past him with a growl. Jacob growls back, and they exchange quiet words that, surprisingly, I can hear.
"Imprint or not," Paul snarls, "I swear to god, you even fucking think about hurting her again, it'll be your last thought! Those bruises should not be there! Stop fucking hurting her, Jacob!" Paul hisses, gesturing towards me. "Don't tell me what to do, Lahote!" Jacob growls back. "Once you stop hurting her, I'll stop trying!" Paul snarls, before walking away.
Jacob turns towards me, with two of my duffle bags in his hands. He smiles a little, and I cross my arms, and look away from him. "Are you ready to go inside?" He asks, standing on the steps. "Go home." I instruct, reaching for the first bag. He holds it out of my reach, "Not an option Jaycee." I cross my arms, "I'm your imprint, right? You're supposed to do what I want?" I demand. "If it's reasonable!" He scoffs back. "I want you to go home. I think it'll be safer then." I say, my voice cold. "Jaycee I've never meant to hurt you." He defends. "Well You have. And the time apart is needed, even if we're only friends after. This never changed the fact that we're no longer together. I need, like, maybe a couple eternities. " His face falls, "That's ridiculous." He says softly. "Look Jacob, I'm hurt, okay? Harm is already done. Just please, go home."
He walks past me, and puts the bags inside, before coming out again. He gives me a long glance, then, despite my flinching away, he gently caresses my face. He leans down and presses a tender kiss to my lips, and pulls away shortly after. Then, he walks away, and doesn't even look back.
I walk into the house, and slam the door after me. I slip off my shoes, and walk to the couch. I more so collapse than sit on the down, my knees pulled up to my chest. I lay my head on top of my knees, and let the hot tears flow down my cheeks.
"Was that really necessary?" I hear Bella ask. "Yes." I murmur, not in the mood for yelling at her. "Why?" I take a deep breath, "Like I said, the time apart is needed." She moves closer, "That broke his heart." She murmurs, as if she hasn't done it before. "It's only temporary." I snap, "And besides, I don't think you understand. He's only ever used his wolf to protect you. I still have horrifying nightmares about that part of him, okay? Do you know how hard it is to have a boyfriend, and only be able to love a half of him because you're terrified of the other? Do you know how ridiculous I feel sleeping in his arms so I don't have nightmares about him? It doesn't make any sense! We never have! I just need to evaluate what the hell our relationship is actually meant to be, okay? And I don't need your help, presence, advice, or comments! Just leave me the fuck alone!" She backs up, and as soon as she appeared, she disappears.
"I've seen it." I look up, and see Alice in a chair in front of me. "I've seen the love between you two. A bond is one thing, but the love built on it is a different thing." She says, with a gentle smile. "I know-I love him, he loves me, we're all happy." I mutter sarcastically.
"Relationships are about fighting through what life throws at you because of your love." Emmett says from next to me. I glare at him, "You too?" He shrugs, "I saw that kiss."
Rosalie suddenly appears, "The whole imprint bond thing just ensures he treats you right no matter what kind of relationship you end up having. With you two, its obvious you could be in a similar position right now-right now without the bond." I sigh, "This is not time to give me relationship advice! I don't have a fucking boyfriend anymore!" I shout.
"Just because you think it's right, leaving a relationship isn't alway the right option." Edward says, "Especially not based on high emotions." I growl at them, throwing my head back on the couch.
"You and Jacob will be fine. Relationships that are supposed to be happen eventually." Esme says from Carlisle's side.
Jasper saunters into the room, and sits down on the table in front of me. "Well?" I demand. He laughs, "I don't have anything to say." I point at him, "See? I like him! He's minding his own fucking business." I exclaim. "I said I had nothing to say, not that I wasn't listening." I take a deep breath, closing my eyes.
"Jacob and I no longer exist and it's for the better."
