AN: The big day has arrived; thought it would be interesting to get some of the guests' thoughts since it's the penultimate chapter. Sorry for the length.
Earth date, late March 2265 – evening, Shi'kahr Uzhar cultural centre
T'Nara – clan matriarch of Maat Kril'es chan
T'Nara concluded that Terrans had interesting wedding rituals. She watched baffled but intrigued as kinswoman S'y'ree'ah turned her back and threw the plant life she had carried all evening into the air for the unbonded females to capture. The holo programme the guests were given had an explanation for each ritual, since they were a diverse group from around the Federation. It seemed the unbonded female to be successful would be the next one to bond or wed; perhaps T'Anna of the K'st Kau should take heed since she now held the colourful item.
T'Nara considered it a privilege to be invited. The hand of reconciliation had been extended and accepted by Krie Salas and his adun'a, Lady T'Rachel. The elders of the Maat who had opposed their union had perished in the Va Pak. There were not many members of the Kril'es chan left. At last census, twenty members were identified. The clan members were never encouraged to migrate or even hold investments off world, as a result the clans' wealth and population were drastically reduced. Some were left credit less and owned only the clothes on their back when they escaped. Others, like herself, who lived on the Surak colony were comfortable enough to restart a new life on the new home world.
T'Nara was the oldest female member of the clan left, so it was logical to choose her as the new clan matriarch. At 85 years old she was young for a matriarch but kaiidth. The position had to be filled.
Ancient Vulcan had a saying – 'A growing clan denotes strength'. Perhaps it was time to suggest an alliance between the remnants of the Kril'es chan and the much larger K'st Kau. She would arrange to speak to Salas after the festivities had ended. Until then, it was time for her adun Sivik to collect more pecan flavoured, frozen almond cream, she believed it was called 'ice cream' for them to partake.
Fleet Admiral Nogura – Head of Starfleet
Who knew the Vulcans could put on a party, well Pike did say these Vulcans were not the norm. Lucky bastard being married to such a young thing, smart move as well, marrying one of their own. Plus having friends like Minister Selek on your side. Well after all Pike's been through he deserves to be happy. Cheers to you Pike, if you keep going at this rate I might just keep my seat warm for you when I retire.
Grell – Senior Executive Assistant to Lady Seria Maxwell-Pike
Grell had to remind himself this was a Terran/Vulcan wedding. Unlike a Tellarite joining ceremony there would be no parental competitive 'debates' on who paid the most for the ceremonies, even after the 'happy couple' left to consummate their union. And sadder still there would be no jump into a large vat of mud by the wedding party to symbolise fertility. The human tradition of throwing rice at the couple just did not compare. At least they still had dancing, well the Vulcans watched and everyone else danced and looked like they were having a good time. Grell was glad for his boss, she deserved to be happy after being dumped by the 'unseen one' as Gaila called her former suitor. Plus he believed Admiral Pike really loved her, he could not keep his eyes off her all evening. They looked so cute, dancing together in the middle of the hall. Well, time to grab Gaila and see how successful she was in her continued search for a threesome with a Vulcan.
Commander Stolek – Executive officer to Admiral Pike
Stolek was pleased that he chose to wear his clan's Vulcan robes for the ceremony and not his dress uniform. His adun'a T'Cara kept telling him through their bond how appealing he looked, and how much the robes reminded her of their own ceremony 1.3 years ago.
He had found the Terran/Vulcan wedding fascinating. Combining the two traditions with Vulcan bell ringers, the striking of the gong and the bride's clan matriarch appearing on her sedan followed by the clan attendants and the bride walking on her sa'mekh's arm dressed in ivory with a veil.
Afterwards the copious amounts of food and beverage, plus so many guests. It was logical that Admiral Pike's culture be represented in the ceremony since he was a very important Starfleet official and human. Also the bride was part human and in Stolek's opinion walked a well-balanced path representing her dual heritage.
Stolek cound sense unease from T'Cara that his thoughts drifted to another female. 'No one compares to you kidwa,' He sent.
'Then let us depart from here so you can physically demonstrate this information,' T'Cara responded.
Stolek did not need to be told twice.
Lt Gaila – Deputy Chief of Operations (expect her to be risque she is Orion after all)
Thank the goddess Clitora! Gaila wanted to sing on this happy, happy day, however when she asked the Admiral if she could sing at the reception the Orion love song 'My lust is an orgasmic wave' he sadly declined her offer. However he did make a request for a duet with her and Nyota accompanied by Commander Spock, an extremely old Earth song 'Georgia on my mind'. He said it was 'their song'. Despite Nyota's explaination Gaila still could not see the connection between a region in the Southern United States and romantic lust-love.
No matter how long she worked with Terrans she still found them very strange. At least she had Grell to be her cultural guide plus he was also great in bed. Maybe she would bind with him one day, perhaps after she fulfilled her dream of sex with a Vulcan male or female or even both at the same time. If she did and they all fell in lust love she could bind with all of them. She did love a good wedding, sadly Terran/Vulcan weddings never ended with a good old orgy, that was the only thing missing since the drinks, food and ceremony were enjoyable. If only the couples in the room could smell the pheromones they were giving off. Oh well, time to find Grell and celebrate Pike's union the proper way. A night of multiple orgasms was the best way to pay homage to her boss.
The Pike family
Jeffrey Pike, Helen Pike, their daughter Charlene (Charlie) Pike-Greenwood, her husband Jake plus their teenage daughters did not know what to expect when they were invited to their relative's wedding to a Vulcan female. At first the girls were the only ones excited since they were asked to be female attendants for their new aunt Seria. When Pike told his sister about his relationship she was concerned he was making a political move to please the Vulcan government. She wanted to meet this 'Seria' and check her out, tell her to back off if it meant keeping her brother from making a huge mistake.
However having spent two weeks on the colony prior to the wedding, being introduced to Seria's family and seeing how welcoming they were. Pike's family were convinced it was a love match. Also having Lt Gaila tell them she could sniff out a fake relationship and theirs was not fake was comforting as well.
Jeff and Jake decided they liked Seria's family even more when T'Anna promised regular supplies of Kau beer plus other produce. After all they were part of the clan according to Vulcan law so she had to take care of them.
The day was not as boring as they expected, in fact it was not boring at all. They realised seeing Vulcan wedding traditions was a privilege few humans experienced. The extended family on Earth would enjoy the holo-recordings.
Lt Samuel Maxwell – Seria's brother
Sam was glad the first part of the ceremony was over. As much he was happy for his sister when she asked him to be a Vulcan bell ringer he had to think twice. Wearing those outfits was more uncomfortable than wearing his dress uniform. And who would have thought the damn bells were so heavy? But he played his part well and Erin Latara liked how he looked. Actually Erin liked the Vulcan outfit, Latara liked his dress uniform; both wanted to show their appreciation in private. Being a main wedding party member they had to stay close to the end so the wives needed to be a little patient. Did he just think the word 'wives'? Damn, this wedding vibe was rubbing off on him. Sa'mekh had already asked him his intentions towards his girlfriends. Aunty T'Anna was ready to perform the bonding ceremony there and then. Telling him it was a logical way to save funds. All Sam had to do was worry that his new brother in law the Admiral (another mind blowing thought) would make it an order for him to get engaged and Sam would grab his girls and flee the reception. He could just see Captain Kirk laughing his head off at that scene.
Minister Selek – Vulcan defence minister
It was a day he did not experience in his former life. His Admiral Pike was divorced due to a stillborn child, not a miscarriage. He spent the rest of his career as a bachelor. His Pike never met Seria Maxwell since there was no desire for a Starfleet base on Vulcan in 2263. His Vulcan did not get a base until after the Dominion war, long before then Seria Maxwell-Ys Fing was a respected architect and part time lecturer at the Vulcan Academy of Art and Design. Ironically Maxwell Kst Kau Assoc. received the contract so some things did not change.
Seria seemed to have a contented bond with the then Commander, eventually Admiral Stolek, her uncle Vice Admiral Robert Maxwell's protégé. With the death of her uncle on the USS Kelvin in this universe a relationship between Stolek and Seria never developed. With the death of Elizabeth Tucker and Commander Charles Tucker III in his reality, Commander Stolek never met T'Cara Tucker Crat-shu since she was never born.
Now here he was, the best man at his friend's wedding, Selek knew it was an honoured position. Pike requested himself and his counterpart Commander Spock in the role. The irony was not lost on either of them.
All his friends' lives were and would be completely different from what he knew. He quirked his lips as he looked at his own bondmate T'Mardis. If the Admiral was half as contented as he looked with his Vulcan bride then he knew they would both be very happy.
James T. Kirk – Captain of the USS Enterprise
Jim Kirk could say nothing but 'oh hell yes' when Admiral Pike asked him to officiate at his wedding. The Enterprise had been on exploration for four years when Pike sent him a commvid message of his engagement. Kirk thought lucky bastard when he saw the holo-image of Pike with his Vulcan fiancée. She was not only a young knockout but she did not look like your typical, serious faced Vulcan. Seeing her in the flesh made Kirk glad he was now a grown man in an exclusive relationship, plus Carol would have his hide if he looked too long, she was a weapons specialist after all. She might rig his phaser to explode or something.
He did wonder how they would combine the Human and Vulcan traditions but they managed. His part was played at the reception where the Terran vows were recited followed by amusing speeches, eating, drinking and dancing. He wondered what the Vulcans made of the whole thing. After seeing the elder T'Anna get up and do a waltz with Pike he guessed they found it bearable.
T'Anna – clan matriarch of Maat K'st Kau
"What thou art about to witness comes down from the time of the beginning. This is the Vulcan heart, this is the Vulcan soul, this is our way. Let the kal-i-farr commence".
T'Anna had repeated these words many times over the decades as clan matriarch. She considered each time as memorable as the first. As she looked at the couple, her eidetic memory replayed the scene when Seria's parent's Rachel and Salas had the same ceremony 49 years, three weeks and two days ago.
Such a seemingly unconventional union had stood the test of time and proven their critics wrong. T'Anna was not surprised. Her own daughter T'Kela had a successful union with her Terran Betazoid husband, producing T'Ynise and her twin brothers. Vulcan society needed to be less insular and embrace real IDIC by not discouraging these partnerships. Well sadly, tragic circumstances had forced their hand that such unions were becoming more common. Plus, why not embrace a culture that produced chocolate, champagne and had interesting dance moves as well?
T'Shea – first cousin to Salas
A day of joy and a day of sorrow, thought T'Shea as she looked across at the contented, happy faces compared to the stoic, defeated faces of the remnants of her blood clan Kril' es chan. It was the first she had seen any of them since she left the home world 77 years ago. Salas had informed her of their contact and desire to reconcile. He considered it logical since the ones responsible for their outcast status were all dead. T'Shea was not so easy to convince, she did not need them, she had a clan, and she had wealth. But seeing them at the reception looking so lost made her change her mind.
She rose from her seat at the head table and decided as her cousin Rachel put it, to be the 'better person'. She walked over to the clan matriarch and bowed low in respect, even though she was way older than the young woman.
"Greetings Lady T'Nara, and welcome kinsmen. Do you desire refreshment?"
It was an old traditional welcome between allied parties. T'Nara recognised the gesture for what it was and accepted graciously.
Rachel Kril'es chan Maxwell – Mother of the Bride
Her baby was now a married woman! Her sweet little Seria who she went through so much trial to bring into the world. Rachel did not believe she could be sad and happy at the same time but she was. Her adun helped calm her nerves and tears through the bond so she could face the Vulcan ceremony without bubbling like a baby. Seeing her little girl all dressed up in that beautiful, ivory beaded dress with a veil, (the Vulcans wondered why she was hiding). Oh she looked so beautiful. Pike was getting a pearl of great price. Oh dear here comes the tears again.. where is the handkerchief?
Salas Kriles chan Maxwell – Father of the bride
Salas recalled the words he spoke to Pike privately before the ceremony. Unlike human fathers he knew he did not need to be concerned that his daughter was in good hands, he had read Pike's thoughts. However his father and grandfather by marriage had taught him a few things and reminded him to play the role.
Their exact words were, "Salas if you don't go over there and give him the old Maxwell welcome, then we will."
"Admiral I give to you my daughter. May your bonding be as content as Surak and T'Mika. May it be as long as the east is from the west and the north to the south. If not I will not hesitate to dismember your body and hide your entrails."
Salas then calmly bowed and left to meet his daughter for the procession.
Vice Admiral Christopher Bruce Pike gulped.
Chee Chee - a wedding gift to the Pikes
The gift was from the clan, having been told of the human custom of chivaree, hence the name Chee Chee. The sentry sat outside the door of their bungalow in Kau woods. It was being christened, since the couple were its first occupants and well as being in Seclusion. A Vulcan custom they intended to respect for two weeks. Just in case Kirk or any other Terran prankster flew into the area to make some noise. The large toothed sehlat awaited their arrival with a sign around his neck saying – 'Do Not Disturb'. He intended to make his new pets proud, both the male and the female were mating and he would make sure nothing would disturb them.
