My scream, very simply, scared the living crap out of Alyssa, who was sitting next to the bed I was on. She jumped pretty much a foot and yelled, "Holy mother-what the hell, dude?!"
I stopped yelling and looked at her. "Oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to, just sorta…came out."
She shook her head disapprovingly, but I could see that she was hiding a small laugh. "So what's with the yelling?"
I told her about my dream, and her eyes got wide. "You pissed off two immortal beings?! I'm officially impressed."
I smiled sheepishly. "Do I get a reward?"
She gave a small smile, then kissed me. I kissed her, she kissed back, and-
"Hey! Is he awake yet?!"
We broke the kiss and I facepalmed. I went to the door, opened it, and slapped Eoniai in the face. "You couldn't have knocked?"
He shrugged. "I could." Then he smirked. "But what's the fun in that?"
I slapped him again for good measure, then left the room. I found the others waiting for me. "So where the hell are we?"
Tardon stood and said, "The location of the next guardian."
My eyes widened. "You know this for sure?" He nodded. "Well, where is he?"
"She, actually." He pointed. Waiting outside the building was a small girl, waving at me excitedly. She had blue hair, green eyes, and wore red. God, that threw me off.
I walked outside. "Hi there. Are your parents around?"
Next thing I knew, I felt a slap on my face. I rubbed my cheek and looked at her, and she looked pissed. "Oh, sure, you see a small girl and think she's just young. I'm a teenager, too, y'know! Jerk…" I looked her over. "Well, you can't blame me. You look like you're 11." She pouted, which didn't help her case. "I'm 16! Ignorant man…"
I looked her over again, making sure I was taking it in right. "So, if you're 16, why do you look 11?"
"Well…I come from a dwarf family. This'll only get worse…eh, I gotta deal with it anyways…so, you're here for the ring?"
I nodded. "Yeah, but…isn't this kinda unfair, what with your…height deficiency?"
She slapped me again. "No, it's not! Now transform already so I can kick your ass!"
Her spunk pulled me out of my way of thinking. I was about to change when I looked around. "Uh…is there anyone here?"
She shook her head. "Nope. No one else lives here on the lakefront."
"Lakefront?"
"Yeah, this is Lake Valor. Nice lake, huh? Now…let's get started!"
We transformed, and I saw that this Ring was Water. Fire and water were naturally enemies, so I could tell this was gonna be tough. I started off strong. "Flame Wheel!" Flames spewed from me, and I started front somersaulting over and over again, creating a wheel of flame (yeah, I know. I just did that). I charged at her, and she countered with "Water Gun!" Water started gushing from her hands, and the water stopped me in my tracks. The flames died out, and I flew backwards into the wall of the building. I shook my head, and I saw she was charging at me. Well, not charging…I couldn't find the word for it. She shouted "Aqua Jet!" and water surrounded her. She shot towards me like a rocket, but I sidestepped at the last second so she hit the wall. Well, she did…and went right through it. I looked through the hole she had left and saw she was still going, into the woods. I saw her go above the treetops, circling back this way, and I shouted "Flare Blitz!" Instantly I was surrounded by blue fire. I charged at her, and we made contact. We both hit the ground, and I could feel that that Flare Blitz had drained a good chunk of my energy. I got up slowly, and I saw she did, too. I shouted "Fire Punch!" and flames surrounded my fist. I swung it at her, and she was too slow to react. She took it on the chin and flew backwards into a tree.
I went over to her, and she transformed back, so I did, too. She smiled weakly. "Ow. Just…ow. Here." She took off her Ring and gave it to me. I put it on, and I could feel more water coursing through me than usual. I smiled and looked at her. "That was a good battle."
She nodded. "I thought so. By the way, you're headed to Unova. I'm the last guardian in the region."
I helped her up and shook her hand. "Thanks. How should we get there? I don't think our mode of inter-region transportation will be good…"
She shook her head. "No, that won't work. Pastoria City's got an airport that can take you to Unova."
I nodded. "Thanks again. So, what's your name, anyways?"
She chuckled. "We didn't get around to that, did we? Huh…I'm Waverly."
I smiled. "See ya, Waverly."
"See ya."
We left Lake Valor and headed south for Pastoria like Waverly suggested. About five minutes later, we got there, and the ground felt kinda…marshy. We found the airport like she had suggested and left for Unova (and yes, I know that the cities I give airports don't have them. I'm just placing airports there to make it easier. Sue me).
We landed in a place called Castelia City, which, according to Eoniai, was smack dab in the middle of the region and also the biggest city in the region. "So if you know this semi-pointless fact, do you know where we should go?"
He consulted his map. "Well, Water's weak to a couple of things, so…Nimbasa, Striaton, maybe Pinwheel Forest…lots of options."
"Nimbasa."
I turned to Bushma. "What makes you say that, Bushma?"
I looked at us, a little sheepishly. "Well…I don't know. I'm just guessing."
Tardon and Eoniai sighed, but I said, "Well, we don't have anything else to go on. Might as well."
They looked at each other and nodded. We headed north out of the city, but before we actually left, something-or rather, someone-caught my eye. My eyes narrowed, and I followed him, with my puzzled group following me, as usual.
The man went into an office building, and I followed him in. I saw him take an elevator, and I saw it went all the way to the top. I called the other elevator, and we started to head to the top floor.
Alyssa turned me to face her. "Red, what the heck?"
I looked at the floor counter, then back at her. "I thought I saw something. I just need to check it out."
She looked a little miffed, but didn't complain. We got to the top, I transformed, and the others followed suit, even Bushma and Tranco. Bushma looked like an archer with stealth, and Tranco looked similar to Tardon, but with what looked like lighter clothing. The door opened, and we stepped out. Two figures looked at us. "Can we help you?"
I pointed to the one on the right. "You!"
