I would like to state I do not own either Haven or Buffy the Vampire Slayer

A different kind of Haven

Summary: As Buffy is standing on the bus terminal, she is looking at her future destinations. She sees a place that makes her think it will be a nice calm, peaceful place to settle in. None other than Haven, Maine.

Previously: "Hey guys, what's up?" Buffy asked as she closed the distance.

"Not much. What about you?" Joyce asked.

"Well, I have to go and get changed. They will be calling me in about 10 minutes for the gymnastics tryouts. They said that you all could watch, but you have to stay in the stands. I will be right back, and then we will wait together." Buffy said as she walked away to the restrooms on the side of the auditorium.

A/N: This is my first story and I am looking for any type of feedback. Please let me know with a review if you like the story. I would like to thank any reviewers that I have had. On with the show.

Chapter28

Once Buffy exited the bathroom, she had easily found her group of supporters.

"Hey guys! Anyone hear my name called yet?" Buffy asked the group waiting.

"Not yet sweetie." Joyce said.

"It should be soon." Garland stated only seconds before the group had heard her name called.

"Elizabeth Summers!" The gymnastics coach called.

'Here we go' Buffy thought to herself before she called out.."Here!".

"This was please." The second coach had stated as led the group to the main gymnasium.

"Good Luck!" Was shouted simultaneously by everybody in the group at once.

"Thanks guys." Buffy said, as she gave out hugs to everyone but the F.B.I. Agent.

"I believe that we will start with the vault. What number do you want us to set the pad to for your amount of bounce?" The coach had asked.

"I think that four foot two would be good to start out with. That was what I used the last time I did this. We can always go from there, right?" Buffy asked, as the coach gave her a look of pure speculation.

"Alright, are you ready? I want to do a set of two in each area, and we will use your top score in each category." The coach said as he gave Buffy the signal to begin.

As soon as Buffy calked her hands and feet, she walked up to the mat and began her run for the spring board and vault.

Everyone in the stands were holding their breath waiting for Buffy to land on solid ground again.

All of the coaches fears were for nothing when Buffy performed a perfect Yurchenko style vault perfectly, and all the while sticking the landing. For the second vault, Buffy performed a Tsukahara vault just as perfect as the first.

All of the coaches seemed to be struck dumb at the moment, because nobody was able to speak.

As soon as Buffy was finished she walked over to the coaches to ask if they wanted to see anymore. "Would that be all of the vault, or do you want me to move on to the beam?"

"Let's move on to the beam. Do you want a side start or a running start?" The coach asked.

"A running start is more preferable to me." Buffy stated as she re-chalked her hands and feet to do her running mount.

"We have decided that we would like to see one for each. Let's start with the running mount, and then the side mount. Just do a mini routine so we can get a look at your form, and to see what you may need help with." The coach stated.

"Alright, that is not a problem." Buffy said as she prepared for her running mount.

Once she landed on the mount, Buffy began to twist and turn like the best of them. After three minutes, Buffy paused and asked the coaches something. "Do you want me to do a full dis-mount or a side dismount?"

"If you think that you can do a full, do one with this routine, but with the second run through, just do a side dismount." The main coach stated.

Once Buffy was given the go ahead she began the routine again to get a good momentum for the dismount.

"Didn't you tell her not to use her 'special abilities'? I thought that she was only supposed to be how she was before she became the...you know?" Garland asked his ex wife and his daughter's mentor.

"She is. This is how good she was before she was called. The year that she was called, Buffy was asked to be on the national gymnastics team. She almost accepted the spot, but then she realized that one day she had almost quadruple the strength behind her routines. I didn't know at the time about all of that other business, but Buffy just said that she didn't want to give up the rest of her childhood. I always enjoyed watching her practice. Her movements were always so graceful." Joyce finished feeling very sorry for the problems that her daughter had to face all alone. 'I can't believe that she still had to end her childhood early, but for different reasons.'. Joyce thought to herself.

All the while everyone was watching Buffy's routine, nobody noticed that Spike was in the far back corner watching her every movement.

'I can not believe that I ever wanted to kill that bird right there. What must I have been thinking?' Spike thought to himself.

Buffy had finished her routine with a double cartwheel and a double flip in the air, and landed gracefully on her two feet.

Once she was done with that routine, Buffy took the time to wipe off the beam before she went again. Once Buffy had re-chalked, yet again, Buffy moved to stand next to the beam for her second routine.

Buffy pulled herself up onto the beam to begin her routine. Once she finished, Buffy just jumped off to the side of the beam for the dismount.

"That was very nice Miss Summers. Since we do have several other people signed up to tryout today, I do not feel that it is a necessity for you to do the floor routine. I think that it is safe to say, 'Welcome to the team!'" The coach stated very enthusiastically.

"We should get you back to the main room now. The other tryouts should be starting soon. We will be meeting on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays. Will that be a problem for you?" The second coach asked.

"No sir. It really shouldn't, but I do not know when the figure skating team meetings are yet." Buffy stated truthfully.

"Well, we can work something out. I do not want us to lose your talent. There is no way that we won't make it to the finals with you here." The coach stated as he led Buffy and her group back to the auditorium.

"Well that went good." Garland stated to break the silence.

"Yeah, it really did. I have missed it sorely. I feel so free doing things like this." Buffy said with a sigh, and small smile.

Once the group had made it back to the auditorium, Duke had pulled Buffy off to the side.

"Do you have any plans for tonight at all?" Duke asked Buffy.

"Not to my recollection, No. Why?" Buffy asked in response with a raised eyebrow.

"I was just wondering if you wanted to go out to dinner with me tonight?" Duke asked Buffy.

"Yeah, that sounds like fun. Will it be just us, like a date thing?" Buffy asked back.

"Yeah, a date type thing. How does 7:00 sound?" Duke said with a laugh.

"That sounds perfect. I can not wait." Buffy said, as they caught up to the others near Dwight's table.

"Elizabeth, we will be going to the rink in just a few minutes. Your entourage has to wait in the stands until we are all finished. There is only ten people who had signed up, so it should not take to long." Dwight said, with a smile on his face at Buffy's embarrassment.

"Not funny Dwight." Garland stated, while trying to hide his own laughter.

"Yeah it was. Just a little bit. Alright, let's head on over to the rink now since everyone is here." Dwight said, still laughing as he began to walk away.

Once they had reached the rink, the onlookers made their way to the stands to watch the different routines.

Buffy felt better since she was not the only one that had family and friends watching.

"OK! First up is Elizabeth Summers. All of you will be doing two different routines. The first run through will be a short program. Once we made it through all of you, we will go through the list again for the long program. Does everybody understand the rules?" Dwight asked the girls that were gathered there to tryout.

"Yes Sir!" Was heard being shouted by all of the girls present. Buffy included.

"Alright Elizabeth, you have the ice for three minutes. WOW ME." Dwight said as the girls went to go and put on their skates.

Since Buffy had brought her own skates, there was no reason for her to wait in the line for the skates with the other girls. Instead, Buffy moved over to the benches to lace up her own.

"This is great. I have missed doing this so much." Buffy said to herself.

Once Buffy's skates were laced up, Buffy made her way to the ice.

Buffy began to get a feel for the ice as the other girls began to take to the ice too.

"Good luck new girl." A girl who to Buffy seemed to be very snobbish and very fake called out in a bittersweet manner.

"Thanks, I think." Buffy mumbled in a reply.

"Alright! Elizabeth Summers you are up. You have three minutes. GO!" Dwight shouted as he pressed the play button on his radio to start the music.

Buffy was shocked when Centuries from Fall Out Boy began to play.

As Buffy began her performance the girls on the side began to talk.

"I heard that she got kicked out of her old school." One girl stated.

"I heard that she killed someone." Another stated.

"I was in the office when she first got here. She is the long lost daughter of the Chief of Police I guess. The mother left him and she just found her way back. I also heard that she is going to be entering classes as a Senior." Another stated.

The mean girl actually said, "I really don't care, as long as she skates like this during competitions. If she does than we will be unstoppable. I don't think this activity will be canceled now. She is awesome."

Once the music stopped, Buffy had finished her sit and spin and came back to the edge of the rink with the others.

"That was really good. I am Candi. Where did you learn to skate like that Elizabeth?" Candi aka to Buffy the mean girl asked.

"I just grew up learning how to skate. I think I skated before I even knew how to walk. Please call me Buffy. Only my dad, brother, and their friends call me Elizabeth." Buffy stated as she went to sit down.

"Candi you are up next." Dwight stated.

As they began to go through the list of girls, Buffy just sat and meditated to prepare for the long program.

Dwight called Buffy's name again for her second run through.

Once she got on the ice, Dwight pushed play again to the song Take me to Church by Hozier.

Once again everyone was awestruck by her graceful movements.

Once everyone was finished, Dwight stated that the choices will be posted on the bulletin board by the office on Monday morning.

Once they were done, Buffy went to go and meet her family and friends.

"That was even better than the gymnastics. You did really good Buffy." Giles stated.

"Thanks Giles. I forgot that you have never seen me skate before." Buffy stated

"That was pretty good Elizabeth." Agent Parker stated.

"Thank you Agent Parker. I need to go and find the Counselor before we leave. Who will be taking me home?" Buffy asked the group.

"Giles and I will be Buffy. Your father and brother need to go to the station with Agent Parker and Duke." Joyce stated.

"Alright. Are we still on for tonight Duke?" Buffy asked Duke.

"Yes Mam. I will be there at 7:00 on the dot." Duke stated.

"Will you be in your drop top cruising the street?" Buffy asked Duke.

At that comment Duke, Nathan, and Agent Parker began to laugh along with Buffy.

"Alright guys. I have to go and find Mr. A. I will meet up with you and Giles here in just a few." Buffy said as she began to run to the auditorium.
