When Thalia opened her eyes she was disoriented for a second until she realized that she was in fact sleeping in a bed.
"Luke?" she asked softly. She looked around, but she couldn't see the blonde boy she learned to love over the last years. She tiptoed through the small room which as she noticed didn't have much furniture in it besides the bed and an old chair, but had big windows.
She looked outside and noticed that everything was covered by fresh snow. She heard the creaking of the floor and with a movement too quick for a usual mortal she turned around only to notice a grinning face.
"Happy birthday, Princess," the blonde boy stated and Thalia raised her eyebrows as she noticed that he had a bouquet of red roses in his hands.
"Who are you and what have you done to Luke Castellan?" she asked and he grinned, his blue eyes had a mischievous glint in them.
"A dozen roses for a dozen year," he stated simply and the daughter of Zeus crossed her arms.
"Where are we and why have you kidnap me, you monster? Why didn't you just kill me?" Thalia asked seriously and the blonde boy started laughing. He took a step closer to the girl and raised her chin gently with his right hand.
"Thalia, it's me. It's your birthday, Princess. I wanted to surprise you with a place to sleep and well..." he said and he blushed slightly when he tossed the red roses on the unmade bed. Thalia raised her eyebrows and frowned.
"So you have done all this to celebrate my birthday? Are you insane, Luke?" she asked in a huffish tone and he shook his head with a grin on his face.
"I know, it's not much, but I wasn't sure how many roses you wanted. Maybe I should have got twenty not only twelve," he said thoughtfully and she rolled her eyes, but she didn't take a step back, she remained close to him.
"You, idiot. Why are we even celebrating this day? I don't care about my birthday," Thalia stated and Luke smiled smugly.
"That's bad, because I actually do," he stated and the daughter of Zeus crossed her arms.
"And why would you do that?" she asked challengingly, but the boy saw in her eyes that she was serious, that she really wanted to know his reasons. He brushed his thumb against her cheeks and smiled softly.
"Because I care about you Thalia," he stated and he let his hand fall down, but she grabbed it.
"I care about you too, Luke," she told him softly. He put his arms around her waist and hugged her tightly.
