I know it's been a while, but I became inspired by a video on YouTube called Klaus and Caroline This Love by coldrequiem.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT! IT MEANS A LOT TO ME!

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN ANY OF THE CHARACTERS OR THE SONG USED! (Though I wish I did, like so many Klaroline fans!)

SETTING: Set during TO episode 3x02. I don't watch it, but I heard what happened between Klaus and Hayley, so I decided to write a take on it with Caroline added in. I hope that's okay…

RELATIONSHIPS: Semi

DESCRIPTION: Klaus takes the blows and accusations delivered by Hayley, but when Hope enters the picture, Caroline makes her presence known.

SONG: This Love by Taylor Swift (I know, still not a fan of hers, but the video had it with a man's voice, what can I say…) We'll just say the video was the inspiration.

Klaus stood before Hayley as she threw out the accusations he so readily knew that he deserved. He had taken his daughter's mother away from her, but in the all, it was because he wanted to protect her.

No matter what Hayley believed, Hope was his priority, and she would remain his priority for the rest of his life.

Hayley pushed him, growling, and hurt lining her words with each one thrown. "Fight back!" She shouted, pushing him at his chest. "Fight back!" She shouted again, pulling back, and slapped his face with her right hand.

"Klaus!"

His eyes widened, as the voice floated to his ears, and both he and Hayley turned their heads to find a blonde woman entering the courtyard, stopping beside Elijah with concern lining her features.

She moved to step towards the couple, but Elijah stopped her just as Klaus' eyes brightened at the sight of her for only a moment. On the other side of the walkway, a baby girl toddled out of the room, and watched with a confused look on her face as she took in the two figures on the other end.

Klaus tilted his head to the side, and looked ashamed at what his daughter had witnessed. Hayley turned and when she caught sight of her daughter, her heart tumbled in her chest. "She's walking?" She asked, starting to move towards her, but Hope backed up, and focused on her dad. For an instant, Hayley felt anger once again at Klaus for making her miss the formative years of her daughter's life.

The anger spread as Hope walked passed her, and headed towards Klaus, who scooped her up in his arms. "I think this is enough." He whispered, walking past Hayley, and started down the stairs.

Hayley shook her head, and jumped from the balcony, landing in front of Klaus. "She's my daughter, Klaus." She remarked, shakily.

Klaus nodded, and hugged Hope close to him. "I know, but she's not safe here." He stated, moving past her, and headed straight towards his brother and Caroline.

Caroline opened her mouth to say something anything, but decided against it when Klaus moved his eyes to the side, motioning to Hayley was nearly crumbling behind them.

She nodded in understanding, and followed behind Klaus as he walked out of the courtyard towards the place he called home. As he sat Hope down in her small playpen, and turned to find her standing against the door with her hands behind her.

"Come at a bad time?" She asked, shrugging her shoulders, trying to break the ice.

He inhaled deeply, and shook his head. "No, love, you didn't." He answered, after a moment. "Why are you here?" He asked, folding his arms over his chest.

She sighed, and lowered her eyes to the ground before lifting her eyes back to his. "I needed to see you." She answered, moving her eyes to Hope. "She's beautiful." She complimented with a smile.

Klaus smiled, and turned his body to touch the top of his daughter's head, who in turn smiled up at him. "Yes, she is." He answered, before turning his attention to her.

Before he could ask another question, Caroline opened the door, and motioned out. "I think she wants to sleep." She remarked, as Hope moved down, and began to close her eyes.

Klaus nodded in agreement, and followed Caroline out the door, gently closing it as they went.

He sighed as she moved into the kitchen, and found a rag, which she quickly wet, and turned to him.

"You, um," She began, motioning to his nose, and then to the stool. "Let me." She added, as he slowly sat down, and she began to wipe the blood off his nose, her fingers lightly brushing against his skin, letting the spark touch her hand into her blood, and smiled lightly before turning to rinse the rag out.

"Caroline,"

She sighed, and gripped the counter with her hands. "I couldn't stay there." She remarked, after a moment. "Mom died a few months ago." She added, lifting her head, and slowly turned to face him.

He swallowed, and shook his head. "Caroline, I'm sorry. Had I known…" He began, but stopped when she lifted her hand to halt his words.

"I know, but I made you promise, didn't I?" She asked, with a laugh, though it wasn't full of light as usual. "The moment you walked away, I regretted making you promise to never come back." She added, bowing her head. "When my mom died, Stefan was the only one who took care of me, who stood by me, who tried to reach me." She continued, licking her lips. "I turned my emotions off." She added, quickly.

Klaus' eyes narrowed, and glared at her with his cerulean blue eyes.

She laughed with breathless sound, and tilted her head up. "Then Elena went into a coma," She remarked, shaking her head. "Then Heretics arrived in town, and began to take over everything, turning humans, and then eating them, sapping magic from those who carried it…" She continued, nearly ranting. "I couldn't stay there, knowing that no matter what I did, something or someone always kept coming at us, so I left." She added, nonchalantly.

He studied her face, and watched as she began to bite her bottom lip. "Caroline, what is it?" He asked, as her eyes came up to meet his.

"I hated that promise the moment you made it, but at the time, all I could think about was how much I never wanted to see you again, because…" She paused, shaking her head. "I knew about her, about Hayley." She added, in a hurried breathe.

His eyes widened, but his face gave nothing away, but they narrowed as he realized how she knew. "Lockwood," He whispered, closing his eyes.

She nodded, and stepped forward, forcing him to open his eyes once again. "He's no longer a Hybrid, by the way." She began, as his eyes widened a fraction, but not much. "Some freaky think about closing the other side or something, I personally thought it was stupid, but what's done is done, although he did reactivate his wolf gene." She added, with a sorry note.

He swallowed, and lowered his eyes. "So what, you want me to turn him back into a hybrid, is that why you've come?" He asked, with a hint of malice.

She opened her mouth, and shook her head. "Do you really think that low of me?" She asked, placing her hand on her chest.

He scoffed, and turned his head to the side. "Yes, Caroline, I do." He answered, standing up to face her off.

She opened her mouth in disbelief. "Why? What have I done to deserve that?" She asked, throwing her arms out.

He scoffed, and shook his head. "What have you not done?" He asked, in a tone full of malice. "You only call when you want something, Caroline." He stated, as she swallowed, hard.

"Well, you would be surprised to know that I didn't come here to get your blood or whatever is required to make a hybrid. I could care less about Tyler and his little problems! What about my problems?!" She shouted, glaring at him, facing him until they near nose and nose.

"What problems would those be, love?" He asked, in a stiff tone.

"My best friend is in a witch induced coma, tied to my other best friend, who, if she dies, the other wakes up. My real best friend, who I thought I was developing feelings for, turned out to have gotten some heretic pregnant over 200 years ago!" She shouted, ignoring the look of pain on his face. "My mother died, and I never truly got to mourn her because I couldn't handle the pain, and the one person I wanted there, I made promise to never return." She added, tears stinging her eyes. "And you know what the biggest problem is?" She asked, choking, as tears fell down her face.

He swallowed, and searched her face. "You don't have to." He whispered, causing her to look up into his eyes.

She smiled, and nodded. "Yes, I do." She began, lifting her eyes to the top of the stairs, and smiled as a she remembered the baby on the second floor. "My biggest problem is that you have what I'll never have." She stated, stepping back. "You have a family, and a beautiful daughter. That's something I'll never have, Klaus." She added, bowing her head.

Klaus bowed his head, and shifted on his feet. "Caroline, if there is anything, anything you need, tell me." He remarked, as she smiled through her tears.

She titled her head to the side, and let out a laugh. "A cold beer and a warm meal would a great start." She remarked, as a smile lit his face.

"Well then, who am I to deny a lady's request?" He asked, in a playful tone, but she saw the sincerity in his eyes.

"Why don't you bring Hope? I'd love to get to know the daughter of the most dangerous man in the world." She remarked, as he led her to the door.

He smiled, and turned to head up the stairs, grabbing his babbling daughter, and headed back down stairs to meet the woman who owned his heart.

Well, part of it, the other part belonged to the little wolf in his arms.

Please be kind!

I know this doesn't match the song, but as I said the video was the inspiration, so if you can, check it out!

Also, I know this wasn't the best, but cut me some slack, I wrote this on pure exhaustion, after working all day, having to deal with a grumpy dog, my family driving me to the brink, I only had time for this short one-shot. :)

Also, expect an update to my other story, Dark Possession tomorrow for Halloween, and possibly here for another one! :)

Until Next Time...
