Back in Kellie's hospital room, Tyler shut the door as the last of their friends and family left.
"Are you okay," Kellie asked.
Tyler sat on the hospital bed next to Kellie.
"I guess," Tyler said, "No, maybe, I don't. It seems surreal. My mother is Helena's daughter. I'm her grandson."
"I can't even wrap my mind around that fact neither one of us knew who our biological families were when we met. Somehow a Corinthos and a Cassadine still wound up together," Kellie said.
"I keep wondering if I have the potential to be like my mother or Helena," Tyler said, "What if their defects are part me?"
"Helena had nothing to do with raising you or your mother," Kellie said, "You are definitely not your Mother despite her influence or lack thereof. You are nothing like Helena. You also had a great father. He has done everything to support you and take care of you. He's taken care of so many foster kids, giving them voice, and working to give them ways to a better life."
"I worry about what my Mother and Helena are up to," Tyler said, "My mother has never liked you. If Helena can find a way to settle a score with you, she will."
"I know," Kellie said, "At least Nic is keeping tabs on them. It's not like we don't have to be on guard any way with my enemies, my father and uncle's enemies."
"I kind of just want to crawl in a hole and hide somewhere," Tyler said.
"I know that feeling," Kellie said, "When I found out about Sonny and Alcazar being my family, both times I wanted to run far, far away. Especially, when Sonny found out about me. Every time, I had to go numb, because danger was just around the corner. If you need time to freak out, take it."
"Maybe Ric will give me a few weeks vacation if that's where we wind up," Tyler said.
"Are you thinking about going to work with my uncle?" Kellie said.
"That depends if you want to go to California like we talked about," Tyler said, "He's offering me a partnership. It's mostly entertainment and celebrity contracts. The thing with my Dad was a favor."
"That sounds pretty good," Kellie said, "As long as your okay with it and it's what you want, California sounds pretty good."
"I have to admit entertainment law would be a welcome change from what I've done as an attorney so far," Tyler said.
"Defended my father's employees for years and Port Charles is a hot bed for unique law case studies," Kellie said, "Entertainment law actually sounds mundane, boring."
"Our families will probably make up for that," Tyler said, "Life with you has never been boring."
"As long as we limit our time in Port Charles, we should be able to keep the chaos to dull roar," Kellie said, "We really don't have to go back until Sage and Milo's wedding in June."
"Speaking of which," Tyler said, "Do you have a place or a date in mind for our wedding?"
"Place, yes," Kellie said, "Date, I'd like to be out of the sling and need a little time. But I don't want a big wedding, something small. Mostly who was here today, plus a few people."
"Your dad's island," Tyler said, "It's private and it's the one place you've always been happy."
"Is that alright with you if Jason will let us use it," Kellie said, "It's not really my Dad's anymore."
"Would September work?" Tyler said.
"I know it's probably further away than you might have been thinking," Kellie said.
"But you need to time plan the wedding and look for Sage's son," Tyler said, "Not to mention you don't want to outshine Sage for her wedding Day. I wouldn't have it any other way, Sweetheart."
"We'll talk to Jason tomorrow and set a date," Kellie said, "Have the doctors said when I'm getting out of this joint?"
"Day after tomorrow," Tyler said.
"I suggest we start looking into a place to stay in California," Kellie said,
The Next Day
Kellie ended up being released a day early. Back at the Alcazar estate, Jason met her and Tyler out on the terrace.
"What did you two want to see me about?" Jason asked.
"We were hoping you'd let us get married on the island?" Kellie said, "Say sometime in September."
"Let me know what the date is and it's yours," Jason said, "The island is yours for your wedding and as soon as I get the papers drawn up, the island and the casino will be yours free and clear. Consider it a wedding gift."
"If you want it," Sonny said, joining them on the terrace.
"I don't understand," Kellie said.
"We stopped using the Casino as part of our business model before I got out," Sonny said, "I'd asked Jason once we knew you were going to make it if the island might be something we transfer over to you. It's the place that you've been the happiest to my knowledge."
"You could run the Casino yourself if you wanted to or have Slater do it for you," Jason said, "It's completely up to you."
"Yes, I definitely want the island," Kellie said, "As for what I want to do with the casino I need some time to think about it. I was also considering going into business as a security consultant once Tyler and I get to California. But I could also use the island for some of my clients as a private getaway potentially."
"You don't have to figure it out right now," Sonny said, "So California."
"Yes," Tyler said, "Ric is bringing over some papers and bringing me on as a partner."
"I hope you understand, Dad" Kellie said.
"I don't want to but I do," Sonny said, "I never wanted my life, the business for you. The fact is being in Port Charles keeps you in the business. You're further away from it this way."
"I love you, Dad," Kellie said, "I hope you know that despite everything."
"I love you too, kid," Sonny said.
Two weeks later
California townhouse
With Ric's assistant, Tyler and Kellie had found a house outside of town to live in. Tyler met with Nic in the study of the townhouse.
"Thanks for coming out here," Tyler said, "We're trying to stay away for awhile."
"Given you and your wife's history with Port Charles, it's understandable," Nic said, "How is Kellie?"
"She is on her way to her father's island, well her island now," Tyler said, "She's meeting with Zach Slater to go through the casino and figure out what she wants to do with it."
"Does she want to run it?" Nic asked.
"Maybe," Tyler said, "She's not sure. She was thinking of going into business as a security consultant. The casino thing is a little foreign to her."
"She could do both if she wanted. And how's her arm?" Nic asked.
"A couple more weeks in the sling and she'll be out of it," Tyler said, "I know you didn't just come to chat about life in general. So why don't you tell me why you're here."
"The whole you being Helena's grandson," Nic said, " I wish the fact you're not true Cassadine would mean you're not subject to the craziness that comes with being Cassadine, but unfortunately in your case, it doesn't hold true."
"Thanks to Luis, Kellie ended up in Helena's crosshairs," Tyler said, "It's not like she wasn't on our radar anyway."
"But the fact you're her blood changes things," Nic said, "I have no doubt that you and Kellie can take care of yourselves. "
"Hopefully staying away from Port Charles and anywhere there is Cassadine influence will minimize that type of thing," Nic said, "Although my mother may be another story."
"Do you and Kellie plan on having kids?" Nic asked.
"Unless Kellie decides she wants to take that risk, no," Tyler said, "Given her past and the number of enemies she has by working for the WSB and being a Corinthos and Alcazar, she does not want to bring kids into our life. Not the way it is."
"And you're okay with that?" Nic said.
"There is part of me that wants to take the risk," Tyler said, "Kids were in the original plan. But she's also right. The danger is real. Look at Michael. And I love Kellie. So if no kids are part of the deal to be with her, then I'll take it."
"If you ever do change your mind about kids," Nic said, "don't let your guard down where Helena is concerned. For a long time, she only wanted legitimate Cassadines. However, the stunt she pulled with Danny might indicate otherwise."
"Helena would actually be worse," Tyler said, "She wouldn't kill the kid, she'd try to raise it into her version of a Cassadine."
"Welcome to the Cassadines, cousin," Nic said.
"Can I get an unwelcome?" Tyler asked, "Present company excluded."
"If only it were that simple, I would have taken that route a long time ago," Nic said.
