Soleanna and the others made it to the mansion just fine. Now that she knew what to expect with time travel, she was able to pick a destination instead of it being decided for her. The sun was shining, proving to be a good day. Nothing here had changed since she was gone, which meant that everything still should have been fine. Her head was still spinning, but it had been a long trip.

"You're back!" shouted Jubilee. She was standing under a tree with Kitty, a look of shock on her face at watching them appear out of thin air.

"Just in time to," said Emma, coming towards them.

"What's going on?" asked Sole, not liking the look on her face.

"I'll let the Professor tell you," she replied, leading the way to the war room. Sole had never walked this path before with suck anxiety. It felt like no matter how much closer they got, they were still walking for hours to get there. Emma looked grave, too serious, more serious than normal. Sole didn't like it. Had so much really happened since they had been gone? How long had they been gone? Why couldn't she inherit a teleport power? But they finally reached their destination, and not a moment too soon. Sole was going to start walking through walls if they didn't get there fast enough. Scott, Hank and Xavier were all there, Jubilee and Kitty having followed the rest of the crowd.

"What happened?" Sole asked immediately.

"Lune and Mystique have escaped," Xavier began, "They took with them a copy of every file we have on record. That means the government files as well as the mutant database on all the X-men. They have all the security defenses of the mansion as well. We have been trying to change all of our security, but I fear that Lune will know us so well it will not make a difference.

"Forge has also brought us more information on Project Paradise. It's going to start off as a safe haven, like Asteroid M or Genosha, another hoax to lure all mutants. But they will not be enslaved, they will be nothing but lab rats. Our government wants to extract mutant powers and place them in an army of sentinels for a new world order. They are trying to wipe all mutants off the planet, and any other threat that may present to them. We are their first target, specifically you, Soleanna. Lune is distracting us until they can mount their attack on you."

"The sentinels won't listen to the humans. Nor will they be able to extract any mutant powers, they've been trying for years in the labs. But they won't have a chance once they get set up. Lune is only using them to get what he wants, he'll kill everything in sight once he gets the chance."

"I am curious to know if Magneto has made it in the future," said Hank.

"He was executed in front of the whole world once they all figure out Project Paradise was a sham," said Maddock.

"How much do you remember of the beginning?" asked Xavier.

"Everything. I was ten when it all happened."

"Could you recount what happened? Perhaps there will be a way to help us," said Hank.

"Let's see... It started with mutant rebels at first. The Brotherhood started taking non mutant casualties. Mostly rich ones, important people, they were very specific about it. The people demanded action, they want the mutants to pay for their crimes. Then some official, I can't recall his name executes a few Brotherhood members. Mangeto starts to take revenge for his fallen mutants, and eventually goes berserk when they almost kill Wanda. The same official takes the stand, deciding that separating mutants and non mutants is the only way to live in peace. So they release the Mutant Paradise, where all mutants are free to go or sent should they continue on with their crimes. But a few years passes and the hate crimes don't stop. Eventually they pass a new law, declaring that all mutants must go to Paradise. In a week's time, should any mutant disobey the law, they will be forcefully moved or killed, whichever they prefer. To prove a point, they kill Magneto, the one they think has the most power. So they send in their sentinels and everything they have to rally up the mutants and take them to Paradise."

"It's there that everything goes wrong," Sole began, "They simply do not have the man power to continue this quest. They extract powers from mutants and place them into non mutants, which makes the sentinels attack the whole damn place. Now non mutants are on the run, and the machines destroy everything in sight. There are only a few non mutants left, in the labs where they still faithfully continue with their plan, thinking that once they get the right kind of power, they can regain control. It spreads around the world like the plague."

"These attacks from the Brotherhood seem to trigger it all?" asked Hank.

"It sounds like a set up, don't smell right" said Logan.

"I agree. Magneto is working to ensure Project Paradise comes to fruition. Lune has enlisted his help it seems," said Xavier.

"So it's all starting then..." trailed Maddock, "All we're missing are the casualties."

"We have to stop them," said Jean.

"Not so fast. You remember that Lune is calling the shots right now. Things won't happen the way Maddock remembers," said Sole.

"So what are we goin' to do about it?" asked Logan.

"There's nothing we can do until Lune makes his first move," said Scott.

"Where would they go?" asked Ororo.

"The logical place would be Washington. But they know we would think that," answered Hank.

"There's no help for it. We'll have to scout around the country until we can find them," said Xavier.

"I can stay in contact with cerebro," offered Emma.

"You all seem to forget that we have Maddock with us. He can sense mutants in the vicinity," said Sole.

"That's right," said Maddock.

"Not to mention Mystique and Lune can't travel as fast we can, with or without Magneto," said Hank.

"I can stay with Maddock while in contact with Emma. He can find mutants, I can connect with his mind to figure out if they are the ones we are looking for," said Jean, "So long as you don't mind."

"As long as you're not going into my memories," said Maddock.

"When do we leave?" asked Logan.

"As soon as we can," said Sole.

"It's decided. Soleanna, Maddock and Jean will take the Blackbird and try to locate Lune and Mystique," said Xavier.

"You forgot to mention me, Chuck," said Logan.

"Y'all can't have a party without meh," said Rogue.

"Gambit in fo' de long haul," said Remy.

"I shall assist as well," said Ororo.

"Very well. Scott, you and Beast gather whoever's left and stay close to the Blackbird should they need the help," said Xavier.

"What about you, Professor?" asked Scott.

"Forge will be back soon, Emma is remaining as well. The students will be on lock down and the mansion defenses should be able to fend off anything that comes for us."

"I'll make sure there isn't anything that can get to you too fast once we're gone," assured Maddock.

"Thank you."

"It won't be easy to find them. Mystique is good at avoiding detection."

"So what are we waitin' for? Party invitations?" asked Logan sarcastically. Sole smirked, following Jean and Maddock out of the war room.

Her parents fell in step on either side of her. She didn't know how well this plan would work, but she was hoping that they could solve this problem once and for all. She remembered what it was like to be happy, and she was sick of fighting. No more would she deal with all the pain and sorrow, she would do what she was supposed to and do it right this time. She knew what she had to do, and she always succeeded in her missions. Always.

"Y'ready for dis, petite?" asked Remy.

"Whether I am or not, I don't have much of a choice, do I?" answered Sole.

"Y'always have a choice, Sole. Gambit make sure o'dat."

"Ah won' let ye do nothin' ye don' want ta," said Rogue.

"It has to be me," she said gravely, "I am the key to all of this. Once I stop it, life can go back to normal and I'll be free to live once again."

"Ye won' be alone, sugah."

"Ye can' get rid o'me," said Remy.

Soleanna smiled, feeling a bounce to her step as she approached the hangar.

...

who missed me? :D love you!
