"I can't believe MI9 didn't tell me about this." Frank ranted angrily. Behind him, there was a gaping hole in the wall from where they'd cut the wall away to reveal the tunnel. "First we find there's a KORPS lab under the school and now find there's a tunnel –"

"Frank!" Zoe shouted, interrupting his ranting. She'd overcome her earlier near-hysteria in the tunnel, but the memory of it still brought a smile to her face. She liked the idea of Dan being childish sometimes. "We found it."

It's the MI9 file on the bunker." Tom said. "It's still classified." He too seemed untouched by the day's earlier events – being in his element, around computers and technology, had allowed his paranoia about the tunnel to fade away.

"Right, that's it. I'm calling Stella." Frank said.

"And what? Tell her we went down the hatch against orders?" Aneisha asked.

"Well we've got to do something." Frank said. Meanwhile, Dan remained completely oblivious to the conversation happening around him as he tried to use a screwdriver to get the box he'd found to open. It was really starting to bug him, not knowing what was inside.

"Well . . . Tom can open the file." Zoe said. Suddenly worried that she was making empty promises, she turned to Tom. "Can you open the file?"

Tom nodded and Zoe grinned. "There you go. Tom can open the file."

"How long will it take?"

Tom had a USB flash drive in his hands. "This is my own decoding program. A file this size . . . should probably take about an hour."

"You lot had better get back. I'll get started." Frank said. "But one way or another, I want some answers."

Zoe followed Tom and Aneisha into the lift, almost immediately noticing that Dan wasn't there. Sighing, she walked out of the lift before it closed, grabbed the front of Dan's jacket and practically shoved him into the lift with them.

Zoe could hear Mr Flatley talking to Roly, leaning against the wall as he watched a video on a tablet and drank some kind of thick shake, as they walking down the hallway. "Well, then. I'm about to get the IQ test underway. You, um . . . You're not joining us, Roland?"

"You said to exercise the old brain matter. So I'm thinking about sit-ups." Roly replied.

Mr Flatley walked off without another word and Zoe's brow furrowed. She'd forgotten about that.

"Forgotten about what?" Tom asked.

Zoe flushed. She hadn't realised she'd spoken aloud. "You know that online IQ test? The one to find the brainiest person in Britain? Yeah. That's what I forgot about."

"Not like you to forget something." Dan muttered, still struggling with the wooden box.

"Oh, for God's sake." Zoe said. "Give it here."

Dan passed her the box and the screwdriver, watching as she started jiggling the screwdriver inside the lock. "I'd like to see you . . ." he trailed off as the box popped open and Zoe handed him back the now open box. "You're welcome."

Because they were in a crowded corridor, Dan couldn't say what he wanted to say to her. He wanted to tell her how incredible she was, how he thought she was the most beautiful and amazing human being to ever walk the face of this earth. But he bit his tongue and hoped she could see what he felt in his eyes.

While Dan's internal battle raged on, Tom reached into the box and pulled out a corked test tube, filled with thick dark green liquid with a label that said 'G.S' on it. He took the cork lid off and sniffed it – it smelled kind of tangy, but the label confused him. What the hell was 'G.S'? He wondered whether G.S could be the scientist they heard on the recording they found the first time they went down the hatch, or maybe it was his test subject, Agent Walker. Immediately, Tom rode Agent Walker off. It made more sense for it to be the scientist.

"What on earth is G.S?" Zoe asked. Tom shrugged as Lady J bumped into him from behind as she tried to squeeze past him and perform some ridiculous dance move, almost causing him to drop the test tube.

"You and your stupid dancing." Tom muttered, bending over to pick up the lid he'd dropped.

Lady J turned on him. "Is you dissing me? Is you dissing me in front of my crew?"

Great, Tom thought, hiding the test tube behind his back as he backed up. Two girls I've upset today. First Zoe, now Lady J. Next Aneisha's going to hit me over the back of the head for breathing.

Zoe and Dan exchanged looks of amusement as Tom continued backing up as Lady J advanced on him. He only stopped walking when he ran into Roly. Lady J stopped walking, but she continued talking as Tom averted all eye contact with her and tried to hide the fact that he was hiding at test tube full of some unknown (possibly dangerous, coming from KORPS) liquid behind his back. "'Cos I will take like this, fly it around the world, double diss back in your face big time. You get me?"

Tom just stared at her, unsure of whether answering would be a good idea or not, if her moods were anything like Zoe and Aneisha's could be.

"Well, do you?" Lady J asked.

"No, not really." Tom told her.

"I iz watching you, Tupper." Lady J said, walking off with her crew. Dan and Zoe watched her go, biting back grins of amusement until Tom pulled the test tube out from behind his back, only to find it empty. "It's gone. It must have evaporated."

"Nice one, Einstein." Dan said sarcastically, giving Tom a thumbs-up. He still wasn't entirely happy with Tom after the way he'd acted outside the hatch.

Before Zoe had time to debate whether she'd have to break up an argument between the blonde and the brunette, Aneisha ran up, her long black hair flying out behind her as she ran. "Guys, Frank's managed to open the bunker file."
