It wasn't seeing Hans that made the situation worse. It was seeing him as he reached his arm around Elsa, pulling her closer, that was the thing that really made Anna's blood boil. The man had hardly known the girl for five minutes and he was already doing everything and anything to keep the two connected in some way. "It doesn't help that he's your ex fiancé.." Anna thought, her mind focusing back on all the times Elsa had mentioned the Southern Kingdoms and wondering how she still hadn't made the connection to it possibly being the man. "I'm such fucking idiot.." she said under her breath as she watched the two walk around the castle, Anna close behind with a guard for Han's as well.
When they had reached the second floor of the castle, Han's showing off all the amazing art and rooms they possessed along the way, Anna realize she could have stopped this wedding from happening years ago. If she had married Hans like she was supposed to, Elsa would have never received the option. But then again if Anna had married the man she would have never met Elsa. The ending to this story remained the same, with Anna unhappy while Hans got what he wanted. Much to her distaste.
"So Elsa...do you have any siblings?" Hans asked, his eyes casting over to Anna for a second as the girl thought. Anna knew he recognized her, how could he not? She made sure to avoid his eyes whenever he could, glaring at him all other times. "As you know I have twelve brothers...but you would be the oldest if you had any correct?" he asked, sending her a kind smile. Anna wanted to slap the smirk right off his face.
"I am an only child, unfortunately..it would be nice to have a sister or a brother to spend time with." Elsa charmed back, the fakeness in her voice shook her lover right down to her core.
"Lucky you, you'll get to have twelve new brothers very soon." Hans laughed and Elsa nodded her head, saying something about how excited she was, although both her and Anna knew she wasn't.
The group was silent as they continued their tour of the castle, listening to Hans as he spoke about everything recent and past about it. It came to light that none of his brothers actually lived at the castle anymore, minus his oldest who would be King of the Kingdom as soon as his Father passed. Hans had stayed here waiting for Elsa but planned to return to Adlai, the news surprising Anna who had believed the two would be staying here. The castle was so ridiculously empty it only made sense to have them here, seeing as it could accommodate twelve men and their baby brother along with the staff and the King and Queen. But Hans was persistent and Anna watched on as he continued to talk about their life in Adlai as if it were going to happen tomorrow.
They arrived at Elsa's room, the guards opening up the doors and placing her things inside quickly as Hans held the girl's hands lovingly. Anna waited by the door, trying to avoid the two as the Prince spoke.
"I am sure you are very tired from your journey...please allow yourself time to relax...tomorrow morning I can show you around the kingdom if you like?" Hans asked, Elsa nodded her head politely. "Great, my staff will assist anything you need...now if you'll excuse me my dear.." he brought Elsa's hands up and kissed each of them before leaving her, a faint blush rising to her face as they said their goodbyes. Anna wanted to kiss over the spots the man had placed his rough lips on; marking her skin these past months wasn't enough. Clearly Elsa had already forgotten how she felt.
Hans smiled brightly at his future wife, waving goodbye as he walked down the hallway. Elsa waved as well and retreated into her room without even giving Anna a second glance, being the good princess she was supposed to be. Anna stared at the closed door for some time, sighing heavily as she realized how desperately she wanted to be on the other side. But Elsa belonged to someone here; her presence was something that needed request. Something Anna was going to have to wait for.
Anna wasn't sure how long she had stood there at the door, staring at it pathetically like a lost pup, but the next thing she knew she was being tapped on the shoulder. Turning Anna looked up only to readjust her view and stare right into the eyes of a guard. The guard who was at Han's side. He was a short looking man, of average features that didn't stand out. His hair was brown and cut thin, barely covering the top of his head, and when he smiled his teeth looked terribly misplaced that hinted of a incident that shaped them that way. Still the man smiled, feeling important as he spoke to Anna.
"Hello Miss...I am to show you to your room as well, Prince Han's knows only one guard for the Princess is exhausting so I will be sharing the task along with others..." he stated, whoever he was, walking towards where the room would be. Anna stayed in her spot for a moment, turning back to see if Elsa would open the door to her room then. "No worries Miss...We have plenty of guards to look after Princess Elsa!" He added as he saw her hesitation. Anna nodded, following the man regardless of her want to see the fair woman. Elsa would have to be dealt with later.
The two of them walked all the way to the other side of the castle, on the lower floor. There a room was made for Anna, surprisingly just as luxurious as Elsa's only a tad bit smaller in size. Whatever small belongings Anna had, such as her tent and her supplies, were placed to the side of the room. "Prince Han's also wishes to see you….to speak about you're journey, once you are comfortable Miss..." the nameless guard stated, surprise filling him as Anna nodded her head. She knew this was coming, knew he was going to discuss about her new life, how she left him years ago. She didn't want to waste another moment, especially for Elsa's sake.
"I'm ready."
Hans was sitting in one of his meeting rooms, decked out in several different colors of brown as Anna entered the room with the guard slowly behind. At first she wondered why he was there, wondering if he needed to be present during all of Hans' meetings. But then he announced the girl, formally as Elsa's Knight, leaving the two alone as the door shut tight. Silence fell across the room, eerie as the man glared at Anna. She expected him to be rude, mean, and angry at her; to send for her parents or even kick her out of the castle. What she hadn't expected was that smile as it came to his features, ear to ear.
"Anna it's been too long.." Hans said, looking at Anna as if she had been an old friend. "How have you been..?" he asked, standing up from his seat. She faltered for a second, caught of guard by his charm and coolness in the situation, quickly shaking her head. She had to remember the bigger picture. Hans walked over to a table, grabbing a glass and lifting it up into the air. "Drink?" he asked, frowning as the girl shook her head no. "More for me than.." he laughed, pouring himself a glass of wine.
The sound filled the air, echoing in the large room until the glass was full of the dark maroon colored drink. Hans lifted it to his lips, sipping it lightly and then bringing it out so he could observe it.
"Amazing how people can change isn't it…years ago you were a mangy little girl..a terrible example of your kingdom and now.." he trailed off, "Well honestly you haven't changed..not one bit..just aged and switched kingdoms is all.".
Anna clenched her fists together, "What do you want Hans?"
Hans chuckled, lightly, "Oh Anna, isn't it obvious..?" he silenced as she held up her hand.
"I'm not here to talk about the past with you Hans...I have a different life now." she spat, her hostile ways as typical as always to the man. "I only came here for Elsa, not because I wanted to save our dead marriage contract..or something." She added.
Hans' eyebrows furrowed, a delicious evil grin gracing his face. "Just what I was thinking.." he laughed, confusion quickly hitting Anna as he walked over to the windows. Twirling the wine glass in his hand all the way. He stared out at it for some time, obviously deep in thought. "Elsa doesn't need to know about us..the past or any of the shit you put me through..although it could be beneficial in my case." He said, eyeing how Anna glared at him. "I see that temper really never did..go away."
Anna bit her lip, "I can see neither did your arrogance."
Hans sighed, folding his arms, expertly grasping the wine glass as well. "I'd watch your tone Miss Anna..if I were you…" he warned, taking a step forward. "A little birdie told me you have gotten into quite a lot of trouble on your adventure..." Hans started to say, causing Anna to wonder who had honestly passed on that knowledge. Praying it wasn't Henrik. "I expect you to behave while you are here in my Kingdom Anna...no kicking and punching allowed here...we typically use words and are very civilized...I know that can be hard on you." his words sounded as if he were purposefully trying to hurt Anna, hardly making a dent in her rough feature. "If I should have any trouble with you here...I will alert your Kingdom Anna..or worse CalonCoast.." he warned, "I have a new life now...Elsa is going to be my wife and if you harm her in any way..I have every right to throw you to the very prison you've known most of your life."
"Harm her?", Anna snapped her hand on the hilt of her sword. "I only protect Elsa...I have been protecting her for the past months...unlike you who couldn't even make it out of your castle to come see her!" she spat, earning a surprised look from the man. He took another step closer, as if analyzing her and her actions.
"I'm glad to see you take your job seriously.." Hans emphasized on the last word, cocking an eyebrow at Anna, making the girl shake for the first time since arriving at their meeting. "Well…you just keep 'protecting' Elsa but I hope you remember that I belong to her..." he said in a sultry voice, making Anna sick as he walked past her. He leaned down, practically pressing his lips to her ear. "And she is mine...understood"
She wanted nothing more than to clench her fist, swing and slam it into the man's face. She was sure she would have knocked a few teeth clean out of his mouth. But Anna nodded, chewing the inside of her cheek, picking her battle. With a snap of his fingers Anna could be thrown out of the kingdom, out of her title, away from Elsa.
Hans seemed pleased with her agreement, nodding his head as he took a step back from her. "Good..now then, I have a lovely evening prepared for my wife and I..I suggest you worry about unpacking your bags and staying out of our way." Hans sighed dreamily, acting as if he were smitten with the girl. He snapped his fingers and the doors of the room opened wide as two guards stomped inside, showing Anna the way out. She went without a fight, eyes glued to the doorway, her mind trying to focus on Elsa.
"Anna.."
The guards stopped and Anna turned, staring at the man harshly.
"I do hope you don't take it personally..I won't be allowing your presence at our wedding." Hans said, fixing the cuff of his coat. "It wouldn't be right…a misfit being in with the royals.." he laughed, "I'm sure Elsa agrees.". With that the man excused her once more, waving his hands at the guards to take her away. Anna watched him the entire way out of the room, fighting with herself to not say a word to the man even as the doors slammed shut.
"Get going!" one of the guards yelled, pushing the girl forward. She stumbled, falling across the hallway and catching herself on the wall, hands hitting it with a loud smack. She turned to see the two guards giggling amongst each other like children, bullying the inferior child. She stared at them for some time, swallowing her anger as her eyes practically burned a hole through their skin. The one who pushed her smiled, "You heard the Prince..to your room misfit..we will watch Elsa for now." He barked. "Hans said no trouble from you otherwise.."
"I am sure she quite understands Jofiel..."
Anna turned to see the same awkward looking guard from before, giving the other guards a dirty look. Matching Anna's grumpy glare. Both guards exchanged looks, the guard Jofiel and the awkward guard whom Anna still didn't know his name. Jofiel looked as if he could smash the awkward guard to pieces with a single swing of his fist, still the man stood proudly between them and Anna. In all his bravery Anna glanced down, seeing his fists quake. He was frightened, very obviously so, yet he was standing up for her.
"Such a good guard eh?" Jofiel mocked, rolling his eyes, and returning to his post at the door with the other guard.
The awkward guard smiled, looking victorious as he turned towards Anna. "Now then..let's not cause trouble Miss..I'll be protecting Elsa this evening, go have a rest..she will be fine." The guard soothed, giving her his warmest smile. If the day had been any kinder to Anna she might have appreciated his kind actions, especially when he stuck up for her. Instead she ripped herself from the wall she was so desperately hanging on, and thundered down the hallway towards her room. Her mind in a whirlwind of emotions, ranging from her frustrations with Hans to her bitterness she felt towards Elsa. She could clearly hear the guards snickering about her, calling her a untamed beast. All doing little to help the situation.
When she found her room she didn't hesitate to slam it shut. She glanced about the room, trying to find something to barricade the door with. Eventually she picked a small chair that was next to a mirror, dragging it across the floor and placing it under the handle. She didn't want any visitors to bother her, especially…
"Elsa.." Anna breathed out, her heart rate slowing as the situation came tumbling down. She found her legs grow weak, her body slowly giving in on her, and she fell against the bed as she closed her eyes. "Damn it.." she cursed, wishing she hadn't allowed them to boss her around so. Making her return to her room to wait for Elsa, whenever that may be. "What else could I have possibly done?" Anna thought, remembering how the girl went into the room without her. For a small moment she wondered if she could go to the girl now and just see her for a second, a moment if anything. That thought quickly leaving her head as she recalled Hans warning and the way he practically demanded she stay out of their way that evening. Anna wondered if Elsa would agree, wishing the same thing.
"Augh..!" Anna growled, covering her eyes in her frustration. She was tired of thinking, tired of hurting and extremely tired of Hans and his stupid kingdom of the Southern Isles. Tired of everything, Anna did the only thing she could think of doing at a time like this. She rolled over, pressing her head into one of the soft pillows, and fell asleep.
Elsa couldn't breathe as the girl placed heavy kisses along her neck, body pushing up and into her as she moaned out her name. "Anna.." she sighed, watching through hooded eyes as the girl lowered and kissed along her stomach, nipping at the skin there. Her hands were raking down upon her legs and sending waves of pleasure ripping through her as she felt the girl slowly pull her legs apart. Kisses lined the inside of her thigh and she brought her hand down to her head, practically pulling at the girl's hair as she hovered over her. "Anna please..." Elsa whispered as she felt her hot breath, looking down to see the girl biting her lip evilly.
Anna pressed a kiss there once and Elsa shot her hand up to bite at her fingers, surely drawing blood. "Anna..." she gasped once more as the girl brought her tongue down..
"Miss Elsa?" a voice called from the door, knocking softly as she laid there in bed. Eyes tore open and she sat up quickly, still groggy from her dreams. "Did..." She started to say, questioning the noise and if it really had just sounded.
She was a mess upon her arrival, needing to feel Anna on her skin the moment she closed the door of her room. With each step that she took away from the door, her heart felt heavier and heavier until it felt like it was going to burst as she sat upon the bed. She wasn't sure how long she stared at the door, praying Anna would break the rules as she always did and come inside regardless of the questions that may be asked from it. It had been only a day, really two if you counted the hurtful feelings of the night before, since they last kissed. Since they last touched even or fell upon each other in bed, making Elsa's body scream in her sudden withdrawal. Before she knew it her body grew exhausted and she was nearly asleep, her imagination getting the best of herself. Actually believing the girl was in the room with her. Their relationship taking the final plunge it had been gracing over for weeks.
The door knocked again and Elsa sighed, someone was indeed there. Just as she rose from the bed and started to walk towards the door, another knock sounded and the girl quickened her steps. Reaching out with her left hand, she turned the knob and opened it slowly. There stood a guard, smiling proudly. "Hello Miss...the Prince would like to have you join him for dinner." he smiled, waiting for the woman to reply.
"Of course...just a minute.." Elsa said and closed the door quickly, satisfying in the way the guard looked taken aback. She went to the mirror and checked her hair for any strands that had fallen loose, unable to keep her mind from Anna. How the girl felt on her skin, how she kissed her in the dark of the night, and how she looked so terribly jealous today as Prince Hans hands fell everywhere the girl's hands had been the last few days. She would make sure to see her, after her dinner with Hans, before this all continued. She needed to see Anna, somehow.
The hallways were quiet, leaving Elsa's mind to wander as she walked along with the guard. "Where is Anna...?" she thought, looking down each hallway as the girl never arrived. Her promise was loud in her ear, making Elsa press firmly against her fingers in frustration. "I understand this is all...so much..but.." she thought, thinking of the terrible way the girl looked that morning. "But this is so hard for me too..." she breathed, earning a look from the guard as he turned.
"Did you say something Miss?" he questioned and Elsa smiled, waving her hands.
"I'm sorry, just clearing my throat." she answered back, praying it was an acceptable answer. Much to her surprise and happiness, the man nodded and they continued. She didn't have the energy to explain herself to him.
When they arrived at the dinning room, Elsa looked at the large table that seemed to stretch for miles. The table was clearly meant for the large family that used to live here, only seating the two as she saw Hans sitting at the edge of it. She threw the man one of her biggest smiles she could muster as he rose from his seat, offering her one of her own.
"I hope I'm not coming on too strong by asking you to eat with me?" Hans laughed, smiling as the girl shook her head. The table was filled with food, ranging from meat to fruits to even dairy and sweets. Elsa picked out a few fruits, the strawberries being her favorite, something she hadn't eaten in the time as Anna and her had traveled, while Hans picked out a few similar delicacies as well. "Wine?" Hans offered, pouring his own when he saw the girl refuse. There were one too many times that she had lost herself to the toxic drink; tonight would not be one of those nights.
"Will your brothers ever return to the Southern Isles?" Elsa asked, curiously as they sat eating their meal. She knew how to talk to these kinds of royals, mentioning anything that had to do about them, their kingdom or their family was the best way to get the conversation going and the awkwardness to leave.
Hans smiled and she saw him play with a piece of fruit, "They will be back for the wedding...but typically they don't stay long if they do visit at all.." he trailed off, seeming distant for a moment. "But you should meet all of them then, they are very eager to meet you.." he admitted, trying to sound as genuine as possible.
"I'm very excited..." Elsa lied, her eyes coming down to eye her own food. Suddenly the talk of the wedding made her appetite go away.
"So Elsa, how was it?" Hans asked, his eyes burning into her.
"How was what?"
"Your adventure with your guide...was it exciting; did you have any grand adventures?"
"Well..."
"Oh do please tell me, I would like to know what my fiancé has been doing this whole time?"
"Falling in love with the girl of her dreams for starters..." Elsa thought, practically beating the image of Anna smiling at her out of her brain. "It was hardly an adventure actually...just a lot of horse riding and long discussions," Elsa admitted, lying about all the times the girls had actually been in trouble. He didn't need to know about those times nor about the times she spent so close with Anna. "I think the most exciting thing that did happen was we got to see an island.".
At the sound of the island, Hans' eyes perked up. "Did you get to see a mermaid?" he asked and Elsa smiled, unsure if he was teasing or not. Truthfully she did, but after the encounter they had she would be just fine with not seeing a mermaid for some time.
"Unfortunately no..." Elsa once again lied, watching as the man shrugged his shoulders.
"That's too bad...I saw one once, but it was at a distance.."
"A mermaid?"
"Yes...but I was young and she didn't frighten me as much as the other men on the ship, mermaids are a rarity and I count myself very lucky to have seen one so close and not be harmed as well." Hans words seemed genuine, making Elsa wonder if that specific mermaid they had met had been a feistier kind. But knowing the age Hans spoke of, the distance and the situation, she was sure it would have been worse if given the chance. "I've always wanted to see a mermaid again, of course at the same distance..they can be cruel I've heard." he added, eyes watching Elsa as she nodded.
"Very cruel." Elsa breathed out, remembering once more about their mermaid they faced.
Hans gave her a curious look, "You speak as if you've seen one before?". Elsa shook her head. "Not even once?"
"No, just stories.." she laughed, eyes falling down to her fingers.
Hans seemed to delight in this fact, "Stories...that reminds me, a little birdie told me you like books Miss Elsa?" Hans asked, laughing as the girl unintentionally perked up.
"I don't suppose you have a library?" Elsa questioned, smiling as the man shook his head yes.
"I had your room placed right next to it...I can show you after dinner?" he offered. His words were tempting and Elsa immediately remembered the girl she had been searching for earlier, knowing that using the time to look through the library would delay the time she had with finding her. But as the man smiled, trying his best to please the woman, Elsa couldn't find it in herself to say no.
"I would love to Hans..."
