Author's notes
Alright I got my little notes on how I want the last (not saying how many they are :P ) chapters to go. Oh and I totally just realized that my last chapter hit the 100,000 word mark so I celebrated with a little Champaign (yes I am the legal age). LET'S DO THIS THING! TWINS BASED
DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING; Not Higurashi or its characters or anything that deals with the anime!
Dr. Irie hang up the phone. He cursed under his breath, "Don't they know how hard it is to create a false autopsy report?" He walked out of his office and noticed a few strange men in janitor uniforms near his office as he left. He didn't pay them any attention, that is until he realized they were following him. Shit! Don't tell me they are working with the bad guys! He hurried his pace to the car, trying to seem as inconspicuous as possible. He turned the key in the ignition but the engine did not turn over. He cursed his luck and tried again. Once again the car did not start.
As he was about to try a third time he heard a tapping on his door's window. Trying to calm his fast heart beat, Dr. Irie rolled down the window and looked at the men who were following him, "May I help you with something?"
The man who tapped on the glass smiled, "Yes, I'm sorry to bother you but I seem to have a headache that simply wont go away, even though it's been three days now."
Dr. Irie managed a smile, "Well my shift ended just a minute ago and I really do have to get going. I suggest you go inside and get checked by an on-staff doctor although I am pretty sure what you have is a simple migraine."
The man chuckled, "You don't seem to get it doctor." He pushed aside his jacket and Dr. Irie gulped when he saw the handle to a pistol, "I've been having this damn headache for three days and it seems that you know your stuff." He pulled out the gun and pointed it at Irie's head, "How about you get out of the car and we'll have a proper check up, hmm?"
Dr. Irie raised his hands slowly, "Okay, okay. No need to be irrational here."
He reached forward and heard the man pull back the trigger, "What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
Dr. Irie pointed his trembling hand to the button that unlocks the door that happened to be next to the ignition, "I need to press the button to unlock the car. If I don't do that and opened the door the alarm will go off and everyone will notice us."
The man thought it over and nodded, "Okay but do it slowly and if you try anything funny I'll blow your brains out."
Dr. Irie nodded and slowly reached over. Instead of pressing the button he turned his key once more. Luckily this time the engine turned over and the roar of it startled the man. Before he could pull the trigger Dr. Irie had the car in reverse and pulled back. He grimaced as he heard the man shriek in pain as his arm got stuck in the window and the speed of the car snapped his bone. The gun fell onto the floor of his car but he didn't pay attention, he put the car in drive and began to drive away as fast as he could.
Not even five minutes later did he saw a white van chasing him from his rearview mirror. Dr. Irie cursed his luck and sped up, zooming down the streets and towards the Sonozaki estate. He nearly drove his car off the road when he heard gun shots, "They're trying to kill me!?" He did his best to maneuver but doing that in a two lane street was easier said than done. He looked ahead and saw the turn that would lead him to the Sonozaki house. A few more bullets were fired and Dr. Irie instinctively ducked as his back windshield was shattered and the bullet sailed right into his arm.
Dr. Irie screamed in pain and tried to remain in control of his car but failed to do so. He slammed on the breaks as he turned his steering wheel as fast as he could. His car skidded and because of the momentum it broke through the guard rails and rolled down the rocky hill of the turn. Dr. Irie was tossed about in his car as it finally rolled on its back and stopped moving. He heard brakes being slammed on and prayed that the men wouldn't look for him.
He distantly heard a voice say, "Boss should we see if the doctor is still alive?"
The boss shook his head, "No. As soon as his windshield broke his car went out of control. If that bullet didn't kill him, that crash sure as hell did. Now come on we have to get back to the major and kill this Furede brat."
Dr. Irie waited until he heard the van speed away before attempting to move. He looked down and the simple movement caused him to grunt in pain. He could already tell that several ribs were broken and a whisper of fear crossed his brain as he worried that his ribs might penetrate his lungs. He shook his head, "No. I need to think of others now." He looked at his legs and sighed with relief, they were not broken as far as he could tell. He looked outside his front windshield and began to painstakingly crawl out of his car. Once out Dr. Irie grabbed his front bumper and got up to his feet. When he tried to take a step forward on his right foot he immediately fell on the ground with a shout of pain. He looked down, his ankle was swollen and when he tried to move it caused him extreme pain. Dr. Irie sighed and tried to get on his feet again, putting very little weight on it.
Dr. Irie began to limp away from the wreck and crawled up the hill, knowing that was faster than walking down it and trying to find another road. Once there he limped along the side of the road for ten minutes before he finally found what he was looking for, a payphone. His staggering gait increased as he hurried to the phone. He didn't bother putting in change, he simply dialed 911.
A man who Dr. Irie did not recognize came on, "This is 911 what is the nature of your emergency?"
Dr. Irie tried to sound as calm as possible, "I need to talk to officer Ooishi please. This is very urgent."
The man sighed, "One moment please."
Dr. Irie waited impatiently until he heard Ooishi's voice, "Hello who is this?"
"Ooishi it's me, Dr. Irie. I just got shot off the road. I think they know where Rika is."
Ooishi's cigarette fell out of his mouth, "What!? That's impossible!" He growled, "Dammit, where are you? I'll get an ambulance there as soon as possible."
Dr. Irie told Ooishi his location. He coughed into his hand and his eyes widen as he saw blood, "Hurry one of my lungs have been punctured."
Ooishi cursed, "Okay just hold on. Who attacked you?"
Dr. Irie groaned in pain but still answered, "I don't know. There were three of them although one of them said that they had to get back to the major so there's more of them out there. They were in a white van and that was all I could make out." Another cough racked his body, "Hurry please. Tell Kasai to head to the Sonozaki estate as soon as possible."
Ooishi nodded and took down notes, "I will. I need to hang up now and alert everyone. Stay safe for a bit the ambulance already left."
Dr. Irie nodded and heard the phone hang up. He let go of it and leaned against one of the pay phone's walls. He slid down and sat making sure his swollen ankle didn't touch the floor. He stared up at the ceiling and panted in pain, "God I hope Kasai gets to the estate before they do." He looked down at his bloody hand, "Stay safe everyone. I'm sorry I was not more useful to you." With that Dr. Irie closed his eyes and lost subconsciousness.
Kasai heard the phone in his kitchen ring. He walked over and picked it up, "Who is this?"
"It's Ooishi Kasai. Get to the Sonozaki estate now, there are people in a white van heading there to kill-" Kasai didn't wait for Ooishi to finish his sentence. He slammed the phone down and grabbed his two rifles and ammunition. He ran out of his apartment with his guns. He didn't even pay attention to the civilians who screamed and ran away when they saw him. The only thing he was concerned with was getting to the estate before those bastards.
Kasai threw his guns into the car and began speeding to the estate. He kept his eyes out for a white van but didn't encounter one, and he wasn't sure if this relieved or worried him. It took five minutes to get to the estate when it usually took half an hour. He honked the horn several times as he pulled into the drive way. He sighed in relief when he saw Keiichi and Satoshi come out of the door with their bats at the ready as everyone else looked out of the window.
He barked at the boys, "Get everyone to the cells! NOW!" The two instantly understood, they ran back into the house as Shion and Mion came out.
Shion looked at her body guard, "Kasai! You're here, so you got my message?"
Instead of answering he got out the two rifles from his car and tossed one to Shion, "They know that we're hiding Rika. They are on there way here." He glanced at Mion, "Go with the others. Me and Shion will hold them off here as long as we could."
Mion shook her head, "There's no way in hell am I leaving Shion alone!"
Shion petted Mion's head as if she were five years old, "Don't worry sis I will be just find." She smirked, "Besides you're not the only one who knows how to kick a person's ass."
Mion frowned and Kasai added, "I was the one who taught her how to fight Mion. If she does get in trouble however I will protect her. Now go."
Mion's frown did not go away but she still nodded and ran inside the house. Kasai looked at Shion, "What were you saying about that message?"
Shion explained, "Well me and sis were going to go to Rika's house and talk to Dr. Irie but this white van almost ran me over but sis save me and we ran back to the house as fast as we could and I called you and I was about to call Ooishi but you showed up and told us to go to the cells so I"
Kasai held up his hand to stop Shion's explanation, "I understand." He looked at the girl he sworn to protect the day she escaped that damn academy, "Are you ready for this?" Shion nodded. Kasai cocked his gun, "Good."
No sooner had the word exited his mouth did the sound of speeding cars reach Shion and Kasai's ears. They looked in front of them and saw three vans speeding toward him. Shion aimed at the middle van but with the shake of Kasai's head she lowered the barrel reluctantly. The vans screeched to a stop in front of the two and fifteen people got out of the vans. A man wearing a different outfit than the others stepped forward and lit a cigarette as if the two people in front of him didn't have rifles in their hands. He looked at the two and blew out smoke before saying, "Hello there. I am Okonogi and I assume you know why I am here?"
Shion cocked her gun, "Yeah we do and I suggest you forget it! There's no way you're getting your filthy hands on Rika!"
Okonogi laughed at the threat and made a gesture to his subordinates, "Do you truly believe you can take all of us out? You may injure, or even kill one or two men, but I'll simply bury your bodies in bullets by then."
Kasai looked at all the men and then at Okonogi, "I have sworn to protect Shion Sonozaki and I will not allow anyone to hurt her." Before anyone could react, Kasai opened fire at the men. Immediately moans of pain reached everyone's ears as three men fell to the ground. Shion followed quickly but instead of aiming to kill like Kasai she shot at the men's legs. The two were able to incapacitate seven men and kill two before their bullets ran out. Cursing Kasai dropped his rifle and fought with three men in hand to hand combat while Shion resorted to swinging her rifle like a club at the other two.
Okonogi just watched with little interest but when Shion and Kasai knocked out one man each he lifted his pistol and fired off a round before pointing the gun at Shion, "Now now, I think that's enough." He looked at Kasai who had one of his men in a sleeper hold, "Put him down before I splatter her pretty little brains all over the floor. Kasai did as he was told and was awarded with a hit to his head that brought him to his knees.
Kasai looked at Okonogi, "You truly are pathetic, all of you. You couldn't handle two people with guns even though there are fifteen of you." He sneered, "You didn't even open fire at us as we attacked your allies."
Okonogi shrugged, "There are more men heading this way so I don't give a fuck if a few are killed." He pointed his gun at Kasai now, "What I do care about, however, is where Rika Furede is, so where are you hiding her in this big mansion?"
Kasai shook his head, "I will never tell you."
Okonogi clicked his tongue, "What a shame, and I was willing to spare her life." He took a few steps towards Shion and gestured to the ground with his gun, "On your knees bitch." Shion growled under her breath but did as she was told. Okonogi placed his gun on her head and looked at Kasai, "Still don't know where she is?"
Kasai looked at Shion and then snarled at Okonogi, "How dare you threaten Shion Sonozaki's life!? If you truly want to know where Rika is why don't you try to beat it out of me?"
Okonogi gave a cruel smile, "Ah but this is much more fun." He lifted his pistol and hit Shion's head with the butt end. Kasai could do nothing but watch as Shion fell forward and with a sickening whack, passed out on the floor.
Kasai glared at the man, "I'LL KILL YOU, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Kasai's outburst surprised Okonogi for only a moment, but the moment was all Kasai needed. He whirled around and head butted the man who was guarding him. When he fell to the ground knocked out Kasai whirled back around and ran at Okonogi, efficiently tackling him and causing the gun to fly out of his hands. He sat on top of Okonogi and let loose a serious of hard punches, each one aimed at the bastard's face.
After Kasai heard a satisfactorily crack of Okonogi's nose breaking, he heard a click of a gun being cocked. He looked behind him and saw one of the uniformed men holding a gun to his face. Kasai growled at it but let the man whack him on the head and like Shion, he slumped on the ground unconscious.
Meanwhile in the Sonozaki estate
Mion was panting as she was running to catch up with everyone. When she finally caught up she saw that the two boys still had their bats. While they were running to the cells she checked the ammunition in her duel pistols. Satoko saw the guns and gasped, "You don't think we'll need to use those do you?"
Mion grunted, "We just might." They were now in front of the door and Keiichi ran in front of the group to get it open, ushering everyone to head inside. As Mion ran past him distant gunshots were heard. She looked behind her, "Sis."
Keiichi shook his head, "They are alright Mion. Trust me." Mion nodded and the two went in the cells. Satoshi, Rena, and Satoko stared at everything in the torture room as Keiichi and Mion struggled to get the door barricaded. Once done Keiichi jumped when he saw what was in the room, "Wha-what is this?"
Mion looked away ashamed, "This is the torture room. The Sonozakis used this room to punish the wrongdoings of members of the family."
Satoshi looked at Mion, "Do they still use it?"
Rena saw Mion touch her right hand, "Sometimes."
Rena shook her head, "This isn't the time for us to be scared by a couple of torture devices. We need to get to the cells and wait for Kasai and Shion."
Mion nodded and everyone made their ways to the cells. The group besides Rika and Mion gaped at the place, surprised that something this big could stay hidden. Mion ran over to one cell and pointed, "At the end of this cell is a ladder that drops down to a tunnel. If sis and Kasai don't show up in half an hour we follow it to the mountains."
Satoko smiled, "I didn't hold back on my traps so we have to be careful."
Keiichi sighed, "Why doesn't that surprise me?"
The group quieted down and waited. Mion constantly checked her watch and began to pace at the ten-minute mark. After twenty she began to sweat, What the hell are you doing? You should've been here by now. Mion thought she heard a strange tapping noise and looked at her friends, "That might be them. I'm gonna check." She didn't wait for a reply before running to the now barricaded metal door. She leaned in and pressed her ear to the metal door. She heard a strange ticking sound and gasped when she understood what it was. She turned away and sprinted down the stairs, "To the tunnel! NOW!"
The group didn't need to hear her twice. They hurried to the cell and began to climb her ways down. Satoko and Rika went frist, then Rena, and next Satoshi. Keiichi and Mion argued for a moment before Keiichi reluctantly went before her. Mion was halfway down the ladder when she heard the explosion, she cursed under her breath and climbed down faster. As her feet touched the floor a light shined down from above right on her. She squinted up and saw a man in an uniform holding a flashlight in one hand and a cigarette in another. He looked down and yelled, "Hello! My name is Okonogi and you have something that belongs to me!"
Mion yelled back, "You cant have Rika you asshole! If you want her so bad come down here and try to take her away from us!"
Okonogi laughed, "You think you can make threats like that bitch!?" He looked behind him and jerked his head.
Mion had to squint to see what Okonogi was holding but when she recognize the object she screamed, "SHION!?"
Okonogi held Shion's body closer to the hole so Mion and her friends could see her better, "Now do you understand the situation you're in cunt? I'll tell you what, if Rika Furede doesn't come out here like a good little girl this bitch is going to have a little fall."
Mion stared at her twin as she whispered, "Sis."
Rika looked between the twins and took a step forward towards the light. Hanyuu materialized in front of Rika and held her arms out, "No Rika you can't do this, not when we are so close! I-I cant let you let this world slip through your fingers!" Even as Hanyuu made her speech steady tears flowed out of her eyes. Rika sighed and walked through Hanyuu who tried to grab her but it was like she was trying to grab air.
Rika walked into the light and touched Mion's shoulder, "Mii-chan I- I can't let an entire village be destroyed for one person." A tear leaked out of her eye, "I'm sorry."
Mion stared at the little girl. She distantly felt arms circle her and looked behind her to see Rena softly crying into her back. She looked up and screamed at the top of her lungs, "SHION I'M SORRY!" She sobbed as she got on her shaky legs, she had to protect her friends. She staggered into the tunnels out of the light. She looked to her right and saw Rena supporting her, "I-I cant stay here. I can't hear-" As the words left her mouth Mion heard a thud. She screamed, "NOOO!" and whirled around but she didn't see her twin's broken body. She was confused and realized two things, one: the thud was distant so that meant that nobody fell into the hole and two: she could hear sounds of struggling.
Mion didn't dare to hope but she had to see. She walked back to the hole and looked up, Okonogi didn't have light showing down and she couldn't see him in the darkness. The sounds of fighting continued for a minute and light peered down the tunnel. Mion screamed, "KASAI!"
Kasai looked down with a flashlight in one hand while the other hanged limply at his side. He yelled back, "Shion is alright but those bastards escaped!"
Mion sobbed with anew tears, but this time they were ones of relief and happiness. She climbed up the ladder as fast as she could and ran to her twin's unconscious body. She scooped her up and lightly slapped her twin's face, "Shion wake up! Please wake up!"
Shion twitched and her eyes fluttered open. She looked at her sister's crying face and reached up to wipe away the tears, "Sis what's wrong?"
Mion smiled brokenly and buried her face in the junction of Shion's shoulder and neck, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Shion pushed Mion away and looked at her, "What are you talking about?"
Keiichi's head popped up from the hole and explained, "Okonogi threatened to throw you down the hole if we didn't hand Rika over to him."
Shion eyes widen as she looked at her twin, "Yo-you weren't going to do it were you? You weren't going to hand over Rika, were you!?"
Mion shook her head, "No I'm sorry but I-I couldn't."
Shion slapped her, "Don't you ever feel bad about that! You couldn't let those bastards take Rika away so if I had to die to protect Rika then that's that." She pointed at her twin, "So you better stop saying you're sorry because you had no choice."
Mion looked away and whispered, "Okay, I-I understand." She wiped the tears out of her eyes and looked behind her. As her and her twin were talking everyone climbed back up the ladder. Rena was looking at Kasai's arm and Mion's eyes widen as she recognized the bullet wound.
Kasai caught Mion staring and shrugged, "When I got away from the man who was suppose to guard me shot me."
Mion sighed, "Are you going to be okay?"
Kasai nodded, "Everyone is on there way here so I only have to wait for a little bit."
Shion thought for a moment and looked at everyone, "Tell them to go to the mountains when they get here."
Kasai raised an eyebrow and Shion explained, "We can't stay here remember what Okonogi said? He said that there will be reinforcements here soon." She pointed to the cell away from the one that her friends had just exited, "You can stay in there while you wait for help." She looked at her twin, "Do you want to stay here?"
Mion shook her head and hugged Shion, "No way, I'm not leaving you alone until this whole thing ends." Shion nodded and Mion looked at her friends, "You guys ready?"
Keiichi and Satoshi both shook their heads as they gripped their bats. Rena raised her hatchet and said an affirmative. Satoko smiled and nodded, not able to contain her excitement. Rika was the only one to look away, "It is not like we can turn back now."
Shion smiled, "Let's go."
Mion punched Shion's arm lightly, "That's my line."
Shion laughed lightly and everyone climbed down the ladder. They walked down the tunnel, fear and excitement in each one. Everyone anticipated the battle and was sure that fate was on their side. After ten minutes of walking they saw light at the end of the tunnel. Rika whispered, "The real battle has just begun."

Crappy ending I know but trust me, this is what happens in all my stories. I start out really good but when I start doing ending it becomes bad. Ugh!
