When Danny arrived at tuckers he hoped for tuckers sake that this emergency was as big as he said it was or else he was going to be pissed. He loved him like a brother but goddamn if he wasn't the king of bad timing, but if tucker said it was important then he had to go on it, tucker didn't joke about things like this. Little did Danny know that this was a terrible understatement, as he approached the door things were eerily quiet until he heard a loud series bang. He knew that sound, that was a gunshot.
Danny wasted no time bursting through the door with a solid kick that knocked the door right off of its hinges. The first thing he saw was blood, lots of blood, then tucker slumped against the wall. He rushed to tuckers side, he had a split lip and was sporting some nasty bruises and a couple of cuts but then where did the bullet go, Danny wondered while dialing 911.
Before the operator on the other side of the line, he had his answer the bullet wasn't meant for tucker, it had come from him. Danny saw the body of a man he guessed too be in his early twenties with a holes in his chest lying face down on the floor. He looked to see tuckers left hand clutching a gun, now it made sense, okay maybe made sense was a bit of an overstatement, but he was starting to piece together what had happened.
This guy, whoever the fuck he was had come at tucker with a knife, and tucker, being tucker, fought back and eventually shot him. The ambulance siren screeched and pierced the ambient noise of the peaceful suburb. The paramedics rushed to help the two men and police quarantined the scene immediately.
Danny knew that he was going to be taken to the station for questioning, and as much as he could have phased his way out of there in the end it would only cause more problems. He was escorted to a squad car and driven to the police station, it seemed like purgatory to him, no one would tell him anything, not what happened, not if tucker was alright, nothing.
As Danny sat in the station a detective named lira walked up to him, and introduced herself, she was the lead investigator or something, at this point Danny was already pissed at any and all police officers in the immediate area. "Could you please come with me sir, we have a few question we'd like to ask you"
Danny looks at her "I've been here for hours, with no information and now you want me to answer inane questions? How about you answer a couple of mine first you ignorant bitch" he spits at her with venom.
She's taken aback by his outburst "sir I understand your" she begins only to be cut off
"Actually no you don't understand" he barks standing up and getting in her face "if your incompetent fucks of a police force understood anything then maybe one of you fuckers would have given me some basic information. So let's start with you telling me if my best friend is still alive" he shouts at her. Danny was aware of the affect his presence could have on others but usually exercised control over it. Not this time he wanted her afraid, he wanted to make sure she knew that he was not going to be yanked around while they took a fucking doughnut break.
To say that detective lira was afraid of Danny would have been a massive understatement, she was terrified. Just who was this guy that commanded such presence, and what was he capable of, she had seen hardened killers before but he was another breed completely. He sparked such primal terror in everyone around him with an act that with most people would have been little more than a temper tantrum.
Detective lira's mind was in survival mode, her hand subconsciously palming her gun but even with a survival instinct yelling at you to move, when you earned the ire of Daniel masters you shut down. A second seemed an eternity, Danny was now the prime focus of everyone in the station officers and suspects alike. He pulled out a piece of paper and scribbled his number on it "if you actually find anything call me, don't waste my time again"
Storming out of the station Danny looked around and saw no one on the street, Fuck this day he was heading home. Ember was going to be pissed but he knew she'd understand and right now he needed someone to talk to. Walking down an alley Danny found a dark corner and turned intangible before taking off into the night.
As Danny exited the station, detective lira pulled out her phone and dialed a number "we held him as long as we could but he just left"
"That's unacceptable" shouted the voice on the other line
"Just who the hell is this guy" detective lira asked
"I told you, he's been deemed extremely dangerous, but our organization can't take direct action against him"
"Listen girl, I don't like this." Detective lira said "I don't like this, not one bit and I don't know who this guy is or what he did to show up on your radar, but watch yourself there's something off about that kid. I can't put my finger on it but just be careful okay"
"Don't worry lira, I know what I'm doing" said the voice then the line went dead, detective lira let out a sigh and shook her head before putting away her phone. She was glad this day was over.
[Author's note: so not exactly the happy beginning you were hoping for and the future chapters don't inspire much hope either but you know what they say when it rains it pours]
