A/N: Here's the next chapter guy! Hope you like it.
Yetta's POV
A few days later I find myself once again at the grill, since arriving in town I have discovered that this is the best place to gather information without drawing attention to yourself. I have been coming here almost every day alternating between sitting up at the bar, ordering cocktails and sitting at a table in a dark corner with my laptop and a jug of iced-tea or lemonade. Since may first day here I have I have learned a lot about the town and its inhabitants. Most of it is meaningless small town gossip, who's dating who at the high-school, who's in the running for Miss Mystic Falls, plans for the founder's day celebrations coming up in a few weeks, who will win the election when the town votes to elect a new mayor etc. none of these things interest me in the slightest. I had almost given up hope of finding out anything of consequence when last night I overheard a conversation that made all the hours of sitting here listening to meaningless chit-chat worthwhile. So here I am once again at the grill hoping that tonight I will find out more and finally be able to leave this town behind me for good.
"Did you hear about what happened at football practice today? Apparently the quarter-back and the defensive tackle got in a huge fight and aren't going to be able to play in the game on Saturday. Coach Bell is pissed, he threatened to cut them from the team." a blonde girl says flipping her hair over one shoulder.
"That actually happened? I thought it was just a rumour!" her companion a tall brunette says.
"Nope it's true, Mia told me. Apparently they both want to ask Carly to homecoming so they agreed that they would fight and the winner would ask her." the blonde says.
"Ugh of course the stars of the football team are fighting over the head cheer-leader. Could you get anymore cliché?" the brunette asks.
"I know right? It's so ridiculous. So anyway what are you doing on the weekend? My parents are out of town so I'll have the house to myself if you wanna come over and hang-out. We can proof-read each other's college applications and study for finals."
Growing bored with the conversation I block it out and scan the room to see if anyone new has arrived since the last time I checked about half an hour ago. I am about to return my attention to my laptop after deducing that no one new has arrived when the door of the grill opens and Matthew Donovan walks in with a guy I haven't seen before. They walk over to the bar and order coffees before making their way to a table a few metres from mine. The new guy has short dark brown hair, brown eyes and a scowl on his face as he looks at his phone "She said she was going to call me yesterday and I still haven't heard from her! I knew I should never have let her go there by herself! What if they did something to her?" he says.
"Relax dude it's only been a few hours, maybe it's taking a little longer than she thought to get things set up." Matt says.
"Yeah maybe, but she could have called or texted, she knows I don't trust them, and she would have to know that not calling when she's supposed to would make me worry." his friend replies.
"You could always call her." Matt suggests with a shrug.
"She told me not to call her, said she'd call me when everything's in place" he says.
"I'm sure she's fine Tyler, if she said she'd call she'll call. It's only been a few hours, give her another day and if she hasn't called by tomorrow I will drive down there with you to check on her ok?" Matt says.
"Ok. I guess I can wait one more day. It's just frustrating not knowing if she's ok especially when she's bunking with that psychopathic asshole." Tyler says.
I continue to listen to their conversation growing steadily angrier with every bit of information I learn. Deciding I have heard enough I drain my glass and leave a tip on the table for the waitress before making my way outside, climbing into my car and driving home to the manor stopping by the hospital to grab a few bags of blood on the way because I can't be bothered trawling for a victim.
Seeing the sheriffs 'car in the driveway when I get there does little to improve my mood, the last thing I want to do is entertain small town law enforcement, I am about to put the car into reverse and drive away when the sheriff appears at my window with a smile on her face, I hastily throw my jacket over the cooler in the back before winding the window down and forcing my face into a friendly expression. "Good evening Sheriff I hope I haven't kept you waiting too long." I say.
"No, no I just got here. Could you step out of the car please?" she asks.
"Of course." I say turning the car off before climbing out and standing in front of her. "may I ask what this is about?"
"We have a warrant to search your car." she says handing me a piece of paper.
"On what grounds? I don't believe I have violated since arriving in your town." I say.
"We received an anonymous tip off from the hospital that some blood has gone missing, the witness saw a car matching yours leaving the scene at the time." she says.
"By all means." I say gesturing towards the car with a smile.
"Thank-you" she says before stepping past me, I turn to watch her as makes her way to the back of the car and opens the boot peering inside she pulls out the spare wheel and sets it on the ground before checking the recess it was in thoroughly. A few minutes later she returns the wheel to the boot and closes it before climbing into the front seat of the car where she proceeds to search the glove box, foot well and bins again finding nothing. I watch using my years of practice to keep my face blank as she climbs into the back, spots the jacket and pulls it away to reveal the cooler "well what do we have here?" she says to herself before climbing back out of the car and setting the cooler on the hood.
"Nothing illegal about a cooler" I say with a shrug of my shoulders.
"There is if there's an illegal substance in it." she says pulling on gloves and opening the lid to reveal five bags of B-negative. "Well I guess we have found our thief, tell me what are you doing with five bags of blood?" she asks.
"Throwing a party you wanna come?" I ask dropping my fangs and advancing on her with "you can be dessert; I promise to be gentle"
"Stay back." she says holding up a can of what appears to be pepper spray.
"Pepper spray won't save you honey it doesn't Affect vampires the same way it does you humans." I snarl dropping all pretence of friendship and cooperation.
"It's vervain." she says pumping the lid and spraying a fine mist of the liquid on me.
I merely chuckle and wipe the vervain from my face taking the time to lick my fingers afterwards "Oh did I forget to mention last time we met? I bathe in vervain every day, and drink it in my tea. It has no effect on me whatsoever and hasn't done for the last seven hundred and fifty years or so." I inform her with a grin.
"B-but that's not possible" she sputters.
"Maybe not for run of the mill small town vampire. But you see I'm not just any vampire, in fact I'm about as unique as they come. Do you want me to prove it?" I ask. Not waiting for an answer I grab the bottle of vervain spray, remove the lid and drink it in one gulp. "Yummy."
She stares at me in shock for a moment before regaining her composure and pulling out her gun "you may be immune to vervain but you can't survive wooden bullets." she says aiming it at my head.
"You humans, so hung up on doing things the right way, by the book and all that. It's really quite adorable." I say reaching out and jerking the gun out of her hands before she can pull the trigger. "I on the other hand don't have that problem." I add pointing the gun at her foot and pulling the trigger.
She screams in pain and falls to the ground clutching her foot with both hands. "Back up is on the way, you won't get away with this." she gasps between sobs.
I kneel beside her removing the vervain bracelet on her left hand before pulling hear head up and forcing her to look at me. I bite the wrist of my free hand and bring it to her mouth before turning to look at her "Drink" I say my eyes boring into hers.
"No." she says.
"I told you to drink" I say watching with satisfaction as her eyes glaze over and she begins to suck on my wrist swallowing the blood as it drips into her mouth. "Very good." I say pulling my wrist away. "Now when your back-up gets here, tell them it was a false alarm just some kids mucking about. You haven't seen me tonight do you understand?"
"I understand." she says in a dreamlike voice staring up at me with big round eyes.
"Wonderful." I say standing up and pulling her to her feet. "Well I'll be off then." I add with one last smile before grabbing the cooler climbing into my car and driving away.
Klaus's POV
"Does she ever stop crying? All she has done since she woke up this morning is cry! Can't you make her stop?" Caroline asks from her position on the couch in my office.
"She just woke up, she's hungry, she will quiet down when she's had her breakfast." I say putting Hope in her highchair and opening a jar of baby food.
"Well hurry up and feed her then, that noise is beyond annoying." she says covering her ears with her hands to emphasize her point.
"She's a baby Caroline, until they learn to talk crying is how they communicate." I say a slight edge of annoyance creeping into my tone.
"You don't have to get angry with me, I haven't done anything wrong." she snaps getting up from the couch and storming out of the room slamming the door behind her.
I finish feeding Hope and am putting her back in her playpen with her stuffed animals when I hear footsteps approaching the door from the other side. After ensuring she is happily playing with her toys I make my way over to the doo and pull it open hoping to see Caroline standing on the other side. To my disappointment however I find myself face to face with my siblings and Hayley. "Oh it's you." I say stepping to let them into the room.
"Were you expecting someone else?" Rebekah asks.
"No, I wasn't expecting anyone." I reply not wanting to discuss Caroline with them.
"Do you have a minute? We have something to tell you." Elijah says.
"I know you and Hayley are romantically involved I'm not blind. Nor do I have a problem with it as long as it has no adverse effect on Hope." I say.
"Well ummm thanks for that, I'm glad you're ok with it. But that's not what I was referring go." Elijah says.
"Ok. So you two aren't romantically involved?" I ask raising an eyebrow at him.
"No, we are and yes we were going to tell you about it, but our relationship is not what we came here to talk to you about." Hayley says.
"What are you here to discuss then?" I ask.
"Y-you're probably not going to like it." Rebekah comment.
"If that's the case then why are you telling me? Would it not be better to keep it from me if you know I'm not going to like it, whatever it is." I reply.
"In some instances yes that would be correct, but not in this one." Elijah says.
"Would one of you perhaps just tell me what's going on without all the hoopla that goes with it?" I ask.
"Umm…ok well the thing is…you know Yetta right?" Hayley asks.
"My oldest friend, the first vampire I ever turned who came to visit after twenty-five years of separation? Yes, I think I know her." I say sarcastically.
"Ok…well that's good." she says.
"Yes it is, good friends are a wonderful thing, a treasure that should never be taken for granted because they're hard to find and Henrietta is one of the best friends anyone could ask for." I say. "Where is she? I haven't seen her for a while."
"Umm well that's kinda what we wanted to talk to you about." Elijah says.
"What do you mean? Where is she?" I demand.
"She umm…sh-she kind of…isn't here anymore." Rebekah says.
A/N: Muahahahaha I know I'm evil for making you wait for Klaus's reaction. But I have the next chapter half way written so it should be up in the next week or so! Could be sooner if I get reviews!
