Chapter 29: Rescue Missions
(Albus)
I stared in horror as Sirius pointed his wand at himself and cast the Killing Curse. The jet of green light sailed toward Sirius and hit him in the chest before Lucius pulled him out of the way of the way, yelling, "What the hell are you doing Sirius?" as he did so.
Sirius crumpled to the ground. I couldn't tell if he was dead or not but either way he was definitely injured. The spell hadn't exactly hit him full on but it had at least skimmed him.
"You," Lucius growled at me, "you should be the dead one. Stupefy!"
To everyone's surprise, his wand was pointed at Rose and Scorpius, both of whom fell down slumped against each other. I was completely alone now.
"Now for you," Lucius smiled wickedly. Instead of coming at me with his wand he punched me again. More blood trickled down my lip and my nose. I tried to tackle Lucius but he just ended up punching me again. If his plan was to make me too weak to get up he had succeeded.
"Prepare to die Albus Potter," Lucius hissed.
Lucius raised his wand dramatically and I didn't move. Just waited for death.
"Expelliarmus!" came a voice from the shadows. "Get up Albus. This isn't a good time for a nap."
Out from the shadows came my beat and battered brother. James Potter ran a hand through his messy hair and said, "C'mon Al, we got work to do."
(James)
As I fell to my doom all I could think was this isn't the end. I've had several near death experiences and this was not how I wanted to die. At a moment like this most people would accept the fact that they were about to die, whether they liked it or not. However I was not the average person: I was James Potter. And if there was one thing that everyone knew about James Potter is that he refused to give up whether it was an argument or a game or a fatal situation. No, I would fight till the end like a true Gryffindor like my idols, the Marauders.
"You haven't won yet Code!" I shouted.
"Oh, but, James," Code said, "it was never win-lose thing. It was a win-win situation for me."
"So that's it?" I asked. "This was all just a game to you? A game that you thought you'd always win."
"No James, a game that you never had a chance at."
"Well you're wrong!"
Now most people probably wouldn't have a conversation while falling to their doom but- as mentioned before- I'm not the average person. I focused really hard and tried doing something I hadn't attempted for years. Wandless magic.
When I was little I used several forms of accidental magic. One was a little trick I'd learned to scare Albus, lighting his cloak on fire. Just a little bit at the end. The second one that I constantly used was Accio. When I was little and my Mom use to put things on high shelves out of my reach I used Accio to get them. I just really hoped I could still do a wandless summoning charm.
It probably would have been a stretch to try and get something that wasn't in the chamber right now so I tried to summon my wand.
HOLY CRAP! How deep was this pit? What if I hit the bottom? Just then my wand came flying into my hand. "Accio broom!" I yelled hoping that I'd be able to fly out of this pit if I had my broom. Why the hell didn't I bring my broom? I managed to grab onto a mini cliff thing that was on my left side. It wouldn't hold me for long but hopefully until my broom got here.
"You can't hang on forever James," Code taunted me.
"Shut it!" I yelled. "What's your problem anyway? Do you really think you'll find an army of people who want to destroy the world?"
"It won't be destroyed, James. I might let it live. But it will be better. There'll be no more rules. Think about it, James. A world where you could do whatever you want, where you can live your life, or not live it at all if you'd like. You of all people can understand that, right James? And do you know what else? I can make things change for the better. What if we lived in a world where there was no death? James, you could have what you most want. What you've wanted your entire life, your grandparents, James."
I had to admit it all sounded pretty tempting. I mean there was nothing that I wanted more than to have my grandparent, Sirius, and Remus back. Was Ryan Code my archenemy, really right? Was a world without rules better?
"It is, James," Code said in a persuasive voice. "What could be better?"
Just then my broom came flying towards me and I grinned as Code swore. Did I just almost give Code what he wanted?
I jumped on my broom a flew out of the pit- man it was deep!- and once I got to the top I tried to kick Code in the head.
"I can't believe you fell for this," he chuckled.
"What are you talking about," I growled.
"This was a decoy. By the morning your hopes of keeping this world alive will be destroyed. Your idiot brother is in the Forbidden Forest right now fighting with Lucius and your Dad's Godfather. That's right you abandoned your brother again James. You pathetic coward."
If there was one thing I hated it was being called a coward. Without pausing to attack Code I raced out of the chamber of Secrets to save my brother.
(Albus)
I was shocked that my brother was here. Just a couple hours ago he had tried to curse me and now he was standing in front of me offering me his hand.
"C'mon Albus," he said. "I don't' exactly have all day."
"What do we need to do?" I asked taking my brother's hand and letting him help me up.
"Well we need to figure out what's up with Sirius and we also need to duel the two buffoons standing right behind you."
I whirled around to find two figures in black cloaks with their wands raised at James and me. "Stupefy!" one of them yelled.
"Protego!" I countered. I'd gotten pretty good at that spell.
To my shock neither Death Eater fired another spell. They just kept creeping closer and closer. I was nervous and James seemed distracted, like he was thinking of something and was only partially paying attention to what was going on. Before James or I could react one of the Death Eaters jumped on James while the other snatched my wand from my hand. The man on top of James was sitting on James pinning his arms against the ground.
"Get the hell off me," James scrambled frantically but the man wouldn't budge.
Then the other Death Eater- okay I'm going to call them shorty and Biggy from now on- so Shorty jumped on me and pinned me the same way he had pinned James. I saw Biggy pull out a knife and slowly run it down James' arm. It didn't draw any blood but James turned as pale as a ghost.
Shorty pulled out a knife that looked identical to Biggy's. he twirled it in his fingers. "If you're going to kill me I'd prefer you get it over with," I told Shorty. He laughed and replied by running the knife down my arm leaving a deep gash. I cried out in pain. Damn it really hurt getting a knife dragged across your skin.
I saw Biggy give James a cut that was identical to mine. James started freaking out, screaming and crying, and trashing around like a crazy person. I suppose knifes weren't that different from needles, which were James' biggest fear.
Unfortunately for James his right arm was the one that got caught and seeing as he was a right handed that wasn't good. I however was a left handed so it wasn't as bad, getting cut in the right arm.
James continued trashing beneath Biggy but Biggy must've weighed 200 pounds which was a lot compared to James who was probably no more than 100.
I tried thrashing beneath Shorty. To my surprise he toppled off me. I quickly grabbed my wand and casted 'Stupefy' on Shorty. I tried to stun Biggy as well but the he was prepared for my attack.
"Petrificus Totalus," he shouted getting off James.
"Protego Reflecto!" James shouted back. I seriously needed to learn that spell.
The Death Eater looked like they had no idea what was going on when they got hit with his own body bind curse. He fell to the ground.
"Hey," James said as if he just noticed something.
"What?" I asked curiously.
"We made it to the Quidditch Cup!" James started jumping around with absolute joy. He even hugged me which I found weird considering the fact that he was still mad at me, or so I thought.
James was still jumping around when Sirius started to stir. "We better take him back to the hospital wing," I told James gesturing at Sirius who was lying on the floor.
"No way!" James protested. "We can't take him to the hospital wing. We're healing him ourselves."
"What? Why?"
"We can't let any adults find out about Code. Please Albus, don't tell any adults."
Although I completely disapproved with James' plan, I nodded, deciding that he must've had his reasons.
After checking the forest for more Death Eaters and not finding any we towed Sirius back to the castle. It was not easy. It involved the help of all the Marauder's, a few of our cousins, a broom, and a couple handy spells. But finally we dumped the body into the Head Room that I was in earlier today.
"So what do we do with him?" I asked as well stared at the body.
"Well we need to examine it," Rose informed us sounding like the Ravenclaw that she had almost become.
We spent the next hour hours examining the body and finding nothing out of the ordinary. "Oi," Teddy yelled from half way across the room, "I think I found something."
"What is it?" We all asked.
"With the help of this potion I found out that the poison in the 'Avada Kedavra' cancelled out any other spells that were put on Sirius."
"What do you mean 'cured'?" Scorpius inquired.
"Well I'm not quite sure what happened but my theory is that sometime between when Sirius fell through that veil in Harry's fifth year and earlier this year Lucius and or Code used the Imperius curs eon him or something. Only thing is I don't think it was Imperius I think it was… something else."
"The persuasive potion?" James guessed.
"Yeah maybe…" Teddy replied but he sounded doubtful.
"So when he wakes up…" Rose started.
"He'll be cured," Teddy concluded.
"James what happened to your arm?!" Alice asked in alarm.
James looked where she was pointing. "Just a scar. It's fine."
"That's not just a scar, James! It's still bleeding."
James looked down at his arm and noticed it was dropping a small pool of blood. He shrugged. "Oh well."
Alice huffed and did a spell that made him stop bleeding. Rose did the same to me. "Thanks," James and I muttered.
Teddy told us that we had to wait until Sirius woke up until we tried anything. I wasn't very patient when it came to seeing whether my Dad's great grandfather was alive or not. When I voiced this Teddy replied, "Don't worry he's alive. I can feel his heart beat."
We waited a long time before Sirius started to stir. His first reaction was raising his wand and yelling, "I don't' know who the hell you are but if you take one more step towards me I swear I'll hex you. I don't care if you're kids."
"Sirius," James said carefully. "Do you know who I am?"
But Sirius' eyes were no focused on James, rather, they were focused on me. "Harry?" he inquired.
"No I'm his son Albus," I replied.
"Listen Sirius we have a lot of explaining to do," Teddy informed Sirius.
After we explained everything to him, Sirius seemed a little more relaxed.
"So we all agree we are not going to tell anybody about this, right?" Teddy asked though it sounded like he was stating a fact not asking a question.
"Right," Rose, James, Josh, Scorpius, Fred, Sirius, Alice and I chorused.
"Wait," I added, "what's Sirius going to do?"
"He'll can stay with me I suppose," Teddy suggested. "I have enough room in my flat."
"Cool," Sirius said. "We can be roomies."
I smiled. It was good to have the real Sirius back.
A/N: Hey! Are you happy I didn't take so long? Well all I have to say is this is the second last chapter. One more to go! Hallelujah! Isn't that word spelled weirdly. You'd think it's spelled with a... well at least not a 'J' i mean seriously... Anyway I was thinking of posting a questions and answer page just in case anyone is confused. If you have any comments n that idea please review or PM me. Thanks bye!
