Been a while, huh? I recently looked at this fic again, and may actually write more! I had this bit sitting around forever, and figured I may as well upload it :)

~&Q~

She enjoyed the time with Kurt more than she'd expected. Wanda had always been a loner, never really needed company, but she liked Kurt's. In fact, she made a point to go to the church when she knew he'd be there, always feigning ignorance of the schedule she'd basically demanded. Each time she did, they sat and chatted for hours about anything and everything. She learned about him, his family in Germany. His likes, dislikes, wants, needs. The difficulty he went through when Mystique was revealed to be his mother, and the depression he dealt with after his first and only relationship ended the year before.

She opened up to him as well, more than she had anyone else. Told him about her childhood, at least what she remembered, with the Maximoffs. Her strained relationship with her brother and sadly distant relationship with her father. As they talked, she realized that she had so much less than he did. She aspired to nothing, she had very few preferences for anything. She lived day to day, while he had these plans for his life. It made her wonder about what she did want.

When she was little, very young, she remembered her favorite toy was her baby doll. She remembered fantasizing from a young age and playing Mommy. As she thought on it now, it seemed impossible. But it was the only thing she'd ever dreamed of. She was a different person today than she was then. What did she want from her life?

On a daily basis, she wanted more and more to spend time with Kurt. He was so unlike anyone she knew, in more ways than his appearance. And she found the more time she spent with him, the more her feelings changed. It felt odd to admit, but there was a distinct possibility that she was developing a crush on Kurt Wagner.

She had no idea how he felt. They were friends, and both enjoyed each other's company. She always looked forward to seeing him, in fact had started going to school to see him more often. They were discreet, not wanting to bring any attention from their team members.

One day, at school, Kurt had passed a note to her, asking to meet him at their church that evening. She'd spent the whole day thinking about it, and when she got home she went through all her clothing, trying to find the right thing to wear. She felt silly, putting so much thought into going out with a friend. As the time came, she grew anxious, hoping she'd chosen the right outfit, put her look together well.

She had gotten to the church early, then stood outside for a while, not wanting to seem too eager. She waited until ten minutes after the agreed meeting time before walking in. Kurt stood from the pew as she did. "Hi," she greeted shyly.

"Hey," he smiled at her.

She looked around the church, then back to him. "So, you wanted to see me?"

"Ja," he said. "I wanted to show you something." He held out his hand.

She nodded and took it. "Uh," he paused. "I'm going to teleport. Is that ok?"

"Yeah," she smiled. He returned it, and suddenly the room turned inside out. The reappeared in an entirely new place, and Wanda found herself clutching for anything to steady herself. The closest thing was Kurt, and she grasped at him.

"Whoa," he said. "It's ok, it's over."

"That was crazy," Wanda sighed, finally gaining her bearings.

"Ja, it's always disorienting the first time," he took her hand in his. "Come."

She followed him through a small hole, out onto the roof of the church. There was a blanket laid out. "I heard that tonight was a meteor shower," he told her. "I thought it would be fun to watch. And it's so clear out here."

Wanda nodded. "That sounds amazing!"

They sat beside each other, gazing up at the sky. There were a few lines across the sky, as the shower began, and Wanda smiled. It was something unique, something she'd never seen before. She looked to Kurt, who was staring at the sky as well. He turned to her to flash a smile, before looking back up.

She felt a flutter inside at that smile, and looked away from him. Part of her wanted to move closer, put her arms around him, just feel him beside her. But she was terrified. She cherished their friendship, what if any move made just ruined it?

As they stared at the sky, she inched closer to him, though not fast enough for him to notice anything. Once close enough, she paused for a few moments, just watching the sky beside him. Taking a deep breath, which she disguised as a yawn, she gathered all her courage and laid her head against his shoulder. Kurt looked to her, then pulled his arm around her.

Wanda's body practically vibrated. He was holding onto her. They were practically cuddling. She could barely pay attention to the sky, she was so distracted by how close he was to her, his arm around her shoulders, the way his hand stroked her side lightly. She did her best to watch the meteor shower, but it had begun to slow. She felt Kurt take a large breath beside her.

"Wanda," he started.

"Yeah?" she responded.

"Uh," he paused. "Can I kiss you?"

Her heart nearly leapt out of her throat. She turned toward him, her face centimeters from his, a small smile on her lips. "If you want."

He smiled back at her, and his hand came to her chin, pulling her lips closer to his. They brushed against each other tenderly, and Wanda was stricken by the notion that she had no idea how to kiss someone. She followed his lead, however. He brought his arms up around her, pulling her closer to him, and she did the same. There was something electric, something she couldn't quite put her finger on. She'd never felt anything like this before, and as he deepened the kiss, all she could think was how little she wanted this to ever end.

She felt herself being pushed backward, and she laid out onto the blanket as he crawled on top of her, their lips never leaving each other. She felt an odd sensation on her leg, and her hand went to it nervously, only to realize it was his tail, wrapped tightly around her. Her body was responding in ways she'd never experienced before, and she found herself wanting to pull him closer, tighter, merge them into one. He pulled away from her, rolling to his side, holding him close to her.

"I like you, Wanda," he told her.

She smiled wide resting her head against him. "I like you too."
