I do not own Dragonball, Inuyasha, or YuYu Hakusho

NOTE: Since there were mixed feelings about adding Yu Yu Hakusho to this story and some of you really, REALLY want me to do it, I decided to make it all one single (and very long I might add) chapter about Kagome's and Vegeta's trip to Makai. I tried to write this chapter so it's not very confusing, but those who actually watched Yu Yu Hakusho will understand what's going on and those who didn't watch it might get a little lost.

Those who think they will be confused may just skip to the next chapter (when I post it, that is). You will not miss any important details and this chapter could really be considered a filler/side story. I do have about seven years to type up before Majin Buu comes along. Anyways, for those of you that read this chapter, I hope you enjoy it! :)

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Kagome hummed as she set about making lunch for the small group that was left. Goku and Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo (surprisingly), and the androids were still at Capsule Corp. Goku and Gohan were there because Bulma was there, Krillin was there because he wanted to spend more time with both Goku and 18, and the androids were there because they did not have anywhere else to go. Piccolo's reason for being there was a mystery.

Right now everyone was in the dining area right next to the kitchen. Vegeta watched his mate cook while he kept Ryujin entertained with toys. The child was content to chew on the toys he had, he was teething, while he sat in a high chair next to the table. Goku sat by Bulma, holding baby Trunks on his lap and making goofy faces at the child who squealed happily at his father. Gohan laughed from his spot next to his dad at something funny Krillin said. Piccolo sat at the table, surprisingly, but he was only drinking water. The androids did not really require food so 16 was out bird watching and 18 was watching TV in the living room.

Hiei suddenly appeared next to Kagome, appearing out of thin air, seemingly. Everyone, save Vegeta and Kagome, jumped in surprise at the yokai's sudden appearance. Kagome just smiled and turned to the hybrid. "Hello, Hiei. How was your trip to Makai? Is everything going okay over there?"

"Hn. They are preparing for the next makai tournament to decide a king." Hiei explained. "Mukuro sent you a gift." Hiei said, holding out a cloth bag. Kagome smiled at this. After the battle Hiei had returned to Makai to check up on things. He was a prominent yokai over there, after all, and he still had duties to attend to, mostly with making sure no humans had wandered into Makai by accident.

"Give her my thanks. How is she doing since the last time I saw her? I was in Makai to see Yuusuke and I just stumbled across her on random that time. She seemed happier than usual." Kagome shrugged. Vegeta's ears perked up at the mention of Yuusuke. Who was that? Clearly a guy, but who was he to his mate?

"Hn, she was happier. She is still doing well, though she will not participate in the upcoming tournament." Hiei told her. Kagome smiled again and opened the bag, looking inside before gasping.

"Hiei, why did you let her send these to me? You know how dangerous they are in the human world!" Kagome scolded lightly. "What if you had dropped one?!"

"What is it?" Vegeta asked his mate. Kagome sighed and brought the bag over to the table, showing everyone its contents. It looked like a bunch of strange-looking jerky.

"It's dried demon meat." Kagome told them, making everyone tense up as she pulled one out and bit into it. "It's delicious, a delicacy in both Makai and the human realm, for those who know of it, and it's perfectly harmless in this state. The problem comes if it gets boiled."

"What happens then?" Bulma asked.

"Hm, it's best if I show you." Kagome shrugged, taking the bag over to the stove. She filled a pot up with water and then walked over to Hiei. "Here, you're faster at heating things than a stove." Kagome said. The hybrid just shrugged and took the offered pot of water, letting her add a piece of meat to it. When she stepped back he heated the pot up to boiling and everyone watched in shock as a monster bubbled out of it... all while Kagome kept eating some of the meat. "So that's what kind of meat this is... bat demon?" Kagome asked Hiei calmly and he nodded. Kagome just smiled and handed her mate a piece of the jerky. Vegeta sniffed at it for a moment before taking a bite. He trusted his mate so, if she said it was harmless, he was sure it was. Besides that, his saiyan gullet could handle pure acid. A little bit of yokai meat won't hurt him, and its not like he'd never eaten unidentified meat before. He was used to even eating raw meat, the remains of the alien races he'd destroyed, since it was the only food available to him at the time.

"Um... shouldn't somebody stop that thing? It's getting bigger..." Krillin said. Kagome shrugged and walked over to the monster, easily dodging its claws. She touched it and it was purified instantly. Then she handed Hiei a piece of the meat, freaking everyone out.

"Wait, isn't he a demon? Why is he eating it?" Piccolo asked. Kagome just giggled at this and let Hiei answer while she returned to making lunch.

"One, we are cannibals." Hiei said calmly. "And two, this meat is a delicacy. Who am I to pass up something like this?" the hybrid shrugged, biting into the meat without a worry. He went to the sink and put the used pot of water in it, nodding his thanks to Kagome for the meat before leaving in a blur of black. Nobody had time to say anything else before Kagome brought lunch to the table and then sat down to eat.

Vegeta walked up behind his mate as she did the dishes and he wrapped his arms around her slim waist, resting his chin on the top of her head. Kagome smiled and leaned into him a little while she finished washing the dishes from dinner. Goku and his friends had all left to go train and Bulma had taken Trunks and Ryujin to the play room so they could play a little before bed. That left Kagome cleaning the dishes and Vegeta free to do what he wanted.

"Who is this Yuusuke person that you mentioned earlier today?" Vegeta asked his mate as he watched her do the dishes. He wasn't jealous, not as much as he would normally be. He trusted his mate and he knew she wasn't sleeping with anyone other than him, but the mention of another male's name made him curious. Kagome smiled and leaned against her mate a little more.

"He's my cousin." she told him.

"Bulma has a brother?" Vegeta questioned but his mate shook her head.

"No. My mother has a younger sister, my Aunt Bunny, but she also had an older half brother. He doesn't come around very often and he's kind of involved with some illegal activities." Kagome sighed. "He got married young and had my cousin before he left his wife and son to join a gang. My cousin grew up with a tough life and just barely avoided following his father's footsteps."

"Hm, you mentioned he was in the yokai world?" Vegeta asked, confused.

"Yes. He's actually one of the top three rulers of Makai." Kagome smiled lightly. "He's technically a yokai. There's some sort of recessive trait in our family's bloodline. One of our ancestors was a powerful yokai, and he sired a child with a human woman. The child went on to have children who had children who had children, each generation diluting the yokai's blood with human blood. Eventually the generations had so much human blood that their bodies were unable to contain the strength of their ancestor, so they simply remained human. My cousin was an exception."

"How so?" Vegeta asked curiously. She'd never told him about this before. His mate had yokai blood in her, too?

"Yuusuke has always been a fighter, but he's innately a really good person." Kagome sighed. "He died once, saving a little boy, and the prince of the spirit world, Koenma-sama, returned him to life on the condition that he would become a sort of yokai policeman. He went around taking out yokai that were causing trouble in the human realm." she explained to her mate as she started to dry the dishes now. "Over time he got stronger and stronger until he was killed in battle."

"Did Koenma bring him back to life again?" Vegeta inquired, wondering how the boy was still alive.

"No. By this time he'd become so strong that our ancestor's blood was awakened. This new power brought him back to life again and pretty much turned him into a yokai." Kagome shrugged. "Since then he's been living and training in Makai. He's close friends with Hiei and Shippou and they go to see him often. He did have a girlfriend here in the human world and he would spend half his time here but, since she dumped him, he's been staying in Makai more and more. I haven't seen him since before I came to Capsule Corp."

"You sound like the two of you are close." Vegeta noted the sad tone in her voice.

"Yeah. We were best friends growing up. He's like my older brother." she told her mate. They were silent for a few minutes, the only sounds being the dishes clanking as Kagome stacked them. Then Vegeta spoke again.

"You said one of your ancestors was a yokai, and that his blood only appears when his ancestors reach a certain strength and are able to control the power?" Vegeta questioned and she nodded. "You are almost a super saiyan, mate. Why has the blood not been activated in you, too?"

"You know... that's a good question." Kagome hummed. "I'm not really sure. Perhaps it's because I'm a girl and our ancestor was a man. He's still alive, you know, our ancestor. (Yes, I know in the anime he's dead but this is my story so HA!) He lives in Makai and Yuusuke is training under him to take his place. It could be that he can choose who receives the benefits of his blood... or it could be that only his heir, Yuusuke, receives it. I'm not sure." Kagome shrugged. "It could also be because I'm a miko and my powers naturally repel yokai. There are so many possibilities. In any case, I'm glad I haven't gotten that power. Yuusuke had such a hard time learning to control it. If it weren't for his friends he would have gone on a rampage and killed a lot of innocent people."

"Hm..." Vegeta said before sighing, his sharp ears picking up the sounds of his son crying. Looking at the clock Vegeta noticed it was past Ryujin's bedtime anyways. "I will put Ryujin to bed but we are not done talking about this." he told his mate. Kagome merely smiled and nodded, giving her mate a quick kiss before he left to put Ryujin to sleep.

Vegeta found his son in the playroom with Bulma and Trunks. Ryujin was whining and getting fussy, obviously sleepy, but Bulma was busy feeding Trunks so she couldn't put him to bed just yet. She sighed in relief when Vegeta appeared to take the fussy boy to bed. Vegeta gently plucked his son up off the ground and carried him out of the room without a word. He carried his son to the nursery beside his and Kagome's room, putting him down on the carpet for a moment before grabbing a bottle of milk from the mini fridge in the room and heating it with the bottle warmer. He grabbed a set of pajamas out of the dresser and took them and the bottle back to his son, sitting down on the carpet beside him.

"You can have this bottle, son, but only if you let me change your clothes first." Vegeta told Ryujin who was reaching for the bottle already. Hearing his father's words and understanding them, the little boy pouted and crawled into his father's lap. Vegeta smirked at this and set about getting his son out of the ridiculous outfit his mate insisted Ryujin wear today. It was a variety of yellows, pinks, purples, greens, and blues. So many girly colors on his son was ridiculous and Vegeta had told his mate so. Kagome merely said that, since he never picked out the outfits Ryujin wears, he didn't have a say in the matter. Vegeta decided that would change, effective immediately.

Vegeta pulled off the girly clothes and tossed them into a nearby hamper. Then he pulled on the pajamas he'd picked out for his son, a royal blue shirt with the words 'Prince Charming' in white on the front and black shorts. His mate insisted on Ryujin wearing those silly footy pajamas to bed but, as with the day clothes, Vegeta would change that. Besides, Ryujin got hot easily in the middle of the night and that accounted for half of the reasons why he woke up during the night. Ryujin, seeing that his father was done changing him, reached for his bottle with a little whine. Vegeta chuckled lightly and handed his son the bottle. Ryujin promptly stuck it in his mouth and started eating while Vegeta picked him up and set him down in the crib. Once the bottle was empty Vegeta took it away and looked down at his son as he yawned sleepily.

"Go to sleep, Ryujin. We'll see you in the morning." Vegeta told his son, rather softly. Ryujin yawned again and lay down. Soon enough the little boy was fast asleep. Vegeta smiled and turned off the lights before leaving. He found his mate in the living room, waiting for him with a smile. He smirked and sat down on the couch beside her, letting her lean against his shoulder. "I want to meet your cousin." Vegeta told her. "And your ancestor."

"Hm, so you want to go to makai, then?" Kagome sighed.

"Is it hard to go there?" Vegeta questioned at the odd tone in her voice.

"No, not for me. Koenma-sama and the current king of Makai granted me passage between worlds because I know many yokai over there and I pose no threat to either world." Kagome explained. "But right now they are preparing for the next Makai tournament, which will decide who is the next king. The yokai will be restless, rowdy, and more likely to attack. They shouldn't pose a real threat to us, since only the lower yokai attack on random, but it's just a hassle to deal with them." she sighed. "Still, it would be nice to see Yuusuke again, and we could also visit Mukuro-sama while we are there."

"Hn, that is fine." Vegeta told her.

"I guess I'll start preparing, then." Kagome sighed. "I need to see if Bulma-chan will watch Ryujin while we're gone. And I need to tell my uncle that I'll be taking a vacation. If you want, we can leave by the end of the week." she told her mate. "We really shouldn't wait much longer, though, because once the tournament begins everything is fair game."

"When will the tournament start?" Vegeta asked curiously.

"About two months from now, according to Hiei." Kagome told him. "The current King, the winner of the last tournament, has ruled for the past five years. They hold this tournament every so often to decide a new king, and it all started because of Yuusuke's suggestion. He's probably going to fight this year, too, along with Shippou and Hiei."

"Hm, mind if I fight, too?" Vegeta smirked, making Kagome frown.

"That wouldn't be much of a fight. You're four times as strong as the current king, Vegeta. Besides, you have to have yokai blood in you to be able to participate. No yokai will let a human or an alien rule them." Kagome told her mate, making him grin at her assurance in his power. Kagome smiled at his grin and crawled onto his lap, kissing him sweetly as he wrapped his arms around her. "Besides, I don't want the king of yokai; I want the mighty prince of all saiyans." Vegeta laughed at this and kissed his mate.

"Very well, my princess. A prince I shall remain."

"Raizen-sama! Yuusuke-sama!" a servant came running down the empty corridors of Raizen's desert palace. The young yokai in monk's clothing burst into the dojo Yuusuke had added on to the palace once he came to live in Makai permanently. He found the great yokai and his descendant sparring and, asterrifying a sight that was, the poor servant had to interrupt. "Raizen-sama! Yuusuke-sama! The energies we felt yesterday in your domain are coming closer. Some of the guards were sent to investigate and only one returned covered in wounds!" the monk-yokai told them as they stopped their sparring. "The energies are getting closer as we speak. They will be here before noon!"

"Che. Scared, young one?" Raizen scoffed, glancing at his descendant with an irritated look. "Have the younger yokai go out and get some battle experience before they are allowed to serve in the palace." Yuusuke crossed his arms at that, scoffing back.

"Now why do I have to do that? You can do it just as easily, old man." Yuusuke frowned, making his ancestor scowl.

"Brat. Fine, then you go handle the intruders." Raizen scowled. "You know where to find me when you return, brat." the warrior yokai scoffed before walking away calmly. Yuusuke huffed in annoyance and glared at the servant that was still there.

"Well, you heard him. All you younger yokai take a hike and come back once you've got some experience under your belt and stop acting like scared little girls because of a little bit of danger." Yuusuke ordered sternly. The servant nodded and quickly left. Yuusuke sighed and searched for the energies they'd felt in their domain since yesterday morning. Two powerful unknown energies were steadily making their way through their lands, headed straight for the palace. Yuusuke didn't know what they wanted but, if he'd learned anything in the five years he'd lived in Makai, it was that it was always best to be prepared for the worst. With a heavy sigh, Yuusuke set out from the palace to intercept the energies before they caused harm to the small yokai villages scattered throughout Raizen's desert.

-break-

Kagome sighed as they stopped for a short break under the shade of a few sparse trees in Raizen's desert. She pulled out a large canteen and took a large gulp before handing it to her mate, who also took a drink, but not as much as Kagome. He was used to arid conditions, Vegeta-sei having been mostly deserts. Still, the deserts of Makai were harsher than those on his home planet. He was rather glad now that they'd left Ryujin behind, as he knew the child would not be able to handle this intense heat. Instead, Ryujin was at Kagome Capsule Corp, being watched by Bulma. He would be fine there for a few days and it was much safer than taking him with them to Makai, especially around the time that the Makai tournament is being set up.

"How much further is it, mate?" Vegea asked as they rested in the shade for a moment. Kagome sighed and looked off into the distance, spotting Raizen's tall tower-like palace.

"We should be there by noon unless Raizen sends more subordinates." Kagome sighed, remembering the last bunch that had intercepted them around breakfast time. Kagome had taken them all out easily, her heart pumping at getting to fight. She hadn't gotten to fight against Cell so fighting Raizen's lackeys was refreshing for her. Vegeta just stood back and watched with a proud smirk as his mate took on five grown yokai men and defeated them easily. Kagome sighed heavily and took another drink of water.

"If you would change your clothes, mate, you wouldn't be so hot." Vegeta said as he took the canteen from her and took another sip of water for himself. Kagome sighed and looked down at what she was wearing, her old miko clothes, and then glanced at what her mate was wearing, his typical saiyan armor.

"And you're trying to tell me a skin-tight suit and armor is going to make it any better?" Kagome questioned. Vegeta just smirked.

"These clothes are designed for situations like this, mate." He told her, pulling a capsule out of a small pocket in his armor. He handed it to her. "Just try it and, if it's not any better, you can always go naked." he smirked, earning a light glare from his mate which made him chuckle. Kagome sighed heavily at her mate and took the capsule, expanding it to reveal her saiyan armor. She changed into it quickly, heedless of her mate who watched her every move with a smirk, before putting her old clothes in the capsule. She capsulized it again and handed it back to her mate. "Better?" Vegeta smirked. Kagome merely nodded, eyes wide in surprise. The suit, despite being skin tight, was light and allowed her skin to breathe, much better than her heavy suffocating miko garb.

"I hate it when you're right." Kagome sighed at the victorious smirk her mate gave her. Vegeta just chuckled and tucked the capsule back into the small pocket in his armor. They each took one more drink of water before Kagome put the canteen back over her shoulder and they continued walking again. They walked for about an hour before they both sensed a single strong energy headed their way.

"We're about to have company." Vegeta said. Kagome just sighed and threw her hair up into a pony tail, getting ready to fight.

"Yep. I bet I know who it is, too." Kagome told her mate as she started to stretch a little. "Yuusuke probably got tired of listening to the guards go on and on about how their men never returned."

"You did let one escape, mate." Vegeta pointed out.

"Only because he was a coward and hid when I was tying the others up." Kagome scoffed. Raizen's men were currently tied to a tree in the middle of the desert. It was likely the coward would return there eventually and free them, so they wouldn't die from the heat.

"Hn. So you still plan to fight your cousin? He will probably recognize you." Vegeta told her but Kagome shook her head.

"He won't recognize me, not right away at least. I've changed too much and we haven't seen each other in three years. Plus he's likely to trust his senses more than his eyes, so he'll think that there's no way I can be as powerful as I am." Kagome explained. "Also, he's the type that will rush into battle headfirst and attack us just because we're in his lands."

"I thought these were Raizen's lands."

"They are, but Yuusuke is his heir." Kagome reminded her mate. She took a drink from the canteen before handing it to her mate to hold. "This ought to be a good fight, much harder than those guards." Kagome grinned now, making Vegeta chuckle.

"You're just upset that you didn't get to fight Cell." he chuckled.

"That's right." Kagome glared at her mate. "I did tell you to end it, but I wanted to have some fun too. You could have weakened him, let me have my fun, and then killed him but no... you went straight for the kill shot. Even Trunks got to have a little fun." she scoffed and Vegeta chuckled again, pulling her to him and wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Sorry, mate, but you made me a promise and I wanted to hold you to that promise as quickly as possible." he grinned down at his mate, giving her a quick kiss. "I will let you fight all the battles in Makai, mate, if it makes you feel better."

"But there's not many yokai strong enough to push me to my limits." Kagome pouted.

"Hn. That's how I felt fighting Cell, mate, so deal with it." Vegeta chuckled. Kagome sighed heavily and pulled away from her mate as Yuusuke's energy came closer and closer to their location. Vegeta just chuckled and seated himself on a nearby boulder to watch his mate fight her cousin.

It wasn't long before Yuusuke appeared on the scene. Kagome looked him over when he was still a good distance away. He'd matured, to say the least. He was more muscular than the last time she saw him, and his eyes showed a maturity that came with years of battle experience. Raizen must have toughened him up, Kagome assumed. Her cousin wore clothing similar to their ancestor's now, loose white pants with a dark blue obi sash, rather than Raizen's yellow, and a white sleeveless shirt. His hair was no longer that slicked-back and greased style, but rather it was quite shaggy now and actually tinged with white streaks, presumably because of his many transformations into his yokai form.

Yuusuke stopped about twenty feet away from the couple, looking them both over quickly before narrowing his eyes at the woman that was obviously planning to fight him. She looked familiar in a way but he pushed that thought aside as he spoke. "Who are you and what are you doing on my lands?" Yuusuke demanded, his voice deeper and full of authority, which was unusual for Kagome. Raizen must have really toughened her cousin up over the years.

"I'm not telling you anything." Kagome said calmly. "Not until you fight me."

"Che. So that's how it's gonna be." Yuusuke scoffed, looking her over before frowning. "I don't fight chicks."

"Well, this should end quickly then." Kagome merely grinned before attacking, jumping the twenty feet of space in less than a second and hitting her cousin with a right hook. Yuusuke, surprised, flew back several feet from the force of her blow. He twisted in the air and managed to land on his feet, but Kagome had busted his lip with that punch and successfully angered and riled up her cousin. "I'll say it once more. Fight me. Otherwise you will not get any information out of us." This got her cousin moving. With an angered roar he counterattacked but Kagome easily dodged him when he appeared behind her and tried to punch her.

Kagome grinned as she continued to dodge his attacks, which were unusually calculated for her cousin. He had changed a lot in three years, more than she ever expected. When she became bored with dodging she started to fight back, landing blow after blow on her cousin who appeared shocked that she could even hit him. It wasn't long before she pushed him enough to transform into his yokai form, his hair growing long and turning white and purple markings appearing on his face and chest and shoulders. Kagome only grinned, however, since she'd been rather bored with the slow battle. As things heated up she couldn't wipe the grin off her face. Her saiyan blood was boiling with excitement from the fight. It had been so long since she'd fought someone besides her mate who was actually a challenge. Even as she started taking blows she still couldn't stop grinning.

Vegeta watched the fight with a smirk. His mate was happy about the challenging fight. She'd wanted to test her limits for so long on someone that wasn't him that Vegeta was almost worried Kagome would go crazy over it. It wasn't good for a saiyan to not fight; it messed with their minds. Still, this fight wasn't enough to truly push her. She would get bored soon and end the fight. Perhaps her ancestor would be a better opponent but, if not, then he would see if Kakkarot would be willing to spar with Kagome, just to get her to let off steam.

Yuusuke growled in frustration. No matter how hard he hit this woman he couldn't wipe that smug grin off her face. To make it worse, he couldn't use his rei gun or yoki gun effectively since she was keeping it as a close distance battle, so she was clearly winning this fight. He was being pushed to his limits and this woman hadn't even broken a sweat yet. She even seemed to be holding back on him! He noticed her demeanor suddenly change. She seemed... bored. He was only assured of this when she sighed in the middle of the fight and quickly landed a kick to his head, sending him flying. Yuusuke landed hard in the sand, winded and dizzy from her kick. That could have been a fatal blow and he knew it, yet she'd held herself back from killing him all while making sure it was impossible for him to fight her anymore. He felt his yokai blood recede and he groaned as his world became dizzy and then faded to black.

Kagome pouted as she stood over her cousin. "I didn't mean to knock him out." she pouted as her mate came up behind her, chuckling.

"You need more training, mate. Your punches are mastered but you need work on kicking." Vegeta smirked at her. Then he picked up her cousin by his shirt and tossed the boy over his shoulder. "Now, shall we go? I would rather like to get to your ancestor's palace before lunch."

"Fine." Kagome sighed heavily. "We might as well fly, then."

"Hn. That reminds me. Why have we been walking this entire time?" Vegeta asked as they took to the sky.

"Well, before we reached the desert it was because I like walking." Kagome told him. "But once we got to the desert it was because I didn't want to draw attention to those below. There are villages here, despite it being a desert, and it's likely we would be attacked by an entire village if they determined we were strangers. I didn't want to deal with that. Too much of a hassle." Kagome sighed.

"So now you are willing to risk it?" Vegeta questioned but Kagome shook her head.

"We passed the last village until Raizen's palace about an hour ago." Kagome informed her mate. "We shouldn't be bothered until we reach the palace, unless Yuusuke wakes up before then. I kicked him pretty hard so he might be out for a while, but he's always had a thick skull so who knows?"

-break-

Raizen cracked an eye open as he sensed those two powerful energies appear at the door to his palace. He could sense his baka of an heir with them, but his energy was weak as if he were unconscious. The thunder yokai chuckled darkly at this. So someone had actually beaten his heir? They probably knocked some sense into the boy, since it was highly likely that he'd gotten angry and let his emotions dictate the fight. Raizen's heir was strong, but he was still young and foolish.

The powerful yokai stood up from his throne and made his way to the palace entrance to greet these... visitors. He wasn't sure what to expect. Clearly they were powerful enough to overwhelm the brat, but Raizen knew a few people who could do that. Still, these energies were unfamiliar to him, and he sensed no yoki at all in them. They were either human or something else entirely. He was going to assume they weren't human. No human could be this strong, not without yoki in their veins.

Raizen pushed open the heavy metal doors to his palace easily and stepped out into the light. What he saw surprised even the ancient powerful yokai. There was a couple there, a man and a woman, each with monkey tails either behind them or wrapped around their waist. They wore strange armor. The male was very muscular and radiated pure strength and raw power. His eyes told Raizen he was a man with authority and power, a leader... and a rather arrogant one at that. It was the female that got Raizen's interest the most, however. The female was petite, slim and lean but also quite curvaceous showing that she was a fully mature female, and likely even a mother. But that wasn't what Raizen was focused on. He was focused on the fact that she looked nearly identical to another one of his descendants, a young human miko named Kagome. In fact, the yokai was almost positive that this WAS Kagome!

The woman smirked at Raizen as she looked him over while the man merely looked bored as he held an unconscious Yuusuke over his shoulder. Raizen stared at them, waiting for them to speak and tell him why they were there. Finally, after a long moment of silence, the woman spoke.

"You're looking much healthier, Raizen-sama." she said, her voice smooth and sweet. "Much better than the last time we saw each other. Decide to stop be picky and try eating some yokai instead of humans?" she asked. Raizen glared at her. How did she know of his vow not to eat humans? And she said they'd met before. Was this really his descendant?

"What trick do you play on me, woman? How is it you look so much like one of my descendants?" Raizen demanded. The woman just laughed.

"I don't know. Maybe it's because I am one of your descendants." she laughed. "Use your senses, Raizen-sama. You can tell your blood is in my veins." Raizen glared at her but did as she suggested. His eyes widened as he sensed that she really was one of his descendants!

"Kagome? Is that you?" Raizen asked in shock. The woman giggled and nodded before quickly hugging her ancestor.

"It's me, Raizen-sama. I've changed a lot, but I'm still me." Kagome told the muscular yokai who merely smiled a little and lightly returned the hug.

"I know three years changes much in a human, but this is ridiculous, Kagome." Raizen told her, stepping back to look her over once more. He spotted a mating mark on her neck and he glanced at the male again. "Taken a mate, have you? And what's this with the tail and the incredible power you now have? This isn't the work of my blood."

"It's a long story." Kagome smiled.

"Well, then... why don't you and your friend come in? You can tell me all about what you've been doing in the past three years." Raizen suggested. Kagome nodded and followed him into the palace, followed by Vegeta who still carried Yuusuke over his shoulder.

-break-

"How interesting. I had heard of strange yokai without yoki before but I never would have guessed they were aliens." Raizen said as he, Kagome, and Vegeta sat at a table eating. Well, Kagome and Vegeta were eating, but Raizen had already had his meal. Kagome was right when she said he'd stopped being so picky. Yuusuke had refused to let Raizen starve himself to death so he'd gotten the stubborn old yokai to try alternatives. Now he ate normal meat like everyone else, with the occasional yokai here and there. He didn't like it nearly as much as human meat, but it kept him alive and he wasn't breaking his vow to his long-dead lover. "So, your mate, here, is also an alien?" Raizen asked and Kagome nodded, her mouth full of food. Being in the desert for three days with limited food was horrible, and she was only half-saiyan. Looking at her mate, she suddenly understood how he felt every day around mealtime. He was always starving, it seemed, and now she knew why. His metabolism was so much greater than hers that it was freaky.

"Yes." Kagome said when she swallowed. "Vegeta and my father are from a race of warrior apes, called Saiyans. Vegeta is the prince of the entire race and my father was an admiral that got banished to Earth, where he met my mother." Kagome explained.

"And how did - Vegeta was it?" Vegeta nodded curtly. "How did he arrive on Earth, then?" Raizen asked Kagome.

"Well, that's a a long story in and of itself." Kagome sighed. "How about we save that for another time? Besides, I don't know it as well as Vegeta. I've only heard about it from him."

"Very well." Raizen conceded. "Now, I would like to know the reason for your visit?"

"Well, Vegeta said he wanted to meet you and Yuusuke, I wanted to take a little vacation and tell you that I've taken a mate, and I haven't seen you in three years. Why? Do you not want me here?" Kagome pouted teasingly at her ancestor, who chuckled lightly and shook his head.

"That is not it. You are aware that the Makai tournament is to be held next month, yes? Why did you not wait until it is over and everything is safer?" Raizen asked. Kagome just grinned.

"Now what fun would that be? I wouldn't get to fight as much if the yokai weren't so riled up already." this surprised Raizen who looked at her skeptically.

"You actually want to fight wild insane yokai?" the thunder yokai questioned but Kagome frowned.

"No. I want to fight all the stronger yokai. It's the wild insane ones that just get in my way when I sense a strong yokai." Kagome sighed heavily as her ancestor just stared at her in shock. "Speaking of, Raizen-sama, would you mind sparring with me? There hasn't been a real challenge since we got to Makai and I want to fight someone strong."

"You? Fight me?" Raizen questioned with a frown. "I decline. I will not be responsible for your death, Kagome.

"Like that could happen." Vegeta scoffed, looking at Raizen seriously. "You underestimate my mate. She has grown very strong in the past three years because of my training and she was the one that knocked out your heir in less than five minutes." Raizen's eyes widened at this news and he looked over at Kagome who was just smiling. He thought it over for a minute before sighing.

"Do not blame me if you have to speak to Koenma later about returning to life." was all the ancient yokai said before standing and walking out of the room. Kagome grinned and followed him out of the palace, her mate following her now. They walked out into the dessert a little ways and stopped. Raizen turned to face her now. "I would rather not see my precious descendant die today so I will not use my powers." he told her and Kagome pouted.

"Pity. There goes half of the battle." she pouted and then grinned. "Oh well. I will make you use them." That said she got ready to fight. Vegeta moved back to a good distance to watch and propped himself up against a boulder. He looked over Raizen as the yokai prepared to fight. He had a very loose stance, suggesting that he was strong enough to not use proper techniques and that he was very skilled and at ease in battle. Of course. Kagome had told him that Raizen was a warrior yokai so, naturally, he would be at ease in battle. Kagome was using proper stance but she, too, was also quite relaxed. He could see her tail swishing behind her in excitement and Vegeta knew this would be the fight she'd been craving since Cell's downfall.

The fight began and Kagome was instantly attacking her ancestor, who easily dodged and blocked her attacks without retaliating. Vegeta smirked; that was his mistake. Soon enough Kagome got bored with normal sparring and stepped it up a notch, landing a solid kick to her ancestor's gut. Raizen's eyes widened in surprise as he was forced back about a foot from the attack. She shouldn't have been able to move that fast or kick that hard and he hadn't expected it at all from her. He just barely managed to dodge her next attack, a punch that would have hit him square in the jaw had he not moved at the last second. His eyes widened even more in surprise as the little onna continued to pick up the pace, not relenting in her attacks. It was getting harder and harder to dodge and parry her attacks without retaliating. She started landing more and more blows on him and, before he knew it, she'd gotten a perfect hit on him and he was flying back a few feet from her punch. As Kagome rushed to attack him right after he landed Raizen finally threw a punch on instinct, hitting Kagome squarely on the jaw and sending her flying.

Raizen cursed instantly as he watched his descendant fly into a huge nearby boulder, cracking it from the force of her impact. He was certain he'd just killed her with that! This was why he didn't want to fight her! And now he had to go to Koenma and convince him to bring his descendant back to life, and that was not a trip he was going to enjoy... and add onto that the fact that her mate would be very pissed at his mate's death...

The thunder yokai's eyes went wide, however, as Kagome's figure moved. He watched in shock as she peeled herself from the boulder easily. When she looked up he was shocked to see a grin on her face. "Come on, Raizen-sama. For that being the work of your instincts it was pitiful." Kagome grinned, dusting herself off before taking a fighting stance once more. "Now, how about you get serious this time? Maybe I will get serious, too."

Vegeta grinned as the battle heated up quickly after that. Raizen started fighting back, though he was still hesitant to use his full force against Kagome. She quickly solved that issue by making him use his full power. Soon it was an even match, and Kagome was grinning from ear to ear. She finally had the challenge she'd been seeking! Her ancestor was just strong enough to push her to her limits. The only problem was that she was slightly stronger than him, even with him using his powers and fighting her at full strength. She was still a little stronger than him and therefore able to land more hits on him than he was landing on her.

The fight had been taken to the air after a while, with the fighters being thrown into the ground occasionally. Kagome was having a blast, fighting someone that was pretty much the same strength as her. It was so much better than fighting her mate, who she knew held back when he was training with her. It was clear that Raizen was now giving it his all and Kagome was absolutely thrilled at being pushed to her limits. Looking at her ancestor, she saw that he was also enjoying this. She knew it had likely been a while since he had a good challenge, too.

Both their smiles were quickly wiped off their faces, however, as a bright beam of light suddenly appeared around them. Kagome was hit directly in the head by the light, which disoriented her. She plummeted to the ground, stopping mere feet from the hard ground as she was caught by her mate, who was growling fiercely at the one who had attacked his mate. Kagome, in a dizzy haze, barely made out the figure of her attacker. Yuusuke.

Yuusuke had woken up in his room in the palace. He remembered fighting the woman and being knocked out, and then he felt that woman's energy along with his ancestor's energy, both feeling as if they were fighting. Yuusuke had rushed outside in time to see Raizen looking worse for wear while fighting that woman. Determined to help his ancestor against these intruders, he'd shot his Rei gun at the woman, not even noticing the man nearby. Nobody had noticed Yuusuke, not even Vegeta who had been watching the fight, so he'd taken the woman by surprise and gotten a direct hit on her. He felt satisfaction as he watched her fall to the ground, only to be caught by the male that was with her. The male set his sights on Yuusuke with a look that could kill, and Yuusuke felt a shiver of fear run through him at the sight.

Meanwhile Kagome's dizzy haze was slowly lifting and Raizen was landing nearby. Kagome looked up at her mate and gave him a small smile. "Vegeta, I'm okay. Just dizzy." she told him quietly. "It was reiki so it can't really hurt me. I'm fine, so please don't attack him."

"That's not how it works, Kagome." Raizen said before Vegeta could say anything. Kagome looked at her ancestor as he walked over to the couple, ignoring Yuusuke's shouts for him to get away from them. "He has every right to attack my baka heir because Yuusuke attacked you when you were not looking, a dirty underhanded move." the thunder yokai said loud enough for Yuusuke to hear. The younger man's shouts were instantly silenced by the coldness in his ancestor's voice.

"Your ancestor is correct." Vegeta said now, looking down at his mate. "However, since it would upset you, I will not attack him." Kagome just nodded at this, giving Vegeta a small smile. She was still a little disoriented, but her vision had cleared out some and now she could see that Yuusuke looked like he was either going to have a fit because he didn't know what was going on or he was going to attack again. Thankfully Raizen intervened before Yuusuke did anything stupid, like anger Vegeta further.

"Yuusuke, apologize to your cousin."

"C-COUSIN?!" Yuusuke's shocked cry was heard as the boy literally fell on his butt from the shock. Raizen ignored this.

"Yes, your cousin. Get over here and apologize before her mate decides to kill you for hurting her." Raizen said coldly. Yuusuke knew when to heed hi ancestor's words and this was one of those times. He quickly swallowed his confusion and shock and hurried over to the couple. He got a good look at Kagome's face for the first time and his eyes went wide.

"Kagome! I'm so sorry; I didn't know it was you!"

"It's okay. I didn't expect you to recognize me." Kagome laughed a little.

"Y-you look so different, and this power... and a tail! What happened to you, Kagome?" Yuusuke asked, thoroughly confused.

"Let's just say you're not the only one with powerful blood in you that you didn't know about."

"Are you okay?" Yuusuke asked Kagome as they all sat in the dining area. They had gone inside and explained to Yuusuke what they'd explained to Raizen, and now they were preparing to eat dinner. Kagome was zoning out and Yuusuke was worried it was because of that hit she took to the head.

"I'm okay." Kagome said with a small smile. "Just missing my baby, is all." She said this as both Raizen and Yuusuke were taking a drink of water, and they both did a very comical spit take at this news.

"YOU HAVE A BABY?" they both exclaimed in unison. Kagome giggled at their reactions while Vegeta just smirked.

"Oops, I forgot to mention that Vegeta and I have a little boy, Ryujin. He's about eight months old right now." Kagome smiled and giggled at the same time.

"Why didn't you mention you have a kid earlier?" Yuusuke demanded.

"Well, in between sparring with Raizen-sama and being hit in the head by a light beam it sort of slipped my mind." Kagome shrugged. Then she sighed. "But I really miss him. The last time I was away from him I was too busy to miss him but now it's different."

"Why didn't you bring him, then?" Yuusuke asked, earning a raised eyebrow from Kagome. "What? With as strong as you are, and especially if your mate is really ten times stronger than you like you said, the kid would be perfectly safe in Makai."

"He does have a point." Raizen agreed. "I have yet to see your mate in action but if he's as strong as you claim then your child would not be in any danger here."

"Well, that's true but he's still too little to be able to handle the dramatic climate changes here in Makai. " Kagome pointed out. "Even I had trouble with all this heat."

"Maybe it's because of that tight suit you're wearing." Yuusuke said, looking at her choice of clothing skeptically.

"You know, I thought the same thing when I saw Vegeta was going to wear it to Makai. I actually came here in a different outfit but it got too hot for me. Vegeta got me to try this on instead and, I have to say, it's a lot cooler than it looks." Kagome said as she looked down at her armor.

"It's made to withstand the heat of Vegeta-sei's two suns so, of course, it is designed to have a cooling effect." Vegeta explained. "This yokai dessert is equivalent to an early spring morning on my home planet, though my planet was quite humid as well."

"Really?" Kagome asked, this being news to her. "It was that hot and humid?" Vegeta merely nodded.

"Wow, Earth must be a huge change for you, then." Yuusuke said but Vegeta shrugged.

"Saiyans are very versatile. Plus I spent most of my years either in space or on other planets conquering them." he shrugged. "I'm quite used to adapting to dramatic climates quickly. My mate, however, has spent most her life in one climate, so it is harder for her to adapt."

"Conquering planets?" Raizen inquired now. This time Kagome answered.

"Vegeta's race thrives on fighting. In order to satisfy this craving without the people fighting each other the Saiyans became conquerors." She explained as she remembered what Vegeta had told her about his race. "They would go to planets, destroy the population, and then sell it to the highest bidder."

"Do you still do that?" Yuusuke asked, staring at Vegeta warily. Vegeta smirked now.

"If I still conquered planets Earth would be wiped out by now. It is a very nice planet, after all, and would sell very easily." Vegeta said, waving a hand dismissively through the air. "However, I have found it to be a suitable home for myself and I'm quite fond of one of the earthlings, who just so happens to also be half saiyan." Kagome smiled at this and leaned against her mate's shoulder.

"Aw, I'm fond of you, too."

Vegeta walked out of the bathroom connected to the guest room he and his mate were staying in tonight. He saw Kagome sitting on the bed, looking at pictures of Ryujin on her necklace, and he sighed softly. She was really missing their son and, since they were not busy fighting or training to fight, there was nothing to distract her. Vegeta walked over to the bed and sat down beside his mate, pulling her easily onto his lap and wrapping his arms around her. Kagome leaned against him but did not turn the holographic pictures of their son off. They sat in silence, both of them looking at the pictures, before Vegeta spoke.

"Perhaps we should not have come, mate. You miss Ryujin too much to enjoy this little vacation." Vegeta said softly. Kagome sighed quietly and turned the hologram off before looking up at her mate.

"Last time I was able to handle it. Why not this time?" Kagome asked.

"Last time we were in the middle of fighting Cell, mate. You did not have time to miss our son; you were more focused on protecting him." Vegeta explained. "But now he is safe and there is no battle to be fought. You are still a new mother, mate, so it is hard for you to be without our son in your arms for long." He reached up and wiped away the few tears that had gathered in her eyes. "I know you want to stay and spend more time with your cousin and ancestor, and perhaps visit that Mukuro person you mentioned, but perhaps it would be best to leave, mate, and return when Ryujin is a little older and you can handle being away from him. Or we could even bring him with us next time, hm?" Kagome sniffled a little and nodded. "We will leave tomorrow, mate, after breakfast. That will give you time to tell your cousin and ancestor that we are leaving."

"Okay." Kagome nodded slowly. She leaned up and kissed Vegeta. "You're so sweet sometimes. Thank you." Vegeta growled halfheartedly at this and Kagome giggled. "Forgive me for insinuating that you're not as cold-hearted as everyone thinks you are, my mighty prince."

"Wrong. I am as cold as everyone believes. It's only you that sees this side of me." Vegeta corrected her. Kagome just laughed and kissed him again.

"Of course. Me and Ryujin, right?" Kagome smiled and he grunted in agreement. Kagome giggled again and rested her head on her mate's chest, listening to his strong and steady heart beat. "I love you, Vegeta." she said quietly as they just sat there, enjoying each other's presence. She smiled lightly as his arms tightened around her slightly, returning her words without him even speaking.

"Don't be a stranger, Kagome. Come visit whenever you like, even if it's just for a day." Raizen said as he patted his descendant's head lovingly. Kagome merely nodded before she was pulled into a warm embrace from her cousin.

"I would be really happy if you came to watch the tournament, Kagome. Bring the little tyke, too. I'm sure you and your mate, plus Hiei and Kurama, will all be able to keep him perfectly safe." Yuusuke told her.

"But the climate..."

"The audience will all be gathered in an air conditioned stadium." Yuusuke told her. "The kid will be fine. Please, Kagome?"

"I'll think about it, Yuusuke." Kagome sighed and finally returned his hug. "It was good to see you again, if only for a day. Sorry I couldn't stay longer."

"It's okay. I understand that a mother needs to see her baby." Yuusuke shrugged as he released her. "Now, you two should get going if you want to see your son before tomorrow comes." Kagome nodded and moved to stand by her mate.

"Ready?" Vegeta asked Kagome and she just nodded. With a quick wave to her family the two took to the skies, flying back to the portal Koenma had let them use.

They arrived back at Capsule Corp around five that evening. Kagome instantly heard her baby making a fuss in the nursery and she hurried to him, Vegeta following her closely. She found Bulma in the nursery trying to placate a screaming Ryujin while Trunks was in a walker looking like he was about to cry as well. All the screaming stopped as soon as Ryujin noticed that his mommy was at the door. At once the little boy had gotten to his feet and was toddling as fast as he could to Kagome, who knelt down and hugged him as he toddled into her arms, still sobbing. Kagome hugged her baby close, feeling tears in her eyes. She'd missed him so much! And he'd apparently missed her as well.

"Mama!" Ryujin cried as he buried his face in her familiar bosom, making all eyes in the room go wide. "Mama, mama, mama!" Kagome looked up at Vegeta, who was standing behind her now, to see if he'd also heard it. By the size of his eyes she knew he'd also heard it. Ryujin had called her mama! And not just once but four times! This really got the tears flowing as Kagome held her baby boy even closer.

"Yes. I'm your mama, Ryujin." Kagome cried quietly with a bright smile.

"Mama..." Ryujin sniffled, his tears quickly fading. Then he looked up at Vegeta. "Dada." Vegeta gave a small smile at this as he watched Ryujin return to snuggling with his mother. It was apparent that all his crying had worn him out, as now he was yawning and his eyes were drooping. He rested his head on his other's bosom and his tail wrapped around her wrist as he sought her comfort. "Mama..." he said sleepily one last time and then he was asleep. Bulma breathed a huge sigh of relief.

"Thank kami... he cried the whole time you were away." Bulma sighed heavily as she picked up Trunks and bounced him a little on her hip.

"Did he ever say mama while we were gone?" Kagome asked but her cousin shook her head.

"He didn't even say dada, which he already knew. He just cried." Bulma told her. "He really missed you guys, but I think he missed his mama the most." she smiled lightly.

"Well, his mama missed him, too." Kagome smiled sweetly down at her sleeping baby. "Thank you for watching him. I'm so sorry he cried the entire time."

"It's fine." Bulma smiled. "I know Trunks would do the same if we were separated for more than an hour. Speaking of Trunks... it's your bed time, little man." Bulma smiled down at her son, who pouted upon hearing her words and started trying to squirm out of her arms.

"I'd better get Ryujin to bed now, too." Kagome said with a small smile. She looked up at Vegeta now. "Shall we?" He merely nodded and stepped aside to let her walk out of the room, and then he followed her. He smiled lightly as he watched Kagome cuddle with their son as she walked, whispering to the sleeping baby how much she loved him and had missed him. It was a sweet sight, one he would not forget.

-END CHAPTER-

I finally got this humongous chapter up! Yay! And the word count is... OVER 9000! Literally. It's about 9, 870 words. In One Chapter! Thus this is the longest chapter in this entire story, and the total word count for my story is now over 100,000! Woohoo!

Thanks for reading! I hope you weren't too confused with the Makai stuff. Like I said earlier, there are not any important details in this chapter and it's all really just one huge filler. Now we are officially into the seven-year gap in DBZ, only Goku is still alive and that automatically means things will be different in the Buu Saga, but not too much hopefully.

And now I have a question for my readers! How many of you have read my other stories, and what were they? I'm just curious to see how many of my readers read my other stories.

That's all from me for now! Thank you for reading and supporting this story. The next chapter promises to be Interesting as well, but I'm not sure when it will be done. In other words, it's highly unlikely there will be an update this week so don't ask please!

Bye Bye!
