In two days everything was arranged. And Amber was flying out. Cerise packed her things, and bought herself a motorcycle.
Cerise went to go fetch Amber at the airport and took Amber to her apartment.
"You've done well for yourself." Amber said walking around her place.
"Yeah, helps when you know the people I know." She said.
"Okay, this is the wrap, Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Atemu and Duke are my friends. They came here every now and then and we hang out." Cerise began to explain.
"Atemu, that's an old timey name. Egyptian, right?" Amber asked and Cerise nodded. At some sage, she would have to sit down with amber and explain everything to her.
"Cool. When can I meet these 'friends' of yours?" Amber asked, curiously.
"Hey, anyone is fair game, not Atemu. He's my boyfriend." Cerise smiled.
"Boyfriend. Wow. What's he like?" Amber asked.
"He's, wonderful." She blushed.
"Okay, but then why are you running?" she jumped up to onto the counter.
"I'm not running. Get off my counter" Cerise said, and Amber got off.
"Yes, you are." Amber pressurized her.
"Okay, I did some things I'm not proud of, and I need to get away. Hit the road." she was making smoothies for the both of them.
"Where will you get money?" Amber asked.
"I know a guy in Mexico, he's always looking for people." Cerise shrugged.
"Not that guy, Cerise, I thought you were over this thing." Amber slumped her shoulders.
"It is good money, and I miss it to be honest with you, you know I was born to do it." She handed her the smoothie.
"Just make sure you're careful. It's been a while since you've been in the business, a lot of upgrades and new guys." her sister told her.
"I will be. I've been trained well." She took a sip of her smoothie.
"One more thing, don't tell anyone. They can't know." Cerise added.
"I won't. But how serious is this thing with, Atemu?" " Amber asked
"Very." Cerise said, looking at her.
"Like, love, serious?" she asked and Cerise nodded.
"Then you need to tell him at some stage." Amber warned her sister.
"I will, I just, need time." Cerise said, leaving out the part that not a week ago, she was pregnant, and that's why she was running.
And then the phone rang.
Cerise put down her smoothie and answered it.
"Yeah, sure I'll be there." She said, hanging up the phone.
"Finish up, we have a party to get to." Cerise took one big sip of her smoothie.
"I don't have time to get ready." Amber complained.
"You do, but hurry." Cerise said, walking to her bedroom.
She put on a nice top and a pair of jeans. She put on some lipstick and mascara and waited. Amber was notorious for spending forever in the bathroom, busy with makeup and hair. Soon she was finished and they left.
The party was at a sushi bar. Everyone was waiting for her and Amber.
They walked into the bar and didn't see the others sitting in the private booth around the corner.
"Where are they?" Cerise said to herself.
"Are you Cerise?" a waiter asked.
"Yes. Do you know where my friends are?" she asked.
"Follow me." he said, walking to the table.
He led them to the table were Joey, Yugi, Atemu, Tristan and Duke were waiting for her.
"Hey, I thought it was going to be me, Atemu and Yugi." Cerise said, looking at all the others.
"Does that mean you're not glad to see us?" Joey said, as they all stood up to greet her.
"No, I'm happy you're all here." She smiled at him.
"Hey, how you feeling?" Joey asked, hugging her.
"I'm feeling fine. And I am glad to see you, all of you." She smiled and looked at Atemu.
"Hi." She said softly.
"Hello." He said, walking up to her and kissing her on the cheek.
He pulled away and looked into her eyes. They hadn't seen each other in a while. He just wanted to make sure she was still as in love with him as he was with her.
"Um." Amber cleared her throat.
"Oh, guys, this is Amber, my sister. She's going to be looking after my place while I'm gone." Cerise said.
Joey looked at Tristan. Cerise could tell they were already scheming.
"I've told her the rules, so you won't be able to break them, Joey, Tristan." She looked at them.
"Ah, man." Tristan said.
"Amber, this is Joey, Tristan, Yugi, Atemu, and Duke." Cerise introduced her to all of them.
"You can sit next to me." Duke smiled.
"Thanks."
Everyone sat down and Amber moved in next to him.
Atemu waited will everyone was in, and then stood aside for Cerise to move in before he sat down next to her. They ordered wine and champagne.
"What's this for?" Cerise asked, as Joey stood up and went to go stand at the head of the table.
He popped the cork and made a little speech.
"As we all know, we are here to celebrate the end of an era..." Joey said sadly, but then everyone started ragging and booing him.
"Jokes, but no seriously, we're gonna miss having you around to buy us pizza's with moneybags cash." He joked on.
"I'm only going away for three weeks Joey." She laughed at him.
"Yeah, you only need to change you underpants once, and she'll be back." Tristan ragged him.
"TRISTAN!" he shouted at him, before composing himself again.
"I know, we've all been through some crazy stuff, mostly due to Atemu and that freaky magic he has," Joey said and Cerise looked at Amber, who looked back at her sister. Joey had blown it already.
"If this is what you need to feel whole again. Then we are all behind you, like we always are." Joey said to her.
Atemu smiled and looked at her, and she looked at him.
"I couldn't have said it better myself Joey." He said, before kissing her softly on the cheek.
Joey poured everyone a glass of champagne and then the party started.
They ordered sushi and had some fun before Cerise was supposed to fly off.
"Magic?" Amber bumped her sister on the shoulder.
"Nothing you need to worry about. But I'll explain it all when I get back. I promise." Cerise said to her sister. Amber leaned around her sister and looked at Atemu. His hair was too weird, his jewellery even more so.
"I don't trust him." Amber squinted at him.
"I do. That's all you need to know. Remember, I'm the one sneaking off and not telling them what I'm going to be doing." Cerise reminded her sister.
"I'll give him a couple of tests while you're gone, make sure he's right for you." Amber said, looking at her sister.
"He is. And he'll pass your tests, with flying colours. I promise." She said, as Atemu drew her attention back to him. She looked at him and smiled.
"Wine?" he asked and she nodded.
"Yes please." She smiled holdings out her glass to him.
Amber watched as he carefully poured her more wine, and inched up to her. She seemed to welcome it, as the conversation went on around them. They seemed to occupy the same space comfortably, without either fighting for anything. They would stare at each other every few moments, and they would whisper to each other. Amber had never seen her sister smile as much as she did that night.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" Duke suddenly asked Amber.
"More wine would be awesome." She said, looking into his beautiful green eyes. Cerise saw this and nudged Atemu on his knees. He looked at her and she gestured to Amber and Duke. "Amber's getting close to Duke." Cerise whispered to Atemu.
"I hope she doesn't get too, close. He's a real heartbreaker." He said.
"Watch her while I'm gone." She asked him.
"I will, as I told you." He smiled.
"Yeah. I know. Joey looks like he's enjoying the party." She said as Joey went to go the fifth bottle of wine.
"Yes, he does." He laughed.
"I can't stop thinking of something." She said, moving closer to Atemu.
She had missed him so much. He put his arm around her waist and moved closer to her too.
"Why do you think Yugi solved the puzzle, I mean why was he chosen?"
"I don't know, he was probably meant to." He said, looking at Yugi and the others.
"I can't help but think it isn't coincidence."
"Go on." He said, looking back at her.
"What if Yugi is a descendant of yours." She looked at Yugi and Joey juggling the empty wine bottles.
"I never thought of that." He said, looking back at Yugi.
"I mean, he looks just like you, and I mean if he is, it would explain why he could solve it. You were more drawn to him." She explained her theory.
"Maybe he is, but right now we are going to have fun, it's your last night here." He kissed her on her cheek.
The rest of the group mocked them loudly but Cerise stuck her tongue out at them and smiled then kissed him on the lips. Amber had to admit, they looked happy. In love.
When the food came, Atemu was very confused.
"Raw fish?" he asked.
"This fish is steamed." Cerise said, picking one up with the chopsticks and popping it into her mouth.
He picked up the sticks and couldn't grasp the sushi package. Cerise picked one up and popped it into his mouth.
"How's it taste?" she asked him.
He chewed it, before he swallowed.
"It's good. Show me how to use these sticks." He asked picking up the two sticks.
She showed him and he got it right on his first try.
"See, you really can master anything." She whispered to him, rubbing her nose to his.
Then as a gift from the owner of the bar, he asked his most experienced chef to do a display of the art of sushi making. He came forward and began with his show. He was flipping sushi around, throwing his knife in the air, and twirling it around his arms. But then threw the knife around and it went a little too far forward and went straight at Yugi. He closed his eyes and hoped for the best...
"Wow." Joey said.
Yugi opened his eyes and saw that Cerise had caught the knife between her index finger and her middle finger. He stared at the razor sharp edge and wondered how she didn't get cut. She twirled the knife around and handed it back to the chef.
"How did you do that?" Atemu asked her.
"Lucky shot." She said smiling.
"Did you get cut?" he asked, taking her hand and looking it over.
"I'm fine Atem." She smiled at him.
The chef carried on with the demonstration. As they were leaving the bar, Duke and Amber said that they were going to Duke's nightclub and asked them if they want to come with.
"No, I want to get enough sleep before tomorrow." Cerise said.
"Yes." Atemu agreed, as he reached around her and gently laid his hand on her hip.
"Okay, we'll see you later." Amber said, climbing into Duke's car.
"Okay, see you." Cerise said, getting into hers.
"Can we catch a lift with you?" Joey asked Cerise.
"You still need to ask. Hop in." she smiled.
She dropped off Joey and Tristan, but when it came to Yugi's house, there was a bit of a problem.
"You coming Pharaoh?" he asked him.
"No, I think I'll see at the airport tomorrow." Atemu smiled to Yugi.
"Okay, see you guys tomorrow." He said and walking into the front door of his house.
"Why didn't you want to go with him?" she asked Atemu.
"Is it too much to ask to spend the last night with you?" he asked.
She smiled and blushed.
"Besides, I have a surprise for you." He buckled up.
"A surprise, just as long as it has nothing to do with fangs." She joked.
"Sorry." She said, thinking that might have hurt him.
"It's ok. Let's just go home." He said to her and she smiled.
"Home." She smiled at him
When they got home, Atemu asked her to go wait in the bathroom for a while.
"In the bathroom?"
"Yes, just go. I'll call you when you can come out." He urged her on.
She kicked off her shoes and went into the bathroom. She sat there for ten minutes before he called her. She heard some music get put on.
"Okay, you come out now." He said.
She opened the door and saw a trail of little candles leading from the bathroom, through her room, to the living room. She followed the candles and when she got to the living room, she saw that he pushed the couch against the wall and lit candles everywhere. He had taken rose petals and thrown them on the ground.
"What's all this?" she asked.
"It's my going away present for you." He said, walking up to her.
"May I have your hand?" he said.
She placed her hand in his and he led her to the middle of the living room.
"A dance floor." She said softly.
He pulled her closer and started dancing with her.
"I didn't know you could dance?" she asked.
"I am a Pharaoh." He lifted his hand and turned her around.
He pulled her back to him and they carried on dancing.
"There are many things I can do that you don't know about." He smiled.
She put her head on his shoulder and slow danced with him. He kept his hand on the small of her back, despite the urge to slide it down. They slowed down for a while before she felt she had to tell him something.
"Amber says she's gonna test you, to see if you're worthy of me." she thought she would warn him.
"I'll do my best to pass." He smiled.
"What if she asks about the baby?" he asked her and she sighed.
"Hopefully, she won't but if she does." She said, looking up at him.
"Just tell her we lost it. She doesn't need to know why." She said sadly.
He stopped dancing and looked at her.
"I know you said you want to be engaged, in the very least, when you became pregnant." He started.
"And I know we can never replace what we lost..." he said.
"But will, having a baby, heal your soul?" he asked her.
She smiled at the thought. Until she met him, and had gotten so close to him, she had never really thought of becoming a mother. She thought of the life they could have, as a family.
"It will, I suppose." She smiled.
"I know we're both young, but I believe we can be good parents." He said to her.
"Me too, but not now." She said to him.
"If it will help you, I'll do anything." He said.
"I know. But the time isn't now." She said.
"I have no doubt that when the time is right, we'll have many babies. But until then, we just have to trust the fates know what they're doing." She smiled.
He smiled and nodded.
"Unless, you feel differently." She said to him, seeing the hurt in his eyes.
"It would have been nice to have something that was just ours." He admitted.
She leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips.
"If you want a baby, then we can talk about it when I get back." She smiled.
"No, I don't want to put pressure on you." He said, looking at her.
She smiled and laid her head back on his shoulder.
"I am only 18 after all." She said to him.
"Yes, I suppose we have our whole life." He said, laying his head gently against hers as they began dancing again.
"Atem, I want you to know I'm not leaving because of you." She said softly.
"I know, maybe this is what you need to do before you can go back." He said to her.
"Maybe." She took her head off his shoulder.
She saw tears in his eyes for the first time.
"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked.
"I'm going to miss you. It feels like I just found you." He admitted.
"I'm going to miss you too." She stroked his cheek with her hand.
He lent in to kiss her and she kissed him back. She didn't mind when he slid his hand down from the small of her back, she was doing the same. She opened her eyes and pulled away.
"We can't do this now. Not so soon after..." She said softly.
"I understand." He said, leading her to the couch.
He sat down and she got on next to him. She lay head down on his lap and turned to look up at him.
"So have you remembered anything else?"
"No, only that that I showed you." He said, looking down at her.
"Pity, I would like to know more." She sighed.
"You will, we will be living it, soon." He said, playing with her hair.
"Will we ever?" she asked. He frowned down at her.
"I mean will we ever get to that stage?" she added.
"Why do you ask?" he asked her.
She sighed and looked around the room, than back at him.
"It's just so hard to believe."
"You have to believe." He said.
"I will. I do, you see what I mean. I just have to see it." She said sleepily, before she yawned.
"Are you falling asleep?" he asked her.
"I think so." She nodded.
He picked her up and carried her to bed. He came back and blew out all the candles.
"Now where do I sleep?" he thought.
He sat down on the bed and took off his shoes and puzzle. He got under the duvet and cuddled up behind to her. He put his hand on her stomach and pulled her closer to him. She cuddled up to him, and put her hand over his.
Amber and Duke partied the whole night, so she never came home.
