Time for another chapter. This chapter may be short, but I promise the next chapter will be longer. Anyways, enjoy.
Chapter 28
Once the five of them entered the cave and fought a few more Forsworn warriors, they were inside the Karthspire. When they walked up the steep, they all saw three columns: one looks like and eye with a pair if horns above it, another looks like a ceremonial bowl with stylized fire and the last one looks like two dragon heads facing each other with an arrow pointing down.
As Esbern was observing the columns, he said "The last one is the symbol of the Dragonborn. I bet if all three matches the symbol of the Dragonborn, then the stone bridge will activate."
Blackheart then walks up to the columns and moves them until all of them match the symbol of the Dragonborn. All of a sudden, the stone bridge next to them on the left fell down and they all walked across it. When they were about to enter the room, Blackheart stopped them at the fact that the room was filled with pressure plates.
"This is fucking perfect," Blackheart said, "Now what?"
As Esbern observed the plates, he said "Hold up, there are symbols of the Dragonborn leading from here to the other side of the room. Be sure to follow the path and stay away from the other plates."
When Blackheart whined in agreement, he carefully walks over the Dragonborn symbols until he was on the other side. Once he pulls the chain, all the pressure plates deactivated while the bridge on the right fell down. After they all walked across the bridge, they all arrived at the entrance of the Sky Have Temple. The entrance was blocked by a giant face while on the floor was a gain symbol of the Dragonborn.
"Hm," Esbern said, "This looks a lot like a Blood Seal. In order to open the entrance, we need the Dragonborn to open it. In which case, we need, as you know, blood."
Blackheart blinks witlessly back and forth from the Blood Seal to Esbern and said "You have got to be kidding me."
Blackheart sighed in frustration as he kneels down near the symbol. He takes off his left glove, takes out his Trench knife and cuts the palm of his hands. As the blood was dripping from his hands, the Blood Seal lit up and the face was starting to open backwards. He then started to use his Healing Spell to heal his cut.
"Well done!" Esbern said, "It worked!"
Once the entrance was fully open, Esbern said "It is the right thing to do is let the Dragonborn enter the temple first."
Blackheart nodded his head in agreement and walked up the spiral stairs. Behind him, Lydia, M'aiq, Delphine and Esbern all followed him into the temple. As Blackheart steps into the temple for the first time, he was amazed at the design of the temple. Sure there were a lot of dust and the whole place was dark, but it was pretty fascinating. When he walks around the temple, everyone eventually entered the temple and saw the inside.
"Marvelous," Esbern said, "I can't believe that this place is still intact after all these years."
"Tell me about it," Delphine said, "I still can't believe this place existed."
Esbern said "This place was forgotten, not lost."
As Blackheart was looking around the place, he eventually found Alduin's Wall. In the far left, it showed the dragons attacking and destroying the people of Skyrim. In the middle, it showed three people standing up against Alduin and it looks like they are using their shouts to fight him.
That is when Esbern, Delphine, M'aiq and Lydia showed up and Esbern said "This is it, Alduin's Wall. This shows the past, present and future events on the prophecy of Alduin's rule."
Blackheart then said "Who are these people fighting Alduin?"
Esbern looks at the picture and said "Those are the Tongues. Back when Alduin ruled Skyrim, Akatosh gave the gift of the Voice to the Nords so that they can use the power of the Shout to fight off the dragons. The Tongues were actually the first Nords to use the Shout to defeat Alduin."
"Yeah," Blackheart said, "Look how that happened."
He then saw a picture of a figure in a strange armor getting on their feet as smoke surrounded them. Blackheart knew that this figure was him!
"Holy crap!" Blackheart said in a surprised way, "That's me!"
"What?!" everyone yelled when he said that.
Blackheart said "Yeah, when I first came to Skyrim, I was transported here and crashed in Helgen. I remember seeing smoke before the Imperials started to attack me."
When he looks in the far right, Blackheart saw him again facing Alduin using a Shout at him.
"And this is me fighting Alduin," Blackheart said.
Everyone saw the picture and M'aiq said "Are you using a Shout to defeat him?"
Everyone observed closer and Blackheart said "Appears so. But what shout am I using?"
"Does it matter?" Delphine asked.
Blackheart replied "Big time. Remember, this is the World Eater for crying out loud. He can't be killed like any other dragons. This Shout may be strong enough to kill him."
"But my Thane," Lydia said, "What shout is it?"
Blackheart replied "I don't know. Maybe the Greybeards know about this."
Delphine just gagged at that idea as Lydia said "Of course! They are the Masters of the Way of the Voice! Maybe they have the answers!"
"Don't count on it," Delphine said, "The Greybeards are nothing more but cowards."
In rage, Blackheart said "Why would you say that?"
Delphine replied "Think about it, the Greybeards have the power to end the Civil War that is going on and the power to fight off the dragons. But instead, they just sit on top of that mountain and do nothing about it. Instead of using their power to control the situation at hand, they would rather sit back and contain their power."
Disappointed with Delphine's response, Blackheart said "It's the Greybeards' choice on how to use their powers. If they don't want to help out, that's fine. No one is forcing them to do something they will regret later in life. And another thing, if I hear you talk crap about the Greybeards one more time, I swear to god, your ass is dead."
He wasn't kidding. Blackheart was starting to respect the Greybeards the first time he went to go visit them. When Delphine heard Blackheart's voice rise up like that, she knew that he was serious. The Blades and the Greybeards have their different views on the Dragonborn and how the Dragonborn's destiny is, but Delphine believes that the Blades will help Blackheart become the most powerful Dragonslayer Skyrim's ever known. But for Blackheart to stand up for the Greybeards, she had to watch what she has to say in the future.
She then took a gentle bow and said "Forgive me, Dragonborn. It's just…how do you know that Greybeards will help?"
Blackheart replied "Like Lydia said: they are the Masters of the Voice. They might know something about this Shout. After we are done here, we will head up to High Hrothgar."
"Um," Lydia said in a worried way, "Should we put that on hold?"
Blackheart looks at her and said "Why?"
M'aiq replied "Isn't there another problem that we have to deal with?"
When Blackheart was about to reply, he said "Fuck! I forgot about Harkon and the vampires! Isran is going to be so pissed to hear that I didn't return to report to him!"
"I bet," Delphine said, "When he hears about how you gave him an Elder Scroll, he will kill you."
Esbern then said "At anyway, you should all rest up before you all leave. After the battle you all went through, you must be exhausted."
Blackheart looks at the time and it was almost 7.
"You're right," Blackheart said, "If we head out, it will already be night. Let's just rest up and head out in the morning."
"I hope you find something," Esbern said, "In the meantime, me and Delphine will straighten this place out."
When they all agreed, they all head out to find rooms and when they did, everyone went to sleep.
It was already midnight when Blackheart woke up. He couldn't get any sleep knowing Skyrim is in danger. He put on his Black Brotherhood Armor, minus the helmet, and made his way to the courtyard. Once he was there, he began to breathe calmly before beginning to concentrate.
"What are you doing?" Mephala asked.
Blackheart replied "I am trying to do that fire spell I did to kill Ugrad. But the more I try to focus, to harder it is to do."
Mephala said "I'm no magic user, though I am a Daedric Lord, but what were you feeling when you fought Ugrad?"
Blackheart replied "I was mad, furious and most of all…uncontrollable."
Mephala said "It does make sense. I mean, sometimes a person can unlock extraordinary powers if their emotions get in the way. For example, when your rage exploded when Ugrad told you that he killed Kiara's parents, you body was cover in fire. That was a Fire Cloak Spell."
"And that does what?" Blackheart asked.
Mephala replied "It cover you entire body and does extra fire damage to your enemies."
"I see," Blackheart said, "So…all I have to do is get anger?"
Mephala replied "Appears so."
Blackheart closed his eyes and channeled all his anger. When he opened his eyes once more, his whole body was covered in fire. Blackheart looks at his hands and said "I guess it works. This might be useful when I am facing Harkon and the vampires."
Suddenly a voice out of nowhere said "I am certain that you will succeed."
When Blackheart turns around, he saw Esbern walking towards him. When he was near, Blackheart lowered his Fire Cloak Spell.
"Hey old man," Blackheart said, "Trouble sleeping too?"
Esbern shook his head and said "No, I was going through some books when I heard you getting up. Is something wrong?"
Blackheart said "I was just testing my new spell that is all."
Esbern wasn't convinced. He knew that something was disturbing Blackheart, but he didn't want to tell anyone.
"What is it, Dragonborn?" Esbern asked, "I know something is wrong."
Blackheart let out a sigh of defeat and said "It's just…why me?"
As Esbern gave off a confused look, Blackheart said "I mean, why choose me to be this Dragonborn? There are a lot of potential candidates in Skyrim, but why me? I'm not from around here."
Esbern said "I know, your Housecarl told me everything about you. She even told me about this Capital Wasteland that you use to live in."
"Then you know what I mean," Blackheart said, "I mean, why me?"
Esbern shrugged and said "The gods work in mysterious ways, my boy."
He then said "Look, I don't know why the gods chosen you, but I do know that Skyrim needs you."
"That's a great answer," Blackheart said in a sarcastic way, "But what if they made the right choice."
Shocked, Esbern said "I believe so. From what your followers and Delphine have told me, you have quite a talent for…eliminating…the problem. If there is anyone who can eliminate the dragons, it's you."
Blackheart smiled and said "Thanks."
"You should get some sleep," Esbern said, "You have a long journey ahead of you."
"Yeah," Blackheart said, "And a pain in the ass too."
As Esbern smiled, he went off to bed. Blackheart stood outside for awhile and three things were going through his mind right now. The first thing was how he was going to defeat Alduin with a Shout that he doesn't know. The second was dealing with a Vampire Lord who was in possession of an Elder Scroll that possibly contains information that can end all life. And the last thing that was on Blackheart's mind was how he became the Dragonborn. But he decides to put those ideas aside and worry about the situation at hand. He then went back to the room and went to sleep.
"My Thane," Lydia said, "Wake up."
Blackheart let out a loud yawn and said "What time is it?"
Mephala replied "It is already 8."
"Damn it," Blackheart said as he got up, "Alright, let's supply up and head to Fort Dawnguard."
"We already did that," M'aiq said.
Blackheart said "I don't believe you."
When he saw M'aiq and Lydia smile, he said "Fuck!"
The both of them laughed and M'aiq said "M'aiq told you that he wouldn't believe me."
"I admit," Lydia said, "That was a bit funny."
Mephala then said "Looks like I am getting a new follower soon."
Lydia said "Don't get your hopes up."
After Blackheart changed into his Black Brotherhood Armor, he said "Okay, let's go."
When the three of them were near the entrance, Delphine's voice said "Blackheart, wait."
As three of them turned around, they saw Delphine in a new set of armor that was known as the Blades Armor. In her hands was another set of Blades Armor and on top of it was a katanna sword called the Dragonbane. When she was near Blackheart, she said "Here, take this for your journey. Please, take them as our appreciation."
When Blackheart took the armor and the sword and puts it away in his Dragon Gauntlet, he said "Thank you, Delphine. I'll be sure to use them"
Delphine said "I hope that you succeed. If you need anything, you know where to find us."
"Thanks," Blackheart said, "We'll be back soon."
After that, the three of them left Sky Haven Temple and made their way to Fort Dawnguard. Blackheart then said "Let's stop by Whiterun. We need to make sure Kiara is alright."
Lydia then said "We need to make sure to let her know about her parents' death as well."
Blackheart took a deep breathe and said "I'll tell her. It'll break my heart to tell her."
When they all agreed, they made their way to Whiterun. But along the way, they will encounter more problems and a new unexpected companion.
Now it is time to do another Daedric Quest! Whoever quest the next Daedric Quest will get a shout out in the next chapter. Although the next companion will be another one of my OC characters, whoever guesses the race my OC will be and I will give them a virtual cookie. Until then review!
