In a jumbled mess on her bed, she and Adrien half lay. It had been a busy day in the bakery and with how close they'd gotten once she'd gotten over her stutter and with the love that bloomed, they'd somehow broken past any physical barriers that barred simple and innocent affection.
Marinette's mind wandered from where they cuddled, and she slowly reached up to run her fingers through soft blond hair, soft since he hadn't gelled it back quite yet for modeling since it had been a free day, and he'd slipped into the bakery for a day of bakery, laughter, and chatter. Her parents treated him just like he was their son, much to Adrien's delight, and Marinette's joy. Their acceptance of the two of them meant the world to the teenager.
Her fingers gently traced out a pattern through his hair as she lazily let them droop down to give him chin scratches even though she only ever gave them to Cat Noir. He'd visited the night before with the simple excuse of just being in the neighborhood though she knew better. Cat Noir had probably just wanted to visit again, so she'd gotten him some sweets and beat him at Ultimate Mecha Strike III as well as offered him some chin scratches later on after he'd lost and gave her kitty eyes. Honestly, she half wondered why she still took him into her home and took care of him; he honestly was her best friend other than Alya.
She closed her eyes as she gingerly scratched his chin the way that she always seemed to do to Cat Noir, too sleepy and content, snuggled up against her boyfriend to stop and consider not doing so.
Marinette only paused her scratching when a soft sound caught her ear. It sounded nothing like how the warm body felt aainst her; the closer, she listened the more her head spun actually.
It sounded almost like, but it couldn't be, could it? She snuggled closer to hear better as well as to snuggle further against the warmth of her snug boyfriend against her. The only person that ever made that sound when she gave long chin scratches was Cat Noir, but he wasn't in her arms right now, Adrien was.
Reality spilled right over her, bringing with it the steady warmth of her boyfriend as her eyes flickered down to him, "A-Are you purring, Adrien?"
He peeked up at her through sleepy, green eyes, "Am I?" He muttered, and as soon as the words left his mouth, his eyes widened, startled and suddenly nervous.
Suddenly, she knew with a feeling that hit her heart harder and faster than she ever could imagine that a feeling could. "Are you?" She stammered, losing her focus, unsure of how to ask if he was her superhero partner without sounding completely nuts or without exposing her own identity somehow without being sure as of yet.
"I guess that I was purring." Adrien's face tinted pink, and Marinette couldn't help how adorable, she felt that it was before she shook it off to clarify her thoughts.
"No, I mean, is there a reason why you purr when I scratch your chin?" She stretched out beside him, not taking her blue eyes off of her boyfriend for even a second. She had to be sure of who he was first.
"Well, I guess so..." Adrien's face paled with his nerves, and she couldn't help how her eyes stayed riveted on him. It wasn't enough, but she'd have to go out on a limb here for a second to really know.
"The only other person that purrs when I give him chin scratches is Cat Noir." Marinette couldn't hold back how it came out as more of a statement, something that could be overlooked or ignored, but could also be answered as if it were a question really.
"I know." Adrien muttered, and she felt like she had to wrap her arms tighter around him.
"Are you?" She asked again, nervous to say the rest of her question out loud and perfectly sure that he'll understand.
"I am." Adrien muttered as he spun around to face her better, "Is that okay?"
"Anyone would be honored to know that their boyfriend is the superhero of Paris, and if I wasn't okay with it, I'd be a hypocrite." Marinette added, smiling up at him, trying to ignore how her mind wanted to rush away and reevaluate every memory that she had with Cat Noir in it to trace out the signs and similarities to her civilian boyfriend. The idea bursted in her mind, and yet her belly erupted with butterflies at the thought that Adrien had been the one to bear his heart to her that Parisian night, that he'd been the one to kiss her cheek, and that he'd been the one to give her a rose to keep and always remember.
It was a while ago, and yet her heart erupted in love, warmth, and affection anyway.
"A hypocrite?" Adrien's eyes widened even further, burning with a million questions, and yet half afraid to ask them.
"It's me, Chaton." Marinette whispered, smiling at him, happy despite the dizzying rush of emotions in her chest, hapy to have discovered that her boyfriend was also the partner that she trusted with so much including her life.
She couldn't believe her luck today, but she'd take it as it is with the best kind of joy possible as her fingers intertwined with his and as she snuggled closer.
"M'lady," She hadn't heard that nickname in so long, and her heart spun in a dancing twirl as she stared into bright, green eyes; everything would be okay as love danced in and around her chest.
