A/N: Hi Everyone. Thanks for the reviews.
I apologize for being a little late with updating. I ordered some movies from Amazon and I've been busy enjoying them. Want to know what the best one is? Even though I already own all of the Twilight movies, I didn't have all of the special editions, so instead of buying those, I ordered the Twilight Forever Boxset. It has 12 discs with tons of new content. It's awesome.
On one of the features, someone brought up the subject of 'Chuckesme' (the mechanical doll that was going to be used for baby Renesmee). When they showed a clip of what it looked like, I literally fell off my sofa laughing. It was just so creepy, it was funny. It really did look like a cross between Chucky and Renesmee. :)
I'm just glad I found it to be more funny than creepy because I have a slight fear of dolls. Not all dolls, but certain kinds like those old wooden ventriliquist dolls (not the kind that Jeff Dunham uses, I love those ones), realistic baby dolls, and old cloth dolls, really creep me out.
So, now you know a little more about me. I have a fear of dolls, and I love to watch Jeff Dunham. Now on to the story.
Disclaimer: Stephenie Meyer owns Twilight.
Chapter 29 - Step 3. Meet the Dads
BPOV
As we approached the kitchen, we could hear my father and Phil talking and chuckling about something, but I didn't know about what.
But as soon as I stepped across the threshold leading into the kitchen, I think I figured it out.
Charlie was sitting at one end of the table cleaning his shotgun, with the rest of his guns and boxes of ammo resting in front of him. And sitting across from him was Phil, who was sharpening my dad's hunting and fishing knives.
They were so caught up with talking and cleaning, that they didn't notice us.
That is until Riley muttered, "Oh, shit!"
Dad and Phil stopped what they were doing and looked up, their faces now blank, wiped free of any emotions.
I knew what they were doing. While most people would think that they were trying to seem intimidating, I knew that they were really trying to keep themselves from laughing at the expression of sheer terror on Riley's face.
I sighed and rolled my eyes at them, while grabbing Riley's hand and pulling him closer to the two men.
"Dad, Phil, this is my boyfriend, Riley Biers." I looked at Riley and said, "Riley, this is my father, Charlie, and this is Phil, my stepdad."
"Um, It's n-nice to m-m-meet you both," he stuttered nervously.
My dad gave Phil a 'look' before saying, "We'll see about that."
I was about to tell him to behave when Phil pushed the chair that was sitting bewteen them out with his foot. "Have a seat, Riley."
Riley looked at me first, not sure what he should do. "I'm not really comfortable being that close to guns and large knives."
"Relax, Riley. You have nothing to worry about. The knives are in a case, and the guns aren't even loaded, see?" I asked as I picked up my dad's service weapon. I learned enough about guns from my dad to know that when the safety is on, it's okay to handle. I unclipped the magazine to prove to Riley that it was empty...only it wasn't.
"I thought you said they were empty!" he shouted at me, now even more afraid.
"Calm down, son. In Bella's defense, that one is the only one that ever stays loaded, since that's the one I use at work. The only time I load the other ones is if I'm going to use them," my dad explained. "Now come over here and sit down. I think you and Bella need to tell us the truth about what is going on."
I certainly didn't see that coming. "What are you talking about, Dad?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Bells. I'm a cop. I supposed to be able to tell when someone is lying."
"Besides, you've always been a terrible liar," said Phil. "So what's up?"
I started pacing around the kitchen while Riley sat and watched me. "Fine," I sighed. "I'll tell you, but you cannot tell mom or Esme. Got it?"
They nodded are motioned for me to continue. "Dad, you know how Edward and I aren't close anymore?" He nodded. "Well, we've been trying to work out some of our issues, and we've been on good terms lately, but we're at a point where everything is kind of volatile. Having Esme and Mom trying to push us into a relationship we're not ready for, would only do more harm than good, so I came up with a plan to get them to stop."
"So what's Riley's part in this plan?" asked Phil.
"My plan is to get Mom and Esme to think that I already have a boyfriend, so they'll stop trying to push Edward and I together. And since I don't have an actual boyfriend to use, I called up Riley and asked him if would be willing to pose as my boyfriend until it was time for you and Mom to go home. And then I'd wait a week or two before calling Mom and telling her that things didn't work out for us and that we were more suited for being friends," I explained.
"Who else is in on this plan?" asked Charlie.
"Rose, Emmett, Edward, Riley, myself, and now you two."
My dad rubbed his face with his hands, and said, "I can understand why you felt the need to do this, but you could have let us in on your plan from the start. So now that we know what's going on, I think we'll get along real well with Riley."
"Thanks, you guys. I really owe you." I turned to Riley and informed him that I was going to go sit with my mom and Rose, while he could hang out in here with the men. He agreed to it, and as I walked out of the kitchen, I heard my dad ask, "So Riley, you ever been fishing before?"
I didn't hear Riley's answer, but I knew regardless of his answer, that my father was going to have another fishing buddy with him and Phil tomorrow. Whether Riley wanted to or not.
Oh well, it will keep him occupied while I work.
The rest of the night went smoothly. We ordered a couple of pizzas and got to know each other some more. And before we knew it, it was time for Mom, Phil, and Riley, to leave for the night.
I hope tomorrow goes well for everyone.
A/N: Did it turn out okay? What did you think?
I know it's been awhile since I did an EPOV, but hopefully we'll get one soon. I was thinking maybe in 2 or 3 chapters.
Since this chapter has a lot of fear in it, what are YOU afraid of?
I'm severely afraid of spiders, dolls, dummies, clowns, and lawn gnomes. YES, LAWN GNOMES. They really creep me out ever since I was a kid and watched this one episode of Goosebumps where the lawn gnomes attacked people. I've hated them ever since.
Anyways, I'll see you soon!
