Rogue's POV

I flinched as Luce curled up in fear as she met my eyes. I watched her reaction as I slowly made my way towards her, and with every step she seemed to shake in fear. I felt a sadness fill me as I stopped. The thought of her fearing me, that I'm causing her pain, it was too much... no matter how much I wanted to hug her and... kiss her... and tell her I love her... All the things I didn't do and all the things I didn't say before she was taken away. I backed away and sat back down next to Sting, his hand patting me on the shoulder... his slightly gay comments about love and how it was difficult when there wasn't any sexy time. I sighed, Why is she suddenly scared of me...? Even with amnesia, I don't recall doing anything that would cause fear. I thought back to the times before the GMG's, when I was silent and stoic. I didn't talk or smile. I didn't go out to hurt people though, I wasn't like Minerva...

"Natsu...?" Her beautiful voice echoed around the room and Natsu was by her side in a flash. "What is it Luce?" She smiled at him, piercing me through the heart, "..." Her mouth moved, Natsu nodding to what she was saying as he looked up and glanced at me. I watched her lips intently, trying to forge the words she was saying. He slowly got up and made his way over to myself and Sting. Gray, Erza and Wendy crowded around Luce in Natsu's place. Dragneel's face straight as he looked at us, "She's scared. Of you two." I gulped, repeating the words in my head. Sting glared at him, "What do you mean?! She can't possibly be scared after all we've been through." His voice came out as a harsh whisper. Natsu shook his head, "I really don't know... We'll have to wait for Wendy to finish her check up."

I leaned back on my chair and closed my eyes, in hopes that when I opened them again her angelic smile would be aimed at me. Her lovesick fool.

I yawned, rubbing my eyes and sat up on my chair. My eyes flickered to Luce, who was now sleeping in the infirmary bed. Little Wendy was sitting by her bed, her hands glowing and focused on Luce's forehead. She looked up, I suppose she sensed my awaking. "Rogue-san..." She gestured for me to join her. Her small frame was covered in beads of sweat from the amount of magic she was using. I breathed slowly as if preparing myself for bad news, "So... how is she?" Wendy frowned and a little wrinkle formed between her brows, "She seems to have a memory problem I guess... not in the sense that she's forgotten anything though. It's more like, her memories have been manipulated and... uh..." She paused as her hands settled on her lap, "The thing is... Only her memories about you have been changed."

I think my eyebrows flew to the roof as they raised themselves, "What do you mean?" My tongue licked my dried lips. "She remembers everything, except it's slightly different from what actually happened. She says that you're evil. That you were laughing as Minerva dropped her during the Naval Battle, and that you burnt her with your shadows when you went swimming... and so on." I could only blink at this revelation. So her memories have been thwarted... "What about Sting?" Wendy shook her head, "It's only you... She was perfectly fine talking with Sting-san before..." As my silence extended Wendy quietly apologised before leaving the room. Only the memories involving me. So now she thinks I'm a bad person. Hn.

I watched the blonde beauty's chest rise and fall in slow and steady periods. The only thing running through my mind were the memories we shared together, the real ones. Where we were happy together, and I... fell in love. I clicked my tongue and stood up. How can I live now? Being close to her would only bring her fear. I walked out of the infirmary to be greeted by a quiet guild. A bunch of drunkards on the floor, and a small collection of people gathered around a table.

Team Natsu, Mirajane, Levy and Gajeel, along with Sting and our sleeping exceeds. I sat down next to my partner and listened to their conversation. Talk of what happened to Luce and how it can be fixed, and talk of what should be done in the mean time. "Rogue. I'm sure Wendy has already told you what's going on...?" Mirajane's voice pierced through the conversation and the whole table fell silent. I nodded and she gave a sad smile, "I'm sorry Rogue... but I've contacted Freed on the lacrima and his team is going to search for an antidote while they're on their mission." I nodded again. I couldn't bring myself to say anything, so the conversation began again.

"From what I could find in the guilds library, there's a type of potion that can change memories however the giver intends. It's now an illegal potion, but I found several underground black markets that sell it." Levy was skimming through books with her gale-force reading glasses. Dumping the book on Gajeel she reached for another one, "This one shows an injection that is made of poison that allows one to manipulate memories into nightmares. There's only one person that can make it though, and he doesn't distribute it to anyone." Gray turned to Levy, "Who's this person?" She shrugged and opened another book. "I'm not sure. The poison is extracted from some sort of magical rose thorn though, and only those who can produce the flower can get the poison. So the maker is most probably a mage to do with plants... like Droy for example." Gajeel chucked the books on his lap onto the floor, causing Levy to squeak in displeasure, "Then lets ask Droy." He went to stand up but Levy scolded him, telling him to pick up the books and sit back down.

I shook my head, "It was probably that stupid prince." Natsu picked up on my muttered sentence and nodded. "Lover Boy's right. He was the rose dragon slayer, which means that he could make the rose poison thingy... yeah." Gray gasped, "I got it!" His fist pounded on the table at his discovery, "Wasn't Lucy wrapped in vines when we found her? Roses as well right? And you were pulling the thorns out of her." His finger pointed at me and he wiggled it around a bit. "Please tell me you happened to keep the thorns...?" Sting pushed Gray's wiggling finger away, "Why would he do that, it's not like he was thinking about it. Too busy trying to care for his beloved." I brought my hand to my face in hopes to cover the redness that was threatening to show. Erza interrupted, "Well it looks like we need to find a way to remove the poison and fast, otherwise it might not only affect her memories with Rogue." Wendy nodded beside her, "Yes... Erza-san, do you know how long we have until they'll start becoming worse?" Erza sighed, "No. We have to keep one thing in mind though." "What's that Erza-san?" Everyone's eyes turned to Erza at little Wendy's question.

"Poison kills."

No I'm not killing Lucy... just thought I'd get that out of the way XD
