AN: This story is the easiest for me to update (as you can probably tell). I adore Severus and his story. But I love the idea of him with Hermione. Once again anything you recognize is JK Rowling's anything you don't is mine.

Hermione POV

August 21, 1994

Harry and Sirius came through the floo shaking soot out of their hair. Ginny stared at Sirius her eyes round with shock. I couldn't tell if she was admiring Harry or Sirius. Because it seemed that Sirius had done something to change his looks. He no longer looked like a malnutritioned Holocaust survivor but a very handsome older man in a nicely tailored outfit. Ginny and I traded a wide-eyed look. She swallowed nervously and I pulled on one of my curls.

"Harry! Dear good to see you." Mrs. Weasley said placing a kiss against his cheek. He flushed in embarrassment then she turned to Sirius. "Good to see you Sirius."

"You too Molly." He said with a nod.

"Oh Harry you look so thin!" Ginny and I traded a little smile. We both knew her mum would say that when she saw Harry. She always did. "Sit down and eat with the girls."

She placed her hands on his shoulders and glided him into a chair. He sat with a little huff and rolled his eyes. "Hi Harry."

"Mione?" He asked turning to look at me. I smiled and his eyes widened a little. "What?"

"You just look different." He muttered shoving a sandwich in his mouth.

"Funny." I muttered rolling my eyes. "Anyway did you hear about that mental law the Wizengamot is trying to force through?"

"Yes!" He said shaking his head with disgust. "Completely mental if you ask me. Sirius says he thinks the council will come to their senses."

"I hope so." I muttered biting into an apple. "Anyway who do you think will win the Quidditch World Cup, Ireland or Bulgaria?"

"I don't really care as long as its entertaining." I threw back my head and laughed.

Severus POV

August 22, 1994

The game had gone much faster than I had expected. But to be perfectly honest I had barely watched the game. I had watched two different things instead. Granger and the gorgeous Veela. My eyes had kept going back to the Veela. Sweet Salazar they were gorgeous.

I shook my head as I quietly made my way down the rows of tents. Something. Felt. Off. I couldn't tell what it was but I wasn't going to sleep till I figured out the problem.

Out of nowhere it seemed a tent burst into flames. Bloody hell! People in black swirling robes with masks started marching down an open path. My heart clenched in my chest. No. Why would they be here now? They had been inactive for years!

But it was true. Death Eaters were wrecking havoc lighting tents on fire. People were screaming and running every which way but there was only one thing I could thing about. The Trio. I had to get to them!

I forced my way through the stampeding people looking for the only people I cared about. A shrill scream that made my heart clench made me turn. Granger. I pushed someone out of the way and ran towards her.

"GRANGER!" I yelled as someone pushed her roughly. She screamed and started to fall her pink nightgown twisting around her legs. I ran forward and caught before she could fall. She had tears on her cheeks and wrapped her arms tightly around the arm I had around her middle.

"HERMIONE!" Potter and Weasley were trying to force their way through the crowd.

"Professor, I have to get to them." Granger gasped, trying to stop her tears.

"I'll help you." I muttered gruffly. "They probably want Potter anyway."

"What! Why?!" She asked as I locked our fingers together and pulled her through the crowd.

"Just a hunch." I muttered as we ran through the treeline. Potter was pushing his way through the people and slammed into Hermione wrapping his arms around her. I took a step back and stood to my full height. Potter was whispering into her hair his lips moving quickly.

"Thank you, Professor." Weasley said with a nod. I nodded back and turned away from the trio. Granger deserved to be with her friends and I had some Death Eaters to hunt down. When I was sure the trio was occupied I ran out of the forest my wand clutched in my hand. The moment I got close to the Death Eaters they all Disapparated. Son of a –

"LOOK!" Someone yelled. I turned and froze. The Dark Mark. Bloody hell! More people screamed and I stared in shock at the Dark Lords calling card. Merlin, why was life never easy?
