"We should wait for the others before we go see Tristan, shouldn't we?" Hazel asked once again as the two girls piled some weapons into the van. They had gone over the plan many times but each time they always came down to the question 'when' they wanted to do it with the others but they felt that the guys-especially Will and Jason-needed a bit of a fun day out and didn't want to ruin it by coming in saying 'Hey guys guess what, we're picking you up to go break it to our dead friend's father that his little girl is dead, fun yeah?' It didn't seem fair to put them through that talk, but they both agreed on that the others would feel a bit angry that they went and did it without them. They'd also be angry that Annabeth tricked them into not being there when Hazel got possessed by Ella-willingly.

Annabeth looked away at this, a bit bored with the question but an understandable one, even she was unsure about which one to choose and it was even more likely for Hazel to be more bothered by the question. Annabeth gnawed on her cheek, a habit which she had picked up on subconsciously whenever she was stressed, she guessed she picked it up from Malcolm, her brother, who does it constantly, which annoys everyone in the cabin, though not as much as Will annoyed them.

"It'll be fine, it's probably better that Jason isn't there anyway…being near her family wouldn't help him right now." Annabeth said gently as she sat in the driver's seat, they had gotten a replacement from Olympus after Will/Piper ruined the other truck and barely anyone has touched it since they received it. Too many bad memories.

"No it wouldn't…it wouldn't help anyone." She said bitterly and Annabeth looked at her surprised. Not once has she seen Hazel be bitter, angry perhaps, but bitter? No, Annabeth had never seen Hazel be bitter. And it took her by surprise.

"Hazel…we need to do this quest, I want it done and over with." Annabeth sighed as she started the van. "And to do that, we need answers. We have gotten some, but that's the back story of it all, we don't know what their planning-we don't know…Tristan right now, is the only lead we have. And we can't chicken out."

Hazel was silent at this and looked out the window and it was silent, Annabeth didn't mind it, she liked the silence sometimes, it calmed her down, she drove through the streets. Right, left, straight, left. The instructions on how to get to Tristan's house was what kept her from wandering to thoughts she didn't want.

When they pulled up to the mansion all they could do was sit and stare at the building in front of them. They knew he was famous-but famous enough to own a three story mansion with huge, well cared for gardens in front with a fountain bursting high into the air? And they could see the size of his garage, a collection of cars probably.

After a minute of gazing at the mansion Hazel slowly got out and Annabeth closely followed her, breathing slowly as they walked up to the Iron Gate. It was Annabeth who pressed the buzzer to the house and they waited a while for Coach Hedge to pick up but when he did, he seemed cheerful as he saw the two girls' faces.

"Tristan, I'm Annabeth Chase and this is Hazel Levesque, we were good friends of your daughter." Annabeth said sipping on her tea as she settled into the leather couch. Hazel shifted in her seat uncomfortably next to her as Tristan looked at the two girls across from them.

"Oh, really? That's great." He said with a huge grin and the two girls glanced at each other unsure how to proceed. After a minute of silence, the grin on his face disappeared as he realised that this probably wasn't a happy visit. "What? What happened? Is she ok?"

Annabeth took a shaky breath and began. "No, she isn't. I'm so sorry Mr. Mclean but…there was an accident, a car accident…she died quickly I swear." She whispered meeting his eyes and the cup of tea in his hand fell onto the table shattering instantly.

It was silent for a long time as Tristan got use to the fact that his daughter had died a couple of days before. After another minute Annabeth pulled out a photograph and leant over so she could hand it to him. "This is her with all of her friends…the guy holding her is her boyfriend…was her boyfriend…Jason, he's a great guy…I realise she probably never had a picture of everyone together…nor do you." She said gently and he took it gingerly and scanned each face again and again until he stopped at one person, though they assumed it was Piper or Jason he was looking at but his face suddenly went pale and he slammed the photo down onto the table and was shaking. "M..Mr Mclean?"

"Darkwood? She's friends with a Darkwood?" He snarled and they all stiffened. Will. He was looking at Will. "Which one? Which child is he of? Zeus? Ares?"

Hazel glanced at Annabeth who looked at Tristan with a slight frown on her pretty face. He knew about the Darkwood's, that much was plain obvious but to know about the gods…Piper said even Aphrodite thought that this man was not strong enough to deal with the reality of the world…yet he had probably known about the gods even before Aphrodite.

"Athena…" Hazel finally said and his eyes went wide and he jolted up, shaking, though some might have taken it for anger, it wasn't long before Annabeth realised that it wasn't anger-it was fear.

"Athena's? He's meant to be dead? I made sure that…I made sure that the boy died!" He yelled and Annabeth jolted her head towards him. "I put him…I put him on that boat…I made it sink…I…did everything I could so that she wouldn't be hurt by him but yet he still lives? Tell me, who was it, who was driving the other car?"

Annabeth's mind was swirling, on the one hand he practically just admitted that he had tried to kill Will but on the other hand, it seemed that he was doing it to protect Piper…both sides had its ups and downs but Annabeth suddenly felt a sudden loathing to the man in front of her, and she knew then that no matter what his reasons were, if he had done one bad thing to her brother then she instantly hated him.

"We don't know." She said carefully picking up her cup and Hazel glanced at her, obviously worried at what Annabeth would do with this new information but Annabeth gave her nothing to prove what she was thinking. Tristan looked at her, not convinced by this at all but Annabeth kept her gaze and Hazel suddenly leaned forward, placing her hand on Annabeth's shoulder.

"I think our time here has run out, the guys should be back by now." Hazel said carefully and Annabeth nodded sliding the cup back onto the table, and then stood up but the man jolted forward, grabbing her arm and she stiffened.

"Wait, I want to come-I want to see her body." He said a desperate look in his dark brown eyes, Annabeth raised an eyebrow at him, not believing the excuse he gave to come with him.

"Oh really? Or do you just want to come and kill my brother?" She snapped and she frowned, taken by surprise by this. She didn't expect herself to lose control like she just did and Hazel jumped slightly and Tristan flinched.

"Please." He said, his shoulders sagging and Annabeth sighed, unsure of what to do, on what hand, he did have the right to see her body but on the other who knows what it would do to her brother.

"Fine, you can come." She finally said and didn't know if she was making the right decision but no matter, if it would make Will feel something again then Annabeth would have to make that risk of bringing him with them…even if the emotion was pain.
