Chapter 29

.

The atmosphere in the rooms that the Cullen's occupied was thick with anticipation. Alice was fluttering back and forth, from the window to the bathroom in Jasper's room back to the window. She would stop for a moment to look in the closet at the selection of clothing she purchased for herself and her husband. There were a couple of dresses for Kagome as well.

"I can't believe you already bought dresses for Kagome, Alice." Rosalie said to Alice to hopefully stop her from her pacing. Alice turned and looked at her sister.

"What do you mean? I know that she is going to wear them. I saw it. It will be a few days from now. You're going to spill something on her."

"Where is it happening?"

"I don't know. I saw her wearing it earlier. It was when you both caught her when she was falling over. She's pretty clumsy huh?" Not even waiting for the answer she started pacing again.

"How much time has passed since I last asked?"

"Two minutes dear. Just two minutes. You should stop with the pacing. It might be a good time to try to figure out what we should do next."

"I can't. We can't. Damn it. I can't see anything again." Alice sat down on the loveseat next to her husband. Jasper reached over and squeezed her knee.

"I can't even see what is happening with us pertaining to her. I see nothing. She is messing with my sight. It's frustrating."

"I don't get it though. How do you see anything at all if you don't see what happens next? I know you know that we spend time with her for the next few days. Hopefully all the days before she heads back to Japan. I wonder what we can do to get her to stay." Emmett said as he played chess with Carlisle. It wasn't a game that he played often with him, but it helped to pass the time. He too felt like it was going by too slow.

"It's like she doesn't exist. I see what happens, brief glimpses of the future with us. I don't see everything though. Some of it changes from when I first saw it. Like the baby. But then I see a bigger kid and her slightly older."

"Well, doesn't that mean she is going to be with us as the child grows up?"

"I didn't see what leads to those moments though. It's like I can't see if she changes her mind and if those changes will affect that future. I only see blips. For example the dresses. I see her changing at our house. But that might change the next time one of us touches her." She started to grin as she looked at Rosalie.

"I saw her sitting between the two of you when the baby was there. We were sitting at the dining room table and you were holding the baby and feeding them."

Rosalie sat up and looked sharply at her sister. "There was more than one child?"

Alice shook her head. "No, just one. I can't tell if it's a girl or boy though. The baby was wrapped in a yellow receiving blanket and was wearing a white onesie."

"Well, could you tell when the child was older?" Esme asked as she came over to sit in one of the wingback chair that decorated the sitting room. There were two loveseats and two wingback chairs. Currently the loveseats were occupied by Jasper and Alice with Rosalie sitting on the other one. Carlisle and Emmett were sitting at the dining table playing their game. Esme had been standing out on the balcony before talk of the baby started.

"I couldn't tell when either. We were playing in the snow having a snowball fight and the whole family was there."

"Jacob too?" Emmett put in. Slamming down his queen he hollered. "Check."

"Yeah, Jacob was there in his wolf form." Alice scrunched her face as she thought. "I don't have an idea why he was in his other form. Anyways," She shook her head as if erasing the thought, "the child was all bundled up. Completely covered in a rainbow of colors. That is frustrating as well. How can I shop when I don't know when the baby will be here or what sex it is, or how fast the child will grow?"

"I think it would be obvious," Carlisle added as he moved one of his knights. Chuckling at the 'shit' Emmett uttered under his breath, he turned to face his family for the moment. "After the birth of Renesme, she grew at an exponential rate."

"I don't know Carlisle. It seemed as if the child grew at a regular rate."

"How can that be?"

"She's special."

"Yeah, you said that before." Rosalie said as she turned around again. Resting her legs over the rest of the couch. She leafed through one of several fashion magazines she purchased on the way up to the rooms. "What do you mean she is special? I thought it meant that she wasn't going to have to be turned into a vampire and that she was having a child with us."

"That's just it. It's one of the things that I can't see. I know it, that there is something that makes her different than others. It's what keeps her with us. It is the same thing that makes her still human after giving birth to the baby."

"Can you tell who the father is?"

"I know who it's not."

"Well?"

"It's not Carlisle or Edward."

"How?"

Alice snickered then. She looked up to Carlisle and saw as he looked over to her again, as if he knew she was talking about him.

"The child refers to Carlisle as Papa."

"That could mean he is the father."

"I don't think so. I am not sure exactly who it could be. I just know that he wasn't the father of the child."

"Well…" Emmett said as he turned away from the game. Smiling at Carlisle he ambled over to his mate's side. Lifting her legs he sat down and laid them down over his lap. He began to massage Rosalie's feet and he tossed a smirk at her while she groaned. Emmett turned back to Alice.

"I know I'm in. I can't wait to see where this relationship goes."

"And I'm in as well." Rosalie interjected. She too stopped what she was doing and looked over to everyone else.

"Well, there you have it. It's going to be the two of you. How do you feel about sharing?"

Rosalie grinned at her husband and turned back to address Jasper. The smile grew when she looked him in the eyes.

"I can't explain how I feel about her. Just that I do. And it grows every time I'm with her. It isn't love, but lust. I think with time it will grow though. I can't really imagine her not there with us. And I don't think I could be with her without Emmett, even thinking about it is wrong."

Alice shook her head at their words. "I don't know if it's just the two of you. I don't know if Jasper and I feel the same way. I can see you both around Kagome and the baby but the vision of the two of them, both older, shows the whole family. And I can't tell anything from that except that we are all there."

Jasper turned to his wife again sending calm waves her way. He could feel her frustration starting to get out of hand. Putting his paper down, he reached over and slowly ran his hand up and down her back. Sitting there for a minute he thought about adding to the duo that Alice and he made up. He couldn't see it. But if Alice wasn't ruling herself out then by default he wasn't out of the equation either.

"Hmmm. I guess we will see when we get to this dinner. This is almost as exciting as when Bella first started to hang out with Edward."

Chuckling Carlisle got up from the dining room table. He touched Esme's shoulder as he walked in front of Rosalie and Emmett heading towards the other wingback chair.

"Those were interesting days for us all."

"I know we said we would discuss what happens next after the dinner, but I think we need to address the fact that she is going to have to return to Japan. She is only here on a school trip. It's not like we can make her stay. How are we going to convince her that she is meant to be here?"

"That's why we need to see what happens next. I know she is going to be with us. I don't know when. In the baby vision she looks as she does now, a late teenager. But in the other vision she doesn't have her baby fat any more. She looks more mature."

"Well, either way, I can't wait to really meet her. She seems to be more mature than the other kids with her. She has this air about her."

"You noticed it too?" Rosalie said as she swing her legs back to the floor. She started to arrange the magazines on the coffee table.

"Yes, I can't really put my finger on it, but it seems that she has been through more than the others in her group."

"Another aspect of her that we can try to figure out as we have dinner with her."

"You guys do know that we have to order food right." Emmett said.

"Yeah, we are there to eat it would look funny if we didn't get anything"

"We can just order a few things and share. It will give the look that we are eating the meal with them."

Alice looked up and saw that it was time. Squealing she got up and nudged Esme as she walked around the table and loveseat. It's time. I'm going to head into the shower. Rosalie are you going to dress here or in your room?"

"Emmett's and my outfits are downstairs. We'll be back in a bit."

"Don't rush, we still have an hour and a half till we need to head to the needle." Turning into her rooms and heading to her shower she peeked back around the doorframe.

"This is the best day ever."
