Chapter 28
Edd groaned as he woke up from his slumber. He rubbed his face and blinked a few times to get the sleep out of his eyes. He looked around from his position on the couch. He knew that he was not in his home, this was Ed's room. It looked less filthy than he remembered. There were even a few changes in the room, especially the drawer's desk. That's when he heard his cell phone ring. He sighed as he recognized the ring tone. He picked up and hit the ignore button. He got up and made his way to get something to eat.
It didn't take him long to reach the kitchen and saw the family at the table. They turned and greeted him and made space for him to sit down. Edd was served and he began to eat. After a few moments, he turned to his friend.
"Ed, thanks for letting me crash on your couch. I really appreciate it." Edd said.
"No problem buddy. It was just like old times." Ed said happily. Edd smile but it quickly changed when his phone rang. Again, he ignored it and turned off his phone. He gave a sigh of annoyance, which worried Ed's parents. They might have been well off but they knew the issues surrounding the Levy home. They always like Edd and hoped that some of his smarts would rub off on their son. Granted that it took a while but they liked the direction that Ed was heading. However, it seems that he was having problems and they decided to see what they could do.
"Was that you parents calling you Edward?" asked Ed's father.
"yeah but I really don't want to talk to either one of them. Right now, they are really pushing it and I need some space from them." Edd answered.
"What happened?" asked Ed's mother. Edd sighed and started to talk.
***Flashback***
"Have you two lost your damn minds?!" Edd exclaimed, surprising his parents. They quickly turned back to their expressions.
"You will watch your tone. I do not know why you are so against this? You aren't seeing anyone." Laura said without a care. This only served to anger Edd more.
"And how would you know anything? The only things you two care about is your careers and yourselves! For your information, I am in a relationship with a very beautiful girl but that doesn't matter to either of you! Also, don't give me that crap about you're looking out for me! This about you!" Edd shouted.
"We warned you to watch your tone." Brent said in a monotone tone. "You did not information us about this girlfriend but I am sure that if you explain it to her, she will see that it is no big deal. It is only for one night and Ms. Horton needs a date for the gala. You will not disappoint us Edward." Edd growled and turned on his heels. He stormed over to the door and opened it. "Where do you think that you are going?"
"I'm getting out of here and away from you two! If you think I'm going to listen or obey either of you, then you both can go to hell!" Edd roared and left slamming the door behind him, leaving his parents stunned.
***Present***
Everyone around the table was stunned by this. The two adults, while stunned, were not surprised by what was just told. They have on numerous occasions tried to become friendly with Laura and Brent. Their attempts were refuted at every turn. The time that they did come to one of their get togethers' they did not speak to anyone and only made snide comments at everyone there. They turned their attention back to Edd.
"We're sorry to hear that Edward." Ed's mother said.
"I just can't believe that they would do that to you." Sarah said. "I can't believe that Sylvia would go that far. Have you told Mila about this?"
"I'm meeting her today. I was wondering if I can hang out with you for a little while. Until I cool down a bit because of this." Edd asked.
"Take all the time you need." Ed's father said. They turned back to their food.

Eddy was making his way to the trailer that was inside the park. He was not happy about this and it showed on his face. He was still pissed off about this whole situation. He couldn't believe that his brother convinced his parents to kick him out. He was even angrier when neither one of them came to get him. They must have agreed with Terry and allowed him to do it. He quickly shook it off and promised to prove them all wrong. He didn't need school, he didn't need rules and he didn't need them.
He was in front of the door of the manager's trailer and knocked. He was told to enter and he did. He looked at the man who sat behind a desk. He was a stock little man with unkempt red hair and onyx eyes. He could see some tattoo's on his forearm. He was wearing a dark purple shirt with a tie. He could see his shoes and his black khakis from under the desk. Edd looked back at him with little interest.
"You Brock?" Edd asked demandingly.
"Wow, Terry wasn't kidding when he said that you would have an attitude about this. Lucky for him, I have such thick skin. Anyway, I'm your boss, Brock. However, I expect you not to talk to me like you can do anything. The only reason that you have that trailer and this job is because of your brother." Brock said.
"I never asked for his input." Eddy growled.
"Yeah, I mean, why would you? He's only looking out for his parents and helping them out of the trouble that you've caused." Brock said. Eddy bristled at that comment. "Either way, if you think you can get anything better, then please show me. Just so you know, you won't be living in that trailer since I own it." Eddy quickly calmed himself and looked at the man.
"So, what am I going to be doing sir?" Eddy asked with sarcasim. Brock just smirked and point to a yellow vest and stick with a needle point at the end of it. Eddy saw this and did not look happy.
"I thought I was going to be working the wheel? Terry said so." Eddy said.
"Terry had some type of technical skills that allowed him to work and maintain the wheel on his own. You don't even have any skills to be of any worth. I'm certainly not going to allow someone with no skills touch the wheel and I'm certainly not going to waste my time training you. We'll see how well you do this season and maybe, you can move up to a better position." Brock said.
"That isn't what I was promised." Eddy snarled.
"Terry promised you, not me and I warned you about your attitude. I don't need you brat. I'm only doing this for Terry because we had a working relationship. Like I said, you can either accept it or you can find something better." Brock said. Eddy was shaking with anger but he could do nothing about it. Eddy snatched the vest and the pole and stormed out of the trailer.

Edd and Mila were in the park. They had a nice lunch where Edd told her about what happened to him last night. Mila was upset just as much as he was. They were able to discuss it like adults in the restaurant. Mila then suggested that they go to the park that was nearby to clear their heads. Edd laid out, his head on Mila's lap. She was gently rubbing his forehead while he was rubbing the back of her hand. Mila let out sigh.
"So, what are you going to do?" Mila asked.
"I'm going to stay with my girlfriend and not go to that stupid gala." Edd said. Mila smiled at him and gave him a kiss on his forehead. He smirked at her and the two fell into silence once again. That's when she spoke again.
"Aren't you scared at what your parents will do to you if you refuse them?" she asked.
"My only worry is that they will send me to my room and tell me to read my behavior books. I know that they won't send me away again. That plan back fired on them because of how I'm acting." Edd answered.
"Maybe I should meet them and calm their fears." Mila said.
"That would be a good plan but let me ask you some questions. What are your future goals in life?"
"I really haven't thought about it."
"What type of college do you plan to go to?"
"Definitely haven't thought about it yet."
"That's when the questions will stop and my parents would not like you. You have to understand something about them. They are career driven. They plan out everything that they want to do. Everything is planned out for them and the same with me. I might not have been a part of the plan but I am now. They just molded me to be just like them. I'm still the intelligent guy you see but I'm not their little robot anymore. It doesn't mater to me though. I like how I've changed and I'm not going back to being that guy." Edd looked into the eyes of Mila. "You are my girlfriend and nothing is going to change that."
"Aww, that's so sweet." Mila said with a smile, which Edd returned. That's when something came to her mind. She then looked at him. "Say, how would you like to really stick it to Sylvia for her little plan?" Edd looked at her with a raised eye.
"What do you have in mind?" he asked. Mila just smiled at him.

Sylvia stood next to Edd's parents, waiting for her date to arrive. She was a little worried since she learned what happened a week ago. The two assured her than Edd was coming as he promised them that he would be coming. Sylvia didn't mind and waited calmly for him to arrive. She was wearing a red Sequins long evening gown. It was off her shoulders and had a slit running down her leg. Her hair was done into a bun and her make-up was professional done. There was no way that he wouldn't pay attention to her now.
That's when his car pulled up to the hotel where the gala was. Edd stepped out and she smiled when she saw him in that tuxedo. That smile immediately fell when she saw who was with him. Stepping out of the passenger's side was Mila. The young woman was wearing a very stunning royal blue corset dress with a strapless sweetheart neckline. The dress was like a mermaid's tail at the legs. She looked absolutely stunning with her hair curled up. She took Edd's arm and they walked up to the three. Sylvia's face was not happy and neither were his parents. Edd didn't look afraid and neither did Mila.
"So, shall we get inside?" Edd said and walked in with Mila. Sylvia followed as did Edd's nervous parents.

Eddy threw the door to his trailer open and slammed it shut. He was angry and wanted to punch something. He had been here for a week and he disliked every moment so far. The fact that he had to pick up garbage again was pissing him off. His anger only grew when he ran into people at his school. They would laugh at him or they would purposely drop their garbage right in front of him. When he flung some garbage back, he got a black eye for it. Brock was not amused and doc his pay. He argued it but Brock told him that he should start developing thicker skin.
Eddy was at his limit and it had only been a week since he started. He hated this job and he hated his life. He needed to get out of this hole he dug himself in. He lit a cigarette and tried to relax. He was getting too stressed for his health. He needed to look for better work. After taking a few minutes to calm down, Eddy made his way out. He saw a newspaper stand outside. He would need to look at the wanted ads.

The gala was starting to get really good. Edd and Mila were enjoying themselves despite the dirty looks that they were getting. Sylvia was very annoyed and needed to do something about it. She got up from her table and made her way over to where they were sitting. She put on a smile and stood in front of them.
"Excuse me Mila, could I borrow your date for a dance?" Sylvia asked nicely.
"Sure, you can borrow him." Mila said with a smile. Edd stood up and followed Sylvia out on the dance floor. The two got close and started to dance. After a few moments into the song, Sylvia spoke.
"You've really tried to make your point to me, haven't you?" Sylvia asked, her tone a little annoyed.
"I guess that you've gotten the message." Edd said.
"You think that I'll just give up so easily? Come on now. You should know that this isn't going to end now that your parents know who I am. Something tells me that they are going to be my allies." Sylvia said with a smirk.
"They might be your allies but that isn't going to change anything. You can try all you want but I'm not going to change my mind. You are starting to get annoying and if you don't stop, you're about to learn just exactly what I think about you." Edd warned.
"Oh really? And what do you really think about me?" Sylvia demanded. Edd got serious and was going to show this girl just who she was dealing with.

Authors' Notes
Well, I decided to end it here. I had more to add but when I got to this point I decided to stop. It was a good place for me to get to my other projects. Anyway, I hope that you are enjoying the story. Like I said, this Sylvia thing is about to end soon. She'll still be a character but her role will go into a minor role. As for Eddy, I'm going to have him work this job for the summer before he gets a change. I have an idea for him and it will work out for the best. Anyway, enjoy the new chapter.
