Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blind Sight

Chapter Twenty Nine: Obligitory Christmas Chapter

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

There was a song filling the air as the sun rose over the trees. The morning air had quite a chill to it on this particular day of December the first.

The team of four were all on their way through the forest, leaving behind the campsite. They were currently chatting about the travel plans for the day.

"A shortcut?" Blaze asked dumbfoundedly.

"Yeah, It'll cut the trip in..." Robyn did the math in her head. "Average speed we'd walk... Ruby river, Sapphire shores... Bizmuth bridge..."

"From 53 hours and probably 27 minutes on average to two hours and 3 minutes?" Sunny answered. "Assuming that the dungeon layout is tricky and that we don't find the stairs first. Then it's more of an hour and 12 minutes."

Robyn finished checking her own math a few seconds later, finding that Sunnys answer was much more accurate than her own. She stared. "How did..?"

Sunny shrugged.

They continued on their path for another hour, until they had reached the entrance to Nohr Forest.

(Mystifying Forest: PMD Darkness, Time, Sky)

"So you're saying that we should avoid picking fights with the pokemon here." Blaze concluded. "And if we do, me and Sunny can take them out with special attacks."

"Sunny and I." Robyn corrected. "But that is a good plan."

"We, being me and Sunny, lead. Melody follows, and Robyn stays at the end of the line to deal with the pokemon that usually come from behind." Blaze further strategized. "Are we all clear?"

The rest of the group nodded.

"Who got injured and made you leader?" Sunny asked jokingly.

"Glad to see you're in a better mood than yesterday, Sunshine." Blaze smiled down on her.

"Hehehe..." Sunny laughed nervously, almost blushing.

Robyn coughed loudly, cocking her head in the direction of the entrance.

"Right, uh, sorry." Blaze looked back to the other two. "Let's move out."

And so, they entered Nohr Forest.

(Nohr Forest)

"There's an oddish." Blaze whispered. "It's sleeping, so we best-"

"Use your fire attack, we won't be able to come through that way." Melody pointed.

Robyn started cracking up.

"What's so... Oh." Blaze realized the accidental double meaning. "I didn't choose to be named this way, OR my birthday for that matter!"

"What does your name have to do with anything?" Sunny asked. "Or april 20th? I'm lost here."

Robyn was laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. "B-bla-... I-"

"I don't get-" Sunny started.

"Robyn, this is a team full of mentally uncorrupt cinnamon rolls." He was probably referring to Sunny and Melody. Blaze set Sunny down right there, and walked foreward. "You're the worst."

He readied metal claw, taking out the oddish in a single blow.

"Refrain from your childish jokes!" Blaze pointed angrily at the absol.

"Does that include knock knock jokes?" Melody asked.

Blaze snapped a twig in his hand. "UUUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!"

They continued on for another five minutes.

"So, where Is Lon Lon Town anyway?" Blaze asked.

"Look, there it is!" Sunny pointed in a northernly general direction.

Both Robyn and Melody looked in confusion.

Nothing but forest stood in their way.

Blaze rolled his eyes. "...Really?"

Sunny burst out into laughter.

Blaze grumbled something under his breath. "Honestly if you didn't have such a cute laugh..."

"Did you say something?" Sunnys face turned red.

Blazes said nothing as his face turned a scarlet orange color. You could barely tell.

Melody cracked a grin.

They (Ahem) eventually reached Erilon town...

(Snowman: earthbound)

Apon reaching the town, Robyn had found them a place to stay. It was her adoptive brothers fathers house, the lucario who could teach aura. He was out visiting other family members for christmas.

A few weeks had passed since their arrival to the town.

Sunny was sitting upside down in a chair, wearing a faded redish vest. She had gotten a replacement pair of glass eyes, (silver, they were out of everything else) and her right leg was in a cast.

"Getting bored?" Blaze asked, almost laughing. He was wearing a red vest too, and holding two cups of hot chocolate.

"Yep." She answered, sitting back up as Blaze handed her one of the mugs.

"The snow is coming down pretty hard." Blaze stared out the window, where Melody, Robyn, and various other neighborhood kids were having a snowball fight. "It's kinda sad that you can't join them out there..."

"Why don't you want to join them then?" Sunny asked, sipping hot coco.

"Because, then you'd have no one to hang out with, Sun." Blaze poked her in the face. "But if you want, I could leave you al-"

Sunny grabbed his hand.

"Huh? What is it, Sun?" Blaze asked, curiously.

Outside, Melody was staring into the window. She looked very content. Meanwhile Robyn was being pelted by tons of snowballs. A muffled "You Traitor" could be heard.

"Look uh, there is something I wanted to ask you."

"Sure." Blaze nodded, sitting by her on the chair. "What's bothering you?"

"It's just... I'm not sure how to..." Sunny started. "It's like... remember when we first met?"

"Yeah, I do." Blaze nodded. "I'm pretty sure you thought I was annoying..."

"Back then, I did." Sunny nodded. "But something changed and I'm not quite exactly sure how to explain it..."

"And...?" Blaze questioned.

"But... Well..." Sunny started to turn red. "Umm... uh... see..."

"Sunny, you can tell me whatever it is, and I promise I won't judge you negatively no matter what." Blaze assured.

Sunny was silent for a moment, then muttered something. "I..."

"You what?" Blaze asked.

Outside Melody was pointing into the window.

"Help me..." Came from below piles of snow. A white paw reached out, barely noticeable in the winter snow.

"Oh, sorry." Melody psychically lifted the snowballs and sent them back to the senders.

"What are you doing?" Robyn asked, sighing.

"Keeping an eye on the two lovebirds" Melody replied.

"Lovebirds? Psh! Yeah right." Robyn stared into the window. "All I sense is-"

She stopped, turned around, mega evolved,"DISASTERS!" and midair, picked up a charmander and eevee from a skating pond. "Thin ice, you two, THIN ICE!"

The ice cracked into pieces seconds later.

"Sorry" The charmander and his assumed girlfriend both stood in the snow.

"We'll be more careful" The eevee sneezed.

"I don't know who you two are but a kingdom would have collapsed if-" Robyn stopped midthought and batted away an icicle as it was about to fall on top of a rockruff and grovyle, who were talking about 'ships' Whatever kind, they were sailing in, apparently...

"WHY IS WINTER SO DANGEROUS?!"

"Well I sense..." Melody looked around before getting back to watching the couple. "friendship. Iots of that. Winter is so beautiful, don't you ag-"

Robyn was warning about the dangers of snow to various dragon, flying, grass, ground, and water type pokemon.

"Honestly, can you stop thinking about disasters for one-"

"No, that's like asking Sunny to look you in the-" Robyn was pegged in both eyes by the grovyle and rockruff. "EYE!"

"Why do you make these jokes?" Melody did not give her time to answer, instead pointing into the window excitedly. "Look!"

Sunny leaned over and kissed Blaze on the cheek.

Blaze had a startled look on his face.

Slowly pulling away, she told him. "What I'm trying to say is-"

"Love you too." Blaze replied, hugging her close.

Sunnys face went redder then it was previously.

A loud squeeeee was heard from outside, but the two ignored it.

"What is your obsession with-" Robyn started.

"I've known blaze since I was three, and I have been waiting for him to fall in love with the perfect girl... or guy, I wasn't sure at first. Then the perfect girl who wouldn't reject him for his scarred face blindly waltzes into his life and-"

"I always thought that scar looked cool, people have rejected him for it?"

Melody flicked Robyn in the nose. "HE'S TAKEN!"

Robyn didn't react, other then a small sigh. "Have you ever played any fire emblem games?"

"No?"

"Tomodatchi life?"

"No?"

"Sims?"

"No."

"Well, I know what you're getting for christmas..." Robyn muttered under her breath.

...

"What do you mean, you don't believe in Santa?!" Melody pointed dramatically.

"I mean, I've never heard the guy once." The turtle explained. "It's always been my parents sneaking downstairs with books I can't read, or clothes. Toys were apparently too dangerous for me..."

"Maybe you were just a bad kid?" Melody crossed her arms.

Sunny thought back to an incident or more in kindergarden.

"Okay, in kindergarden I was a terrible person, but I changed."

"What did you do?"

"...I...Beat up a highschool football jock for calling me helpless, therefore crippling his carreer and making any scholorships null and void. And Andrews older brother too, almost making him unable to participate in the pokemon league. He made fun of my eyes..."

"Pokemon league?" Melody asked, totally ignoring the rest of Sunnys words.

"Depending on where you are, it's a competition between several trainers who win eight badges, or you have to gather eight badges and fight the elite four... and finally, one of the champions..." Robyn answered.

"...How... Do you know all this?" Sunny asked.

"It's... a long story, I'd rather not..." Robyn backed out of the conversation. "I'm going out to get some things, Blaze's in charge."

A "'Sup?" was heard from the kitchen. There was a delicious smell in the air.

"So, Sunny...?" Melody asked. "You finally asked Blaze?"

"Asked him?" Sunny repeated, "What do you mean by...?"

"You know," Melody whispered agressively "Are you a couple yet?"

"I... think so?" Sunny guessed.

A "Totally." came from the kitchen.

"Where are you going on your next date?" Melody questioned further.

"Melody!" Blaze whined.

Melody chuckled "Need any help with anything with him, I got you, kay?"

Sunny nodded.

Melody then proceeded to take out a red marker on a piece of paper, giggling to herself.

"Has she... always been like this?"

"Being able to sense emotions is a thing she does..." Blaze was taking out green bean cassarole from the oven. "You should have been there on Valentines Day a few years ago..."

"You played Cupid." Sunny concluded, directing her attention towards the ralts.

"A few of the couples actually got married." Melody was writing down something in the form of lines and circles. "I'm trying to find a pokemon to ship Robyn with. Do you guys know anyone?"

Sunny backed away, into the kitchen, slowly on one foot.

A hand stopped her. "Oven's there. Your shell'll catch fire."

"Right." Sunny stopped. "Sorry Blaze."

"Since you're in here, wanna help?" Blaze asked, chopping broccoli.

"Sure..." Sunny nodded.

Blaze directed her towards a saucepan. "Just stir that for me, okay?"

"Is this..." Sunny sniffed. "Peanut butter fudge?"

"Yeah." Blaze nodded. "Does it remind you of anything?"

"Lyra and I used to help our mom cook this stuff every year!" Sunny remembered. "Sometimes dad helped, but that's when stuff exploded in the kitchen..."

"Exploded?!" Blaze exclaimed.

"Yeah." Sunny lifted the spatula out of the pan.

"Do NOT lick the spatula."

Sunny frowned, returning the spatula to the pan.

Melody was still contemplating who to ship the absol with.

"With DevastatingFlame and SolarShade off the market... and DisasterFox, Darkthunder, IceQueen, Darkplus, Robynhood, Rockbyn, or Darktails wouldn't work for more than a month...I definately don't see PerishSong working...OH! YinYang, Avalanche, or BeeSting go in the maybe..."

Blaze listened for a second. "What does that make me and Sunny?"

"BlazingSun." Melody answered with pride.

"Figures." Sunny sighed.

Robyn returned later with large boxes, setting them next to the fireplace.

"Where is-" She looked around. I was out later than I thought...

Melody was standing there, eyes half opened. "Santa? Is that?"

"Heh, not this time." Robyn chuckled. "Back to bed."

"But I'm not." She yawned. "Tired..."

"Sure you are." Robyn pushed her towards the couch. "Christmas is in the morning, don't tell me you were trying to stay up to meet Santa Claus."

"Maybe I was..." Melody rubbed her eyes, lying down.

"You'll be too tired to open prese-" Robyns attention moved towards the paper on the floor. She had an amusing expression on her face to say the least..."-nts..."

"Goodnight."

"We'll see you in the morning."

A long, exasperated sigh was heard from another room. It sounded offended.

"Sorry."

(Christmas Eve- Animal Crossing GC)

"WHAT?!" Robyn stared at the tree.

"What?" Sunny asked curiously. She was wearing a yellow startrek nightshirt, and a gray and yellow blindfold eye mask thing. It was a clear reference to Geordi La Forge. "Is there something wrong?"

"The... tree..."

"What about it?"

"We didn't have one before!"

"Oh. Now I feel stupid." Sunny made gestures toward her eyes.

Blaze ran in naruto style, wearing a nightshirt with several Rwby characters on it. "CHRISTMAS!"

He jumped and landed right next to Sunny. "Good morning Sunshine!"

"Good morning, Blaze...?" Sunny took one step back. One that would have been otherwise regrettable.

"You're standing under mistletoe." Blaze stood up, grinning like an idiot. "Just so you know."

Sunny reached up and touched the plant hanging from a fishing line. "So I am..."

Blaze kissed her.

Both of them blushing.

"Melody's hiding upstairs with an old rod." Robyn pointed out.

A "Drat!" Sounded from the second floor, as she ran downstairs.

"Now that we-" Robyn was standing under the mistletoe. Looking up, she quickly moved out of the way.

Melody put a chocolate in front of the absol.

"...Are all out here, who wants to open presents?"

A resounding approval was recieved.

"Ooh!" Blaze grabbed one, handing it to Sunny. "This one's from me, actually!"

Sunny carefully unwrapped the box, pulling out a pink ribbon, which Blaze helped her put on, and "A book?"

"Check this." Blaze opened it for her. "Feel the page."

"It's embossed paper?" Sunny felt along each page. "I can actually read this, thanks Blaze!"

"You're welcome."

Sunny reached for an oddly shaped box with a sparkly bow wrapped around it. "This one's for you, Blaze."

Inside the box was a pair of orange and blue necklaces, which fit together perfectly.

Robyn pushed a small box in front of Melody.

Inside was fire emblem awakening and tomodachi life. (Shipping games!) As well as a 2DS. The 3DS could harm vision, apparently.

Robyn opened a box from Melody, and inside was a handmade winter hat, as well as a beaded necklace with a lightning bolt in the middle.

Several other gifts were underneath the tree. Sunny got an iconic pair of large triangular shades, Blaze got a collection of star wars movies, Melody got glitter pens, Robyn got cards against humanity (Oh the humanity...), and others.

"So, who wants to play?" Robyn held up the cards.

"No!" Blaze objected quickly. "That is NOT a game for them to play!"

(A wish for peace- Pmd darkness/ time/sky)

The month passed by, turning into the new year quickly. As time went on, the group of four were to be met with a new friend, a tyrunt, who lost his memory.

"Hold it. I need to get this straight." Sunny pointed, her odd eyes startling the other pokemon. "You, Stephen, are from the human world too."

The tyrunt, Stephen, nodded. "I'm telling the truth."

"I know, I just wanted to hear you say it."

"Why aren't you surprised?"

"I'm a human, an eevee was once human, there's another human in town, the absol over there has a vendetta against humans because of abandonment..." The turtle listed off. "I think I can accept another human turned pokemon being here."

"Oh." The tyrunt nodded, processing.

Melody would decide to stay in town, getting herself a house to serve as a base for a team, consisting of her and Stephen, the tyrunt. It would be then that Melody would begin to grow as a person, rescuing the pokemon who lost their way, taking down the occasional outlaw. She would also be much stronger.

"I'm not a weak, defenseless child anymore." Melody told the absol. "You don't have to worry, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm not alone."

"We've got each other." The tyrunt waved.

Robyn realized disasters were starting in heavier magnetudes up north, and headed that way, only telling Melody that she was leaving.

"What do you mean she's gone?" Blaze asked, confused.

"She left earlier this morning." Melody explained. "She said it was urgent. Something was unusual with the earths balance itself, funny way of phrasing it I guess, and she needed to get to the bottom of it. I'm sorry you missed her go."

"Didn't even say goodbye..." Sunny commented.

Soon after, Sunny and Blaze would continue their search for Ninetails, into the frozen lands ahead.

Meanwhile, in the Amatsh region...

Andrew, now a sylveon, stood above a crib, holding a green, white, and pink colored egg.

"I guess I'm watching you until Mr. Erik and Mrs. Harmony return..." He spoke to it. "I hope you don't give them too much trouble when they return. They left to protect you."

He heard little noises from the egg.

"Aww, kuso..." He cursed quietly. "You're hatching already..."

A small ralts emerged from the egg, with large sapphire eyes, matching his fathers and big sisters.

"What am I supposed to do?!" Andrew stared at the child. "Umm... I'll call you Alphonse Coda. Al Coda for short. And uh..."

"Mama." the ralts stared, genuinely beliving that to be who was in front of him.

Andrew, meeting the baby pokemons gaze, realized if he said no, the baby would begin crying.

He made a decision there, that until his real parents returned, Andrew would be his mother.
