Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail. Hiro Mashima does. This story was made for fun, and not for cash. (How unfortunate.)
The Sabertooth mages could only look down at Juvia, and raise eyebrows at what she had said. Apparently, someone named Mal was attacking the Fairy Tail guild and she was most likely the cause of that fiery explosion that could be seen from Castelia Town. Reināre and Sting looked shocked to see that someone could do such a horrible thing, but why was Mal doing it? As everyone else wondered about what they should do, Minerva scoffed and walked away with a smirk on her face.
"Hey, where are you going?" Reināre asked her rival with a stern facial expression, as she grabbed her left arm.
"Reināre-tan, it's just the guild of those trashy fairies. No one's really going to weep if Fairy Tail falls into extinction, and whoever's burning it down to the ground is doing a good thing. Besides, we're from the Sabertooth guild. We shouldn't care for pieces of garbage." Minerva replied with an evil smirk on her face, teleporting out of her rival's grasp and laughing about the blazing fire.
Sting looked angry to know Minerva would let an entire guild fall, but he pushed that aside and turned his focus to stopping Mal before any innocent people in Magnolia could get hurt. That was also the job of a mage, to protect innocent people, no matter what guild or town they're in. He looked at his girlfriend, prompting her to smile back at him while knowing how to reach Magnolia in the fastest way possible. She grabbed everyone's hands, and used Dark Acceleration on the water at quadrupled speed to reach the guild and stop Mal.
Minerva thought to herself with facial expressions switching between arrogance and concern, upon seeing her friends rush off to try and stop a possible dark mage, "I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like there's a villain trying to take over the world or something. It's just some low-level person wanting fame... Right?"
Mal had a vicious smirk on her face, as her willpower and evil desires of malice and vengeance turned the spell book black and activated the black spells. She clearly had more control over the black spells than Lucy had, since she was the one who made them from Hellish Shadow Magic. She used a new spell known as Shadow Ritual, which made black smoke appear in her hands. A black orb formed from the smoke, and Mal threw it up into the air. The black orb exploded immediately, resulting in the shining sun and the clear blue sky becoming obscured by a large amount of darkness. It spread fast, and the shadows amplified Mal's dark powers when she was able to touch them and absorb their energy.
"The world is going to fall into darkness, and it will all be mine! Fiore will be changed without Fairy Tail, and I'll make Magnolia see that there's a new guild in town! Every evil queen needs an army of dark mages, after all! Move over, Zeref! It's time for me to be known as The Killing Mage! This is the great power of hatred, Fairy filth!" Mal said aloud in a harsh tone, as she snickered at the sight of her darkness spreading across Fiore at a fast rate.
Reināre exclaimed with a serious look on her face, as she and her friends arrived at the place where the Fairy Tail guild once stood, "Stop right there, you fiend! The only thing you'll be taking is a long nap, after we knock you out for decimating an entire guild!"
Upon seeing the bubblegum pink spell book in the violet-eyed girl's hands, Mal narrowed her sapphire blue eyes and absorbed all of the flames that she had been using the rebuild the guild from its pile of rubble and ashes. She jumped down from the top of the ash pile, and glared at Reināre. This was the girl who was the new master of the book, and Mal could sense that she didn't use the spells at full power or use them for malicious purposes. She knew Reināre was Lucy, having been able to witness everything from secretly using the shadows to keep an eye on her.
At the same time, Reināre a.k.a. Lucy couldn't believe that Mal had such a striking resemblance to her when she was Lucy Heartfilia. From seeing the black spell book, she growled angrily upon guessing that Mal was the clone that duped them into finding treasure just to give her time to destroy the Fairy Tail guild. Still, Lucy didn't know who she was or why she would have a spell book as well. However, she received bad vibes from the brown-haired girl and stepped back a bit.
"We finally meet, little girl. I'm Mal, and I'm the creator of the book you're wielding. I used to be in Fairy Tail, until Mavis excommunicated me from the guild like the bitch she is. My revenge may not have happened back then, but it will happen in this time. I must say, thank you for finding my book. It helped me sense the heartbreaking pain you were in, and it chose you as its master. That's still unfortunate, though, since you refuse to use the black spells or lift their restraints. You're such a soft and sweet girl, interestingly enough, yet you're too soft to kill the bastards who hurt you. Quite a pity that you'll always be a tool, indeed. At least I used you to reawaken my powers." Mal explained with a sadistic facial expression, as she looked at Reināre and began to giggle evilly.
Reināre replied sternly, clenching her fists and having fierceness in her violet eyes, "I don't care if you are the creator of this book, Mal! You're not going to take over the world, and I'm going to stop you! I don't need the black spells to be powerful, you demonic bitch!"
Mal smirked at this challenge, and what better way would there be to take over the world with her original book when she won it back? The spell books were not on the same level, seeing as Mal could instantly create spells with their power levels and effects. She began to laugh evilly, knowing Lucy and her friends would perish and fall to her feet. Besides, Mal secretly had spells that Lucy hadn't accessed yet. Quite underhanded, was she not?
"It's amusing how you think you're a master sorceress like me! Let's see how you like Fire Demon's Lava Flowers, little girl!" Mal shouted viciously, as her book turned red and began to have a red glow pulsating from within.
She unleashed several small fireballs from her mouth, and they came down towards Reināre's group. Everyone quickly spread out and leapt back, but Reināre looked astounded when the attacks suddenly struck her from behind and created red blasts of Fire Magic! She could feel the intense heat of the attacks, more intense than Minerva's energy waves, Natsu's fire, or even her own flames, and she screamed in pain when more fireballs began to attack her from all directions at high speeds! Reināre fell to her knees, but quickly got up to counterattack.
Reināre used the Magma Merge spell to absorb the flames and their heat, healing her in the process. She then used Conflagration Control to turn Mal's eight remaining fireballs into fiery vortexes that were sent towards the antagonist at high speeds. However, Mal simply used a new spell known as Devil's Fused Flame. Dark red flames appeared in front of each fiery vortex, and canceled out Reināre's attacks easily. The collisions resulted into fiery explosions, and Mal manipulated the fiery flames to lunge towards her opponent in the forms of fiery rings.
The violet-eyed girl tried her best to dodge them, but the fiery rings that made even the slightest amount of contact with resulted in red blasts of energy occurring! The heat was more intense than last time, and Reināre coughed up some blood when she fell to the ground.
She wasn't going to let Mal take over the world, and Reināre used her confidence to make the spell book turn orange and she turned to the spells of Earth Magic. Earth could probably counter fire, and the spells of Earth Magic were strong. The violet-eyed girl stretched her arms out in front of her, and she slammed them against the ground to unleash a new spell known as Destructive Earthquake. The earth began to break apart from under Mal's feet, resulting in each chunk of earth turning into an orange blast of Earth Magic. Mal was propelled into the air, causing Reināre to jump high into the air and try to fight in a close-range situation. She tried throwing a punch at Mal, only to see a smirk on her opponent's face.
"You're too soft, and you're too weak! Prepare to be annihilated by Earth Demon's Desert Funeral!" Mal yelled with a devilish look in her sapphire blue eyes, before brutally slamming her left fist against Reināre's stomach, and seeing her cough up more blood. Chunks of earth began to levitate up toward the duo, and Mal made them slam themselves against Reināre with tremendous force! Orange explosions of energy occurred in the sky, Mal laughing sadistically upon hearing Reināre screaming in pure agony. However, she was far from done. She had a tight grip on Reināre's neck with her left hand, and descended to the ground at a fast pace towards some newly created Earth Demon's Desert Spikes. She slammed her into the spikes, as an orange aura surrounded Mal's body, resulting in an orange blast of energy that made a large crater.
Sting couldn't believe that Mal was powerful enough to be throwing Lucy around like this, and he was shocked to see Mal countering the spells perfectly like she really was the book's creator. Could anything stop her? Sting noticed the smoke clearing, only for him to look utterly frightened at the sight of Mal stomping her left foot on Reināre's chest and hearing his girlfriend scream in pain. Not wanting to see her suffer anymore, Sting unleashed his White Dragon's Engine.
He unleashed a vortex of light that was larger than White Dragon's Roar, and the force of it pushed Mal away from Lucy and sent her rolling across the large crater. The vortex hit her in the stomach, resulting in her coughing up some blood as she proceeded to stand once again. Reināre began to stand as well, and she smiled at Sting for creating that small distraction.
"All right, who the hell thinks they can just squirm their way into this battle?!" Mal asked the five males from Sabertooth, as her book now turned yellow and she began to charge up yellow lightning in her left palm.
Reināre exclaimed fiercely, as her spell book turned yellow as well while beginning to glow, "If you're a master sorceress, falling for a distraction is a really big mistake! You're going to feel the power of Electric Sword Storm, Mal!"
Fifty golden swords of lightning appeared in the sky, and they began to fire beams of electricity and also lunge down towards the antagonist. However, Mal simply used a spell known as Vicious Voltage to make yellow spheres of energy surround all the swords and absorb all their electricity. Reināre could only look appalled to see her swords shattering one by one, and Mal laughed evilly at her astounded facial expression.
"Being with that nice boy certainly made you soft, Reināre. If you had never met him, you would've asked the book for so much wonderful hatred and power to make you kill Natsu Dragneel! You had the nerve to sacrifice power for mercy, which shows the clear difference between the strength of hatred and love! How dare you not have malice in your heart, you wretched girl! The book gave you power that you wasted, and that's why you're a weak sorceress! Your destiny is to die here, so allow me to seal your fate and turn the world towards a hellish unrelenting darkness!" Mal shouted viciously, as her sapphire blue eyes took on a darker and more vengeful look.
Her electric spheres turned into large yellow beams of electricity, and they were spinning like drills whilst emitting shock waves that paralyzed Reināre's body and desisted movement from her legs. Large yellow blasts of lightning occurred when the beams struck Reināre, and the electricity tore through her body while making her cough up more blood. By this point, she was bruised, bloodied, battered, and her skin was charred brown from the fire earlier. She screamed in pain from her wounds, as she tried to stand up, and Reināre fell to her knees in front of Mal. That devastating lightning move was Lightning Demon's Electric Genocide, by the way.
Her spells were being torn through, one after another, and tears began to form in her violet eyes. This battle was completely hopeless, and the odds were slammed against her. What could stop Mal? What could prevent Lucy a.k.a. Reināre from meeting her end? Her body began to tremble, from seeing the vicious look in Mal's eyes, and she felt like she wanted to run far away from here.
No matter what spell she used, Mal would just counter it with something even trickier or even more powerful. Sting's distraction might've only been good for that one time earlier, and Lucy imagined Mal to be towering over her now. Was she going to die here? Would the world fall into darkness? Mal's evil laughter kept resonating in her mind, and the darkened sky didn't make it any better.
Reināre told Mal, using all of her energy just to stand and talk while trying, "It's... far from over! I won't... let you destroy this world, Mal! Revenge only gets you so far, but true strength comes from compassion!"
"That's enough of your foolish prattle, you pitiful sorceress! This is where you meet your end! Prepare to enter the netherworld, and watch hell rule Earthland! Darkness is a great thing, and a pest like you must perish and be punished for how you used the book! Heavenly Demon's Starry Slaughter!" Mal exclaimed, as a pink aura surrounded her body and she began to build up an enormous amount of magical power.
In an instant, several tiny and pink star-shaped shields floated in midair around Reināre. She could only breathe heavily and fall to her knees, still feeling the lightning's paralysis overtaking her body. The pink shields began to spin like shuriken, as they made sharp cuts and tears on her body, and the rest of them began to attach themselves to the violet-eyed girl. Sting immediately ran towards her, only for Mal to teleport in front of him and sent him flying backwards with a kick to the face.
"Leave Sting alone, please!" Reināre screamed, upon hearing her boyfriend wince in pain from that kick.
She could hear Mal's deadly footsteps coming towards her from behind, and Reināre could only let tears fall from her eyes when she realized that it was all over for her. She had come so far, only to probably die in the end. She regretted not being able to be with Sting any longer, and she wanted to have a great future with him. She never told him this, but she sometimes envisioned a happy family with him later on. Now her aspirations were being torn away from her, and she could only wish that she could tell him how much she loved him and believed in him.
Mal responded with a brutal and cold facial expression, as she stood behind Reināre and scoffed at her plea, "Compassion and sympathy are sickening, and I've had enough of you! It's time for you to die like the useless trash you are, you pathetic sorceress! Heavenly stars, maintain your celestial cling and make this girl's destruction be the dawn of my dark world!"
The pink stars immediately detonated like bombs, creating massive pink blasts of energy that could be seen from every part of Fiore. Their power was obviously destructive, since every building in Magnolia began to be obliterated. Mal laughed evilly, having a demonic smirk on her face when realizing that there was no one left to stop her. She had heard her opponent's final screams of terror, and smiled when she saw the puddle of blood spreading towards towards her from behind where Lucy's body probably was right now.
"No... Please, no... It can't end like this, LUCY!" Sting shouted with a horrified facial expression, as he fell to his knees.
How was Chapter 29? Sorry if it seemed too short, but the final part of this arc is where it will be long and much more detailed! Mal is totally evil, don't you agree? Will Sting finally unleash his anger? Is Lucy really dead? Will the book do something completely unexpected? Will Fairy Tail receive a startling surprise when the battle ends? Can Mal be stopped? Standby for the epic second half of the battle in Chapter 30!
