The first thing Harry noticed was the stench of garlic.
The second thing he noticed was that the room was dark, asides from the two candles at the front of the room.
The third thing he noticed was that Ron was gazing dreamily at the green haired Japanese girl.
Setsuna wriggled uncomfortably. Nobody had ever radiated with such aura towards her. In all her time (which was a very long time) she had never been crushed on. Never had she felt emotion to love back. She had always just watch time fly, civilisations dawn, eras pass like dreams. Now she could be normal. A teenager.
Rei watched the classroom suspiciously. An evil aura, she found comfort in a crumpled ofuda in her pocket, the spirit was strong, she was unsure if it would help. Her hair buzzed with static energy.
"You have such nice... ow!" Lavender jumped in shock.
"Oh sorry, my hair is very static at the moment."
Rei said graciously. Her voice was smooth, like a practiced orator's. She had a placid look in her aubergine eyes, and didn't seem to look down on anyone.
"It's cool." Lavender laughed.
A teacher came to the door.
"C-come o-on in." He stuttered. He wore a turban the colour of rusted blood, almost the same shade as Setsuna's eyes.
"Ew, it stinks in here, like ew!" Minako squealed
"Not as bad as your cooking stinks!" Haruka's eyes twinkled.
"I didn't mean to ruin that garlic ramen, ok! Plus, it was nice and crispy!"
"It was congealed, for goodness sake!" she muttered lowly.
As Professor Quirell began to speak they stopped their playful exchange.
"Defense-se against the dark arts," The s's were cold and sinister like a snakes. "Is a complex-x subject."
The lesson was a bit of a joke. The stench of the room didn't exactly help and the students became hyperactive and chatty. Quirell stuttered on, and Seamus asked questions about his adventures with vampires. You could tell Professor Quirell was answering without emotion, his eyes were set on Harry. Every now and then they'd flick curiously to Usagi, then back.
Rei squirmed in her seat, something wasn't quite right...
A racous squawk made her jump. A beady eyes black crow jumped down from the rafters.
"Phobos, shoo!" The bird flew down and firmly perched itself on Rei's head.
"Shoo!" Instead of leaving, another crow landed on her.
"Deimos! Shoo."
The two crows were invisible in the pitch black, and the other students, who probably didn't notice, paid no heed. The cloying scent of garlic made Rei light headed and the overpowering sense of evil made her feel queasy. Her hair began to crackle as the Shinto maiden's eyes closed, connecting her spiritually.
Rei knows she is having a vision. The dark energy swirls around her, but a layer of protective flame is keeping it from seeping into her pure aura.
"I am Mars, the seer, I command you to stop!" Her voice is powerful. She is a servant of the gods, elegant in every way. There is fire and smoke everywhere.
Two elfish females appear out of the black, creating a roaring fire. They wear black feathery clothing, in contrast to their bright red hair.
"Who are you? Wait, you are Phobos and Deimos!"
"Mistress Rei, we are here to awaken you. "
"What does this mean. Why are we being awakened?"
"A great evil threatens this school. As senshi you must prevent this from happening. At all costs you must protect the chosen one, or the world as we know it will be thrown into chaos, far exceeding queen Galaxia."
"I will awaken to protect the queen. Who is this enemy?"
"He hides behind a veil, he is the one who is two."
"A cryptic message indeed, is there anything else?"
"When the time comes you must seek eternal life where nobody can go."
"Thank you."
Orange hazy flames engulf the maiden.
"Be guided by Mars, and open your third eye."
Rei's eyes opened slowly. The lesson was nearly finished. Professor Quirell stood at the desk talking about some kind of spell they'd learn next lesson.
"Class-s dismissed." The professor stammered.
"Thank heavens that's over!" Minako exclaimed joyfully.
"It stunk in there!"
"My brothers told me that Quirell keeps garlic in his turban to ward off any 'vampires' too!" Ron spoke in a dramatic tone.
"His head must stink!"Harry laughed.
"Garlic head should be his new nickname!" Usagi said, a little too loudly.
"Shh, he might hear!" Makoto whispered, trying not to giggle. It was too late, as Ron and Harry erupted into laughter.
"Usagi's a little on the crazy side!" Haruka stage whispered to Harry.
"My parents are dentists you see, so I have to be very healthy, not to ruin my teeth."
"Oh, my mum's a doctor, she's pretty strict on my health too." Ami and Hermione were in deep conversation. Rei was strangely quiet, Hermione noted, she usually joined in with their conversations...
