Chapter 4 - Bones
Rua's POV
"You need me to bring anything else to you?" Crow shouted from the top of the stairs as he was carrying some pumpkins already carved into jack-o-lanterns.
Yes, Ruka made the perfect choice when she suggested Crow for the decorations. Of course both Yuusei and Aki offered to help too. Jack was the most difficult one since he was so stubborn, but in the end Yuusei managed to make him cooperate, to some degree. I have no idea what Yuusei said to Jack or how much he threatened him, and even if I asked a million times he still refused to tell me anything he said. The good part was that not only Jack, but more people volunteered to help, like Aki's parents, Martha, and Crow's orphans.
Now Jack was helping Yuusei to move the furniture, creating more space, and Aki was in the kitchen with her mother and Martha, making some pumpkin pitas, apple cakes, and I have no idea what else. The smells that were coming out of that kitchen were so mouth-watering, my stomach was purring nonstop but Ruka would kill me if I tried to eat any of the treats before the party.
Speaking of Ruka, she was outside near the pool with the orphans. And Aki's dad was helping with all the deliveries.
"Hmm," I hummed, looking around.
"Well?" Crow shouted again.
"I don't know," I replied. "I think everything is settled," I murmured and scratched the back of my head.
"Then I'm going down," he announced.
"Oh, Crow, wait," I exclaimed and he froze in his position. "In the attic there is still a carton with Halloween decorations. Can you bring it down with you?"
"No, Crow!" my twin suddenly gushed. "Leave it there, and if you can, I need some help in the garden with the bats." I hadn't realized she had come inside.
"Sure, I'm coming," Crow grinned.
"No, Crow, bring the box with you."
"Ok," Crow threw us a confusing look.
"Crow, wait," my sister said again and this time Crow stared at us with wide eyes.
"Can you first decide and then tell me what you guys want me to do?" he requested.
Ruka crossed her arms, tapping her foot. "Rua, I thought we discussed to leave that box and the inside of the house out of our decoration plans."
"Nope, you said it and I told you I disagree."
"It's really spooky, Rua."
I shrugged. "So what? It's Halloween so it's exactly what we need."
Crow lifted one hand. "Excuse me, may I ask what's in this box?"
"Bones!" Ruka replied, throwing me a sad look. "It's full of bones, like real ones; it's freakin' scary."
"You're just scared of a bunch of fake bones, Ruka, and why? It's because you accidentally fell in a Halloween coffin with some stupid skeleton inside when you were little, right?"
"I'm not!" she raised her voice, blushing a little.
I smiled with sympathy. As stupid as I thought it was, she was my sister, after all. "Don't worry; I will protect you from some fake bones."
"We are not going to use them," she stated and I waved my head, "alright? Crow come with me to the garden."
"Ok," he sighed in relief as we finally decided.
I waited until both Ruka and Crow were out of my visual field before I went to pick up the box myself. Of course I did care and loved my sister, but she couldn't keep this stupid fear forever. It was time to overcome it.
Well i have no idea if Ruka has a fear at bones, but this was the theme and i made it that way. ;)
