Disclaimer: I own nothing. Author's note: Happy New Year, I can't believe that I have been working on this story for so long and I am so sorry that this chapter took so long to post, they are getting harder and harder to write. We are almost at the end of this story and that makes me feel weirdly sad yet happy. I apologize in advance for any and all grammatical errors and I hope that you guys enjoy this chapter. So sorry for the earlier alert telling you this chapter was up, it didn't format right and it took me a while to have time to fix it.

It's not easy keeping such a big secret from those that you love; both Steve and Danny have learned that over the past three months. Sure, everyone knew that Steve and Danny were looking into having a baby they had told them as much, but they hadn't told them that they were actually going through with it. As far as everyone knew, they were still trying to decide whether to adopt or go the surrogate route. But hopefully they would have good news to share with their loved ones once they had passed the first trimester. Danny was a bundle of nerves the week leading up to Liana's appointment. He kept having flashbacks to when Rachel was pregnant with Grace and texting Li to make sure she didn't need anything and making sure she was okay. It's not Steve was much better, yet he was able to keep up the facade as if everything was fine.

He prayed every night that Li and the baby were okay because he couldn't wait to meet the little one. Finally the day came for Steve and Danny to join Liana at her doctor's appointment to see how their baby was progressing. If everything went according to the plan, they would finally be sharing the happy news with those that they love. Danny couldn't wait to see the baby and knowing that this was Steve's first time with this made the moment even more momentous and special for Danny. He knew what to expect and the fact that he was able to walk Steve through it made Danny feel a swell of love and pride. Steve was so nervous that he couldn't even think about driving them to the doctor's office, a feat which Danny found incredibly amusing and adorable.

Danny was nervous and excited too, but he had experience on his side. Li would had been giving them very detailed updates about the pregnancy so he knew that everything was going smoothly, today was just the day that they would be able to actually see their baby. Liana was waiting for them outside of the doctor's office a large smile spread across her face when she saw them. Steve wrapped his arms around her hugging her tightly for a moment before stepping back and taking in her stomach. She smiled and nodded giving him silent permission to touch her stomach. Steve was in awe as his large hand cupped her stomach.

"You're more than allowed to touch considering it your baby ya know." She joked at Danny while Steve seemed lost in his own little world.

"He's an old fashioned goof who always asks before he touches people, except me but that's a whole other thing."

"As if that upsets you." Danny cheekily smiled wrapping his arm around her shoulder as he turned to head into the doctor's office. Steve couldn't help but snort at Danny's face as he pushed the button for the elevator. Danny and Li chatted as they waited for the doctor while Steve sat anxiously next to them. He had no idea how they could be so calm, besides the fact that they had both been through this before: Danny with Rachel and Grace and Liana with her previous appointments. But still, how were they not nervous about what could possibly happen? Steve had so many scenarios running through his head that he sometimes made himself so dizzy and lightheaded that he had to sit down or take a few (many) deep calming breaths.

"Babe, relax." Danny whispered as his hand squeezed Steve's knee. Danny could feel the anxiety rolling off his husband in waves and he feared that Steve was going to work himself into a tizzy. "The doctor took Liana back already and will be back for us in a minute, so I need you to take a deep breath and try your hardest to relax." Steve nodded wondering how on earth he had missed Liana going back with the doctor has he did what Danny told him, taking many deep breaths.

"Alright I'm good Danno, I swear." Danny smiled as the doctor called them back to be with Liana. Steve held onto Danny's hand tightly as they made their way back towards the examination room. They both smiled reassuringly at Liana has they walked into the room, both of them standing on her right. She reached out to squeeze both their hands as the doctor spread the cool gel across her stomach.

"Alright, ready to meet your baby?" Both Steve and Danny nodded fiercely both lost for words at the thought of finally meeting their baby. The doctor smiled and chuckled at how cute they were as she pressed the wand to Li's stomach. Steve felt tears prick the back of his eyes as he saw the first images of their baby, it as if the whole thing was becoming real, they would have this bundle of joy in their arms in a few months. Soon the steady heartbeat filled the room and Danny found himself breathless at the sound of a strong heart beating. He looked at Steve and chuckled when he saw Steve's mouth open and a few tears slipping from the corner of his eyes. "Well that's surprising." Both Danny and Steve's heads whipped towards the doctor alarm and concern written clearly on their faces.

"What is it? Is something wrong?" Liana asked feeling a wave of panic run through her veins."

"Oh no! Sorry, nothing is wrong at all. It just seems as if we have two babies here instead of two."

"Two babies?" Danny croaked his eyes slightly bigger than usual. He couldn't believe that it was possible that they had two babies. "Shouldn't we have known that already?"

"Not really. It has happened where the second baby is shielded from view by the first, it's actually common really. Just listen to the heartbeat." She moved the wand a little bit and another heart beat filled the room. All three of them had tears of joy in their eyes as they listened to both heartbeats. "As you can see they're both developing wonderfully and if you want at the next appointment we will be able to tell the sexes of the babies."

"No." Steve finally spoke grabbing both Li and Danny's attention. "No we want to be surprised. Right?" He asked Danny after a moment of hesitation. Danny thought about it for a moment and nodded reaching out to clutch at Steve's hand.

"Yes, we don't want to know. Liana can know if she wants, but we don't want to know." The doctor nodded and went about printing out the pictures of the babies for Steve and Danny.

"How many copies do you want?" She asked after she had captured the best pictures possible.

"Three of each please." Liana answered already knowing who would be getting the photos besides Steve and Danny. Both smiled in thanks at her as they were trying to absorb this drastic change in events. They were prepared for one baby, but two? They had to change their plan of attack. "So two babies."

"Wow." Danny muttered falling heavily into a random chair in the room. "Two babies."

"You guys are happy right? I know that two is a lot more than one but you still want them right?" The unsure tone of Liana's voice is what snaps Danny out of his surprised stupor and he's at her side in less than two steps.

"We still want the babies no matter what. We're just surprised as I'm sure you are too. It's a lot to process but I can assure you that we are thrilled. Two is much better than one." She nodded wiping at a few tears in her eyes as Danny squeezed her hand. "Let's get you cleaned up and then we'll take you to lunch, we should celebrate." Liana nodded reaching for the towel the doctor left her to wipe off her stomach. Steve was still shocked at the new development. His mind was already trying to figure out how they were going to house two babies. It was enough to send Steve into a full fledged panic attack and he had no idea what was going on around him. He jumped so hard when Danny nudged him that Danny had grabbed him before he fell over. "You okay babe?" Steve shook his head a few times, trying to clear the thoughts running on repeat through his head.

"Yeah, just trying to figure it all out."

"Once a SEAL always a SEAL huh babe? Take a deep breath and enjoy this moment, we can figure everything out once we've told everyone okay? I promise it's all going to work out." Steve nodded knowing that Danny was right, they always figured it out together and this would be no different. "Now we are having lunch to celebrate and figure out how on earth we are going to tell our families." Liana ultimately was the one who decided that they should just have a barbeque and invite everyone over to break the news. She even went ahead and created a special gift for Steve and Danny along with his parents and Steve's mom.

Both Steve and Danny insist that she be there so their families can meet the amazing women bringing their children into the world. Of course, no one finds the idea of a barbeque at their place a surprise, it seems as if they're over at Steve and Danny's almost every other week just hanging out and unwinding when the time permits, a feat both find incredibly comforting. There is no pressure, no one really knows why they're being called over to the house and it's easier to Steve and Danny to figure out the best time to share the news when they are the only ones who know. Everything is going smoothly, everyone is spread out across the yard playing volleyball, playing in the sand, or just lounging on the lanai. Even Doris and Deb seem to be getting along, after taking some much needed time to come to terms with everything. Danny looks at Steve who is playing with Nathan in the sand, this is the perfect time to tell everyone and Danny really can't wait another moment to share the awesome news. Steve nods and stands, asking Nathan to come with him. Danny clinks a knife against is bottle and motions for everyone to come to the lanai.

"We have an announcement to make." He starts as everyone makes themselves comfortable around the lanai. "For the past year Steve and I have been toying with the idea of either adopting or having a child. We thought that with Gracie growing up it would be nice for Nathan to have a younger sibling to play with and so we went back and forth. We decided to let fate give us the answer much like it did with Nathan coming into our family and sure enough we found someone that was willing to carry a baby for us. Liana has been the best surrogate we could ever ask for and after a long process we can officially and happily announce that we will be welcoming not only one but two new bundles of joy into our family in 5 months." No one made a sound, all too shocked up the news to really react. Gracie was the first one to do anything and Steve felt a weight lift from his shoulders as she jumped up and ran towards them wrapping her arms around their waists, the smile so bright on her face that Steve couldn't help but smile and hug her back while also watching everyone for their reactions. Deb had a wide smile on her face and tears streaming down her face too shocked for words clutching Denny's hand in hers against her chest.

"Anybody else?" Steve asked wanting to know what their ohana thought about their plan to expand their family. Chin stood up smiling broadly as he first pulled Danny into a hug and then Steve.

"More Five-0 babies!" Kono exclaimed jumping out of her seat and flying into Danny's arms. Danny chuckled stepping backward from the force of her hug with both Chin and Steve reaching out to make sure that they didn't lose their balance. Everyone quieted and looked at Deb and Doris who were both silently crying tears of joy. Everyone seemed to want to know what momma Deb thought about two more grandchildren.

"I am speechless." She finally said dabbing at her eyes as she stood up making her way over to Liana who had been quietly standing off to the side of Steve and Danny. "Thank you for keeping me the opportunity to have more grandchildren. One is a blessing but two? That my dear is a miracle that I will always thank you for." Liana smiled her eyes a little watery as she hugged Deb.

"Danny and Steve made sure that my sister came home safe from her camping trip and it's the least I could do that thank them."

"Plus we've already decided that Li will always be able to see the twins, it's the least we could do for her." Deb nodded her arm still around Li as she took everything in.

"Where are you going to put these babies once they're here?" Doris asked effectively grabbing everyone's attention. Steve and Danny shared a look knowing that what they were about to say would not go over well, if anyone.

"Well, we've been thinking about this quite a lot since we found out and we think that it might be time to look into buying another house." A collective gasp cut Steve off and made him nervously reach up and rub the back of his neck. Danny reached over grabbing his free hand, giving Steve something to ground himself with. "Trust me; if we could we would love to stay here. This house is our home, we've created a lot of memories here and the last thing I want to do is sell Steve's childhood home, but we need to think about our family and we can't raise four kids in a three bedroom house." Deb and Doris nodded their eyes locked. Steve and Danny watched fascinated as they seemed to pull a McWilliams move and have a silent conversation.

"What if you could add onto the house? Would that make you stay?"

"Of course, but even with Steve's secret Navy SEAL money we can't afford to add onto the house, not with what the babies are already costing us." Danny responded a slightly suspicious tone to his voice.

"What if I offered to help? I know that you won't let me pay for it completely. I mean I do have some money just lying around and it's the least I could do for my grand kids." Steve turned to Danny who motioned for Steve to step away from the group for a minute.

"I think we should do it." Danny spoke first looking up at Steve with a hopeful glint in his eye. "I don't want to sell the only thing you have left from your dad babe, plus I think it would be a great thing to tell the kids when they're older. You got to share this house with both Gracie and Nathan; if we could stay here it would be much easier."

"You don't need to convince me Danno. I thought I had to be the one that convinced you." Danny smiled and reached up giving Steve a fast kiss before turning with a large smile spread across his face.

"So it's decided we are going to let our parents help us."

"And spend the rest of our lives in this house Danny. We're going to play with our grandchildren here." Danny smiled at the wistful dream like tone of Steve's.

"I can't wait babe." Steve smiled brightly pulling Danny towards him letting them enjoy the moment. They finally parted after a sweet yet hard kiss and made their way back where everyone was waiting for them.

"Thank Doris for your generous offer; we cannot wait to make this house our forever house." Danny started making his way over to her giving her a hug. "It's the least I can do for you guys Danny. Thank you for letting me help you."

"So now we just need to find an architect and get this ball rolling."

"I play golf with a great architect, George Hanson. I could see if he could draw something up for you guys."

"Wait you play golf with George Hanson? He built half the island." Denny shrugged at Kono's shocked tone. "George is a simple man who is good at what he does, I bet he would even give you the friends and family discount since you're apart of Five-0 and all."

"That would be great dad, thank you. Seriously thank all of you for everything. I know that having twins is not going to be easy but I'm glad that we have such a great support group. I don't know what we would ever do without any of you. Mahalo." Steve rose his beer smiling brightly as everyone else joined him. He felt truly blessed. Danny smiled at the group and watched as Chin kept sneaking glances over towards Doris and shaking his head with a small frown on his face. While Steve went over to thank his mom and Danny's parents, Danny made his way over towards Chin.

"Take a walk with me?" Chin nodded making sure that Malia and the baby were okay before following Danny away from the group and down the beach a little bit.

"What's up?"

"Not much I just was wondering what was going through your head about Doris. I saw that frosty look you gave her." Chin sighed scratching his chin to buy some time. "Truthfully? I'm apprehensive about her. I feel like she's either trying to buy Steve's love or she has an ulterior motive. I mean I saw how his dad was after Steve and Mary left the island, I saw the sadness in his eyes every time he thought about them or someone asked about them. He truly loved her and she just gave it up for what? To be some super secret spy? It doesn't seem worth it to me. She doesn't deserve to be in Steve's life or Mary's."

"I completely understand where you are coming from. It's the same thing I said to Steve when she resurfaced, hell it's even what Steve said to me about her. For the longest time he worried about how to handle her, if he should even have a relationship with her or not. I think that you're letting your new dad side come out thinking that you would never be able to leave Malia or the baby and I completely agree with you. But I think that we have to let Steve work this out on his own. We both decided to give her limited access to the kids, wanting to make sure she's actually serious about staying before we do anything serious. We're taking this step=by-step but I truly believe that you should talk to Steve about this. He would be happy to hear about what his dad was like after he left, I think sometimes he needs to be reminded that his dad actually loved him."

"I think he needs to hear it too. I'll see about going out just the two of us."

"You're a good man Chin-Ho Kelly and I am insanely glad that we are friends."

"We're Ohana Danny. I'm always looking out for you and Steve." Danny smiled and nodded, Chin was the older brother Danny had always wanted growing up. Clapping Chin on the shoulder he guided them back towards the house where everyone was still chatting excitedly about the babies. Deb was sitting with Liana making sure she was okay and didn't need anything. Steve and Danny sat back and smiled, tonight was as close to perfect as they could get.

The next morning Denny called to set up a meeting with George, Steve was surprised that Denny that moved that fast but Danny just shook his head, he knew his dad would be calling George as soon as socially acceptable. Steve tried to wrap his mind around how quickly this was moving, but Danny set everything up knowing that Steve would struggle with how fast this was moving. It was one of the ways in which they complimented each other and it made Steve smile sometimes he wondered how he ever got so lucky as to meet Danny.

Once they finally met with George, Danny let Steve take control over the meeting. Steve knew exactly how he wanted the house to look and since he was the one that had grown up there Danny knew that Steve needed to be in control over what happened to it. It was hilarious for Danny to sit back and watch Steve give George their list of what they needed for the house. Essentially they were only adding three rooms, but yet in the course of the three days it took for George to get the original blueprints of the house and prepare some preliminary ideas, Steve had decided that if his mother was helping to foot the bill he was going to add a few more things to make this house the perfect beach house. Danny could see that George found Steve's enthusiasm both endearing and entertaining and Danny had to agree, Steve was like a kid in a candy store right now.

"I really think that we should put the master bedroom on the ground floor, we can push the kitchen out and put it right off the dining room with french doors leading out to the beach. This way when our kids grow up, they won't even try to sneak out because we'll be right by the front door. It will make them think twice." George took copious notes smiling fondly as Steve talked out his thought process.

"How long will all of this take?" Danny finally had to ask once Steve had gone through everything he wanted to see done to the house.

"If you can find the right crew, it shouldn't take any longer than 6 months."

"Which would put us back in the house right as the twins are set to arrive." Steve added giving Danny a hopeful look, as if Danny could tell Steve no.

"Whatever Super SEAL says he wants is fine. Let's just get this started as soon as possible since we are going to be on a tight deadline."

"It will probably be easier for both you and the construction crews if you weren't here during the project. Trust me when I say, living with construction is a true test of patience and with your important stressful jobs it might be easier to just stay with your parents while we're building your dream house." Danny and Steve looked at each other, they hadn't thought about whether they were going to stay in the house or not but George did raise a good point. It would be easier if they just stayed with Deb and Denny, it's not as if they would mind. They would love having Nathan and Grace for even more time. "But besides that, I will head back to the office and start drawing up the plans, once you give the go ahead we'll move onto the next phase. Hopefully we will be doing demo by next week."

"Thank you so much." Danny replied standing up to shake George's hand while Steve did the same. As they watched George pull out of the driveway, they realized that they had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Danny could only hope that everything was completely done by the time that they were bringing the babies home.

Endnote: So be honest were you expecting them to be having twins? I sure wasn't, but I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. Let me know what you guys thought about this chapter and until next time ~thatredheadgirl~
