Sorry it has been so long. I actually had a nice vacation reading resting and visiting family . I did write a bit and shall try and do more but no promises but I shall try and update more but I promise I am not quitting this story. this is 3x16.
It was after the fire he was getting really worried. What if Hanna had been hurt? The one silver lining is is that Hanna had enough as well and told Mona off. Worse than before Hanna had told Mona off for ripping up Caleb's letter. He had heard about that from Mona first actually when they went to Brookhaven. but he had talked to Hanna about it teasing him once and he found it was the truth. .
They were looking for the costumes and browsing for the Romeo costume when Mona absentmindedly said "You know, I can see why Hanna got so mad at me now." "What?" Caleb asked curiously as he looked through costumes finding at first only captain hook costumes as well as ones for zombies. Not what he was going for. "Well at first I thought you were definitely a get, being the new bad boy in town. But after you hurt her…I wasn't sure anymore. Since you came back I've really seen you make her happy Caleb. Now I see why she got so mad at me for ripping up your letter. She really bit my head off. She said I hurt her more then you did before you left. Whatever happened there. I can see how much you really care about her. You're something Caleb." She said quietly. "And what's that?" He asked quietly. Not in a flirting voice at all but genuinely curiously. "You're a good guy Caleb.
He shook his head. Mona was a phony, to do the things she had done to Hanna and pretend to care about her. He was glad Hanna wasn't falling for her "I'm better act" but now worried. What would Mona do next. A bit after he got a phone message from Paige. He listened intently wishing he had done this before. "Hey Caleb this is Paige. I got your number from Emily's phone. I wanted to talk to you. This is to help Emily and Hanna. They've been through enough. I think we need to intervene. Can we meet and talk about this privately? Don't tell Hanna. You know Mona is watching them. Call me please." She quested quietly. Her voice sounded strange like she was tired but determined at the same time. He almost thought of asking someone else for more help but Paige was right. The girls were being watched.
That leaves Mr. Fitz and he doesn't think working with the ex -teacher would go well at all. That leaves Toby. He didn't really know toby that well and he couldn't shake the feeling-where did Toby go during Halloween. He didn't know what happened but it was a time when you do not go run off when someone is in trouble like that. For another thing from the moment on the Halloween train he knew he could trust Paige. She really cared about Emily. He knew Paige could handle herself. He had done a bit of research on Paige as well after they thought she was the bad person, she was a swimmer but also had played lacrosse. He knew those weren't easy sports. He wouldn't want to take someone in this mission who couldn't be up to the task themselves. It is a dangerous game they are playing. He looks at the clock and realizes it is too late to call now that he will have to call later. Mona is going down.
Hanna Caleb was studying at Hanna's place when she walked in. Hanna walked in and set down her shoes on the counter so she could hold up two outfits. "Okay which one screams young and hot without being too trendy?" Hanna asked looking at him intently. "You're asking me?." Caleb asked incredulously. Hanna gave a slight silent nod to him "Hanna I've had this hoodie since I was twelve" Caleb reminded her as he held out his arm and looked down at it before looking at her again. "Caleb come on this is important. I have to impress Karin." Hanna pleaded with him the hangers going down slightly at first as a sign of desperation .
"Alright well it's a job interview you're not walking the runway." Caleb reminded her as he moved his hand slightly with the pen in it. "She's the hottest designer in Philly. It would be a privilege to get her a cup of coffee." Hanna stated with enthusiasm as she moved her head and hands slightly to emphasize her point. "And she wants you do it In five inch heels?" Caleb questioned dryly he pointing with his pencil to the counter. "Yeah at least." Hanna insisted quietly tossing her head to the side and holding the outfits in front of each other for a second as Caleb had a barely there sigh and then she held them out for a second for Caleb to inspect and he looked closely leaning forward. "Arlight go with the dress." Caleb stated and paused for a second waving his pen for a second then chewing on it as he stated as he showed how hard he had to think it over "But just to be sure you should probably try it on for me. He obviously just wanted to see her in the dress and Hanna picked up on it giving him a flirty look and smile and said "I'll be right back" she stated and started walking away. He found his phone was ringing and he checked to make sure Hanna was gone before he took the call.
"Hey." Caleb said quietly hoping Hanna was far enough away. "So you heard my voicemail?" Paige asked quietly. "Yeah I thought about it, I'm in. I'm not gonna let her do anything else to Hanna." Caleb says intently. "I'm glad we're on the same page." Paige stated quietly. "We'll talk this afternoon." Caleb promised her as he hung up the phone. "Who were you talking too?" Hanna asked suddenly bursting into the kitchen. Oh crap how long had she been standing there. His mouth hung open a bit in surprise but Caleb tried to play it off. "Uum it was my mom." Caleb replied easily as he reached for his phone instinctively. "It's four thirty in California. Do you always call her this early?" Hanna questioned him a suspicious edge to her voices as she leaned her one hand that wasn't full of clothes on the counter. "She's not in Montecito she's um, in Chicago um business." Caleb stumbled a bit but did the best he could trying to assume Confidence as he lifted up his head as he decided on Chicago. He hated lying to Hanna. He was always pressuring her to be honest not long ago and now he was lying. This was for Hanna though. "So why were you talking to your mom about Mona and me?" Hanna pressed him. "She knows that Mona bullied you and she's just worried about her being back in school." Caleb replied trying to shrug off her questions with a slight lift of his shoulders and looks with his eyes but he worried his shuffling of his arms betrayed him.
"Okay Mona had someone run your mom off the road you shouldn't be talking about her to anyone." Hanna with anger in her voice replied. He knew it was because she was protective though. "Hanna Mona tried to run you over when you were friends. God knows what she's going to do now that you've dumped her." Caleb pointed out as he stood up and gave her a sharp look as he walked towards her. "Maybe she won't do anything." Hanna lowered her voice and said pointedly. "Of course she will, she's A. We need to stay one step ahead of her." Caleb tried to reason with her but Hanna wasn't having it. "Look just promise me that you won't do anything stupid." Hanna gave a frustrated sign and tiled her head to the side then back as she pleaded with him.
"Hanna…" Caleb started as he shook his head at her but she interrupted with those big blue eyes of hers. "Promise me." She pleaded with him again. "Fine I won't do anything stupid." Caleb said in a very quiet voice as he looked at her and shook his head the side moving a piece of hair out of his way casually bringing the conversation to a close. He changed his tone to teasing as he put a hand on her shoulder. "Now let's see something hot and not too trendy." He soon got out of his phone and texted Paige. He was keeping his promise. He was doing the smartest thing for him right now and that was not sitting back and let Mona strike and hurt Hanna or any of her friends. For that he felt two heads would be better then one. They agreed to meet after school at a coffee shop. Caleb hurried there as fast as he could after even changing the time to earlier then before because he had to make sure Hanna would be at her interview when he went. He explained that Hanna overheard so that they had to be even more careful now.
He walks to meet Paige and has starts to feel strange and paranoid but to be sure he looks behind him once to make sure he sees no one familiar but he sees only strangers so he turns around and keeps walking. He walks into the coffee shop and sees Paige over who motions she will be there in a second and he sets down his bag and sits down his chin in his hands. He hoped they knew what they were getting into and he hated lying to Hanna but it was needed. She comes over with two mugs of coffee and says quietly as she plays with her hands nervously. "Thanks for meeting me. I'm sorry you had to lie to Hanna." "Some lies are worth the risk." Caleb responds quietly with a shake of his head. "It took me and Emily so long for us to get to a place where we could trust each other. If she knew we were doing this…" Paige started quietly her eyes lowered slightly at her revealing herself and she ended and her voice trailed off uncertain." Caleb chuckled slighty at how different he was sure the girls reactions would be. He had not seen Emily angry much but Hanna it was a lot easier to get her worked up into a frenzy. Still he knew this was hard for Paige too. That was why they were in this together. "Same with Hanna. She'd find a way to stop us." Caleb admitted but glad to know they were on the same page that no one could know about this.
Paige leaned forward her eyes wide. "I've been really scared since the lighthouse, getting more afraid everyday then the other night I realized I'm afraid for me I'm afraid for Emily. She's been dealing with this for so long it's like she's numb to how dangerous it is." "Yeah. We know Mona has people watching their every move but there is no way she has someone watching all of us all the time so while the girls are playing sitting duck mean I'm ready to circle the pond and .." Caleb tried to strategize but Paige interrupted him with a surprising but true ending to his statement that was delivered with a cool yet firm confidence and nodding her head. "Nail her psychotic butt to the wall." Caleb blinked in surprise but immediately agreed and nodded his head. "Yeah, something like that."
Paige leaned forward and listened as Caleb explained further his movements and voice confidant. "Arlight before she went to Radley Mona had like all the girls secrets locked away in a motel room they were her trophies." "Her prized possessions." Paige stated in wonder yet bitterness was shown on her face. "It's what she used to keep the girls from going to the cops." Caleb ended his explaining and Paige put together his thoughts. "So if we find her trophy room ..we could put an end to this." Paige said in finality. He nodded his head silently. She looked at him at sighed. "This isn't going to be easy." He warned her. "Well you know what they say." Paige smiled and played with her hands again nervously. Caleb looked at her quietly in response thinking about their plan. "Two heads are better than one." She stated quietly. He nodded his head and responded with a hint of a smile on his face "My thoughts exactly."
