Chapter Twenty Nine: Let's Finish This

Ayume went outside to help Kaiya and Hibari clean up the rest of the mess. She gave Kaiya a hug to thank her for letting her stay with them. She even tried to give Hibari a hug but all efforts failed so instead she shook his hand. Yamamoto was behind her carrying her bags to take them back to their room.

"I'm glad you guys fixed everything." Kaiya said giving her another hug. "Me too."

"Plus it would be too weird to see you guys broken up." Kaiya added.

Ayume said her goodbyes one last time and returned next door to her room. Yamamoto went to put her things back. Ayume sat on the couch looking around the room.

"You'll hurt your neck if you keep looking like that." Yamamoto joked. Ayume looked back to see him leaning on the door way.

"It's been a while since I've seen this room."

He walked over and sat next to her. "Can I hold your hand?" Ayume turned to see Yamamoto with that look that would stop her heart in a second.

She nodded as he slowly reached and held her hand. "I was scared at times that I wouldn't be able to hold this hand anymore." He confessed.

Yamamoto looked up at her, "I'm really in love with you Ayume Shinazawa from now on I don't plan on letting you go."

Ayume smiled as she let go and jumped into his arms. "Neither am I."

Yamamoto hugged her back, "You ready for tomorrow?"

"Yeah I'm ready to finish this and go back home. I miss it."

~The Next Day~

It was time of Gokudera's trial so Ayume and Yamamoto headed down to meet them. On their way she ran into Meori.

"Meori good morning!" Ayume yelled running to give her a hug.

"Ayume it's been a while!" Meori grabbed Ayume by her shoulders, "I heard today was you trial with Gokudera."

"Yeah I'm just nervous."

Meori smiled and patted her back, "You'll do fine. Kick his butt."

"Aren't you two like…?" Ayume hinted what she was saying. Meori shook her head no.

"I'm not sure if we're officially official but, I do like him."

Ayume smiled and gave her another hug. "I'll cheer for you Meori!"

The three of them met up Gokudera, Tsuna and Reborn.

"You ready Ayume?" Gokudera asked standing about 15 feet in front of her. "Yeah."

"What happens now?"

"This." Gokudera pressed a button that made targets lift up and surround them. "What's all this?" Ayume asked noticing there were about 10 different targets about 20 feet from them.

"You have to make sure I don't hit one of these targets." He said as he pulled out one dynamite.

Gokudera quickly flew it at the target to her left. Ayume's instinct was to fire back, so she did. Luckily, she hit the dynamite before it hit the target.

"Gokudera-kun give Ayume a second to think." Tsuna yelled.

"Sorry 10th." The short conversation happened so quick Ayume just stopped the last dynamite. But, he already had two more out. He threw then out to his left and right. Ayume shot forward towards the dynamites. Gokudera kept throwing two dynamite at a time for the next 6 times.

"Pick it up Gokudera."

Ayume turned to see who was talking is was…Ayame.

"Shut up woman I know what I'm doing." Ayume heard him say. She looked back at Gokudera who had four dynamite out, throwing them in different directions. Ayume was lucky that she got the last two that were only 2 feet from hitting the target.

"What's the purpose of this?" Ayume yelled at Ayame. Ayame ignored her and looked at Gokudera, "Speed it up."

Gokudera didn't say a word all he did was increase the number of dynamite he threw. He threw five…six…seven…till it was 10.

"How am I supposed to hit them all at once?" Ayume asked she looked at the spot where one of the dynamite fell after she froze it. Inches from the target that's how close it was. Ayame could tell just by the look in her eyes she was getting worried and was beginning to let the amount of firepower overwhelm her.

Gokudera stopped shooting just long enough for Ayame to say something.

"Ayume-chan if one of these targets gets hit…you fail." She continued, "You have one more shot Gokudera make it count..." Once again Gokudera had his dynamite out…double the amount. "…and Ayume by the looks of it you could be beat."

Ayume looked at Yamamoto, who didn't look worried. He smiled at her and mouthed, 'You can do it.' She nodded her head and turned back to Gokudera. He was already ready to fire twice as many bombs needed to destroy 10 targets.

Ayume took a deep breath and looked straight at him. Her expression shocked Ayame just a moment ago she looked like she would admit defeat but now she seemed more confident.

Then just like that Gokudera threw the dynamite. Ayume hadn't had even flinched. Everyone stood there wondering what she was going to do. The dynamites were getting closer to the targets. Everyone thought would she even have enough time to stop 2 of them.

"What are you doing?" Gokudera mouthed. "Ayume? What are you waiting for?" Tsuna yelled.

Ayume quickly opened her hands and aimed for the ground. All of a sudden everything got bright and no one could see anything except for Ayume who was surrounded by this bright light. Her hair was lightly flowing with the breeze. Her expression was still the same but just a little more peaceful.

The light died down and what was now left of the bombs came to a shock to them.

"How did…" Gokudera couldn't even find words for what she had just done.

"Amazing." Reborn and Tsuna complimented.

Ayume slowly dropped her hands and focused on what she just did. A clear icy wall was now surrounding her and Gokudera. She could see the targets on the other side…untouched. She had created a wall of ice to block the bombs from hitting the target.

"Very good!" Ayume turned to see Ayame clapping. Ayame snapped her fingers that made the ice wall melt. "I'm very impressed Ayume-chan."

"I didn't even know I could have done that." Ayume said looking at her hands. "That's the point of the trials to make you awake your powers." Ayame added.

Ayame looked towards Gokudera, who already had his hand out. They both shot a flame out and into Ayume's ring, once again a circle lit up.

"You passed." Gokudera said. Ayume smiled but still looked at Ayame to tell her the purpose of all that.

"There will be times that you'll need to save more than one person. You need to be able to protect those around you. This trial helped show that no matter how many people there are that you'll still do your best to save them, to make sure there isn't one scratch on them. Just like the right hand man who needs to protect his boss, when it's come to it The Ice Guardian needs to protect everyone." Ayame finished explained and said her goodbyes then disappeared.

"Congrats Ayume!" Meori said running up to hug her. "Thanks Meori!"

"Don't worry if you had to fight him I'd vote for you." Meori said. "Hey!" Gokudera said.

She walked over to him Ayume thought it was cute how they looked like they were arguing. Meori would say something to tease him and he would turn red. When they were together that was the only time you'd ever see Gokudera laugh, smile or even blush.

"You did it!" Yamamoto said he opened his arms to hug her but stopped. "Sorry I just don't know if you want me to hu…" He didn't get to finish because Ayume threw herself into his arms.

Yamamoto smiled and hugged her back.

~Later that night~

Ayume invited Kaiya, Haru, Kyoko, Meori and Hana to her room so they all could talk for a little. She kicked Yamamoto out and told him to hang out with the boys for a while.

"So congrats to Ayume for passing!" Kaiya said holding her cup of tea.

"Thanks guys but really I just want to talk to catch up with you all." Ayume continued, "So any news?"

"Well besides you, Ayume, I don't think anyone has news about a boy." Kaiya said.

"Not true Haru and Kaname have been pretty close." Meori added. Haru blushed and shot back, "What about you and Gokudera. He seems to be warming up to you."

"Well it's not easy to act all lovey-dovey with him when he says he needs to be professional in front of Tsuna." Meori continued, "Plus, it's not like Tsuna act professional when Kyoko is around. He could pass for a tomato."

"I think that's sweet." Kyoko said.

"So none of you are dating anyone?" Ayume asked.

"Well I'm in the like stage." Meori confessed. "Me too." Haru agreed.

"I'm not sure about everyone else." Meori said. "Unless Kaiya has something for Hibari." Ayume teased.

"Damn it Ayume!" Kaiya said as she playfully pushed Ayume.

"What I'm just saying you two bring out different sides of each other." Ayume said.

"We don't." She denied.

For a little while longer they all just talked to catch up. Ayume liked when she got to just talk to everyone every now and then. When everyone left Yamamoto came back and went to shower. Ayume went out to the balcony to get some fresh air. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the cool air press against her face, for a good minute or two it was nice and quiet.

"You'll catch a cold."

Ayume jumped at the sudden voice. She opened her eyes to see Ayame leaning on the railing with her.

"Ayame? What are you doing here?"

Ayame looked at her then back out to the view, "I had a feeling you had something to say…so say it."

Ayume hesitated but then she took a breath and asked, "Why all these trials?"

"What do you mean?" Ayame said still not facing her just staring out to the view.

"Why do I have so many trials when they told me that the others only had to do one from each first Vongola Guardian?"

"Because The Ice Guardian is special."

"How so? And what about the one who is The Snow Guardian?" Ayume asked.

"Listen carefully Ayume-chan. The Snow Guardian is rare to find in a family. But, doesn't mean it's not impossible. The Vongola are the only family to have had that flame on record. But, an Ice Guardian that doesn't happen for everyone it's practically impossibly impossible. It's a special flame that falls around the Rain and Snow Flame. Because having an Ice Guardian is almost impossible. You need to show that you are right for the family. By showing the other guardians you're worthy of being one of them, to earn their trust and respect as a guardian. I even had to go through all these trials and I earn my place in the Vongola Family. From my understanding the Guardians between Sky and Snow just have to do one inheritance trial. " Ayame explained.

"Do you understand a little more now Ayume-chan?" Ayame asked as Ayume shook her head yes.

"Well you'll need rest tomorrow is The Cloud Guardian's trial."

Ayame disappeared and Ayume just sat there thinking about tomorrow. She wondered what would her trial with Hibari be like…and then what about Yamamoto's?

"Ayume?" She turned to see Yamamoto wiping his hair with the towel. "What are you doing out here you'll catch a cold." He said as he walked over and held his hand out.

Ayume smiled as she took his hand and followed him back inside. Ayame may have disappeared but she was still watching looking at the two.

"A little bit longer…You just need to wait a little longer Asari." Ayame said looking up at the sky as a single rain drop fell and touched her cheek.

~The next day~

Kaiya met up with Ayume in the lobby when she was on her way to her trial.

"Last night's rain came out of nowhere." Kaiya said noticing the sun shining in. "Yeah it did."

"So you ready for today?" Kaiya asked. "I am just not sure if I'm to be thrilled its Hibari." Ayume said.

"You worried about this trial?" Kaiya asked. "Not really I mean it's just Hibari."

"What about him?" Kaiya asked pointing at Yamamoto who (the entire time) was hugging Ayume by the waist from behind.

"He's freaking out Takeshi is scared Hibari will beat me to a pulp." Ayume tapped his hands, "He hasn't stopped hugging me since this morning."

"Takeshi I'll be fine." She said turning around to hug him.

He smiled and kissed her forehead, "I know."

"Okay love birds time to go." Kaiya said walking ahead of them.

When they arrived Ayume looked around but there was nothing, no targets just an open field. Hibari was already standing in the middle waiting for her.

"You're late." He said. Ayume was about to say something but Hibari was already charging his way towards her. She threw her hands in front of her and shielded herself.

"What the hell Hibari!" Ayume yelled. He said nothing all he did was glare at her.

Hibari didn't hold back he just kept striking her. Lambo and him were probably the only two who used physical contact during their trials. With every blow Hibari gave Ayume blocked. But he was fast and he of course knew how to fight. No matter how much she shielded herself he was still faster in giving another hit.

"HIIIII! Hibari-san aren't you hitting her to much!" Tsuna yelled as Reborn kicked him in the gut.

"You're seriously just going to stand there!" Ayume looked passed Hibari's shoulder and say Ayame standing in front of Yamamoto. Ayume quickly jumped back just enough to give her distance from Hibari.

"You're the one who said The Ice Guardian had a pure flame doesn't that go against fighting for no reason."

Ayame smirked almost laughed at the fact that Ayume was being so dense.

"That's true but you can't just lie on the ground and have your enemy beat you down. You're a pure flame not a weak or coward one."

Ayume understood what Ayame was saying. Even if you don't like to fight if it came down to saving others you have to suck up what you're thinking and go and protect them.

So without warning this time she charged at Hibari, of course he didn't look surprised. He kept trying to hit her with his tonfa but Ayume was persistent to win. Even if she didn't attack him with any frozen weapons she did her best to beat him and before it got dark she did. It was simple all she did was freeze his feet for a second enough to give her time to freeze his tonfas. And just like that it was her win Hibari was upset about it but this trial wasn't meant for anyone to get hurt just to test her ability to fight.

So once again another circle lit up.
