Me: Okay. Third attempt at writing this chapter.

Wolverine: What was wrong with the first two attempts?

Me: They were dragging on. When it feels that way for the writer, something isn't right.

Wolverine: So your writin' it again.

Me: Yep. So, here's what I have decided: The episodes "Sleepless in Ponyville" and "Wonderbolts Academy" happened while DB and Avispa were in Prance. "Apple Family Reunion" will happen during this chapter. Then, there will be three or four more chapters before we finish off the third season. I have also decided that this will end sometime in the middle of season 4 and will...Na. Not gonna give any spoilers for the final chapter. So, that is what's been decided for sure. Now that we've got that established...

Wolverine: Enjoy.

DB walked down the stairs to fix breakfast. He smiled thinking of the perfect breakfast. "Been a while since I've had that." He nodded. "Hopefully Avispa will like it. Though, she seems easy to please." He trotted to the kitchen and got to work.

one hour later

Avispa had been woken up by DB playing a didgeridoo into a microphone. She was ushered out the room before any questions coud be asked. She was now sitting at the table, waiting for DB to bring her her plate. When it was sat down before her, she stared at it. She then looked up at DB. She then looked back down at it, then back at DB. "I give up. What is it?"

"I never really gave it a name. I just threw stuff together one day. Never measured what was put in it."

"Okay. What's in it?"

"Salt, pepper, eggs, milk, random vegetables, fru-"

"So far, it's sounding like an omlet."

"Not enough egg, plus the eggs are already fully cooked before being added. Also, it has bread and more seasonings. So, eat it, tell me what you think." He began eating and watched as she put a forkfull into her mouth. He then had to hold back smirk as she began to devour it. "Like it?"

She stopped and nodded with a blush. "Y-yeah." She then began to eat a little slower.

DB chuckled to himself. "Wow. She reacted almost identical t-." DB stopped as memories came back. Tears began forming in his eyes, but he closed them and shook his head. "That's in the past. This is the present."

"Something wrong?"

DB looked up quickly and offered a quick, slightly forced smile. "No. Just...the way you reacted reminded me of somepony who...I used to know."

"Who?"

"Somepony I used to date."

"Obviously, not one you broke up with. How'd they die?"

DB shook his head. "I don't want to talk about it."

Avispa sighed. "DB. You have so much pain. I'm honestly surprised you are so joyful. I'm even more surprised you haven't killed yourself, especially since you don't tell anypony anything." She stared him straight in the eyes and said, "You need to tell somepony. Otherwise, you'll end up in a much worse situation."

DB nodded and sighed as he looked down. "I know. It's just hard to talk about."

"I understand. I'm here whenever you're ready." Their meal continued on in silence.

45 minutes later

DB walked through the town, not really having anything to do. He was just enjoying the day, when he seen something that gave him pause. He stared as Applejack walked away from Carousel Boutique with fabric. He raised and eyebrow and headed over to Applejack and said, "Hey, Applejack."

Applejack smiled and replied, "Well, howdy, DB. How's it goin'?"

"Good. Mind telling me what's up with the fabric?"

"The Apple Family reunion's comin' up an' they always work on a quilt."

DB nodded. "Okay. That makes sense now. Need any help?"

"Think yall could go an' tell Spike ta come out ta the farm? We'll need 'im ta light some fires."

"Sure thing. Anything after that?"

"Na. That'll be fine."

DB shrugged. "Alright. See ya later, then."

"Later, DB." The two ponies parted company.

with Avispa

She was sitting at a table in the store. Today was a slow day, so she had a lot of time to think. Her thoughts were mostly around DB and how much she actually did not know about his past. "It's strange. He is completely closed to anypony learning about his past. He keeps so much a secret. All I know is that it's painful for him. He's dated quite a few females of different species, he's dyed his mane, tail, and coat, he's traveled, and he was with dragons for a time. Not much to work with."

"Avispa?"

"Huh?" She turned to Fine Grain, who was a few feet away.

"You were staring off into space."

"Sorry. I was just thinking about DB." Fine Grain smirked slightly, which made Avispa blush and say, "Not like that!" She sighed as she shook her head. "It's just, he has told me so little about his past and, what I know of it, doesn't make much sense. I just want him to open up because I can tell that many of the memories hurt him. And, I just don't like the fat that he's in so much pain."

Fine Grain's smirk had transformed into a small smile. "You want to share in his pain. Not uncommon for a friend to do." He placed a hoof on her shoulder and said, "Just let him tell you when he's ready. Just letting him know you're willing to listen whenever he's ready does more than you would think. Just don't push, as that will have the opposite effect." Fine Grain then headed back to the back, once again leaving Avispa to her thoughts.

the next day

DB was up early. Perhaps I should say earlier. There wasn't even the beginning of light outside. He was down in the living room, reading a book, occasionally glancing up at the clock. His ear swiveled at noise. He turned his head to see Avispa trot over to where he could see her. She asked, "What are you doing up?"

"I could ask you the same thing."

She shrugged. "I was heading to the bathroom. I seen the light on."

DB nodded. "I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. So, I decided to read until I either fell back asleep or it was time to start making breakfast."

"So what kept you up?"

"My thoughts. They have a nasty habit of doing that after slow days, like yesterday."

Avispa smirked before letting it fall. "Any specific thoughts?"

DB thought for a second before replying, "Well...There was one about how to make a ninety percent pure cocoa chocolate bar taste better."

Avispa face-hoofed at the statement, mainly because he said it with entire honesty. "Only you."

"No, I'm sure Pinkie would think about that, too."

with Pinkie

She had a chalkboard with a picture of a square with the words "Ninety-percent Chocolate bar" written above it. "Hmm...putting it in cupcakes didn't work. I wonder if it would work to put it in a regular cake."

with DB and Avispa

"You're probably right." They both shared a chuckle. Avispa then headed towards the bathroom and DB returned his attention to the book he was reading. Avispa walked out a few minutes later. She paused as she looked at DB reading. Overcome with curiosity, she asked, "What are you reading?"

DB flipped the book to read the cover. "It's called, 'The Anomaly of the Fourth Wall' written by Wall Breaker the third." He then flipped the book back open. "It's a very interesting read."

Avispa just raised an eyebrow. "O-kay. Wake me when breakfast is ready and please do it gently." She trotted to her room.

three hours later

DB had disregarded Avispa's plea to be woken up gently. He had flipped her out of bed, having her land upside down on the other side of the hallway and glaring at a smirking DB. They then had a simple breakfast of oatmeal. They were now having a pleasant stroll through Ponyville. It had become a rather common sight and ponies just greeted them like normal. Out of town ponies were easily spotted because they would begin running. "I'm surprised at how accepted I am around town."

"Well, you've been here long enough. Everypony now trusts you enough that they don't think you'll try killing them. In many other towns, they'd still fear you. Ponyville is more tolerant because we are more diverse."

Avispa nodded. "Makes sense."

"So, since we have the day free, and you didn't want to play chess or spar" Avispa raised an eyebrow at the fact he said "spar" quieter as he continued, "what do you want to do?"

"Why don't we go to the park?" DB nodded and they both headed that way.

park

DB just laid down in the grass right in front of a bench when they got to the park. Avispa raised an eyebrow at him. "Why?"

"The grass is comfy and relaxing." Avispa rolled her eyes and flew into a nearby tree. DB fell asleep while laying in the grass.

Avispa looked out over the field, having all the time to think she needed. "What is DB hiding from everypony? Why does he not want them to know about him sparring? Does it have anything to do with his past? Hm...I wonder.." She switched to the Hive mind. "Mother?"

"What is it? I'm busy planning for our next attack on Equestria."

"I just need some information."

"What kind of information?"

"I need to know if there are any stallions that any changeling met before I went to Detrot that had fighting skills. If so, I need to know all they had on them. And, this does not include the royal guard."

Queen Chrysalis was silent for a time. "Why is this information important?"

"It may help us learn more about DB."

"Who?"

"The pony I'm living with."

"Why is he so important?"

Avispa face-hoofed. "Fighting skills. "

"Alright. I will inform the rest of the hive. How far back before the Detrot visit are we going?"

"At least nine years."

"Very well."

The conversation ended, once again leaving Avispa to her thoughts. She turned her head to where DB was laying. "What are you hiding?" Avispa kept mulling over her thoughts before falling asleep.

a few hours later

Avispa woke up to messages being sent to her via Hive mind. She quickly ordered them by age as they came in. Once they all stopped, she began looking through them, throwing out all those with the wrong build. She then went back through, examining the fighting style. She was left with only three short clips that might be DB. It was impossible to tell for sure. She sent a message back to the changelings, asking if there were any other memeories of those ponies. She hated being this far from the others, as it meant she could only speak with one at a time. She quickly received a few more memories. But, none of them could help her figure out any of DB's past. All she seen was fighting and a couple dates. She did realize one was DB for sure, as he had his natural color. She was surprised to see him leap from branch to branch. Then, another where he was on a date with somepony. "So that's one of his ex-marefriends." She froze it on that memory and looked at the mare. A sky blue coat and a snow white mane. "I wonder how they met. And how they broke up." She looked towards DB and seen him standing up. "Well, guess I can try asking." She leapt out of the tree and began walking to DB. "Have a good nap?"

He yawned and nodded. "Yeah. Ground's comfy."

Avispa chuckled. "Yeah. Better than rock. And, I have a question."

"Hm?" DB began walking off, but kept his ear pointed to her, to show he was listening.

"Do you know a mare with a blue coat and snow white mane?" DB paused mid-step. This surprised Avispa. He slowly turned around. "Are you okay?"

"Perfect..but uh...How do you know I know that mare?"

"The hive mind. They sent me some memories that involved you sitting in a restaurant with said mare."

DB sighed. "How long is the memory?"

"Well, you're in it for the entire two hours."

"Okay. She and I dated." He snorted. "A friend and I actually had a bet on who would date her. Only one of those bets I won." He frowned and moved his eyes down to the right. He then looked Avispa in the eye, his disgruntled frown went to an angry glare. "Also, I don't like you going behind my back to get information."

"Wha-"

DB cut off her question with a hoof. "Don't even start. I know you were asking for the information. You have tells when you're leaving out information. Plus, you have tells when you are found out." He then turned back around.

"Well, that blew up in my face." She followed after DB with her head hanging.

Me: FINALLY!

Wolverine: Took all day.

Me: And I changed portions throughout. Hopefully I can get the next one out easier. Monday at the earliest. Cutting fire wood tomorrow. Church day after. So, yeah. Review.
