So this is for vcm, who wanted Jacob to catch Sam and Jack in a compromising position.
It had been a while since Jacob had been back on Earth. He and Sel'mac had been busy doing nearly back to back mission for the Tok'ra, which meant that when he had been between mission it hadn't been for long enough to visit his daughter. They had however been in contact with George Hammond recently to arrange a visit to Earth when Sam was actually going to be around, which was why he was now stepping through the gate and into the SGC.
As the gate shut down behind him Jacob looked up towards the control room and nodded to Hammond, and Walter, by way of greeting. While he had come to visit Sam, Jacob also wanted to catch up with Hammond about how his old friend was doing. Because of this, rather than heading straight for Sam's lab, where he was pretty sure he'd find her, he headed up towards Hammond's office.
Jacob and Sel'mac spent maybe a half hour catching up with Hammond before they said goodbye and headed towards Sam's lab.
As they walked, nodding in greeting to anyone that they passed, the two spoke of the last few weeks and months. When they reached Sam's lab Jacob raised his hand and knocked. When there was no sign of anyone coming to the door or any sound of Sam inviting him in he knocked again. He waited for a few moments before he gave up and used the control panel by the side of the door to let himself in. He had expected to find his daughter with her head buried in some project which meant that she hadn't been paying attention to what was going on around her. So he was surprised when he found the room was empty and the lights were off. The laptop on the desk wasn't even open, which Jacob found unusual.
Jacob frowned but shut the door and turned to head for the mess, thinking that maybe she had stepped away for something to eat. When he reached the mess and couldn't see Sam there either he decided to try the infirmary, thinking that maybe she was with Janet.
Once he reached the infirmary he headed towards Janet's office to see if she was there before going into the actual ward. He knocked on the door and then opened it when he heard Janet tell him to come in.
Janet looked up as the door opened and smiled when she saw who it was. "Jacob," she greeted, putting down the pen that was in her hand, "How can I help you?"
"I was hoping to find Sam here," Jacob replied, "She isn't in her lab."
Janet frowned." Have you checked the mess," she questioned, "If she's not here or in her lab she might be there."
Jacob shook his head. "I've already checked there," he explained, "Here was my next stop, I don't know where else to look."
"Um," Janet mussed, thinking about where her best friend could possibly be. "She may be with the rest of SG1," she decided eventually, "I'd try Daniel's lab or maybe Teal'c's quarters."
Jacob nodded. "Thank you Doctor," he thanked as he turned and left. Janet waited for the door to shut before she went back to what she had been doing.
From the infirmary Jacob decided to head for Teal'c's quarters first since they were closer than Daniel's lab. Once he reached it he knocked on the door and waited patiently for Teal'c to answer. He could hear as the Jaffa moved around inside and come towards the door. As soon as the door opened Jacob knew that Sam wasn't in there. "I don't suppose you know where Sam is do you?" Jack asked straight away, forgoing a greeting because from the smell coming from the room he had interrupted Teal'c's kel'no'reem.
"Indeed I do not GeneralCarter," Teal'c replied with an incline of his head.
"Thank you Teal'c," Jacob replied, "I'll leave you to return to your kel'no'reem."
Teal'c inclined his head once more before he shut the door. Jacob turned and carried on towards Daniel's lab.
As they walked Jacob and Sel'mac both wondered where on Earth Sam could be, this was the first time either of them could remember coming to the SGC and not being able to locate his daughter.
The door to Daniel's lab was open when Jacob arrived so he walked straight in, already knowing that Sam wasn't there but wanting to ask Daniel if he had any ideas.
It took Daniel a few moments to look up from whatever is was he was looking at on his desk but when he did he gave Jacob a smile. "Hello Jacob," he greeted, "I didn't realise you were on Earth."
"I've only been here for about an hour," Jacob responded, "I was just wondering if you perhaps knew where I could find my daughter? I've checked everywhere I can think of."
"Well earlier I saw her and Jack in the mess talking about something, but they stopped when I joined them," Daniel answered, "So she might be with him somewhere."
Jacob frowned. "Thanks Daniel. I'll go and see if I can find either of them."
Daniel nodded and returned to his work while Jacob turned and walked into the corridor once more. He had no idea what Sam and Jack could be doing but he did have a good guess for where they might be. With that in mind Jacob headed in the direction of Jack's office. Jacob knew that while Jack pretended he didn't know where his office was he did actually spend a lot of time there when SG1 were at the SGC.
When he arrived at the door Jacob raised his fist to knock but then froze when he heard voices coming from inside. It wasn't the voices that made him stop though; it was what was being said. "We've really got to stop doing this at work," Jack's breathless voice came from inside, slightly muffled but still audible.
"I know," Jacob heard Sam agree, "But we don't really get enough time away from the mountain to keep this a regular thing."
Jacob then heard as Jack groaned before saying, "If we're not careful we're going to get caught and then we're going to be in trouble."
Jack couldn't hear Sam's answer but he did hear a low moan instead.
Even as Sel'mac tried to stop him and make him calm down, Jacob threw open the door with enough force to make it bounce against the wall and back at him. "What the hell is going on here?" he demanded, taking in the startled, and red, faces of the two people in front of him.
As Jacob had made his obvious and spectacular entrance am had jumped away from where she had been sitting on Jack, which didn't go unnoticed by Jacob and was only infuriating him further.
Jacob came fully into the room and shut the door firmly behind him before he walked towards the two guilty, and surprised, looking officers, the anger he was currently feeling clear on his face.
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Jacob hissed before he concentrated most of his attention on Jack and continued to speak. "Colonel O'Neill, I thought you had more sense. Not only are you breaking the fraternisation regulations but you're doing it on a military base, and if what I heard from outside the door is any indication, you've been doing it for a while." Jacob then turned his anger to Sam. "I thought you had more respect for the military than this Samantha. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in you."
Until then Sam and Jack had been sat, and stood in Sam's case, in stunned silence, but with Jacob's final scathing words their expressions turned from shocked to angry. Sam was the first to reply to her father. "If you hadn't jumped to conclusions Dad and just asked what was going on then you would know that we're not breaking the frat regs."
Jacob raised an eyebrow before he looked Sam up and down, making it obvious that he could see Sam's clothing choices, or lack thereof. She was wearing her BDU bottoms but her jacket was off to one side and she was clad in only a tank top. Jack was a little better, wearing his BDU bottom and a tee, but his messy hair wasn't helping with Jacob's mood at all.
"Jacob," Jack spoke in a calming voice, causing the angry man's glare to switch from Sam to him, "You know I would never do anything to jeopardise Carter's carer. If you'll just calm down we can explain what is actually going on."
Jacob was about to retort that he really didn't want to know when Sel'mac forcefully took over, fearing that her host was going to do or say something that he would later regret. "We shall listen," Sel'mac agreed, "But I cannot promise that Jacob is going to like it."
"Thank you Sel'mac," Sam and Jack said together.
"Whatever you heard when you were listening at the door," Sam started, "You've got the wrong idea."
"What I heard," Jacob replied, trying to keep his tone level, "Was the two of you moaning and groaning and saying that you've got to stop doing whatever this is at work, but that you don't want to because you don't have enough time away from the mountain to make this a regular thing."
Sam and Jack looked at each other before Jack answered. "A few months ago," Jack began, "I noticed that Carter kept rubbing the back of her neck and shoulders."
"So?" Jacob interrupted, "That doesn't explain any of this."
"I had a lot of tension in my muscles," Sam took over, ignoring her father's comment, "And it was causing problems because it wasn't just my neck and shoulder, it was in my calfs and thighs too, which sometimes made running difficult. Colonel O'Neill said that Sara had had something similar when Charlie was little. It's caused from standing, or sitting, in the same position for too long. He also said that the Doctor they had been to see about it taught him how to deal with it, so he was helping me sort it out. We're in here because he was giving me a massage, of sorts, like he has every week for the last couple of months."
Jacob frowned before asking, "Why were you sitting on Jack's lap when I came in then?"
"For one of the techniques I was taught that's the best and easiest position to be in to do it," Jack explained, "See, nothing was out of order."
"So why were you saying you needed to stop doing it at work?" Jacob wanted to know.
"Because it's a long process," Sam responded. "And we wanted to keep it quiet because there's nothing wrong with me but Janet would want to run tests and everything else."
"What about the groan I heard from Jack before I came in?" Jacob wanted to know, "The moan from you sort of makes sense but that doesn't."
Sam looked at the floor and blushed a little while Jack replied. "When Carter moved to sit on my lap she misjudged it a little and ended up squashing something that shouldn't have been squashed."
Jacob nodded at Jack's words, knowing exactly what he meant. Jacob then remained silent for another few moments before looking away from Sam and Jack and saying, "I'm sorry."
Sam just smiled while Jack relaxed back into his chair again, happy in the knowledge that Jacob wasn't going to try and kill him.
"I didn't realise you were here today," Sam said to her father, changing the subject quickly and effectively.
"My last mission ran over," Jacob explained, "So I couldn't do the next one and I was given to another Tok'ra, so I got some time off."
Sam nodded in understanding before she picked up her jacket and put it on. She gave Jack a nod in thanks before she headed to the door. She opened it but before Jacob followed her out he looked at Jack and stated, in a level tone and with a completely blank face, "I ever find out that you have been things you shouldn't be with my daughter, there won't be anywhere you can run where I won't find you."
Jack nodded in understanding while Jacob and Sam left.
If anyone else has anything else they'd like to see in this story, so long as there is someway I can make it involve running, then feel free to tell me, I'm running a little low on ideas at the moment.
