Finishing off the promo Stephanie e-mailed it to Vince before she put her laptop back on the coffee table and adjusted the ice on her knee, she really needed to get some food as she was starving but she didn't want to eat alone so she decided to use Dwayne's offer of help if she needed it and sent him a text:
I don't suppose you need some lunch do you? I'm hungry but don't want to eat alone as I feel like I'd be feeding myself to the wolves.
Dwayne was sat ringside helping a few of the lower card guys go over their match later with Paul when he heard his phone beep so he reached for it and laughed when he saw what Stephanie had texted him, "I've got to get going as I have a lunch date, I know you'll be okay with Hunter though, he knows what he is doing."
Paul stood there confused as to who Dwayne had a date with but it wasn't his place to ask as he was sick of people sticking their nose into his life so he wasn't going to do the same to somebody else.
Walking away from the ring Dwayne quickly replied to the text:
I'm starving. Give me five minutes to come and get you and we can go and eat.
Relieved when she received his reply Stephanie shut down her laptop and just waited.
Knocking on Stephanie's locker room door before she slowly pushed it open and stuck his head inside, "is madam ready for some lunch?"
Nodding her head Stephanie tossed the ice pack onto the coffee table, "my hero."
Shrugging his shoulders he hadn't done anything, "I was hungry, I was looking for an excuse to get away from ringside to eat so you did me a favour."
Laughing she pushed herself up from the couch and limped over to Dwayne walking a littler easier than she had done before, "well I'm glad I could help you even if I wasn't really trying to. I'm starving though so let's go."
Escorting Stephanie to catering he treated her like his friend because that was what she was, he didn't care about her surname but he did care about her happiness and he had noticed that she looked happier when he was keeping her company.
Entering catering the two of them separated and got their own food before they sat down again at a table and ate and talked together.
After lunch Stephanie and Dwayne separated before she went back to her locker room to gather her things together for the next production meeting which would start soon. Once she had her papers she made her way to the conference room ready to find out what Vince thought about their ideas for the promo.
Paul had deliberately spent as much time as possible away from Stephanie as he was afraid that people would start thinking that they were still together and neither of them wanted that to happen so he thought this was for the best.
When he got to the production meeting he was concerned that he would be in trouble with her but when he sat down almost opposite her and she made eye contact he knew that she wasn't mad.
As the production meeting started Stephanie focussed her full attention on what Vince was saying so he couldn't pick her up on it and say that she wasn't paying attention. When he came to talk about her re-written promo for the night she held her breath but when he said he liked it she let the breath out slowly however she was a little suspicious about why he liked it.
Not having time to think about it just yet she turned her full attention back to the meeting and would talk it over with Paul afterwards to see what he thought.
After the meeting Paul followed Stephanie back to their locker room and collapsed onto a seat, "so do you think it's too soon for me to be in here with you?"
Sitting down on the couch she raised her eyebrow, "excuse me?"
Laughing he shook his head, "I meant do you think people will question things and say we're spending too much time together?"
Shrugging her shoulders she didn't care, "don't know and quite frankly I don't care. Did you know they're all making bets about us?"
Raising his eyebrow he looked at her shocked, "you're kidding right? What are they betting about?"
"Well there is how long until Vince and I are talking again, how long until our storyline ends and how long until you get a new girlfriend."
Shaking his head sometimes he wondered what went through their heads, "fantastic. It's little wonder why people have been asking questions."
When he said that she suddenly remembered what she was going to say to him, "oh talking of people asking questions. When Amy came to see my earlier she was talking about her character but then she wanted to know if it was true that we had split up but it wasn't so much the question that had me confused, it was her reaction when we got interrupted by one of the trainers who I forget who it was because so much has happened between then and now but the second he left she basically ran out as fast as she could."
"Maybe she realised how intrusive that question was?"
Shaking her head she didn't believe that at all, "I want to believe you but I don't think it is true at all. There is just something about the way she was that felt like she had been sent here to spy."
He knew his girlfriend was struggling but he didn't realise that she was starting to doubt everybody, "who do you think may have sent her to spy on you or us?"
Shrugging her shoulders she wasn't sure, "I don't know if it is the boys and girls because they want to win the bets or if it is something my Dad has done as he doesn't trust me."
As much as he didn't think she was right about somebody spying on them when he heard her say her Dad could be behind it he wasn't immediately against the idea as he knew Vince and he knew that he would sometimes go to crazy lengths to get what he wanted. Not wanting to be the one to tell her that he decided to just hope that it would pass without him having to agree with her, "let's not give them the satisfaction of them making us think about them and their motives. Ignore them and let's focus on us."
Smiling softly she liked the sound of that a lot, "sounds good to me. Let's spend a bit of time going over the promo tonight before I need to change and have my knee wrapped for the show."
"You're going to have it wrapped for the show? I am impressed."
Rolling her eyes playfully she shook her head at him, "it was the trainer's suggestion so I can't take any credit."
Laughing he moved to sit beside her on the couch, "they may have suggested it but you're doing it so I'm proud of you for that because you are the one saying you will do it."
Turning to face him she smiled, "I can get a kiss now yes?"
Leaning forward he pressed a kiss to her lips, "better?"
Smiling she nodded her head, "yes, thank you so much I feel a lot better. Shall we get our focus on the promo for a bit?"
Grabbing the papers that Vince had printed out for their promo he handed one to Stephanie, "let's get this done."
