A/N: Hey there everyone and welcome back to a brand-new chapter of 'Robins', it's been a while since I've worked on this story huh? I just want to say sorry for the long wait and I'm amazed to see the amount of people who have been either favoriting or following this story.
It's just that I had a bit of writers' block and my other two stories had my attention, especially 'Supernatural: Anime Discussion' it had gotten a sudden boost of interests from the fans of that story which was why most of my attention was focused on that one.
Well anyway as you already know season three of 'Young Justice: Outsiders' will air sometime in 2018 and I'm going to try and finish things up here in season one setting; I want to hurry up and move on in the next three chapters.
Alright that's enough of that, you guys have been waiting almost a year for the new chapter and it's time I deliver.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything what so ever in this story, they are all the property of DC Comics.
(Mount Justice 5:25 PM)
"So, are you kids just going to keep standing there? Or are you going to untie me?" Jason asked as he struggled to get free.
"Um sure." Conner said as he approached Jason and easily snapped the rope apart with his bare hands.
"Thanks, you know under normal circumstances I would've been able to free myself but I was blind-sided by an asshole, though it's not the first time that's happened." Jason said as he did a few stretches.
"So, Renegade done this sort of thing to you before then?" Wally asked him.
"Back when I was eleven either him or Bats would do that as part of my training, though Grayson would mostly go easy on me, all the other times after that though was when some nut job would grow a pair and try it. The result of them doing that to me was not very pleasant to say the least." Jason told the young speedster.
"I feel as if it's best that we don't know happened to the people that would try and ambush you on a somewhat regular basis then." Wally commented to him.
"Smart choice, for the record though most of the time I plan on letting myself get captured. Well if you kids will excuse me I'm going to see if I can override the cave's system since there might be a 50/50 chance that they were bluffing about keeping me stuck here but I'm not going to take that risk." Jason stated to the team as he headed towards the zeta tube's control panel.
"Hold on a second there, in case you forgot we're supposed to be mentoring you." Artemis told him.
"You make an excellent point there Spitfire; you guys can mentor me with overriding the cave's system, that way it'll make things go by a lot quicker for everyone." Jason suggested to them as he worked on the control panel.
"I know that this might not seem all that ideal to you right now, but why don't you at least give it some thought before you attempt to leave us." Me'gann suggested to Jason.
"Alright Sweetie I'll at least give it some thought…Okay I thought about it and after some very deep soul searching I have decided to relieve all of you from this heavy burden." Jason said not making eye contact with them.
"Seriously? That was like three seconds." Raquel said to him.
"It was a very insightful three seconds Rocky." Jason told her.
"If three seconds is that thought provoking then six seconds must've lead you to have several epiphanies." Zatanna said sarcastically to the former boy wonder.
"You should see what twelve seconds gets me Zee-Zee." He replied with a little grin on his face.
"Alright what is up with the nicknames?" Wally asked him out of curiosity and small hint of jealousy.
"Hey, I call'em as I see'em, I mean Me'gann is sweet which is why I call her 'Sweetie', Artemis is a spitfire which is self-explanatory, I call Zatanna Zee-Zee since everyone else calls her 'Zee' and I wanted to make it stand out and it also has some connection to that rock band, and as for Raquel's nickname 'Rocky' in all honesty I just thought it sounded cute." Jason explained to the Team.
"Well in that case I bet you must have some awesome nicknames for us too then?" Wally asked him with a huge grin on his face.
"Yeah as a matter of fact I do it's Wally, Kaldur, and Conner." Jason said with a little chuckle.
"I think it's safe to say that he only comes up with nicknames for the girls." Conner said to both Kaldur and Wally.
"I have nicknames for Starfire and Raven too; well that should just about do it." Jason said as he walked into the Zeta tube.
The lights in the tube began to light up and the machine was running as Jason stepped into the tube's entrance way waving goodbye to the team.
"Well it's been a hoot and a half but I have some asses that needs be kicked." He told them ready to be teleported out of there.
Then suddenly the tube stopped working much to the surprise of everyone present especially Jason who was less than pleased to say the least.
"Alright what the fuck? That should have override the cave's system what gives?" He asked perplexed by this turn of events.
"Looks like they weren't bluffing after all." Conner said to the others as they all watched as Jason tried working the control panel again.
"Oh man I'm such an idiot! I should have known that they were going to use the AW-66 command." Jason said as he shook his head in annoyance.
"I assume that the 'AW-66' command is one that prevents you teleporting." Kaldur said to Jason.
"Yeah it requires at least two or more of us 'boy wonders' to prevent the usage of any of the nearby zeta tubes by a specific person regardless of rather or not they live in that universe." Jason explained to them.
"Wait, what about the communicators? Can't you guys still use those?" Wally asked him.
"When 'AW-66' is in affect the communicators can only take you back to your home universe and nothing else, can't even hitch a ride with someone else either, plus Grayson made sure to take my communicator from me too. Only the people who activated it in the first place can deactivate it back at the Nest, which means that Rob and Grayson pretty much got me on lockdown for the time being." Jason explained to the team.
"Wow you guys sure do like be prepared." Wally commented.
"Part of the training; well anyway since I'm going to be stuck here for the next few hours might as well make the best of it then. I'll be in front of the TV if you need me and
"And for the next few hours we can call that our team bonding exercise." Jason told them taking a seat in the recliner.
"Well this is going to be one long couple of hours." Wally said in the psychic link.
"We did promise both Robin and Renegade that we would mentor Red Hood for them and who knows maybe it could turn out to be fun." M'gann told them in a optimistic tone.
"The word 'fun' is kind of subjective here, besides are we really sure we can handle this?" Artemis asked them.
"Worth a shot, what do we have to lose?" Conner told them.
"I know you guys are having a psychic conversation about me back there, if you have something to say then at least have the decency to say to my face." Jason told them without taking his eyes off of the TV.
"Apologies, we are aware that you do not whish to partake in this but it is very important to both Robin and Renegade, and we promised them both that we-"
"Look I get it, I'm basically a chore for you kids and why try to fool ourselves here? We all know that there is no way that this will probably turnout like any of you hope, which is why I think we're all better off with me just sitting here watching TV and maybe playing a few video games to pass the time." Jason explained to the team.
"We do not consider you a chore, and we are ready and willing to put in the effort to see this through to end." Kaldure told him in a sincere voice.
"You guys are really serious about this huh?" Jason asked as he looked at the rest of the team.
"You bet we are, so give us your best shot." Zatanna said with a smirk on her face which made Jason chuckle a bit.
"Oh Zee-Zee you guys wouldn't survive my best, alright since you kids want to go through with this I'll humor you a bit; what is the first thing you want to teach me?" Jason asked as he stood up to face the team.
"Since Robin wanted to work on improving your teamwork skills maybe we should start with some trust exercises." Artemis suggested to the former boy wonder.
"Like trust falls?" Jason asked the young archer.
"How about we start with names, you obviously know all of our names so why don't you tell us yours." Raquel asked him.
"Alright Rocky, you guys can call me 'J' for the time being. Though for the record I'm surprised Rob haven't told you guys my full name yet, then again I forgot that he's a bat after all." Jason told them with a grin on his face.
"'J'? How come you don't want to tell us your full name?" Conner asked him.
"Baby steeps baby blue, besides if I tell you guys my secret identity right now then it won't be any fun for me." Jason said smirking at them.
"Rob did tell us that you like to mess with people sometimes." Zatanna told him which piqued Jason's curiosity a bit.
"So Rob's been talking about me huh? Tell me, what kind of things has he said about me?" Jason asked her.
"Oh you know the usual stuff." Zatanna replied with a grin.
"What kind of 'usual stuff' has he said? Because I have a few ideas on what that might be." Jason told her.
"He told us that you have some anger issues that's mostly directed towards Joker and Ra's Al Ghul for some reason." Conner said to him.
"Let's just say that me and them have some unfinished business." Jason said in a low murderous tone that didn't go unnoticed by the others.
M'gann in particular to exceptional notice of it when she sensed all of the anger rolling off of him, she assumed that those two were connected to the vision she saw of him back when he and Rob switched bodies.
"He also told us about Black Mask." Wally said changing the subject.
"Yeah screwing Black Mask over is pretty much a hobby of mine; man last December I ambushed him on his way to his car and chloroformed him, then I striped him naked, tied his hands behind his back, stuck a road-flare up his butt, poured a bunch of gravy on him, and had a bunch of dogs chase him three blocks in the snow." Jason said smiling fondly at the memory as the rest of the team had shocked looks on their faces.
"Dude, why in the world would you do something like that?" Wally asked him.
"I was celebrating Hanukkah." He casually answered.
"Didn't know you were Jewish." Artemis told him.
"I'm not, I wanted to be culturally sensitive and celebrate one of the other two holidays of that month, and for the record though I recorded the whole thing on video and when I'm done messing with Mask I plan on posting it online some day." Jason said smirking at his handiwork.
"Huh... Can we see it?" Wally asked wanting to see the video of the Gotham mob boss getting chased down the by dogs.
"Perhaps we should move on to something else; Hello Megan! I got it how about we head into town." M'gann suggested to everyone.
"Good idea, it's better than being stuck in cave all day." Artemis said agreeing with her.
"Quick question; how do you guys know I won't try to ditch you once we get into town?" Jason asked them.
"I guess we will have to trust that you make the right decision." Kaldur told him.
"Fair enough, before we head out I need to make a quick stop at the little birds room." Jason said before leaving.
"When he said 'little birds room' was he talking about the bathroom or Robin's room?" Raquel asked out loud.
"No idea but my money is on the second one." Wally answered.
(Happy Harbor 6:15 PM)
The Team, plus Red Hood, landed the Bio-ship in a secluded part of the park in camouflage mode and made their way into town. Jason couldn't help but notice how different it is here compared to his Gotham, it even made him wonder what his life would've been like to be raised in a place like this.
"Are you alright?" Zatanna asked as she placed her hand on his shoulder bringing Jason back to reality.
"Oh, yeah I'm fine Zee-Zee I was just lost in thought for moment there; anyway this is Happy Harbor huh? I'll admit it dose live up to it's namesake." Jason told her.
"So what do you guys want to do first?" M'gann asked them with a bright smile on her face.
"Hey Megan!" A female voice called out to the young Martian catching her by surprise.
She turned to the direction of where the voice was coming from and saw that it was Wendy Harris running towards her.
"Hi Wendy, what you doing here?" M'gann asked her.
"I was on my way to meet up with Marvin at that new paint ball place that just opened up." She explained before she noticed the rest of the Team.
"Hey Wendy." Conner said waving at her.
"Hello Megan! Wendy let me introduce you to some of our friends they're visiting from out of town." M'gann said as she introduced Wendy to the Team, but she took a certain look over at Jason.
"Hi, So you're Wendy? Conner here has told me all about you." Jason said as he greeted the young girl.
"I/He have?" Conner and Wendy both asked at the same time.
"Yeah he's always going on and on about school and stuff, I tell ya he's a real chatter box sometimes. Where are my manners I'm J, Conner's big brother from the 'Big Brother/ Little Brother' program." Jason said introducing himself to her.
"Conner you never mentioned you were in that program." Wendy said to the boy of steel who had a confused look on his face.
"He doesn't like to talk about it much, he's a little embarrassed, oh and let me introduce you to Kal and Wallace, they're big brothers couldn't make it so I'm filling in for them." Jason said wrapping his arms around the two boys.
"That's really nice of you, some guys wouldn't take time out to do volunteer work like this." Wendy said to Jason.
"What can I say, I'm good with kids; anyway this paint ball place sounds like fun, could you take us to it?" Jason asked Wendy.
"Sure, follow me." She said leading the way as they all followed her.
"What was all that about?" Conner asked Jason who couldn't help but smirk at them.
"That? That's something I do with Rob and the others sometimes, and besides this sounds like it could be a fun team building exercise." Jason said with a devious grin on his face that made the team a little nervous.
"This is not going to end well." Wally said with a groan.
"Well we did tell him to give us his best shot." Zatanna said to the young speedster.
"Trust me Zee-Zee, this isn't even anywhere close to my best."
A/N: There you go everyone chapter 29, now I'm sorry for the year long wait, see I started the chapter back in July and you know how it is with writer's block and stuff. Anyway I was going to make this chapter longer, but I figured all of you have waited long enough for a new chapter and I haven't updated this story all year so here you go.
Next chapter will involve a little bit of action to it and maybe a look into Jason's past as he opens up to the team a little bit, but remember he's not going to tell them everything about himself folks.
One more thing, I saw the 'Batman and Harley Quinn' movie and I thought it was pretty good and I was thinking of bringing that up in chapter 31. You know I think it would be fun to see the guys reactions to Nightwing's new look and maybe them learning about what happened between him and Harley; let me know if you guys think I should bring that up or not because it would be cool to see Nightwing explain himself.
Well anyway that's pretty much it and be on the look out for the next chapter but don't worry it won't take as long as this one did to get done.
So Read and Review and I will all of you later.
