CHAPTER 29-
I groaned as the baby monitor went off for the third time that night. Hermione made a strange sound as she sat up, but I pushed her lightly back down. 'I'll do it.' I climbed out of bed, shivering, regretting my decision to wear just boxers, and padded out of the bedroom, down the hallway and into the nursery. Orion was screaming out his lungs in the nearest cot. Still half asleep, I picked up my son, my nose immediately realising what was wrong with him.
'Thanks, Orion.' I took him over to the dresser and laid him down, grabbing my wand from where I had left it earlier that night. Hermione didn't like me using my wand to change the twins' nappies, but it was better than the alternative. 'Just don't tell your mum, alright?' I smiled at Orion and used my wand to take off his nappy and clean him up, deciding to put on the new nappy by hand. His crying had calmed now, but he had now woken up Ara with his sobs. I sighed and lifted Orion up, rocking him back and forth in my arms, and went over to Ara's cot, letting my daughter hold my hand as I sang to them both.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
As Orion stopped crying, there was a sot laugh and I turned around, seeing Hermione stood in the doorway, grinning at me. 'I didn't know that you knew the sorting hat song.'
I returned her smile. 'I can't remember the rest of it. You didn't need to get up. I had it under control.'
'I know. I like it when you sing though.'
'I can't sing to save my life.'
She laughed again. 'You're not that bad.' She kissed my cheek, then Orion's forehead, his chocolate eyes staring at his mother. 'I don't think we'll be able to get them back to sleep. Time for breakfast?'
'Now?'
'It's half five in the morning, Draco. We may as well have breakfast now whilst they're settled. Besides, your parents are looking after the twins this morning so we can get some sleep.'
'Okay.'
Hermione picked up Ara, kissing her forehead as Ara snuggled into her mother's arms. Hermione smiled down at her daughter then turned to me. 'Come on.' She made to leave the room, but I grabbed her foreman gently and turned her around before kissing her fully on the mouth. 'What was that for?'
'I need a reason to kiss my fiancée?'
She laughed and shook her head. 'I suppose not. Breakfast?'
My parents came across two hours later to look after the twins, and after three hours of caught up sleep, I dragged Hermione into the shower with me, who was reluctant to show her post-birth body to me. 'I have stretch marks, Draco, and my tummy doesn't look like it used to do.'
'But your breasts are bigger.' Hermione blushed and looked away from me. 'You were beautiful before you got pregnant, when you were pregnant and you're beautiful now. Okay?' She nodded, still biting her lip as I undressed her. I unbuttoned her pyjama shirt, pulling one of her nipples into my mouth as they were revealed to me, massaging the large globe with my other hand, making Hermione moan. She took off her shirt completely and threaded her fingers into my hair to pull me closer to her body. 'You're a bit eager.' I murmered against her skin and she laughed quietly.
'I suppose that we haven't been alone together for a while. I've missed this.'
'Believe me, I've missed this more.' I kissed her hard on the mouth to prove it, cradling her head with one hand and letting me other drift down her torso and slip under the waistband of her pyjama pants, a finger slowly entering her. She moaned straight away, grabbing my shoulders.
'That feels good…'
'I've barely even touched you.' She blushed and kissed me, divesting both of us our clothes and started the shower up. Hermione pulled me into the cubicle and kissed me under the stream of water, letting me wrap her legs around my waist, my semi-hard member brushing against her wet core. Hermione took my shower gel from the plastic shelf and squirted some onto her hands, running them down my arms and chest, tweaking my nipples slightly and placing a kiss on each of them, making me groan. I leaned up to kiss her but it turned into a gasp as she began stroking my member, lips rolled together in concentration. 'Fucking hell, Hermione…' I braced myself against the wall with one of my hands, pulling her hands away from me when I felt myself close to release.
Hermione grinned at me, kissing along my jaw as two of my fingers entered her, making slow and shallow strokes. She moaned into my neck, sucking at my skin to stop my parents from hearing her cry out in pleasure. After I was sure she was wet enough, I kissed Hermione again. 'We don't have to do this if you're still feeling sore.'
'It's not so bad anymore. Just go slow, okay?' I nodded and entered her, both of us moaning straight away. Hermione's walls fluttered around as she readjusted to me being inside her, not having been joined like this for nearly a month. 'I forgot how good this felt…' I kissed Hermione, hiding my smirk, and began thrusting up into her, her hips meeting mine, both of us trying to keep our moans of pleasure quiet from my parents.
'Please, Draco… more…'
'Are you sure? I don't want to hurt you.'
'It doesn't hurt. Please, Draco!' I smirked at her plea but complied nonetheless, plunging into her faster and we both went hurtling to our release, whispering each other's names onto the other's wet skin as the water streamed over us.
When Hermione could stand again, I grabbed my wand from outside of the shower and cast the contraceptive charm on her and set about washing her body and hair. 'Are you sure I didn't hurt you?' I asked as I massaged the shampoo into her scalp.
'I would have told you if you had. I'm just glad that you remembered the contraceptive charm this time. I can't deal with any more children right now.' I laughed and rinsed us both of, holding Hermione close to me under the hot water, but she soon turned it off. 'What was that for?'
'As much as I love being held by you, we have things to do and your parents can't stay here all morning. Come on.'
After lunch, I held Ara as she played with her favourite teddy dressed in Hogwarts robes that McGonagall had bought her. 'Hey, Ara, watch this.' I picked my wand off the floor and charmed the teddy to play with her and she gurgled with laughter.
'What are you doing?' Hermione asked, coming into the living room holding Orion.
'What does it look like?'
'I'm not really sure.' She sat next to me on the settee, watching me for a few seconds before taking out her own wand and conjured her patronus, letting her otter run around Orion, who squealed happily. Just as Hermione's patronus faded, there was a knock on the door and Hermione got up to answer it, reappearing a moment later with Kingsley. 'Afternoon, Draco.'
'Kingsley.' I smiled at the Minister who came to shake my hand. 'Look, Ara, it's your godfather.' She smiled at him, cuddling her teddy that I had now stopped charming to move.
'Would you like a drink, Kingsley?'
'A cup of tea if you don't mind. I'll hold Orion for you.' Hermione smiled gratefully as she handed our son to the Minister and headed through to the kitchen, Kingsley sitting beside me on the settee. 'Parenthood seems to suit you two.'
'Really? I don't think we'd be coping this way if it wasn't for all of the help from our friends and family.'
'You're doing fine. But I do have something to talk to you about.' A strained look overcame his face and I frowned.
'What's wrong?'
'Blaise came to tell me about Ron the day that the twins were born, as you had told him to. I know that you were stressed that day, but I hope that you realise Ron couldn't have posed as the father. The fathers of all of the children being born at St Mungo's are logged in a book behind the front desk, and Ron would need a polyjuice potion and your wand to pose as the father.'
'My wand?'
'If the staff are unsure about your identity, they'll identify you with your wand. They were obviously sure who you were so didn't bother, but even without the polyjuice or your wand, Ron Weasley is obviously not you.'
I narrowed my eyes at Kingsley, slightly confused. 'Okay… so Weasley couldn't have posed as me unless he somehow gained the brain power to brew a polyjuice potion as well as steal some of my hair and my wand. What's your point?'
The Minister sighed and shifted Orion in his arms as he brought a vial out of his pocket, the mud coloured liquid of the polyjuice potion moving inside of it. 'After Hermione gave birth, I went back to the Ministry and waited until Ron went home, and several aurors helped me to search the office. We found this, a stolen vial of polyjuice potion in a locked drawer in his desk.' I stared at the vial, my mouth slightly open, unconsciously holding Ara tighter. 'If he's stupid enough to try and do this, I dread to think what he actually might succeed in doing. Do you want me to post an Auror outside the house in case he tries something?'
I bit my lip, unsure of what to do for the best. If I agreed to have an Auror guarding the house, I would have to tell Hermione what was going on, which would make her worry uncontrollably. But if I didn't let her know and the Weasel did something, she could potentially be in a lot of danger. She was strong and clever, and had been able to defeat anything whilst we were at Hogwarts. But the war had taken its toll on her, and if the fight with McCann was anything to go by, she might not be ready to see off the Weasel.
'I'll think about it.'
'Think about what?' Hermione asked as she re-entered the room, not paying too much attention to me and Kingsley as she was more concentrated on laying the tea down and having Orion back in her arms. I pocketed the vial of potion before Hermione turned around and I smiled at her.
'Kingsley just wanted to know if I could go on an Auror mission next week, even though it's a few more weeks before I have to return to work.'
'Sorry, Kingsley, but he's not going anywhere until he needs to.' Hermione smiled at me and I laughed.
'There's your answer then. Thank you.' I took a mug of tea from Hermione and we sat in silence for a few minutes as we drank it.
'Anyway,' Kingsley said as he finished his drink, 'I have to go. I have a meeting in an hour. I'll see you all another day.' He quickly kissed Orion, Ara and Hermione on the cheek then grasped my hand tightly. 'Think about it, Draco.'
As soon as Kingsley left, Hermione turned to me. 'You're lying. There's no Auror mission. What's wrong?'
I sighed and took out the polyjuice potion: worrying uncontrollably it was then. I told her what Kingsley had said, ending with asking her about having an Auror guarding the house. She looked at the floor for a few moments, then shook her head.
'That potion could have been for a mission.'
'It was reported stolen from one of the Ministry's departments, and nothing done in my department requires polyjuice potion. Nothing needs to be done undercover now since all of the death eaters are gone.' Hermione chewed her lip and looked up at me nervously. 'I know that he was one of your best friends, but you need to entertain the idea that he may try to hurt you.'
'I can look after myself.' I gave her a pointed look and she sighed. 'I know I haven't been able to properly since the war, but it's Ron. I'll be fine, Draco.' She kissed my cheek and smiled. 'Can we order pizza for tea?'
'Of course.' I returned her smile, but still felt unsure about her decision concerning Weasley. What the hell was he planning to do?
