Surprises, surprises – Chapter 14.5 part 1
February 15th. It was way too early to be awake. I mean, I fell asleep at what, half three, and I'm awake at half seven! At least we had the day of school. I stayed in my room for as long as I possibly could. That took me to, about, ten – good thing I had a TV in my room, a bathroom connected to my room, and lots to occupy myself with. At ten I, reluctantly, went down stairs.
"Morgan, why are still you in your pyjamas?" dad asked.
"Because I am." I shrugged.
He opened his mouth to say something, but Tad shot him a 'she's tired, don't get on her bad side' look. Dad said nothing, which was about the smartest thing he had done so far since yesterday evening. I sat down on the sofa, next to Olly. Seth and Grace were happily playing.
"So... what were you doing to keep you out so late last night?" I asked.
Dad and Tad looked at each other. The look seemed to say 'I don't wanna talk about it'. I sighed.
"Never mind. I don't think I want to know." I told them.
They seemed to relax, relieved that they didn't have to say anything.
It wasn't long before Owen, Tosh, Aaron, Tommy, Gwen and Anwen appeared. I didn't know they went home. Anwen went directly to Seth and Grace, while Aaron and Tommy were put in their play pen that sat next to the sofa. They obviously didn't want to be in there, so they started reaching for the person closest to them. Me. I sighed, and smiled. I hit Olly on the arm and gestured to the twins. We both got up, and picked up one of the twins. Aaron and Tommy started laughing. It was so cute! Aaron and Tommy sat quietly on Olly and I. Well, when I say quietly, I mean quieter than they would if they were stuck in their play pen. While playing a little with Aaron and Tommy, I overheard the adults talking about what they did the previous night. Gwen and Rhys had gone out to dinner, Owen and Tosh went to a movie and then had dinner, and dad and Tad...well...if I ended up not wanting to know before, I definitely didn't want to know now! I cleared my throat and caught the attention of the five adults.
"You really need to remember how old some of us are, and that we really should over hear some of the things you did." I said, directing it at dad and Tad.
Tad's face went a deep red and looked away, while dad looked straight down at the floor. I sniggered quietly, amused by their reactions, and turned back to the twins.
It was boring just waiting around. It was more fun when Laura was at the hub, since we could talk about a lot of things. That and we could talk easily, with us being on the same intellectual level. Sure, it was fun hanging out with Olly when he wasn't being a dick, and Seth and Grace were fun to run around with, and Aaron and Tommy...well do I even have to explain? I loved the twins, they were so cute! Olly and I went up to the hang out room after a while with Aaron and Tommy, leaving Seth, Grace and Anwen to play down stairs with the adults.
Laura arrived at the hub at three in the afternoon. She looked a bit...shocked; I guess was the best way to put it.
"Three o'clock?" What are you, sick?" I asked from the sofa, as Laura walked into the room.
Laura took Tommy from Olly and he looked relived to finally be released from the small child. He left the room before any more small children could be forced on him, leaving Laura and I alone.
"Oh, no, I'm fine I just, er... well, I was meeting someone." Laura said, as I plopped down onto the other sofa with Tommy in my arms.
"Ohh, 'someone', eh?" I said. "Who is this someone?"
"Hey, little miss 'dirty minded' it wasn't that kind of 'someone'!" Laura said, rolling her eyes at me. "It's my dad! We finally found him! Well, technically your Tad and Owen found him..."
"Pfft, yeah, 'course you did Laura," I scoffed cynically.
"Hey, it's true!" Laura said defensively, "Here, tale my phone. Call him. I dare you."
Laura handed me her phone. Her phone is like her baby... NO ONE touches her phone without her permission.
"Fine!" I said, taking her phone. "But you're going to look like a real dumbarse when you're wrong!"
"When am I ever wrong?" Laura asked me.
"When I'm right!" I said grinning, pressing dial and holding the phone up to her ear.
"Put it on speaker!" Laura urged me.
I sighed irritably, but pressed the speaker phone button on the touch screen and held the phone out. The dial tone rang three more times before someone picked up.
"Hello?" a male voice said.
My eyes widened and I looked up at Laura. I grinned smugly, leaning back with Tommy laying upright on my chest. I adjusted Aaron in my arms slightly.
"Is that... are you really Laura's dad?" I squeaked.
"Yeah, who's thi... you must be Morgan," he replied.
"How do you know my name?" she asked suspiciously.
"Oh Laura, and your Tad," Laura's dad said.
"So you're Annabel's date!" I exclaimed, "Oh, wow, this is so cool!"
"Yeah, Morgan could you put Laura on please?" Laura's dad asked.
"Okay, bye," I said, before handing Laura the phone.
She took it off speakerphone and brought it up to her ear.
"Yeah?" Laura asked.
There was a pause.
"Perfect," Laura told him smiling.
I was confused for a second, before glaring at her after realising her dad and herself had set it up to make me look stupid.
"Was that all you wanted?" Laura asked him as I picked up a random book and flicked to a random page, struggling to turn the pages with Aaron in one arm and the book in the opposite hand.
"Dad, don't worry, I'm fine," I told him, "You don't need to worry about me!"
Another pause.
"I promise," Laura told him seriously.
I really wish I knew what they were talking about.
"Okay, I'll tell him," Laura said grinning, "Bye dad,"
"Okay," I said, "bye," I repeated.
Laura jumped off the sofa, carefully lifting Aaron into the bouncy seat thing that Owen couldn't be arsed to take home last night.
Laura walked out of the Hang out room.
Hey everyone!" I heard Laura yell. "I have two parents now! I HAVE MY DAD BACK!"
I laughed a little at how excited my friend was. But then again, she did just get her dad back, so I guess it was an acceptable reaction.
Things were going to get a whole lot more fun around here.
