Happy New Year to all. This chapter marks the beginning of the 2nd story arc. I shall post some more chapters of my weird story and try to catch up to what I already have done instead of just sitting on them coughcurrentlyworkingonchapter44cough. I'll update as I do a quick proofreading on each.

Pope Silver and Cream stood on a cloud. This cloud floated above the planet they used to call home. It was a golden cloud with a portal above them that connected to the afterworld. This portal is how they got to this cloud. It had been a few days since that event in the Chaotix Republic. Since Pope Silver was a very important disciple, the case of his death had to be reviewed by his god. Cream was wrapped up in it so she was there too. She stood behind his white robe and clutched it firmly. The hedgehog stared at the very bright light in front of them. It was used for communication purposes.

"Pope Silver, your actions on that planet while understandable, broke one of the major rules I have set forth. You are never to take your own life," a very deep, concerned voice said through that portal.

"I'm sorry, but you must understand. It was the only way I could escape."

"I see, but you would not have been in that situation anyway if your heart remained strong in the face of adversity."

He clutched his chest tightly. Cream stared on and never spoke. She didn't know what to say.

"Which is why I beg you to give me another chance to fix this. If you let me return, I promise you I can restore order to my district."

"This sets a precedent. This is the first time a district under our control does not have a suitable leader to take over. We know that a previous member of your fold, Sally Acorn, is attempting to gain the powers necessary for the process."

"Sally is going to try to become a pope?" He couldn't believe his ears. "Is that even possible?"

"It most certainly is if she goes to the correct location on that planet and offers a soul for the power required."

"That isn't needed if you let me return."

"I have talked it over, and the governing body does not trust you anymore to properly carry out your duties. We think that it is best if you are replaced."

Tears formed in his eyes and he fell to his knees. Cream tried his best to comfort him. While she did, she came up with an idea.

"Would it be possible for him to return in order to help Sally become the next pope?"

"Ah, Cream the Rabbit, were you not killed by this man and his reckless actions? Do you hold resentment towards him?"

"No I do not." She looked towards the light and answered without hesitation. "It was my fault. I was the one who got in the way. If my death is influencing your decision in any way, please do not hold that against him."

"Hmm, do you want to return? It is possible for me to send you back."

"I will go back only if Pope Silver comes with me."

He quickly stood and turned to Cream. He grabbed her by the shoulders.

"This is your chance to return," he said sadly. Tears still ran down his face. "Don't pass that up for me. It's my fault everything got out of hand."

"No it's not. Even if it was, you tried your best to correct it. That was enough to know that you really cared and I think you deserve a second chance."

"Is that your wish," the voice asked.

"Yes, I don't go back if Pope Silver can't."

"Here is my ruling. You both will be sent back. While there, Silver the Hedgehog must help Sally Acorn become the next pope of the district and his soul must be offered as the key for her to get her powers. If this does not happen then both Silver the Hedgehog and Cream the Rabbit will be forced to return to the afterlife where they shall remain for all eternity."

"How long do I have," he asked.

"No time limit. If everything goes as planned then you will ascend and Cream the Rabbit will remain. If your soul is not offered for the contract or Sally Acorn dies and a suitable replacement isn't found, you will have failed and you both will return to me."

"I understand." He stood up and bowed sorrowfully. "I accept."

"Very well then. Please note, your magic of purification will be stripped."

At the army outpost, Blaze sat in the meeting room and awaited her guests. They both showed up at the same time and took their seats. Blaze, Rouge, and Charmy were now the leaders of this continent except for Station Square. They had no idea what was going on there and didn't bother. Blaze wanted to see them since it has been a few days since everyone else left. She wanted know the current state of the continent.

"No change at Lavertium," Rouge replied. She leaned back in her chair and rested her legs on the table. "The citizens were shocked when I told them what was going on, but they quickly came to terms with it and continued on as usual."

"Good to hear," Blaze replied. "Charmy, how have you been?"

"The Chaotix Republic has seen a sudden influx of humans from Station Square. Apparently, they are fleeing since their leader is gone. Rumors going around about him being murdered and that the country is in chaos."

"Well, Robotnik is obviously not murdered." Blaze had her hand on her chin. "It sounds like a case of mass-hysteria due to their ruler leaving without saying a word. Has anything bad happened?"

"Nothing bad has happened," Charmy replied. "Everything is holding up pretty well."

"Great. It has only been a few days, but I think we can all do well in their absence." Blaze stood up and looked out of the window. "I wonder how they are doing."

A portal formed over the meeting table. Pope Silver slowly came down out of it. He held Cream. Once they landed on the table, the portal disappeared. The three in the room stared in awe. Rouge sat up and opened her mouth. Charmy did the exact opposite and fell out of his chair. Blaze was completely speechless. She broke out in tears not too long after. Pope Silver got off the table and walked over to her. He held her tightly in his arms. She wailed like a baby.

"Before things can continue, we need to explain," he said. He wiped her eyes for her.

The two took a seat and they told the reason for their second chance at life.

"There's one problem," Rouge said. "You two ended up here, but Pope Silver needs to be with Sally in order to carry out the mission. You need to be with the others, not here."

"Is there any way we can get to the castle," Cream asked.

"There might be a way," Charmy answered. He pulled out a metal pad with a red button in the middle. He pressed it and it expanded. "This machine was created by one of the technology departments in the Chaotix Republic. It's a teleporter. It can send only one person at a time and the teleportation is one way."

"How does it work exactly," Blaze asked.

"This machine is supposed to be special because it can read the thoughts of the person using it and transfer them to the correct location based on their thoughts. Only one was made since the machine was deemed buggy and dangerous. Another won't be made until they come up with a better design." He handed it to Pope Silver. "You can use it whenever you are ready. I can't guarantee it will work, but you don't have anything to lose."

"I will use it, but please let me remain here for a while." He stared at Blaze intently. She stared back at him and smiled brightly.

"The machine can only be used on one person," Cream said.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I know you want to go see all of your friends, but if it is such a problem then why don't you come to the Chaotix Republic with me and stick around until another one of those machines are made?"

"I don't know."

"Come on, Cream. It will be just like old times. Also, I get lonely over there."

"I'll go with you," she said reluctantly.

Charmy didn't notice that and was happy with the response. Cream walked out of the door. Charmy followed, but Rouge grabbed his arm. She took him into the hallway.

"My memory is fuzzy," she said while she floated above his head. "Tell me if this is accurate. The rabbit and that plant girl were both into that smart, cute little fox."

"Right." Charmy didn't understand this conversation.

"You also like the rabbit, don't you?"

"She's a friend of mine. In the past, her older sister used to date Vector before she went away. The two would visit the Chaotix Republic frequently and I would hang out with Cream. It took some time, but we slowly became close friends. Over time, I developed feelings for her, but never said anything because I didn't want to blow our friendship. I'm not taking her to the Chaotix Republic to win her over or anything like that. I'm taking her to cheer her up. I already know what she's thinking. She thinks her chance with Miles is dead. I can tell by the look on her face that she's deeply troubled. I'm hoping that I can get her to smile once again. I don't care if she returns my feelings or not. I just want to be there for her."

"That's sweet. I'm sure you'll get her to come around eventually."

"But Rouge…"

"No buts. I like your speech. I'm sure that's what your brain told you to say, now forget that and tell me what that thing in your chest says."

He lowered his head. "I'm gonna help her forget about Miles and try my best to work my way into her heart."

"There we go. It's for the best if you are successful. We don't want any unnecessary drama when they return, do we?"

"I'll try my best," he said firmly.

"That's what I wanted to hear. I shall drop by to check on you in a few days once I'm done with some events at Lavertium."

"I won't fail." Charmy gave Rouge a soldier's salute and left the building. Rouge left not too long after.

"I didn't expect you to be so receptive upon my return," Pope Silver with Blaze in his arms. "I admit I was a fool."

"You managed to come to your senses and tried your best to correct your mistake. That's good enough for me."

"It's a shame I get another chance at life, but have to give it up so I can be replaced."

"Please stay for one more day."

"I planned on doing so."
