Placed on a Perilous Plane!
"Uuuuuuuuurgh," Natsumi groaned, leaning her head against the back of the seat in front of her.
"What's wrong with you?" Fuyuhiko sighed, turning to his sister.
"Bored," Natsumi replied simply, before raising her head, an idea coming to her. "Can we get food?!"
"Depends on how much money you have," Imp-kun stated from the trio of seats behind them.
Natsumi patted herself down, searching for her wallet.
Only... it wasn't there. She must have left it in her luggage...
"Hey, Fuyuhiko-"
"Don't even think about it," The one-eyed man replied immediately.
"Aw, come on!"
"E-er, Kuzuryuu-san," Mikan timidly rose her hand, only to have Fuyuhiko pull her hand down.
"Don't just give her your money!" Fuyuhiko admonished the nurse. "She's like a vacuum! She'll be hounding you for millions of yen if you just let her!"
"Oh my god, they're holding hands," Natsumi mimed gagging. "Peko, Hajime, get me out of here! They're going to fucking kill me at this rate! I'll be confined to the hospital for years thanks to the unending vomiting fits this scene will give me!"
"...thanks for the lovely mental image," To say that Hajime's words were sarcastic would be the understatement of the century.
"Hajime, please don't give the Young Mistress sass," Peko sighed.
'He seems to get just as much sass in return, though...' Imp-kun noted mentally, keeping out of the family conversation (+ Mikan) to remain an observer. Mostly because it was amusing.
"Mikan, if you just let me punch her, I-"
"I don't care what you're going to offer, I'll offer something even better if you don't punch her!"
"Good job, Mikan! Keep going! You're doing great!" Hajime cheered, glad that someone on the plane was interested in stopping a bloodbath.
"I-I...!" Mikan turned bright pink, accidentally releasing Fuyuhiko.
"What the hell is up with you?" Fuyuhiko raised an eyebrow at the nurse.
"Ohoho, is someone getting jealou-" Natsumi was cut off by an elbow to the chin. "Ow, what the fuck?!"
"You didn't even stop me?!" Fuyuhiko stared at Mikan in disbelief, having grown too used to the idea that Mikan would always be there to stop him from losing his temper.
"Don't worry, she's like this with compliments in general," Imp-kun stated. "She would be just as happy if it was you or me who said it."
"I-I-I...!" Mikan grinned widely, covering up her blushing cheeks with her hands. "I'll be sure to make you proud, Hajime-kun!"
"You already let-" Hajime had to reach across Imp-kun's chest to cover Peko's mouth before she could say anything to upset Mikan.
"I'm already proud of you, Mikan," Hajime said honestly.
"Are you her mom or her crush?!" Natsumi demanded, immediately ruining the moment. "If it's the latter, I'll have you prosecuted for treason!"
"You don't have the legal power to," Peko countered, crushing Natsumi's argument in one strike.
"And who would he even be betraying?" Fuyuhiko stared at Natsumi incredulously, before adding, "If it's you, then Peko owes me-"
"Not me, dumbass! He would be betraying you by stealing your woman!"
'Maybe I should order popcorn...' Imp-kun hid a small smile behind an indifferent facade. This stuff was better than soap operas.
"Uwawawawaaaaaah..." Mikan was still smiling to herself over Hajime's praise.
"I'm curious..." Peko turned to Hajime, dropping her voice to a whisper. "How exactly would she react if she was called... beautiful, by any chance?"
"Try it out," Hajime instructed with a grin. "It'll make her day."
"Tsumiki-san," Peko turned towards the front, raising her voice to address the nurse. "Fuyuhiko thinks you're beautiful."
"S...seriously...?!" Mikan stared at Fuyuhiko excitedly, the two of them bright red. "Do you?"
"I mean... yeah," Fuyuhiko mumbled, averting his eye from the grinning nurse. This earned him a gasp of happiness from Mikan.
Natsumi turned all the way around, awkwardly stabbing her arm between the space between her seat and Fuyuhiko's to reach towards Peko for a high-five. Or a slap. Either way.
Since Peko was on Imp-kun's other side, Hajime had to high-five Natsumi for Peko.
"What the fuck are you doing," Fuyuhiko demanded flatly, all traces of embarrassment gone as he coldly stared his sister down.
"Trying to grope Peko, what does it look like?" Natsumi retorted, rolling her eyes.
"If you wish it, Young Mistress."
"I WASN'T SERIOUS!" Natsumi yelled, quickly pulling her arm out of the gap. "Hajime, make sure she keeps her clothes on, got it?!"
"Yeah, yeah..." Hajime sighed, turning to the swordswoman. "Wait 'till you're in bed to do that."
"What the fuck, Hajime?!" Fuyuhiko would have tried to punch him, if not for the seats separating them. "What are you fucking implying?!"
"She can't go to bed in formal clothes," Hajime retorted simply, gesturing to the kimonos all of them had worn for their parts in the wedding. "We didn't have any time to change."
"Bullshit! That's so obviously bullshit!"
"Fuyuhiko-kun, please don't hurt him..." Mikan mumbled halfheartedly, still preoccupied with the compliment he had (sort of) given her. She wrapped her arms around the Yakuza heir, a bright smile still on her face.
"Oh god, you two are awful," Natsumi groaned, slapping a hand to her forehead. "...Peko. take pictures."
"I don't have my phone," Peko stated.
"Why the fuck would you want pictures?!"
"Excuse me, one bowl of popcorn, please," Imp-kun smiled as he addressed the stewardess. The stewardess nodded, rushing off.
"She wants pictures because she's a pervert," Hajime stated, only avoiding an elbow to the gut because of the barrier of seats between them.
"Hajime, do you want a pay cut?!" Natsumi roared angrily, her hands balling into fists. "Want me to withdraw my part of the deal?!"
"'Gracing me with your presence' does not substitute a proper salary," Hajime countered.
"What...?" Peko stared at Hajime in blank confusion.
"Is that seriously how she 'pays' you?" Fuyuhiko demanded in disbelief.
"No, it's not. She likes-"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP, HAJIME!"
"...Do we want to know?" Fuyuhiko asked cautiously. On one hand, if Hajime and Natsumi were shacking up, he didn't really want to hear the specifics. But on the other hand, if it was something completely innocent that could make Natsumi react like this... there was no way he wasn't going to try to find out to try to tease Natsumi over it.
"I'm sure it'll make great blackmail material," Hajime answered simply.
"Oh my...!" Mikan grinned, clasping her hands together in delight. "Hajime-kun, I'm so happy that you've found a lovely woman like Kuzuryuu-san!"
"You sound like Kotoko," Hajime said with a sigh. "She just really likes it when I play-"
"HAJIME, IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP, I'LL RIP OUT YOUR TONGUE AND DROWN YOU IN LAVA!"
"I must admit, I am curious as well..." Peko confessed.
Imp-kun grinned excitedly as the stewardess handed him his popcorn. The rest of this flight would be gold.
Hiyoko is still grumbling over being forgotten on the other side of the plane, don't worry.
Fun fact: If you're wondering why sometimes the names used to refer to characters in narration changes suddenly, it's usually because the main focus shifts. Even if the story is continually written from a third-person perspective, the thoughts and emotions of one character are usually dominant. If the focus changes from one character to another, so do the names. The narration will use the given name or family name depending on how the dominant character refers to the other characters.
If you want an example, chapter three starts off with a brief bit with the focus on Hajime. He uses given names for everyone, so the narration uses everyone's given names. When Mikan wakes up, the focus shifts to her, and since she uses family names for everyone but Hajime (and herself, since that would just be weird), the narration suddenly starts using everyone's family names.
