Chapter 29! YAY! Only two more chapters until the finale! I wonder whats going to happen next! Read and Review!
Kairi woke up to the smell of a light cologne tickling her nose. She opened her eyes and saw Kyoya's fine neck line and raised her eye level to see his face. He's sleeping soundly, off in his own dream world, making Kairi smile. But the smile soon disappeared when she lifted her head and her neck was in pain. She sat up to grab her neck and rubbed her skin. She imagined when she slept next to a guy the romance would still be there with the sun shining, birds singing, and she would feel so refreshed and in love…commercials had lied to her all this time.
She turned her head and looked at Kyoya's alarm clock, it was 8:23am. Oh god they were late for school.
"Kyoya?" She turned her head back to Kyoya who didn't stir in his sleep. "Kyoya, wake up. We're gonna be late for school." She shook his shoulder and he shifted his body to the side, his back was facing her.
"What is it Kairi?"
"School, we're late for school. It's time to get up."
There was a moment of silence.
"Kairi, it's the weekend…we don't have school."
"Oh…" It was Saturday! They had no school! She just remembered. "Well I'm going to do Tamaki's job before he does it himself, get your ass up."
Kyoya groaned. Though he had to admit, Kairi isn't yelling at his ear to get up or suggesting they did commoner traditions. He sighed and sat up, rubbing his messy bed head.
"Morning sweetie." Kairi teased, only to have Kyoya grunt in response. "Thanks for letting me sleep with you last night by the way. It helped a lot."
"Yeah…don't expect it often…What time is it?"
"Uh..it's near 8:30."
"Your parents are probably worried sick about you, I'll have a car take you home."
"Well aren't you being a gentleman, getting rid of me already."
"Yes especially since I would like to have my bed back."
Kairi giggled and Kyoya smirked, he actually didn't mind the company last night.
"I was so worried about you!" Stephanie wrapped her arms around her daughter, crushing Kairi like a Boa Constructor. Kairi knew her mother was so happy to see her, but at the same time, she was furious.
"Why didn't you call, Kairi? Do you know how worried sick I was about you? I thought you were all alone in that storm last night. I thought you were kidnapped or raped or something! God I could just kill you! But I'm so happy you are home safe." Stephanie hugged her daughter again.
"Alright Stephanie, let her breathe. I'm sure she has a reasonable excuse for this." Kairi's stepfather intersected her hug before Stephanie really did kill her daughter.
"Mom, I'm fine. Really! It's just something happened and I wounded up at Kyoya's."
"Well the main thing is that you're safe and sound now." Shoichi added.
Those words stung Kairi's heart, she had to let this weight off her chest. "I don't think we are."
"What do you mean Kairi?"
Kairi grabbed her phone that was on the table next to the warm tea, she fished out her mother's phone.
"That's my"-
"I stole this from your room mom."
"I was looking for this! But why did you take it?"
"He called."
Kairi looked at her mother…Stephanie eyes widen, she knew who she was talking about. Shoichi looked at both of them, he was confused. "Who is...he?"
Stephanie paid him not mind, but just concentrated on her daughter. "Kairi, why didn't you tell me?"
"Because…I thought I could handle it by myself."
"Stephanie, what"-Shoichi tried to speak but Stephanie still paid him no mind.
"Kairi, you know what he could do! Why do such a stupid thing! You're smarter than that!"
"I just wanted to"-
"No Kairi, I never want you to see him again do you understand me? This is not you fight."
"It is my fight." Kairi responded boldly.
"No its not!"
"Yes it is!"
"Don't you talk back to m"-
"He hurt you mom!" Kairi yelled at her mother. "He hurt you so many times! I didn't understand anything as a child. I just wanted him to stop making you so sad! You don't understand what it's like just to watch you kneel on the ground while he lashed at you. It wasn't fair that I couldn't do anything! I wanted to help! You never asked for help! I was so tired of seeing you being beaten when I know you were being a good person. But why will a daughter just see her mother suffer like this and not do anything!"
Stephanie raised her hand, Kairi thought she was going to strike her so she raised her arms in defense. But instead a force brought her to the body of her mother as she hugged her. Kairi was confused. After a second, Stephanie released Kairi and forced her to look at her.
"Everything I have done…I've done to protect you. I knew what that man was thinking, what men always think when they look at little girls. I put myself in the way between you and him…because I am your mother. He pushed me on the ground, hit me, grabbed me…but it was because I love you. I never wanted to see you get hurt. I'm your mother I'm suppose to protect you."
At that moment, Kairi realized what Hikaru said. Kairi knew…she saw her mother being beaten and abused never asking for help…she knew Hikaru was in her position and saw from her point of view. She finally understood.
"We're going to be fine, Kairi. Do you understand me? We're going to be just fine. He isn't going to harm you. Nor me. Not anymore."
Kairi nodded and Stephanie hugged her daughter.
"I love you."
"I love you too mom." Kairi looked up as her mother stroked her cheek. Kairi smiled, she loved her mother so much. Her eyes wandered to the side and saw Shoichi's shocked face, making her giggle more. Stephanie looked her way and giggled as well, never has she seen that face.
"Alright Shoichi, you deserve the full story."
"Can I tell the part where you hit dad with a lamp?" Kairi asked.
