Chapter Twenty-Nine
Harry
"Harry!" Someone shook my shoulders and slowly I felt myself wake up. "Harry, please, please wake up." It was Edward, he couldn't cry, but his voice still cracked.
I opened my eyes and everything was blurry. "My glasses." I coughed.
"Oh right, right, right." Edward said, there was still panic in his voice, "You're a human with imperfect vision of course you need your glasses, sorry love."
"I'm fine, Edward." I tried to convince him, after the initial shock from being drugged wore off. I really felt fine. "Where's Bella."
"Gone, no trace of her." Edward helped me to my feet. There was something off, but I couldn't place it.
"Well where are the other boys are they-" I started as he led me out the door and back towards the thumping bass of the dance.
"They're fine, everyone is fine." Edward said, his voice was soothing, but it always is.
Back in the dance Edward got two younger students to abandon their chairs with a glance and I sat down in one of them while Edward said, "I'm going to go get you something to drink, you're probably dehydrated. I'll be right back."
While Edward was gone I tried to figure out what was amiss. It was something for sure, I knew that much. Looking around at the dance, nothing looked out of the ordinary. Alice spotted me from across the room and winked one dark eye at me with a smirk.
When Edward came back with the punch he made sure that I drunk the entire thing. "Stop doting me, I'm fine." I said again scanning the crowd in search of one of my brothers so I could tell them what just happened with Bella.
Edward didn't seem to notice. "Wait I should've gotten you water, not juice, that was stupid of me. I'll be right back with some water."
As Edward tried to walk away I grabbed his arm and stood until he faced me, "Edward seriously I'm..." I trailed off, finally figuring out what was wrong.
Edward's green eyes stared back at me, full of worry and concern. I balked, his eyes were green as my own, I've seen his eyes with a lot of variation in color, but those were always between gold and black, never green.
My mind was racing as I let go of his hand and took a step back. Edward's a vampire, the wards on the house never worked on him, some other charms probably wouldn't either.
"This isn't real." I breathed, "This isn't real."
"I am real." Fake-Edward argued, his fake green eyes looked confused, "Harry, I'm real."
"This isn't real." I repeated, "I have to wake up. I need to wake up."
Edward
As Emmett walked over Harry grabbed my attention by patting me on the arm, "I'm going to go get something to drink, do you want anything?"
The joke caught me a bit off guard considering the somber demeanor he had had the rest of the night, "Yeah find me a scotch on the rocks around here." I joked and he grinned at me before walking off.
"Where have you and Harry been hiding?" Emmett asked with urgency in his tone when I met him and Rosalie halfway, "Alice has been looking for you everywhere!"
"Why?" I asked, shoving my hands in my pocket.
"I don't know, she's flipping shit over another vision, you gotta talk to her yourself. She wouldn't give any details to me though, wanted to talk to you first." Emmett shrugged, "She's across the dance floor, Jas was trying to get her to calm down earlier."
I nodded as I hurried through the crowd, insecure and overconfident teenage thoughts running in one ear and out the other as I shoved their owners out of my way.
"Edward!" Alice exclaimed when she saw me, a look of relief was on her face for barely a second before it was replaced with worry, "Where's Harry?"
I pointed my thumb back in the direction from which I came, "He was just getting a drink."
"What?! He's not with you? You don't have him within sight at all times?!" Alice all but shouted. I was shocked and my stomach dropped, and I looked at Jasper for some sort of explanation. Jasper's mind flashed with images of Harry passed out on the floor. I tuned back into Alice to see her yelling at Emmett, "I told you to go find Edward and Harry how could you bring me Edward without Harry!?"
"Alice!" I shouted to grab her attention, "When did you get this vision?"
"In the car on the way here. It's a classroom, I don't know which but they were desks and the tile floor." Alice was rambling but I stopped listening.
"Maybe it hasn't happened yet." I argued, "We're going to be in classrooms all the time in the next couple of weeks. Harry's probably just talking to his brothers. I'll go get him." I tried to play it cool, but I was panicking. Alice showed me her vision again and I felt like I'd vomit for the first time in a century when I saw he was wearing the tie I lent him tonight, "It still might not have happened yet." I growled at her, stalking my way through the dimly lit gym to find Harry.
Instead, I found Blaise sitting with Angela, Ron, and Leah at one of the tables. "Have you all seen Harry?"
"Not since we got here." Ron answered, sitting up straight and taking his arm off of Leah's shoulders. "Why?" He asked.
At the same time Blaise stood, "What's going on?"
I ran a hand through my hair as I looked around the crowded room once again for Harry's messy hair, "Alice had a..." I trailed off as I looked at Angela, "A feeling."
The boy's eyes widened and they stood up, "What feeling?" Ron asked, his hand diving into his pocket and grabbing his wand.
Even without the need to breathe I felt breathless, "She-"
On the other side of the gym there was a flash of red light and screams filled the air. Instantly it seemed like Neville and Draco were by Ron and Blaise's side.
"We need to protect the muggles." Blaise said with a look towards Angela.
At the same time Neville said, "We have to attack now while she's here."
"Bellatrix?" I asked as there was another bright flash of light and screaming, "That's Bellatrix?"
"Probably." Ron said.
A loud cackle filled the air, "I will tear through every muggle here to find your traitorous filth, Draco."
Ron took a deep breath, "That's her. Blaise, you and I will get the-"
"Let's just go!" Neville shouted running towards the direction of the light and screaming.
Embry went to follow, as the other wizards did too, but Leah held him back. "I don't think we can help here."
"What the fuck is going on?!" Seth shouted in confusion, "Why does she want Draco?"
I ignored his outburst and tried to listen out for Harry's thoughts. "Have any of you seen Harry?"
"Harry?" Embry looked distractedly over at the direction Neville had run, "I saw him- Did you see that? Did that light hit Neville?"
"Embry!" I stepped into his line of sight, "Focus! Where did you see Harry?"
"He walked out the gym earlier with Bella." Embry answered, using one hand to shove me aside so he could keep track of Neville.
Without another thought I ran out of the gym, "Harry!" I shouted, running from classroom to classroom.
I saw a door ajar and I bolted towards it to see that it was the classroom where Bella and I had Biology together.
Harry was sprawled on the floor (I registered that Bella was unconscious too but that didn't really matter to me) I ran to my mate's side and sank to my knees. He looked pale, but he was breathing. He was actually muttering somewhat incoherently, all I could make out was, "Real" and "Wake."
"Harry!" I shouted, bringing his head against my knees as I looked over him, "Wake up!"
His bright green eyes shot open and he coughed and sputtered, "Edward?"
"I'm right here." I told him, kissing his forehead and cupping his face in my hands.
To my surprise he bolted upright and slapped my hands away, "Let me see your eyes." He ordered, looking at me suspiciously through his glasses frames. I opened my eyes wide without question and Harry took a deep breath as he stood, "Where are the boys?"
"Bellatrix-" I began, but at the word Harry sprinted out the door, I knew better than to argue or try to make him stay, when he's like this only one thing is on his mind and that's revenge.
I went to follow him out the door but the worst sound that I've heard in all my life filled the air. Harry screamed. As I rounded out the doorway I saw a girl with jet black hair running away out of the corner of my eye, but my main focus was the knife that was buried into Harry's back as he fell to his knees before finally falling forward and collapsing facedown on the ground.
