Idiots

Kanda Yuu is not an idiot nor does he easily trust others. Why then did he act that way towards the young apprentice? Why is he unexpectedly tolerant?

There seems to be no hostility present nor obvious dislike that he often shows towards others.

What is different from that boy?

The obvious reason can be the fact that the boy is actually a girl. People may be fooled by the disguise but not Kanda Yuu.

He may not be the bookish type of smarts like a Bookman apprentice would be but he is smart enough to tell the differences.

The little girl's accent is strangely similar to a certain red head's. Where could she have learned Japanese with that accent if not from the red head himself? Kanda heard enough of Lavi's voice back then to be able to know his accent well.

She is different from the red head but she reminds him of that annoying red head. And he knows with all those dots that she is his apprentice.

The real proof though is the message the red head gave him when they passed each other by days ago.

"Take care of her, Yuu-chan."

"Baka usagi," he muttered to himself with curses.

He didn't even try to run after the red head like before. The situation is now different. Lavi is no longer the Lavi he can chase around with a katana. Lavi is still Lavi but it isn't like before. Lavi is not even around anymore to annoy him.

"Baka usagi," he repeats to himself as he walks towards the cafeteria.

Inside his head, he can hear the snickering from the idiot rabbit.

If it is really like before, they'll be running around the order like immature brats wrecking every place they pass through. They're no longer children though. Lavi is now a Bookman and Kanda a general.

They're not even in the same war any more.

They're no longer comrades.

"You're late," the Japanese says with irritation.

"I'm very sorry, Kanda. It's my fault," Miranda replies frantic.

"Kanda-san, please. You know we're not late," the young girl says.

"Che."

It seems Ian's act of politeness can only go so far. Around Kanda, she acts a bit more like Lia who was a street rat, the kid Lavi picked up.

If she's irritated with Kanda's attitude then she's irritated. No fake smiles of politeness and Kanda's fine with that.

Too much politeness will seem fake anyway with the exception of Zee who seems to be the one who's naturally polite in almost every way. He has no dark side to his personality like Allen but he can be serious if he wants to and smile sincerely when he is happy. It won't be easily seen though due to his mask. And he still remains as a mysterious personality.

"Hurry up. We don't have all day," the Japanese says walking ahead of them towards the station.

Miranda smiles after a fit of nervousness. She follows after with the two kids walking in front of her.

Record of a Bookman's Apprentice, (Month/Day/Year)

Title : Secrets

Number: 06

Eeez or Zee as he calls himself now... I can't understand him. There's something that I can't seem to pinpoint on it but there is something.

He is still himself somehow as I remember him from that one encounter in the train. We hardly even interacted but I feel like he knows Tyki. Just as Momo and Clark reminded me of the hobo due to the cards and get-up... there is a connection I'm not seeing all too clearly right now.

He did change though, partly. His eyes look different. They're still the same shade of grey but the way his eyes look is just different. I don't see the boy who happily observed his friends play. Something happened which is why he isn't with the two adults.

Why is he even here in the order? I didn't think he'd end up being a finder.

Next is Kanda-san or Yuu-chan as Lavi used to call him. He is really grumpy, moody and impatient as the red head describes him. He does have a soft spot for girls. I know he can tell. No need for hints. Kanda-san seems to be the type who has this unbelievable instincts here and there. He knows who not to trust. He knows how to read people even without the training I went through.

Miss Lotto is very frantic and nervous almost all the time. She is very understanding and too kind. She's lucky that it's Kanda-san even if other people say otherwise. She may not be that of an exorcist like Kanda-san/General Kanda but she earns enough of respect from the grumpy Yuu-chan. I guess it has something to do with that kindness not many people have. Well, Kanda-san does show his irritation when her apologies are too much... that's that.

The train ride is so quiet as I write. It's two an hour's journey. It is risky. I shouldn't be writing something like this on the train but I'll be careful and do it less often.

I have a match with me now. It would be too strange to just burn it here and there.

I'll just burn it in the toilet when I'm done and flush down the burnt pieces...

The Portuguese man doesn't know what to say after being led by a young girl into a tavern. They passed through the back door but he can clearly tell that it is no business of entertainment.

The girl in her late teens may admire his looks but she isn't giving him that look that most women give when they mean 'business'. It would seem strange that he even followed the girl but he is a man of whims besides the fact he knows who has sent the girl.

The man follows after the young girl inside the room smelling of smoke and used drugs. The room is pitch black. No lamp is lit. The window is covered by a thick curtain so no eyes can take a peek inside. With the door shut behind him, a thud sounds as the girl suddenly falls to the ground.

The Portuguese man remains calm as he tries looking for the man who called him here.

"I just put her to sleep, Perm-head," says a familiar voice in the darkness.

"Not sleeping with her?" the older man asks.

"You want to?"

"No."

"She sleeps then in the corner."

A dragging sound is heard as the red head puts the unconscious girl in the corner out of the way. There is a bit of a thud when he lets go of her.

Steps move towards the other side where a lamp is lit showing a familiar face and revealing another unconscious girl sprawled out on the bed. Both young women are quite young and pretty but it seems they're not pretty enough for the two gentlemen in the room.

"Done with her?" Tyki asks.

"Not my business today. Just a cover up."

It seems the red head didn't do anything with the two women if not a few kisses before they lost consciousness.

"I'm not sure I want to do business with you, Eyepatch-kun," says the older man still in his place.

"You can take the seat next to you," says the red head ignoring his suggestive statement while taking a seat on the edge of the bed.

The Portuguese man does as said before taking out a cigarette to smoke.

"Can I have one?" the younger asks.

The man observes the read head to see that he is serious about the smoke. He lights his own before handing the red head a cigarette with a questioning look.

"I didn't know you smoke."

"I don't," replies the red head as he lights the tip then smokes.

The red head coughs unused to the sensation.

"Didn't your old man smoke a lot?"

"He smoked a pipe. This is quite different," he replies putting out the cigarette on the stone floor.

"You tried a pipe?"

"Got hit before I even put it into my mouth. Mean old panda."

"What do you want, Eyepatch-kun? You're not the type to make social calls and we aren't exactly 'friends'."

Bookmen don't have friends.

"How is she?" the younger asks.

"Which one?"

"Of course you know a lot of women but you know who I'm talking about, Perm-head."

"Well, you already know the answer to that."

"Your own observation."

"Doing well but I can tell she keeps her distance..."

"That's good," the red head says after the older man finished.

"You wouldn't call me out here just for that. Get to the point, Eyepatch-kun."

It can't be just that.

There really is something weird going on with the younger man. Tyki wonders what it could be.

The red head opens his mouth then closes it as if unsure how to word his thoughts.

"I don't have all night," complains the older man as he throws the used cigarette on the floor before crushing it with the heel of his expensive shoes.

"Look out for her, Perm-head. Make sure she's safe."

"We already had that talk, didn't we? Why repeat them? You seem to be acting strange, Eyepatch-kun."

The red head is quiet for awhile before speaking.

"I'm not going to be around for a long while."
