How goes it, people? Last chapter, JT was introduced and he beat CJ and Leaf in a battle with his Hydreigon after JT made some inappropriate comments. And before that, Owen and Krokorok beat Brooklyn and her Samurott! I can't say anything else at the moment, so let's start the chapter!

The moon was resting in the sky, and billions of stars brightened the dark canvas almost by design. Every star looked like a snowflake in the middle of winter, each differing in size and shape. Some were brighter, and others were dull. Owen was laying down on the hill behind the practice battlefield where he had spent most of his day, and he gazed at the stars above. Snivy was laying a few feet away from her trainer while doing the same thing. After an entire day of training, Snivy needed to take a break, and what better way than laying down and not doing anything?
"Snivy?" Owen called.
The grass snake turned her head to look at the teen.
"Do you think we'll beat Akito this time? We've definitely gotten stronger since the last time we battled, but so has he." Owen sighed while looking at the full moon. "I just have this feeling that we're gonna lose."
"Sni," Snivy replied calmly. She thought there was definitely a chance they could beat Akito, but her mind was more focused on other things.
"Heatmor's definitely battling," Owen said aloud. Snivy flinched at the mentioning of the fire type and turned her head away from Owen, though he didn't notice. "But I can't count on Krokorok. Muk would be a really good choice, too. What do you think?"
"I think you should go with your gut," a familiar voice advised. Owen didn't have to look to know who had just joined him and Snivy, and he began to shake his head.
"If you're here to criticize me for whatever reason, I'm not up for it, Brooklyn."
"That's not why I'm here," the girl responded before laying down next to Owen. "I couldn't take anymore of Fate talking about JT. So what if he asked for her autograph? That guy was a creep!"
"You can say that again," Owen responded. "I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about him." There was a brief moment of silence, but the two teenagers didn't mind it. They simply continued looking at the constellations while relaxing. "I can't believe you two didn't get into a fight. I was getting ready to have to hold you back," Owen told the blonde that was next to him.
"Haha. You're lucky I didn't." Once Brooklyn stopped laughing, she turned to Owen. "By the way, I came by to say thanks for sticking up for me earlier." Owen turned to face the girl next to him and he smiled slightly.
"No problem," he replied, expecting Brooklyn to leave.
"And I'm sorry for being such a jerk to you. I don't know why I acted like that," Brooklyn told Owen quietly while blushing.
"Me too. I guess we just got off to a bad start and that's why we were at each other's throats." Brooklyn nodded at the assumption before sitting up. Owen looked out of the corner of his eye and watched the girl turn to him.
"Why don't we start over?"
"…I'd like that," Owen said after thinking about the proposition.
Brooklyn grinned at the response before clearing her throat. "Hi. I'm Brooklyn Moore."
"Nice to meet you, Brooklyn. My name is Owen Plateau." The two shook hands as if they were meeting for the first time, erasing the sour memories from the recent past. After their restart, Owen and Brooklyn laid back on the ground, but the blonde haired girl was experiencing a strange feeling.
"Why is my stomach in knots right now? I didn't eat anything bad at dinner, and I've felt great these past couple of weeks. This feeling… I've never felt anything like it before," she thought while looking at the stars.
"It's getting late. I'm calling it a night," Owen informed the girl next to him. Both teens stood up and stretched their arms over their heads before yawning tiredly. Once Snivy hopped onto Owen's shoulder, the group of three headed for the Pokemon Center. Before they walked into the building a large explosion occurred to the left of where they had been standing. A wave of people came rushing out of the Pokemon Center and they were all in a frenzy.
"What's going on?" Brooklyn asked, hoping someone would answer. None of the scared trainers did, and they continued screaming in fear of being attacked. After a minute of searching, Owen and Brooklyn found CJ, Fate, and Rebecca at the front of the Pokemon Center.
"There you two are! Where the heck were you?" Fate asked like a worried parent.
"Training," Brooklyn fibbed. Owen shot a puzzled glance at the blonde that was standing next to him, but he went along with the lie that he didn't understand. "Did any of you see what happened?"
"Yeah. Apparently there was a mining accident, but nobody knows what caused it," Rebecca answered. Before anyone could say another word, a second explosion occurred in the exact same spot as the first. The group of five heard everyone in the back of the Pokemon Center screaming in terror, so they decided to take action.
"I say we go check it out," CJ opined. The other four trainers nodded, and they began running towards the explosions.

"Tell us where the fossils are!" the mysterious blonde shouted.
A burly man wearing a cowboy hat and a brown leather vest stood in front of a wall deep underground. Several stones were buried deep within the wall, and he had a stern look on his face.
"Over ma' dead body!" the old man barked back. The blonde and brunette women smirked devilishly at the man before cackling. The two Pokemon standing in front of them peered down at the southern man, who only had one remaining Pokemon. It looked like a large mole, and it had sharp metal claws. The brown Pokemon was panting heavily while hunching over, blatantly showing signs of fatigue.
"If that's what you want," the brunette replied. "Gliscor, use Fire Fang!" A strange purple bat swooped down towards the mole while its mouth was covered in fire, and it bit the heavy Pokemon. The cowboy looked down at his Pokemon as it collapsed from exhaustion, and he bit his tongue worriedly. These were no ordinary trainers that were attacking him. They had managed to take out all of his Pokemon within five minutes with little effort, and they only used one Pokemon each.
"Combusken, use Flamethrower on that idiot!" the blonde shouted to the fire chicken standing in front of her. The Combusken reared back and unleashed a powerful wave of fire at the man standing in front of the wall, but he dove out of the way before he could get hit. He then got back up and stood in front of the fossils again, irritating the two women.
"Like ah said. Yur not gettin' these here fossils."

"That's the place," Fate shouted while pointing at an enormous metal building. Owen looked ahead and noticed the Unova League statues in front of the doors, realizing that the building was the Driftveil City gym. Without saying a word Owen bolted towards the building and a trail of dust followed behind him, leaving everyone else far behind. The teen tried pushing on the large red doors when he arrived at the building, but they were shut tight.
"Heatmor, come on out and use Flame Wheel!" Owen shouted. Heatmor shot out of his Pokeball and covered himself in flames before spinning towards the doors. The fire type slammed into the metal doors, but they didn't open. Heatmor hopped back to Owen and looked at his trainer, waiting for another command. "Use Flame Burst!" Heatmor reared back and hit the doors with a bullet of fire, but the attack did nothing.
"Heat?" Heatmor asked while looking at Owen. The teen shrugged in response while Snivy just looked at the powerful Pokemon in shock. Seeing the fire type not burn the doors down was a shock that she didn't expect to see.
"Owen, what are you doing?" CJ shouted from afar. Owen turned and waited for the four trainers to reach him before answering the question.
"Those doors are locked and Heatmor can't burn through them. I guess it's time to send out the big guns," Owen said to himself before grabbing another Pokeball.
"Hold on. I've got this," Brooklyn announced before Owen could throw the Pokeball in his hand. "Beartic, break the doors down with Strength!" A large bipedal polar bear appeared from the Pokeball Brooklyn had chucked, and it walked over to the red doors. The large animal pressed her paws up against the doors before taking a deep breath. Suddenly, she was shrouded in yellow light, and she slammed her closed paws against the doors. They flew off the hinges instantly, and the ice type began to roar powerfully before returning to her trainer's side.
"Nice!" everyone exclaimed before walking towards the gym. Once they arrived inside, everyone looked around at the empty room. There was a random switch that had a green arrow pointing up and a red arrow pointing down, but that was it. Walking over to the device, Fate read the notice beneath it.
"Maximum of three hundred pounds allowed on the machine. Press the red arrow for a gym battle." Fate turned and looked at the two boys and two girls that were standing around the room before rubbing her chin. "We could send two people down and then the other three could wait for the elevator to come back up," the girl stated.
"That sounds like a good idea," CJ opined, causing Fate to blush. "Who wants to go first?"
"I will," Owen volunteered without hesitation. Snivy looked down at Heatmor as he cheered before nodding at CJ, who looked around at the three girls and waited for another volunteer.
"Why not?" Brooklyn said while returning her Beartic back to its Pokeball. With that, she and Owen stepped onto the elevator and waited for Rebecca to push the red arrow. "You might want to put Heatmor in his Pokeball," the blonde suggested. Owen nodded and zapped the fire type back into his Pokeball before giving Rebecca a thumbs up.
"Be careful, guys. And make sure to send the elevator up as soon as you get off," the youngest girl told the fourteen year olds. Both trainers nodded before Rebecca pushed the switch, and they were suddenly dropped at a terrifying speed.
"Oh my god! We're going to die!" Brooklyn shrieked before grabbing onto Owen, who was also screaming in fear. A few seconds later, the elevator stopped abruptly and a door opened. Owen turned around to see a long walkway, so he stepped off the elevator. Brooklyn followed suit, and the elevator shot back up to the surface. he two teenagers looked around at their surroundings and saw the incredible rocky walls and glowing emeralds.
"Is it just me, or is it hot in here?" Owen asked while fanning himself. Snivy did the same thing, and so did Brooklyn. The group of three began to follow the walkway until they heard screams, which made them break into a run.
"Hit him with a Double Kick!" a voice boomed. The command echoed through the cavernous room, and a man shouted out in pain. The voices became louder and louder as Brooklyn and Owen continued down the walkway before they arrived in another small room that was illuminated by several lights hanging on the top of the walls.
Both teens saw two women in bright yellow uniforms across the square room, which had a battlefield, and they seemed to be attacking something.
"Yur not takin' ma fossils!" the cowboy snapped. Both women looked at each other before rubbing their heads.
"How long is it going to take you to crack?" the brunette screamed before kicking the downed man in the ribs. He immediately coughed up blood and curled into a fetal position.
"Prinplup, get out here and use Whirlpool!" Owen shouted while tossing Prinplup's Pokeball in the air. The blue penguin appeared and hurled an enormous body of spinning water at the two women, who turned around in shock. The water type attack slammed into them and sent the strange women flying into the wall at the other end of the room, leaving the cowboy by himself against the left wall.
"Owen, you idiot," Brooklyn hissed at the boy. "Why didn't you tell me you were going to attack them?" she asked angrily. Owen didn't respond and he ran over to the cowboy's side with Prinplup and Snivy standing in front of them.
"Are you okay, sir?" Owen quizzed. The older man turned to look at Owen and nodded. His face was bloodied and bruised, but he still looked like he was capable of fighting.
"I'm fine, sonny. You and that purtty little thing might want to get out of here. These ain't no normal people," the man told Owen in his thick southern accent, which was tough to understand. "Ah can do this mahself," the man added after Owen helped him onto his feet.
"He's right, kids. Get out of here before we kill you," the blonde women told Owen and Brooklyn as she and her partner stood up with Pokeballs in their hands. "Wait a second… that's the kid the boss wants us to kill!" the women exclaimed while pointing at Owen. Her brunette counterpart eyed the amber eyed trainer before gasping.
"You're right! We can't let him get away. Gliscor, get out here!"
"Combusken, go!" The two women threw their Pokeballs forwards and their powerful Pokemon appeared in front of them. Owen eyed both of his opponents and then his Pokemon. He had a type advantage against Combusken, but Snivy was at a major disadvantage against both Pokemon.
"Snivy, come back here," Owen told his starter. The grass snake hopped onto his shoulder while Prinplup made his way onto the battlefield. Owen then helped the man walk over to the trainer box and placed him up against the wall behind where he would be standing.
"Samurott, it's time to battle!" Brooklyn shouted. Owen looked over at the girl and saw her Samurott appear next to Prinplup, who looked relieved to see an ally. "We're not letting you and your Pokemon die here," Brooklyn told Owen with a confident look. The boy nodded and stepped into the trainer box with Brooklyn while the two women did the same thing.
"Prinplup, use Bubblebeam on Combusken!" Owen commanded while pointing at the Hoenn starter. Prinplup's beak began to glow blue before he fired a cluster of speeding bubbles towards the fire and fighting type. With little effort, the Combusken slashed through the water type attack, but Combusken was eventually hit because of its nonchalant counter.
"Combusken, use Double Kick on Prinplup!" Combusken ran forward after taking a fair amount of damage from the Bubblebeam attack before jumping high in the air. The fire and fighting type then swung its left foot, but Prinplup blocked the kick with his right flipper. Combusken then swung his other foot at Prinplup, but the water type blocked it again.
"Samurott, help Prinplup by using Razor Shell!" Brooklyn ordered. Samurott lunged towards Combusken while ripping the scalchops off his forearms. Trails of blue energy appeared behind the scalchops, and Samurott slashed Combusken across the face. The fire chicken was sent flying back across the battlefield before landing in front of the brunette woman's Gliscor, who had yet to attack.
"Gliscor, use X-Scizzor on Samurott!" Gliscor swiftly flew forward while crossing her arms over each other while her large purple laws began to glow light blue. As Gliscor closed in on Samurott, the blonde woman's Combusken got back on his feet and began sprinting towards the fully evolved water starter.
"Combusken, use Mega Kick on Samurott!" the blonde screamed to her fire type Pokemon. Combusken's foot began to glow bright blue before he jumped in the air to kick Samurott. The four legged otter looked at both of his opponents worriedly because he didn't know which one he should attack, nor did Brooklyn. Luckily for them, Owen and Prinplup acted without hesitation and tried protecting their teammates.
"Block X-Scizzor with Metal Claw! Brooklyn, take care of Combusken!" Owen barked. Prinplup sprung into the air while three silver claws shot out of each of his flippers. He and Gliscor swung at each other at the same time, and their moves collided before battling back and forth in the middle of the battlefield.
"Right! Samurott, use Aqua Jet on Combusken!" Samurott covered his entrée body in water before launching himself at Combusken, who snickered at the attack just like the two women on the other end of the battlefield.
"Spin and hit Prinplup!" Combusken began spinning to his left and managed to avoid Samurott's Aqua Jet in the process. Owen and Brooklyn gasped at the skillful counter before Combusken kicked Prinplup in the back with his glowing blue foot. Prinplup's Metal Claw instantly vanished, leaving him completely defenseless against Gliscor.
"Gliscor, keep hitting Prinplup with X-Scissor!"
"Use Bide!" Owen shouted before Gliscor could act. Prinplup crossed his flippers over his chest just before Gliscor began pummeling him with the powerful bug type attack. Suddenly, a ring of red energy spiraled around Prinplup before he let out a might roar.
"Pluuuup!" The red ring of energy was then flung at Gliscor, and the strange Pokemon with large yellow eyes was blown across the battlefield before collapsing on the ground. Prinplup smirked at his victory before falling on his face and fainting. Owen withdrew the blue penguin as quickly as he could, and the brunette returned her Gliscor back to her Pokeball.
"Combusken, use Slash on Samurott!" Samurott, who had landed on the other half of the battlefield, turned around before being slashed across the face repeatedly by his fire type opponent. Combusken continued the merciless assault while Brooklyn's heart began racing.
"Use Megahorn to knock him away!" Brooklyn belted. Her Samurott's horn began to glow light green, and he lunged forward to jab Combusken in the gut. Much to her dismay, Brooklyn watched as the Combusken batted Samurott's horn into the ground. Because the Megahorn attack was so strong, Samurott's horn cracked through the ground and kept him from moving. "Samurott!" Brooklyn cried to her Pokemon, who desperately tried getting away from Combusken.
"Combusken, use Slash on the girl over there!" the blonde thug demanded after seeing Snivy on Owen's shoulder. Combusken turned his attention to Brooklyn and began sprinting towards her at a breakneck pace. Samurott furiously pulled away from the ground, but was still unable to free his horn. As Combusken lunged forward and reared its arm back to strike Brooklyn, a sudden force pushed her away from the incoming attack.
"Watch out!"
After Brooklyn hit the ground she saw Owen standing in her place with Combusken's claws lodged into his chest. A puddle of blood appeared underneath Owen and he began to cough violently. The fire and fighting type attempted to stab Owen with his other set of claws, but Snivy hopped up from the ground (because she fell off when Owen pushed Brooklyn) and slammed her glowing green tail against Combusken's face. The fire type aaas launched across the battlefield with his eyes shut tight, so his trainer zapped him back into his Pokeball.
Owen's legs instantly gave out after Combusken was hit away, and he collapsed on the ground. The two women looked at one another in shock before the brunette pulled out a strange remote. The blonde pulled out a phone and dialed a number as fast as she could.
"The threat has been exterminated," she stated coldly. Before Brooklyn or Snivy could do anything else, the brunette pressed the button on the remote and the two women in yellow disappeared in a flash of light.
"Owen?" Brooklyn whispered shakily while crawling over to the bleeding teen. She began to shake him, but he didn't move in the slightest.
"Move away!" the southern man ordered as he flew over and knelt beside Owen. Brooklyn backed off immediately and watched as the man turned Owen over. There were three deep wounds in his stomach, and blood was rushing out of all of them. "This ain't good," the man muttered worriedly. He then tore a piece of his jacket off and pressed it against the three holes in order to keep Owen from losing more blood.
"Brooklyn! Owen!" CJ, Fate, and Rebecca came running into the room before gasping when they saw Owen laying on the ground.
"Wh-What happened?" CJ stammered. He turned to Brooklyn, but the girl didn't answer. She stared blankly at the motionless body in front of her, and she looked as pale as a ghost. Snivy was sitting on the ground with a distraught look on her face before she stood up and walked over to her trainer.
"We need to get 'em to a hospital!" the burly southern man boomed as he picked Owen up and began running towards the elevator. Snivy chased after the man while the rest of the group was left sitting in the square room in silence.
"Are you okay, Brooklyn?" Fate inquired while looking for any wounds on her rival's body. The girl nodded slowly before standing up shakily. She stared down the walkway before watching the man step onto the elevator with Snivy. In the blink of an eye, they were gone.
"Let's go after them," Rebecca told the others before running down the walkway. CJ and Fate followed while Brooklyn remained standing in the room. She looked over at the spot that Owen had been standing when he had been stabbed, and she began to cry. Falling to the ground, the blonde continued staring at the spot while her mind replayed Owen pushing her out of the way.
It was all her fault.
Dang, that's some deep stuff. So, the two women from the Castelia sewers reappeared and were looking for some fossils, but settled for killing Owen. Well, he's not actually dead, because that would be the end of the story :P. Now with their newfound friendship, it looks like Owen and Brooklyn aren't going to be fighting anymore… or will they!? Till next time, peace out.
1) Did anyone catch Snivy's new move?
2) Who was that southern dude?
3) Isn't it weird that CJ, Fate, and Rebecca showed up right after the battle ended? Hmm… maybe they're trying to kill Owen, too!
4) Do you like Brooklyn now that she's not a jerk?
