I just want to thank to the guest "Stuff" really quick for the review s/he has been sending me. Idk, I wasn't expecting so many but I really liked them x
And now, another chapter. Yaaay!
Chapter 29
Stay
"Don't forget to do the homework and see you tomorrow morning. Don't be late!" Mrs. Matthews tells us right after we hear the bell.
I pick my books up, throw my pencil case and my C paper in the tote bag and walk over to Mrs. Matthews, who is cleaning the board.
"Excuse me?" I say politely.
"Yes, Beatrice?" She says not looking at me.
"I am well aware that you must have enough work, but I am truly disappointed with my C. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve m-"
"Indeed I have." She says walking over to her desk. "I cannot assign you any paper or report to do. It wouldn't be fair of me to assign you a task to help you improve your grade and not assign it to the others."
I nod at her words. "I can, however, assign it to the whole class, but that is something most of you would dislike, specially at this time of the year."
Nodding once again at her words I say "Yes, I understand. Thank you."
Mrs. Matthews acknowledges me with a nod and I go over to my desk to get the rest of my books when she calls me. I turn to her.
"If I'm not mistaken, you have a brother." She says moving her glasses to the top of her head.
"Y-Yes, yes, I do."
"I thought so. You see, Beatrice, I once knew your father."
"Oh?"
"Yes, yes, Andrew Prior. I was in school with him. Take a seat."
"I'm sorry, but I need to run to the other class." I say.
"Yes, of course. I don't want you to be late. I'll see you tomorrow morning."
I stumble to the table to get my stuff. "Tomorrow morning, of course." I say and leave.
Well, that was awkward. Besides having a weird teacher, I have a weird teacher who knows my father.
.xx.
"She did not say that." Christina says between laughs after I told her was Mrs. Matthews told me.
"She did. I mean, can she say that?"
"I guess." She shrugs. "That was hilarious. I'd die if she told me she knew my father! Are you going home for Thanksgiving?"
"Yea, aren't you?" I ask while stretching the covers on my bed.
"I might. I don't know. Will's sick and last year he spent it here and really liked it and I don't want to leave him here and go home."
"So don't." I say. "Throw me that pillow please."
"I don't know if my father will let me stay." She says and throws the pillow.
"Try. Tell him you'll be staying with me."
"About that..." She says and sits on my freshly made bed. "What if you stay with me?"
I've never spent Thanksgiving away from home and I don't know if this will be the first time.
"I don't know if that's a good idea..." I say.
"I might have heard somewhere that Four is also staying here." She says wiggling her brows.
A smile spreads across my face. Now that I think about it, it would actually be a good idea if I stay.
"Why am I even telling you this? Oh wait, I know why. Because I don't hide things from my best friends!" She yells and throws me my pillow.
I duck right before it hit my face.
"It has been more than a week, Chris! I said I'm sorry!" I laugh.
"I still can't believe you didn't tell me!" She says crossing her arms. "I mean, Four? FOUR?"
"Christina, I told you the story already. As if you'd tell me about Will if I hadn't walked in on you the other time."
"And I would!"
"Of course." I laugh and throw the pillow back at her. She grabs it and places it back on my bed. "Let's go?"
She gets up and puts her shoes on. I pick up my sweater from the floor and we both make our ways to the cafeteria, both of our stomachs growling.
Hour and half later we finally decide to leave the warm cafeteria. The food wasn't that great, but for some unknown reason our conversation tonight was sort of interesting. Either that or we were all making stuff up just so that we could stay in there.
The signs of winter were, unfortunately, starting to show. It wasn't snowing, but it was freezing. Not only outside, but in the inside as well.
Tobias and I walk out of the cafeteria holding hands and so does Zeke and Shauna. Marlene and Uriah had some unnecessary fight so Marlene was chatting with Lynn while Uriah left earlier to keep Will company. On Christinas request, Tobias worked some of his magic with the cafeteria ladies and they allowed him to take a bowl of soup up to the dormitories. Needless to say it was for Will.
While Marlene and Lynn went to the students lounge and Christina made her way to Will's, four of us were left.
"Let's go to the café?" Zeke asks.
Four and Shauna nod and I just stand there wondering where the café is. Eventually, Tobias told me it was outside. I told him I couldn't get out of the school, until Zeke looked at me and said, "We are all eighteen here. Except you. But no one really needs to know that."
With that said, we arrived in the café within 10 minutes.
Zeke bought a pack of cigarettes, what surprised me, since I had no idea he smoked. He offered me one, but I turned it down and Tobias shot him a dirty look.
"Just being polite." Zeke said.
We ended up staying at that café for over an hour and while Tobias and Zeke played darts, Shauna told me the story of how Zeke and her started dating. The first time they kissed was in the beginning of her sophomore year, but they didn't start dating until the beginning of her junior year, since he refused to admit he liked her. When he finally did, she was sort of dating with another boy, but eventually, they ended up together. It was a complicated story, but it was cute.
"Boys, we gotta go!" She shouted. And so we did.
Zeke and Shauna were walking in front of Tobias and I. Shauna was telling Zeke about something while he had his arm around her shoulders.
I was walking on the line that divided the sidewalk and the road while holding hands with Tobias.
"Did you liked the Café?" He asks.
"I did. We have to go back there again." I reply.
"I missed it. I'm glad they hired that brunette woman who cooks at school. Last year the food was horrible, Zeke, Shauna, Lauren, Eric and I ate at that café all the time. Anyways," He says. "Are you going home for Thanksgiving?"
"Don't know yet. I was thinking about staying here, but I need to talk with my parents first." I tell him. "But I don't know if they'll let me stay here all by myself."
"What about your brother?"
"He's going home. He has his 'girlfriend' there." I say making quotation marks with my index and middle finger in the air.
"Shauna and I are staying. We always stay. He is trying to convince his parents." He says pointing to Zeke.
"Let's see how that turns out. What do you do here on holidays, anyways?" I ask.
"Stay here and you'll see." He smirks.
Heyyy! I hope you liked it :3
I don't know when I'll be finishing this story, but I have no idea where this is going, and it's getting pretty long already...
Anywayyyy, don't forget to review. I love reading your reviews *blushes*
