I tried. I really did, but 28 chapters was just too much to change and when I was re-reading the edited version- it made me want to cry it sounded so wrong. So this will be my last two chapters on fanfiction unless I manage to get the admins to finally contact me. There's a link to my petition on my profile as well as a link to Archive of Our Own where I will be continuing to post chapters for this story. I'll also put a link down at the bottom.

Target 29
The next three days and battles could be summed up very easily. Nuisance.
Asari defeated Squalo in the school wing turned tank, both worked together for a moment to defeat the shark though (it almost brought a tear to your eye, if you weren't being sarcastic that is).
This machine called Gola Mosca was cloud guardian for the Varia, however, you had to help charge the dang thing up before the match. The Mosca and Alaude were place in what could be called a large Sumo ring. The battle began, Mosca was ripped in half, and Alaude walked away without another word (meaning, you had just wasted flames on that piece of junk). And seeing as you were the overall judge, you declared that the Sky battle would still be held and the overall winner would be decided by that.
They came, they fought, Giotto nearly completely froze Xanxus. You un-froze Xanxus's sorry ass, knocked their two heads together, and made them come to a truce with each other under pain of you potentially shooting them and ending all your problems. The raging brat accepted his loss, but didn't accept Giotto.
Not your problem.
But through all the battles, you knew one thing. Something was wrong. Neither of these groups was meant for the position of Vongola Decimo. It was like an annoying itch that you could get rid of and that no one else seemed capable of recognizing. Even though you hated the idea, you might have to go find Talbot and ask him his opinion on all of this since that crazy and annoying decrepit old man seemed to always know something (more than what he ever let on, but something).
However the end of the not so epic ring battle led to an Arcobaleno meeting the day after, and even though you claimed the right to not go (seeing as you weren't really an Arcobaleno anyways), you were still forced (read: dragged by Reborn) along.
So again, nuisance.
The meeting was actually very boring. The others were checking up on each other's progress with looking for Checkerface and reporting anything they were willing to say about what might be beneficial to the others.
You were considering your chances of sneaking away, when you perk up a little at a familiar presence and look around.
"What?" Colonello asks. "What is it?"
You don't answer, looking toward the forest edge. From the shadows, the misty white form of Byakuran of all people appears. You raise an eyebrow. "How did and what are you doing here?"
Everyone scans the area, but it is Lal who speaks up. "Who are you talking to?"
You glance at the Arcobaleno, choosing to ignore them in favor of the boy they can't see. "Let me reiterate my question, why do you appear before me in this form?"
The boy smiles that same mischievous smile. "This funny ability came to me a few weeks ago and I've been working on it because there's something I want to show you and you alone."
"And what is that?"
The marshmallow holds up a hand, like one would greet another. "But let me warn you, this ability wasn't meant for you, so you can get seriously hurt. It's a one way trip, once you start you'll have to go all the way until the end. However, there should be information and something else to benefit from if you can make it all the way through without dying."
You consider it for a moment. Injury aside, the deal didn't sound all that bad. "What's the price?"
Byakuran shook his head. "From what I learned from this ability, not only do I owe you something now, but I'm going to continue to owe you in the future. So this is just a way to pay off my current debt. Just don't die."
You grasp the kids hand, releasing sun flames and allowing them to cloak your body. "Don't plan on it just yet, brat."
With an uncomfortable shift, like intense water pressure on all sides, his ability activated. Suddenly, you're assaulted by images and sounds, causing even you to grimace. Intense pressure like you're traveling at incredible speeds (something you think astronauts must feel as their rocket travels through the Earth's gravitational pull) and the depths of the ocean press down, even though you are locked in place. You frown and try to take in as much as you can from everything flashing around you. Tsunayoshi, Tsunayoshi, Tsunayoshi. Everywhere, of all kinds, of all ages. It's easy enough to guess that all of the things you were seeing was parallel words. It would be amazing how many there were if it wasn't for the fact they were currently trying to drown you.
You cough and taste copper. It was incredibly difficult for even someone of your caliber to concentrate on both your flames and the images and sounds. Byakuran wasn't kidding. If you weren't careful, this could very well kill you.
A frown forces its way onto your face as you watch and drink in everything around you. You weren't going to back down, not now. You were gaining quite a lot from this and you had already found a clear pattern.
"Piccolo!" It was faint, but the voice was clearly Reborn.
Your eyes dart to the side and you see the raven and the others run to you.
"To them, you just disappeared," Byakuran explained, a frown accompanying his strained smile.
Reborn reaches toward you, his hand passing through, but a bang like someone had just hit a pot as hard as they could next to your head sounded and suddenly more worlds erupted into view. You grunted, ignoring feeling of blood dripping from your nose. You stop breathing for a moment from the strain when the other Arcobaleno move through your spot and pass through you, opening up new worlds for you to see.
Well if you were going to see all these, you might as well see them all. You focus on your connection through Byakuran and call on all the other brats too.
"JJ! Stop!" Byakuran calls in alarm. "Your body won't be able to handle the pressure!"
"I can go further," you say calmly, even as blood drips from your lips. "You said you wanted to show me, so show me everything."
Tsunayoshi as an emperor, Giotto as a knight, Reborn as a doctor, more and more worlds with so many strange sights The pressure kept increasing and both of you were panting from the effort.
"There's a break where I think we can pull out," the albino says. "Do you want to keep going?"
You shift your linked hands so that your thumbs are hooked with palms pressed together still. "You may be able to fool others, but not me. Don't kill yourself looking for a way out."
Byakuran smirks. "You...really are an interesting person..."
The pressure is too much for either of you to keep speaking as more images, sounds, smells, and sometimes even thoughts press down on you. The pressure pressed down, harder and harder. And then suddenly, it was gone.
Your lungs suck in air gratefully and you barely remain standing. You look up at the tired boy. "You did good kid. You should let that form go and get some rest...If I don't die from this in the next few minutes, I'll come visit you with a thank you basket or something."
Byakuran chuckled tiredly and disappears.
With the boy finally gone, you let go of your illusion, knowing that it wasn't a pretty view. However, you no longer had the energy left to maintain your mist flames. You fall to your hands and knees, holding a hand over your mouth as you cough up more blood. This really wasn't good. You must of been quite a sight; bloody tears tracking down your face, massive nosebleed, not to mention the blood from your ear, and did you mention the blood you just coughed up?
Paints a pretty picture, doesn't it?
"I think...I may..." You pant, "have lost, too much blood...this time..."
"JJ!" Your tired brain recognizes as Fon shouting in alarm, but you're too tired to even raise your head.
"Wait!" Reborn shouts. "Don't go any closer, her barrier is down!"
But even then it's too late since that moron Skull had run out and skidded to a stop too near. You grimace enough for even the idiot of the group to recognize you're in pain. You don't need to see to know that an ugly blackish purple bruise had erupted over your arm. You wouldn't be able to use that hand for a couple of months, period. No amount of healing would help.
Your eyes dart to the side to stare at the leather clad fool, ignoring his gasp. Your barrier was down, and it wasn't difficult to tell that your aura was all over the place- meaning, your pupils of your eyes were probably slits. This usually only happened when you focused your aura to your eyes to track others, but with your abilities rampaging everywhere, it wasn't surprising on your part. You turn your gaze back the ground and close your eyes. Hopefully they wouldn't bother you about that later on.
You cough again. As far as stupid decisions go, this might take the cake, taking into concern the fact that your sun flames don't really work well for the owner. You were never going to hear the end of this one.
You collapse completely, your body spent. "Ah, shit."
You take a deep breath and focus your stubborn sun flames very carefully on your more fatal injuries. When those are taken care of, you stagger to your feet (refusing to subject yourself to crawling in front of those people, your pride won't allow it), stumble to the nearest tree, and slid down so that you're seated leaning against it so that you can focus on rebuilding your barrier against auras. You can already feel the damage from having it down.
You close your eyes once more, ignoring the weight that descends onto your head followed by that smell that only your irritating co-student had.
"Was whatever you just went through worth nearly dying?"
"It came in handy right away… Gave me the answers I needed for a lot of other things..."
"Qiao..." Fon calls out softly from your other side.
"I'm alright," you mumble. "Mind you, I'm never going through that again though. Too annoying."
"Why go through that at all then!" Skull shouts. Ah, crap. What was he in this world again?
"Needed to...Important..." You take a deep breath. "Give me a minute...Disoriented...Gotta recuperate..."
It can't be helped, but you fall asleep- and not that half aware sleep you and Reborn usually go through where you can wake up at any moment, but deep sleep.
You wouldn't be moving in a long while.
From the warmth collected within the bedding and the stiffness of your limbs, you can tell that you've slept about a day and a half. A quick glance of the clock tells you that it's almost time for Tsunayoshi to wake up, and the weight on your shoulder along with the slight dampness tells you that Tsunayoshi is going to be upset with you when he wakes up.
Well damn.
You sigh and sit up, stretching and cracking your neck. As far as upset went, Tsunayoshi wasn't that bad off, meaning he didn't see you covered in blood. Good. But being out of it for so long means he's going to be more attention to you than his schoolwork and training. Bad. You sigh and resign yourself to going with him to school today and following him around everywhere else.
Meanwhile, you still had time to think to yourself without the eyes of anyone else bothering you. From what you gained from viewing all those parallel worlds was that in the majority of them, where Vongola existed, Tsuna was to be one of its bosses- usually the Decimo. That explained that weird feeling you had about the ring battle.
In one world, that felt like it had ties to just about all the other worlds, Tsunayoshi was an only child and started training for the position when he was about thirteen by an infant Reborn. The ring battle that took place between this Tsunayoshi and that Xanxus felt much better, more...right. And, if you weren't mistaken (doubtful that you were), his friends and guardians were the younger siblings of the blond brat's guardians. Also, in that world, Giotto was the Vongola Primo only.
But the key to everything was Tsunayoshi. If Tsuna's light went out...Dammit all, that didn't solve your problem though. This is what Luce and Aria were talking about, but you weren't any closer to solving this problem. You had to give those two idiots some credit, Giotto and Reborn were stubborn.
Luce and Aria came to you because they said that there was something you alone could do, but what? What could one measly person do the change the outcome, the save little Tsu-kun? What could you, and assassin of all people-
… One life… Or maybe… One death…
Would your death be enough to change everything?
