(A.N. It's finally here! Danny vs. Vlad! And I'll have everyone know I finally have the entire story planned out, so I hope I can update a lot faster. Oh, and by the way... You shall all fear the super hoodie that hides Danny's face even when he's lying down!)
Danny POV
There was no time to think. In the blink of an eye, Vlad began charging at me. I loaded my ecto gun, but I couldn't shoot at Vlad before he grabbed me by my throat.
"Oh please, did you really think you could defeat me, boy?" I could hear the pride in his voice. "Now, if you'll excuse me..." He tried to grab my hoodie, but I took him by surprise when I suddenly froze the hand he'd been holding me with. His hand stopped, and he was only able to utter a few words of surprise before I broke free of his grip and jumped backwards. Then, I changed into my ghost half.
"Well, color me surprised, you're a ghost. But, though you may have taken me by surprise just now, you're still weaker than I am." After saying that, he split himself into four and surrounded me. But after having fought him so many times, I knew every single one of his tricks. I also copied myself into four and faced all of his clones. I shot four simultaneous ecto beams at him, but all of his clones made a shield and reflected them away. However, I'd anticipated this, and had already loaded balls of ice bigger than his shields in my hands. I surprised him with these, and hit all of his clones, causing him to absorb them all.
"Smart move, ghost boy. It's almost as if you've battled me before," he said with an evil grin. "If you weren't so set on destroying me I'd love to have you join my company."
"Dream on, Plasmius!" I charged at him, until he suddenly disappeared into thin air. Too late, I realized he was above me, and he knocked me down, followed by one of his ecto beams. I rolled over the ground and bumped into his desk, then quickly stood up and faced him again.
"You're wasting your energy here," Vlad renounced. "Don't you and your little army have better things to do?"
"Actually, yes," I told him. I needed to finish him off quickly. I concentrated, and then, let out all of my ice power at once. My eyes turned ice blue, and ice covered the floor, walls ceilings, Vlad's desk, and even my own body. Seeing this, Vlad started to float as a way not to get captured by my ice, but I wouldn't let that work. I shot a pillar of ice up from the ground just beneath him, and when he dodged made a similar pillar from the wall. I had completely cut off any means of escaping for him. However, he didn't seem to care and kept dodging.
I need to hit him soon. I had exchanged control over my own body temperature for complete control over the room, and the ice had already claimed all of my limbs and my throat, while Vlad was still unscathed. After another short while of trying to hit him without success, I was completely covered with a thin layer of ice from my throat down. My face was completely blue, and I finally had to give up on trying to hit Vlad. Completely worn out from using that much power at once, my eyes slowly closed.
Keeping me from passing out were the echoes of footsteps drawing near.
"It's a shame, really. To think you meet your end in a way like this. There were many things I wanted to ask you, but it seems I'll never get that chance." He changed back into his human form and started studying me.
I now had him exactly where I wanted him.
When I opened my eyes, they were glowing bright green, and I let out a wave of ecto energy, breaking all the ice in the room into a million little crystals, and knocking Vlad unconscious against the wall. I soon fell to my knees and changed back to Danny Fenton. After a short rest, I got up again, and headed over to Vlad's desk. I wanted to open some of his drawers, when my eyes fell onto something I hadn't expected.
"What's this?" I picked up a photo I'd seen before. The picture was of Vlad and... my parents, in their college days. My dad's face wasn't even ripped out or covered or removed in some way. I wanted to put it back, when I suddenly felt a shock running through my body. The only sound I heard before losing consciousness was the breaking of glass.
"Ugh... What happened?" I tried opening my eyes, but the light was so bright I instantly closed them again. I also tried standing up, but I noticed I was tied to some sort of table.
What is this...? I can't... go intangible... These ties are ghost-proof?
"Oh look, he's awake!"
That voice!
"How're you doing V-man? That ghost really did a number on you." I forced my eyes to get accustomed to the bright light and looked around me. I was in some kind of ghost lab, tied to an examination table in the middle of the room. In front of me, there was some sort of bed, and sitting on top of it was Vlad. Next to him stood two people. They were Jack and Maddie Fenton. My parents.
"I'm fine, thanks to your good care Maddie," he told my mother with a smile.
"Do you have any idea why he was attacking you?" Mom asked him. Then, Vlad's eyes met mine.
"Why don't you ask him yourself?" My parents turned over to me. While I was still not sure what to say to them, my dad opened the conversation.
"We can do this the easy way or the hard way, ghost boy. Who are you, what do you want and how did you know about Vlad?" Even though I was in human form, he called me ghost boy. Did they see me change? I judged it was probably best to answer his questions before they'd resort to his so-called 'hard way'.
"I'm Danny Phantom, I'm part of Amity Park's anti-ghost rebel army."
"The rebel army? That's where Jazz is!" My dad interrupted me.
"Is she all right!?" My mom quickly asked.
"She is now. We saved her from the ghost zone's prison two days ago."
"The prison!?" Mom said with a shocking face, which she then buried in dad's chest. "Oh Jack, we didn't even know our daughter was in danger. Imagine what could have happened to her!"
"Don't worry, we won't let anything happen to anyone in our army," I said with a smile in an attempt to cheer her up.
"We're straying from the subject here." Vlad joined the conversation at the worst possible time. Mom regained her posture.
"You're right, V-man," Dad told him. "Alright, tell us where and how you became half-ghost."
"You know about half-ghosts?" I couldn't help but ask them. There was no way my parents would've figured out all that after seeing just one transformation. They were always so sure it was impossible for humans to have ghost powers.
"Of course we know about half-ghosts," Mom answered.
"Stop changing the subject," Vlad interfered again. His eyes turned red. "Just so you know, if Jack and Maddie hadn't insisted on interrogating you I would have reduced you to a pile of ashes by now. You will know the consequences of turning Vlad Plasmius into your enemy."
"Vlad Plasmius?" I looked at my parents, but they didn't look the least bit surprised. "They know your secret?"
"Of course they know. I told them myself after all." He changed into his ghost half. "What I know is how you know."
"I... We... We met! Before the ghost king took over! Don't you remember?" He didn't look very pleased at my maybe-a-little-too-obvious lie. "We fought each other, in your mansion in Wisconsin. Although, at the time I didn't have much experience with my ghost powers and you totally kicked my butt."
"No, I don't remember that. But that still doesn't explain why you'd come here to destroy me."
"And for that, I guess I have to apologize... It seems I was mistaken when I thought you were only fighting the ghost king to take over the ghost zone and the human world." I looked at my parents. "Jazz told me about you. If you're helping him, then his intentions can't be bad."
"How do we know we can trust you?" Even though Vlad said that, he changed back into his human form.
"I'm sorry. I just want to defeat the ghost king, like you." At that moment, I heard a beep. I looked around, and found that it came from my backpack, on a table on the other side of the room. Mom opened my backpack and took out my contact device (the only thing left in my backpack, I dropped the ecto gun Sam gave me during my fight with Vlad).
"Can I take it? It's probably my friends from the army that I came here with." She hesitated for a moment, but then held it to my ear. Even though I'd had a lot of trouble getting to understand how it worked, she immediately knew which buttons to press.
"-llo? -nny? C-ny-ear me?"
"Sam? Is that you? I can't hear you very well."
"Wha-? -can-ar you!"
"Sorry, the ghost proof walls must be interfering with the connection," Mom told me. "Wait a minute." She walked over to some kind of radio, and plugged my contact device in. I could softly hear Sam's voice coming from the radio. Then, after Mom turned up the volume I could hear her loud and clear.
"Danny are you there? Whose voice was that? Danny?"
"Sam, I'm here!" I screamed to the radio.
"Where's here? We're at the fourteenth floor, and it seems nobody's home. You were going on ahead, why aren't you here?"
"I'm... Where are we anyway?" I asked Dad.
"Our secret lab in the basement of the building," he told me with pride.
"I'm in the secret lab in the basement!" I screamed.
"Hey! I didn't say secret for no reason-!"
"The BASEMENT!? How'd you get there!? Why'd you go there!? Weren't you gonna talk to the leader? What's wrong with you!?"
"Sorry, no time to explain! Just get over here!" Before Sam could answer, Mom turned off the radio and took out my contact device. She didn't look very happy.
"You realize you're still our captive?" she asked me. I almost forgot.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I looked from Mom to Dad, Vlad, and to Mom again. They actually seemed very close, as if they were reliving their college days. Even though in my timeline, Mom hates Vlad and Vlad hates Dad, there's not a single sign of that here.
"If yo don't mind, can I ask you one more question, before my friends get here?"
"Depends on the question," Vlad harshly told me.
"Why did you reveal your secret to them?"
"You really want to know?" he said with a stern expression.
"Please."
"Allow me, V-man!" Dad interrupted. "It all started several days after the ghost king's army invaded our world. Maddie and I were down in our lab, working desperately on a weapon strong enough to defeat all of the ghosts, when suddenly our portal opened. I wanted to close it, when a ghost came through, completely battered up. We were getting ready to shoot him, when he suddenly asked for help. Then he fainted and changed into Vladdie! So we waited for him to wake up and-"
"JACK! I never gave you permission to tell that to this KID!" Vlad screamed.
"It turned out Vlad was running away from the ghost king," Mom continued, paying no attention to Vlad. "He told us about his ghost powers, and that he'd had them since the accident twenty years ago. At first, I couldn't believe my ears, but then..."
"Then what?"
"Vlad was a friend in need. We couldn't turn our back on him."
"So you... accepted him?
"Of course!" Dad answered. It all seemed surprisingly logical to me. My parents had accepted me in my timeline, so why wouldn't they accept Vlad here?
Vlad sighed and joined in the conversation. "Maddie and Jack helped me get away from the ghost king, and in exchange I allow them to stay here so they can safely finish their ultimate weapon. It's the only hope left for mankind," he said with a sad expression. It made me feel kinda bad when I thought about how I'd reacted.
"So... how long will it take you to finish that weapon?" I asked them.
