Anyway, here's chapter 29 of A New Awakening.

Chapter 29: Sealed with a Kiss

Lucina was going insane. She was in her bed back at camp, rolling around. It was in the morning and she heard everyone walking and working around the camp. Cynthia wasn't in the tent as she was most likely already doing something else. The only other thing in the tent was Navarre, who was currently resting on the floor.

For the past few days, no matter how hard Lucina tried to distract herself, her thoughts kept falling onto Robin and Ian. Never had her feelings drove her this mad. Lucina started to sympathize with Maribelle now. It was driving her crazy!

Robin or Ian. Ian or Robin.

There were so many great things from both of them. She's known Ian for years. It feels like she's known Robin for years. Both were kind, caring, brave. Ian was always there to help protect Lucina at points where she couldn't protect herself. Robin was there whenever Lucina needed comfort.

This debate was tearing her heart apart. Not only that, but there were also the other fears she was having. What if they didn't actually love her? Especially after everything that happened between her and Robin. What if Robin still secretly hated her? What if he was just trying to take advantage of her, lure into a false sense of security? He was a clever tactician after all.

No! Lucina shouted to herself. That's not Robin. That's not the man I-

Lucina quickly silenced that voice. It was about to say something she wasn't ready to admit yet. Especially because it wasn't true. It couldn't have been true. Those feelings were for Ian. Then again, if that were the case, then perhaps these thoughts wouldn't be eating her up.

"Dammit!" Lucina said out loud, banging her fist on the bed. "Fucking dammit!"

Lucina plopped her head into her pillow and let out a stifled yell. Why was this driving her so crazy?

Deciding that it may be better to not stay isolated in her tent, she got up and left. However, for now at least, she was going to try and avoid Robin and Ian. She didn't want to know what would happen if she saw one of them in this state right now.

She simply walked the camp, pondering what to do. There had to be someone who could help her. Virion? No, her feelings were not sorted out enough for him. Say'ri? Well, Say'ri already said she wasn't the best for that advice. Cynthia? Oh hell no, she would probably blab to someone or Lucina would never hear the end of it. Her father? Oh gods, that would be a suicide attempt.

However, when she thought of her father, Lucina then realized who the perfect person to talk to was: her mother. Lucina didn't think Sumia had any experience with this, but that didn't mean she couldn't offer any good advice. Her mother always did seem to have a way with calming her down after all.

Lucina marched towards her parents tent, praying that Chrom wasn't there as well. She arrived, poked her head in, and sighed in relief. Sumia was there, reading a book, but her father was absent. However, she didn't know how long this would last, so she needed to act fast.

"Mother?" Lucina asked.

Sumia did not answer. She was engrossed in her book, absentmindedly snacking on a plate of crackers as she did.

"Mother?" Lucina said again a little louder, walking into the tent.

"Oh!" Sumia said, jumping a bit. "Oh goodness Lucina, you startled me."

"Sorry." Lucina chuckled a bit.

"It's alright." Sumia smiled. "What's up?"

"I wanted to discuss something with you." said Lucina. "And it's imperative that it stays between us. I don't want people to know about this, especially not father."

"Ok." said Sumia. "What's this all about?"

Lucina took in a breath, pondering what to say.

"Have you…" said Lucina. "Have you ever had feeling for...more than one person?"

"Oh?" Sumia said curiously. "So that's what this is about?"

"Well." said Lucina, going red.

"Hey, don't worry." said Sumia. "I'm not gonna breath a word. And as a matter of fact, I have."

"You...you have?" Lucina asked.

"You think I've been devoted to your father all my life?" Sumia asked.

"Well, I…" said Lucina.

"It was a rhetorical question Lucina." said Sumia. "I've known Chrom since we were little. I remember the days he would sneak out of the castle with Lissa to play with myself, Cordelia, Sully, and Stahl. We always had so much fun together. Chrom and I were close, but I never had feelings for him back then. Things changed though."

"How?" Lucina asked.

"Well, when I was thirteen, I was sent to the Ylissean Knights Academy." said Sumia. "The academy was a boarding school and it was weeks away from the capitol. Cordelia and I went there wanting to be soldiers. Cordelia specifically wanted to be a pegasus knight, I wanted to explore everything and see what I was good at."

"Well it seems like being a pegasus knight was your specialty." said Lucina.

"Not at first it wasn't." Sumia smiled. "I used to be afraid of heights. I only broke through that fear because every night I was at the academy, I would stand on the roof for as long as I could. But anyway, I'm getting off track. Studying at the knight academy takes years. Most don't leave until they're in their early to mid twenties. During that time, I was head over heels for a student there named Arthur."

"Arthur?" Lucina asked.

"Ah, Arthur was SO handsome." Sumia said dreamily. "His bright brown hair, his sleek green eyes, his smooth skin, his muscular body. He was a walking dream. And I wasn't the only one who thought that. I doubt there wasn't a single girl there who wasn't smitten with him. He was an exceptional knight too. Top of his class in terms of combat."

"Sounds like the whole package." said Lucina.

"Yeah." said Sumia. "Took me ages to get his attention. I wasn't exactly unpopular at the academy, but I didn't really fit into any specific clique. The only real friends I had there were Cordelia, a girl named Tonya, a boy named Roger, and another boy named Galas. Eventually, around the time the Shepherds began to form, Arthur finally began to notice me. He asked me out and I said yes. But two things happened that stopped me from taking that relationship further."

"What was that?" Lucina asked.

"Well the first was me realizing I wasn't as attracted to him as much as I thought." said Sumia. "Or at least, the attraction never went any further than his looks. Arthur was nice enough, but he was kind of a twit. Plus, sometimes you just get that feeling that nothing would go further, even if everything went well. And, honestly, everything did. The date was nice and romantic, Arthur was a gentleman, and we both had a good time. But that was it. Nothing more."

"And what was the other thing?" Lucina asked.

"Your father." Sumia smiled. "I almost went on another date with Arthur, just to see if I could still give it a chance. However, my thoughts on that quickly diminished when I saw your father again. Keep in mind, I hadn't seen him in years. I didn't have many chances to visit Ylisse and when I did, I never got to see Chrom. Then one day, he visited the knight academy, looking for potential Shepherds. Cordelia and I were some of the first he asked. Cordelia was gonna join, but Phila wanted her to join the Pegasus Knights instead. I however joined without a second thought."

"But you said you weren't attracted to father when you were young." said Lucina.

"And I wasn't." said Sumia. "But when I saw him again, I was head over heels. There were points where I couldn't breathe. I was even clumsier than ever before when he was around. There were nights where I couldn't sleep thinking about him. And it still makes my heart soar sometimes to think that Chrom felt the same way about me."

"But how did you know?" Lucina asked. "How did you know you were making the right choice?"

"Well, honestly, until it happens, you don't." said Sumia. "It wasn't just moments of happiness and bliss when those thoughts came to mind. I was also scared. Scared that Chrom didn't feel the same way about me. Scared that it was all just a crush and my feelings weren't real. Scared that Chrom would find someone else before I could confess my feelings. But you know what? Everything worked out in the end. I still remember the first time we sat down and had a romantic dinner together. Robin arranged the whole thing."

"Of course he did." Lucina chuckled.

"Naga bless him." said Sumia. "Honestly Lucina, there is no real moment where you know you love someone. At least, not one real moment. Though, I guess if I had to pick a moment, it was definitely the first time Chrom and I kissed. It was so warm, so comforting. From that kiss and many more afterwards, I knew I'd spend the rest of my life with Chrom."

"I'm glad you shared the sentiment." someone said at the entrance to the tent. "I certainly felt that way."

Lucina jumped as she looked over to see Chrom standing in the entrance to the tent, smilingly warmly.

"Chrom!" Sumia said. "How long have you been standing there?"

"Don't worry, I just got here." said Chrom. "I'm guessing this is a mother, daughter moment?"

"Yeah." Lucina said bashfully.

"It's nothing big." Sumia said. "Lucina was just curious how we first met."

"Oh, I see." said Chrom.

Lucina looked at her mother, grateful for the coverup. Sumia gave her a smile and a wink.

"Anyway." said Chrom. "Sumia, Cordelia was looking for you. A few Pegasus Knights from a nearby town have arrived and wanted to join the army. Cordelia was willing to see what they could do and wanted you to help too."

"Sure thing." said Sumia, getting up from the bed. "On my way. Oh, and Lucina…"

When Sumia made it to the entrance of the tent, she turned back to Lucina.

"Make sure you talk to Robin about what we talked about." said Sumia. "I think it would be best for the both of you."

Lucina smiled and nodded. Chrom and Sumia then left as Lucina sat there for a bit, taking in her mother's story. She then frowned in confusion, taking in her mother's parting words. Talk to Robin? Wait, how did she know Robin was one of the people on her mind? Lucina didn't mention Robin's name, did she?

Lucina shook her, deciding that a walk would be best to clear mind. Thanks to her mother, Lucina had a little less to think about. Now it was just narrowing those thoughts down to find a solution.

Robin swung the axe hard, slicing a huge cut in the tree. Chrom then swung his axe on the other side. The two continued to strike the tree, eventually causing it so fall.

"Timber!" Chrom called out.

They got out of the way as the tree landed with a mighty crash. It also managed to knock down another, smaller tree.

"Nice." said Chrom. "Time to start cutting."

Robin nodded as the two of them started to cut the tree down more, turning it into several circled stumps. The stumps would then be rolled back to camp and then chopped up into firewood.

"Firewood duty is both one of my favorite and least favorite duties." said Chrom. "I love it because it gets me away from all of the craziness in camp. I hate it because it's a lot of work."

"Agreed." said Robin.

Robin was not really thinking about that right now. Right now, his mind was on Lucina. Honestly, he couldn't deny it any longer. He really did have feelings for Lucina. The future princess was constantly on his mind nowadays, more than even the visions of Robin's past, which were becoming more frequent now. Robin could now at least remember his mother's face, remember the name of Father Pyramus, remember the image of his village on fire. However, despite these revelations, Robin wasn't thinking about them right now. Right now, his thoughts drifted to Lucina.

Robin heaved a loud sigh, which caught the attention of Chrom.

"What's wrong my friend?" Chrom asked. "You seem rather distracted."

"Nothing." said Robin. "Just...just a little stressed is all."

"Need to talk?" Chrom offered.

"Really, it's nothing." said Robin, trying to give a convincing smile.

This was definitely a matter he did not want to discuss with Chrom, especially while the prince had an axe in his hands. Robin knew how protective he could be with Lissa and sometimes even Sumia, he could only imagine what he would be like with his daughter.

"Robin, please." said Chrom. "I know from experience that it's not good to bottle this stuff up. What's wrong?"

"Heh. You sound Lucina." Robin said. "Really my friend, it's nothing. If it was important enough, I would have already mentioned it to you already."

"I see." said Chrom. "Well, whatever it is, I hope you can find a means to resolve it. I don't want to see my best friend turn into a nervous wreck."

"I doubt I'll go berserk from this particular problem." said Robin. "Though admittedly, that has been bothering me."

"What?" Chrom asked.

"That whole Ignis business." said Robin. "I can't remember anything that happened whenever I go into the state, but it sounds pretty terrifying. I mean, that could be…"

"Could be what?" Chrom asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well." said Robin, not sure he wanted to bring this up. "Well...y'know, in the future…"

"Ah, I see." said Chrom. "Your thinking that in the future, I get killed because you lose control like you've done before."

"We can't act like it isn't a possibility." said Robin.

"I suppose not." said Chrom. "But I trust you Robin. There may never be a point where that power comes into play again. And even if it does, I trust you and the other Shepherds will make sure nobody gets hurt."

"And what if we fail Chrom?" Robin asked. "I don't want to play Grima's advocate here, but we may have to face that fact."

"You haven't failed us yet my friend." said Chrom.

"You know that's not true." Robin said sadly.

"Meaning?" Chrom asked.

Robin wanted to get off this topic, so he decided to continue cutting the tree. Chrom however, still wanted to press the matter.

"Meaning?" Chrom repeated.

"Chrom, I don't want to talk about this anymore." said Robin between strikes.

"Well I don't want whatevers bothering you to continue bothering you." said Chrom. "So do educate me, when have you failed us?"

"When it counted most." said Robin.

"Meaning?" Chrom repeated again.

"You know damn well what it means!" Robin shouted, planting his axe in the tree in frustration.

"Afraid not friend." said Chrom unflinching.

"Are you mocking me or are you that dense?" Robin retorted.

"No need to get defensive." said Chrom. "I'm just trying to help."

"Well maybe I don't need your help." said Robin angrily.

"Robin." said Chrom sadly. "It wasn't your fault."

Robin breathed heavily trying calm down. It seemed like Chrom got the message, so Robin chose his words carefully.

"I want to believe that Chrom." said Robin. "But Emm's life was in my hands. She should still be alive right now."

"I don't disagree." said Chrom. "But-"

"Chrom, just save it please." said Robin. "Look, I'm sorry for my outburst."

"It's fine." said Chrom.

The two friends then continued their work in silence, Robin's thoughts going all over the place. Not only was he now stuck thinking about Emmeryn, but now he wished Lucina was here to give him comfort. He always appreciated when Chrom tried to help, but Lucina always seemed to have the knack for making him feel relaxed.

It was late afternoon and Chrom was exhausted. He plopped down by a root of the Mila Tree and wiped sweat from his brow. It took him and Robin most of the morning and early afternoon to hall the firewood back to the camp and then chop it up. Thankfully, Lon'qu and Gregor helped them store it, otherwise Chrom had a feeling that they'd still be working. Nevertheless, Chrom was beat. Plus, he was worried.

Robin definitely seemed off today. Chrom didn't know if it really was because he felt guilty about Emmeryn, but something was bothering him, unquestionably. And sadly, Robin would not talk to him. Chrom knew he wasn't exactly the best person to discuss personal matters with, but that didn't mean he wasn't willing to listen, especially when it came to people he cared about.

That was one thing that often drove Chrom crazy about Robin: he constantly kept his emotions to himself. Granted, Chrom himself wasn't much better, but he at least didn't keep things bottled too long before trying solve the problem. And often, that caused Chrom to get help from someone else. Robin wasn't like that. Robin constantly bottled up problems and tried to solve them on his own. And when he does seek help, he never lets people know the full extent of his problem until it was too late. Chrom remembered a time during the Plegian War when Robin was trying to formulate a defense for a small village that was being plagued by bandits. Robin slaved over his papers for days without end and his problem would have been solved sooner if he just asked Chrom to lead a few knights to stop the bandits, as Chrom was heading that way anyway to do a patrol. Chrom didn't know what went through Robin's mind half the time, but he hoped that it wouldn't be the death of him.

"Hey big bro!" Chrom heard Lissa's voice call out.

"Hey Lissa." Chrom smiled as she and Owain approached him. "Good day Owain."

"Mighty Uncle." said Owain, bowing dramatically. "Always a pleasure to be in your presence."

"As dramatic as ever." Chrom chuckled.

"Sounds like you've had a long day so far." said Lissa.

"Oh yes." said Chrom.

"Ah, if only my duties did not restrict me." said Owain. "I would have come to your aid right away uncle. The trees would have felt my thunder as I swung the mighty axe and-"

"I appreciate the sentiment Owain." said Chrom. "But it's not like I haven't chopped wood before."

"You're faring better than Robin." said Lissa. "I think he went back to his tent to take a nap."

"I wouldn't blame him." said Chrom. "But I don't think it's just because of chopping wood."

"What do you mean?" Lissa asked.

"Something's upsetting him." said Chrom. "He seemed kinda out of it earlier. I tried to figure out what it was and he claimed it was because he felt responsible for Emm. I'm not sure if that's what's bothering him now, but I have a feeling it's still something he feels miserable about."

"But Emm wasn't his fault." said Lissa.

"That's what I told him." said Chrom.

"No one could have stopped it." said Owain. "At least, that's what Lucina told me."

"I wish we could." said Chrom. "But I guess her staying alive was never meant to be."

"I guess so." Lissa said.

"Cheer up mother. You too uncle." said Owain. "We may not have been able to save Aunt Emmeryn, but we will save the world. Especially since you have I, Owain Dark, on your side!"

Owain then took a dramatic pose, causing Chrom to smirk and shake his head.

"With that enthusiasm, how can we lose?" Chrom asked.

"Hee, hee." Lissa laughed.

"Lord Chrom." said a soldier coming up to him with a package.

"What is it soldier?" Chrom asked.

"This package came for you." said the soldier. "It's from Proma."

"Really?" Chrom asked.

He then took the package. It was slightly heavy. When the package shifted, Chrom heard the clanging of metal. He opened the package and looked eagerly inside.

Inside the package was beautiful, silver armor. It gleamed in the sunlight as Chrom put it down and began taking it out. There was a chest piece, arm pieces, leg braces, even a new shoulder shield for him. There was also a note inside. Chrom took it and read it.

Dear Chrom,

I hope this armor suits you. I noticed you seemed to lack some, so If figured you might find use for it. The armor is very special, as it's made of a rare, light metal. It's very strong and durable, but it won't significantly decrease your agility. This armor was my great uncle's. He was the only member of my mother's family that ever showed me kindness, as he often came to visit us and even provided my parents food and money when they were first exiled. I hope that it suits you well and I hope that you can keep it in one piece. Use it well.

Yours sincerely,

Horace.

"What magnificent armor." said Owain.

"It's beautiful!" said Lissa.

""It is." said Chrom. "Horace, the dynast of Proma, sent it."

"Most generous of him." said Owain.

"I agree." said Chrom. "I better try it on."

"Oh, why do you get the cool stuff?" Lissa pouted.

"Cause I'm the prince, princess." Chrom said snarkily.

He then tried on one of the gauntlets. It fit perfectly, like it was made for him.

"First Lucina gets a shield, now I get armor." said Chrom. "Wonder what we'll get next?"

"Hopefully something cool for me." said Lissa.

"Heh. We'll see." Chrom smirked.

Chrom then took the rest of his new armor away, eager to try it on.

Lucina had taken a nice, quiet walk around camp. She had hoped it would help clear her head a bit. Unfortunately, it did not. She was now hiding within some of the roots of the Mila Tree, trying to gather herself. However, everything seemed to be getting worse.

At first her mother's words helped out. Sumia's story gave Lucina some perspective and a new way of looking at the situation. Unfortunately, as a result, more questions began to form. What if Robin or Ian didn't love her? What if she was just imagining things? Why would they? What would happen if she chose one over the other? Would she make the right choice the first time? Who should she talk too first?

Lucina growled in frustration. She had to calm down, she had to collect herself. But what would it take?

Make sure you talk to Robin about what we talked about. Sumia'a voice echoed. I think it would be best for the both of you.

At first, Lucina thought it best to talk to Robin about her feelings for him. But then again, they hadn't really known each other as long as she has known Ian. There couldn't have been enough time to have a real connection. Then again, there could be more time.

But she didn't want to break Ian's heart either. He meant so much to her. And as of now, she would be very happy to be with him. Even so, she would be happy with Robin.

Lucina rubbed her eyes, trying to find a way to get an answer. Fortunately for her, an answer appeared to her right.

"Hey Lucina." said Ian, who had just approached her.

"Oh, hello Ian." said Lucina. "What's up?"

"Well, I was worried about you." Ian said. "You kinda disappeared today."

"I kinda had to disappear today." said Lucina.

"Is everything ok?" Ian asked.

"Sort of." Lucina sighed. "Just have a lot on my mind."

"Well, I may have something to cheer you up." Ian smiled.

"Oh?" Lucina asked. "What's that?"

"Well." Ian shrugged casually.

Lucina knew that shrug. Ian was one of the most confident people she knew and he usually only gave that shrug when he was about to say something big, something he knew he would get.

"Ian, what is it?" Lucina asked.

"Let's see." said Ian. "First, let me help you up. I think you'll want to stand for this."

Lucina nodded as Ian offered his hand. He pulled her up but did not let go. Lucina could already feel a strange sense of oddness in the air. She especially saw this in Ian's face, as he seemed to be smilingly more cheekily than usual.

"So, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately." said Ian. "About us."

"About...us?" Lucina asked nervously, wondering if this was going where she thought it was going.

"Yeah." said Ian. "You know me, I'm always striving to be the best I can be. I try to get the best fighting style, the best looks, the best allies. But they are nothing compared to one thing that makes me the best that I can."

"And...what is that?" Lucina inquired.

"You of course." Ian smiled.

"M-me?" Lucina asked, her mind and heart racing.

"What can I say." Ian said. "We've been through so much together. And I'd love to go through more together. But just to show that I'm sincere."

Then, without warning, Ian took Lucina in his arms and kissed her. Lucina had never kissed anyone before and found it wonderful. Her breath in his, the soft skin of lips pressing against hers. It was passionate. It was sweet. But above all, it was…

Lucina moved her hands to Ian's chest as they continued to kiss. Then, with one swift motion, she pushed him off and stepped back a bit, putting a gap between them.

The two stood in silence, staring at each other in shock.

"Lucina?" Ian asked, his voice completely devoid of confidence.

"I...I…" Lucina muttered.

She couldn't believe it. A little voice in her head was screaming "What are you doing? This is your dream come true!" And it was true. Lucina often dreamed of this day, the day where Ian admitted he loved her, the day where they could finally share a kiss. And, for the most part, the kiss itself felt wonderful. However, there was one other feeling that caused Lucina to push him back. The kiss felt…

Wrong. Everything about just felt wrong. Lucina didn't know why, but there was no question. Nothing felt right, nothing made sense about that kiss.

"Ian. I'm sorry." said Lucina.

Ian regained himself, his face forming a smile again. Lucina didn't know how sincere this smile was though, especially after what just happened.

"Hey, it's alright." said Ian. "I suppose I came on a little strong, didn't did?"

"I...I suppose." said Lucina.

"Well, it's ok." Ian smiled, holding on to Lucina's shoulders. "I'll give you some space. Once you're ready, we'll talk and figure out the next step."

"Nex-next step?" Lucina asked nervously.

"Yup." Ian smiled. "Until then."

Ian then took her hand, kissed it, and then left her.

Lucina simply stood there in shock, her heart racing like a horse. She didn't understand. Her dream finally came true and yet she pulled back. But why?

Robin yawned as he looked over a piece of paper, scratching Navarre's ear as he did. It was late at night and he was doing some paperwork he had put off for the day. As he was doing this, Navarre walked into his tent and proceeded to rest on his lap. It was nice to have him there, as he was very warm and comfortable. The cat purred, sending a little vibration on Robin's lap and stomach.

Robin took his hand away and finished signing off the last piece of parchment. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the clock. It was eleven thirty. Robin was tired, but not quite ready to go to bed. He then decided that perhaps a little drink might help him out. Thinking there might something for a nightcap in the mess tent, he picked up Navarre, put the cat on his desk, then got up. The cat meowed in response, as if to say "Why'd you do that?"

"Sorry little guy." said Robin, rubbing the cats head. "Just need something to relax."

Robin then walked out the tent, Navarre trotting behind him. Robin walked to the mess tent and walked in. To his surprise, someone was there, sitting alone at one of the tables.

Lucina sat there, head on her hand, lost in thought. Robin couldn't read her expression, but she didn't seem to be in a good mood. Navarre gave a loud meow and leapt onto the table Lucina was on. Lucina looked at the cat, gave a small smile and began patting him.

"Hey buddy." said Lucina quietly to Navarre.

"Um, hey." said Robin awkwardly.

Lucina jumped, not realizing someone else was in the room. Robin could feel butterflies forming in his stomach as Lucina looked at him.

"Robin." said Lucina. "When did you get here?"

"Just now." said Robin. "Is everything ok?"

"Not really." Lucina sighed. "I've had a...crazy day."

"Well, I came for a nightcap if you care to partake." said Robin, walking up to the bar in the mess tent.

"Your looking for a hat in the mess tent?" Lucina asked.

"No, not that kind of nightcap." said Robin, taking out a couple glasses. "A hot or alcoholic drink before going to bed is also called a nightcap."

"Ah, I see." said Lucina.

"So, would you like some?" Robin asked, taking out a full bottle of scotch.

"Oh, what the hell." said Lucina.

Robin took the glasses and the scotch, sat down across from Lucina, and poured them each a drink. Lucina downed the drink in one gulp as Navarre leapt off the table and nestled on the bench next to Lucina. Lucina then grabbed the scotch and poured another helping.

"Yikes." said Robin, who hadn't even finished his first drink. "Must've been a rough day."

"Yeah, sorry." Lucina sighed.

"Do you want to talk?" Robin asked. "Drinking it away won't help."

"I know." Lucina sighed. "I'm...just not sure your the right person to talk too."

"It can't be that bad." said Robin. "What, you get rejected or something?"

Lucina ducked her head slightly and Robin realized he must have hit the nail on the head.

"Oh." said Robin. "Oh geez. Lucina, I'm sorry."

"That's not exactly what happened." said Lucina, not looking at Robin. "I didn't get rejected. It was more me doing the rejecting. Well, sort of."

"Ok?" Robin asked, the butterflies in his stomach fluttering madly.

"Well." said Lucina, taking a small sip of the scotch. "I'm not sure you noticed, but I'm rather taken with Ian."

"Yeah, I connected the dots." said Robin.

"Well." said Lucina. "Today, he admitted that he had feelings for me. Then, before I knew it, he kissed me."

Robin could feel the butterflies in his stomach all drop dead at this.

"Oh." said Robin. "Well, congrats."

"No, not congrats." said Lucina. "I mean, the kiss was nice. It was my first kiss. But it felt…"

"Felt...like what?" Robin asked.

"Wrong." said Lucina. "I felt nothing. Like all of my dreams, all of the things I imagined being with him got shattered."

Nevermind, the butterflies were fine. It seemed they had only been stunned.

"I don't understand." said Lucina.

"Well, it happens sometimes." said Robin. "Perhaps your feelings for Ian were real, but maybe not what you thought they were."

"How do you mean?" Lucina asked.

"Well." Robin chuckled, rubbing his head. "It's happened to Virion a few times. In fact, he nearly married a girl in Ylisse named Nia."

"He did?" Lucina asked. "What happened?"

"Well, the two grew quite close." said Robin. "Hell, I still think they're friends. However, when he finally made a move, he found that he just didn't have that strong enough feelings for her."

"I see." said Lucina.

"I think your feelings about Ian are true Lucina." said Robin. "They just may not be what you thought they were. Or, maybe you just don't feel ready to enter that stage yet."

"Maybe." Lucina said. "I just don't know Robin. I've...I've never felt these feelings before."

"It'll all work out Lucina." said Robin. "I know it will. Just know, no matter what happens next, you'll sort this out be and happier than you've ever been before."

"Thank you Robin." Lucina smiled, finally looking at him.

Robin smiled, gently patting her hand. He then realized that he was holding Lucina's hand with his own two hands. Robin didn't know when he grabbed it or long he had been holding it and seemed Lucina wasn't aware of it either until just now. Embarrassed, Robin moved his hands away awkwardly, only for Lucina to snatch his right wrist. Neither moved as they each stared at what was going on. Lucina then slowly lowered his hand to the table so it was sitting on top of hers. Robin found himself rubbing and holding it. The butterflies in his stomach fluttered even more rapidly than before, his body feeling warmer as he did. The feeling of her hand in his was one of the most wonderful sensations he had ever felt and he didn't want to let go.

Suddenly, the two of them heard voices approaching the mess tent. They ended their embrace as the tent flaps opened and Basilio and Flavia walked in.

"Well, seems we're having a late night party." Flavia smiled. "Complete with booze."

"We've had a long day." said Robin. "Thought it would be nice to have a little drink before bed."

"Yeah." said Lucina quietly. "Long day."

"Well, you've got the right idea." Basilio smiled. "Only the wrong drink. What you should try is some good old Feroxi moonshine, or the Nip and Tuck as we call it."

"Nip and Tuck?" Robin asked.

"Sure, just one nip and it tucks you right in." Basilio laughed, searching the bar. "Now I know I put a bottle of it here somewhere. Made some not too long ago."

"What's keeping you guys up?" Robin asked.

"Eh, didn't feel like sleeping yet." said Flavia. "Figured we'd have a few game of cards before turning in. Welcome to join us."

"I think I'll pass tonight." said Lucina. "I'm about ready to get to bed. Goodnight everyone. Thank you for the...for the company Robin."

"My pleasure." said Robin.

Lucina then walked out of the tent, Navarre silently walking behind her.

"She seems a little off." said Flavia. "Everything ok?"

"More or less." said Robin.

"Well, her loss for missing out on some of this stuff." said Basilio, taking out a bottle of clear liquid. "Still, scotch is a good choice too. Have a sniff Robin."

Basilio opened the bottle and Robin sniffed it. He cringed a bit, as it was a very heavy odor of alcohol.

"I think I'm getting buzzed from the smell." Robin said.

"Ha, ha." said Flavia. "Strong stuff to be sure. Perfect for a Feroxi."

"Damn straight." said Basilio, pouring them each a helping. "Enjoy."

They all toasted and downed the liquid. It tasted pretty good, but boy it was strong. Robin choked a bit from all the alcohol, causing both khans to chuckle.

"Takes some getting used to." said Basilio. "Anyway, care to join us for some cards."

"Maybe a few games." said Robin.

He then spent some time with Basilio and Flavia. During this time, he wished Lucina was there. It was a sort of fleeting moment, but he wanted that moment of holding her hand to last forever.

"I'm...I'm not so sure about this." said Noire nervously.

"Come now." said Helena. "This is your chance for revenge. If I were you, would take it without a second thought."

It was late at night and Helena organized a group of Duminion warriors to follow her. She decided to do some late night night hunting and her prey: Drekkam. She had heard all about this spawn of Grima and thought it would be a beneficial idea to destroy him. If that happened, not only would the camp be safe, but Prince Chrom would practically be drooling for her attention. She giggled at the thought, elated at her little plan.

"But what if it doesn't work?" Noire asked.

"It'll work." smiled Helena. "Nothing gets past my precious little trinkets."

Noire had decided to join them, which Helena was fine with. She needed an archer for this to work after all and Noire was a pretty decent one.

Right now they were following a little blue shining beetle. This beetle was a machine made by Helena that could track huge amounts of dark magic. Since this Drekkam was composed of dark magic, the beetle should easily be able to sniff him out.

"I am a little hesitant myself milady." said Damos.

"As long as you use the weapons I gave you, you'll be fine." said Helena.

They continued to walk for a bit before the beetle finally stopped, resting on a tree near a clearing. Helena peered into the clearing. Moonlight shone down on it. It was at the edge of large rock formation. Trees surrounded the area. And in the center of it, someone was sitting down in meditation.

"Is that him?" Helen asked Noire quietly.

Noire silently went up to Helena and peered through.

"I...I think so." said Noire.

"Then let's begin." said Helena.

Noire nodded and then pulled out a golden colored arrow from her quiver.

"Are you sure this arrow will work?" Noire whispered.

"Without question." said Helena. "It's laced with light magic, which you said hurts him. Not only that, but I've put a potion on the tip that may help us."

"Ok." said Noire nervously.

Noire then drew back her bowstring, preparing to fire. However, she seemed hesitant.

"What's wrong?" Helena asked.

"This doesn't feel right." said Noire. "This seems too easy."

"Just take the shot." said Helena. "We might not have a lot of time before he notices."

"But that's just it." Noire whispered. "He should have noticed by now."

"I agree with her." said Damos. "Something is wrong."

"Just take the shot." Helena hissed.

Noire hesitated for a bit more. Eventually, she seemed to get her courage, aimed the bow, and fired the arrow. Helena watched the arrow whizz towards Drekkam, happy to see that it would land right between his eyes. Or at least, it would have, if Drekkam hadn't swiftly moved his hand and caught the arrow. Drekkam's eyes opened and he smiled wickedly as the arrow burned his fingers.

"I was wondering when you all would shut up and take the shot." said Drekkam.

"Noire, another one, quick." said Helena.

Without a second thought, Noire notched another arrow, ready to fire.

"Soldiers, formation!" said Damos, pulling out his dagger, which was now laced with Helena's light magic.

The other Duminion soldiers nodded and surrounded Drekkam. Drekkam snapped his fingers and a rapier appeared. He grabbed it and took his battle stance, ready to fight.

"So, do who do I owe the pleasure of killing today?" Drekkam asked.

"You stand before Helena." sad Helena, coming out of the shadows. "Daughter to Gisela, dynast of Duminion, city of the Duma Faithful."

"The Duma Faithful!" Drekkam exclaimed happily. "Thought you guys died out ages ago. Excellent. Been awhile since I got to watch some of your people die. I'm gonna enjoy this."

"Not as much as I will enjoy this." said Helena.

Helena then lifted her hands and golden lightning shot out of it. Drekkam countered with his own spell, shooting dark lightning from his hands. The spells clashed in midair. Sparks shot out everywhere. Helena was strong, but Drekkam's spell was pushing her away. It was taking a lot out of her just to keep up.

"Noire, NOW!" Helena screamed.

Swiftly, Noire came out of the shadows, rolled to Helena's right, and shot another golden arrow. This time, it hit it's mark. It hit Drekkam right in the shoulder. The Collector grunted as he stopped his spell, stumbling back. He then looked over to Noire.

"So." said Drekkam, a hint of pain in his voice. "Come to avenge your precious Yarne?"

Noire quickly got another arrow and shot Drekkam again. This one hit him in the chest. Helena watched as the arrows began to take effect. It was working like a charm, as veins of light magic began spreading all over Drekkam. He was starting to get sluggish too, as he began stumbling around like a drugged animal, groaning in pain.

"Attack!" Damos shouted.

They all pulled out their daggers and surrounded Drekkam. They then began stabbing the living daylights out of him. All that could be heard now was the slicing of silver to flesh and the screams of pain coming from Drekkam.

Eventually, a Duminion soldier kicked Drekkam out of the circle. He tried to get up, but Damos beat him back. Drekkam landed in front of the rock formation, panting in exhaustion.

"Stand aside." Helena shouted.

The soldiers then got into two lines, making a pathway for Helena. To say that she was pleased with her work was an understatement. The creation of Grima was lying against the rock formation, pitifully panting in agony as his body continued to surge from the light magic in his body.

"Sad, isn't it?" Helena asked smugly, zapping Drekkam with more golden lightning. "Seeing your life going to end like this."

Drekkam said nothing, simply panting in pain as Helena got closer, Noire silently looking behind her. Helena held out her hand and a soldier gave her his dagger. She then got close to Drekkam, readying her dagger.

"Any last words?" Helena asked.

Drekkam still said nothing as Helena raised her dagger. Then, all of sudden, there was a yell and Helena found herself being lifted into the air, the dagger dropped from her hands. She clutched her throat, as there was a strange, out of breath feeling, like she was being choked. She moved her eyes around and saw that everyone was being lifted from the ground as well.

Below her, someone was laughing. She looked down to see Drekkam on his knees, both arms lifted in the air like he was carrying something. To her horror, she also saw the veins of light magic fading away as Drekkam's body restored itself. Drekkam then let down his hands and everyone fell back to the ground. Helena quickly stood up as Drekkam lifted his head, cracking his neck.

"Your creative, I'll give you that." said Drekkam. "But you'll need an armies worth of those arrows and daggers to get a divine weapon strong enough to kill me."

Drekkam then got up and grabbed one of the daggers on the ground. He then lifted up a Duminion soldier close to him and sliced the soldier's throat.

"Retreat!" Damos sounded out. "Everyone, retreat!"

The soldiers began to get up and scramble towards the woods. Drekkam would not let them escape easily though. He began shooting thoron bolts and daggers all over the place. Some missed, but most hit their mark, killing whoever it hit.

"Milady, we have to leave." said Damos, approaching Helena and grabbing her shoulder. "NOW!"

"I...I…" said Helena, fear overwhelming her.

Drekkam continued his onslaught as another golden arrow whizzed past him. Both Drekkam and Helena looked towards the direction of the arrow as Noire notched another one.

"YOU WILL PAY IN BLOOD!" Noire roared. "YOU WILL DIE HERE!"

"Noire, RUN!" Helena screamed.

Too late. Drekkam raised his hand and shot her with a burst of red light. Noire was no more. Instead, a small wooden statue of the archer took her place. Drekkam then turned to Helena and Damos.

"Milday, let's go!" said Damos.

The two then ran as fast as they could, not daring to look back.

Authors Note: Guys...Next chapter is it. Next chapter, the big ship of my story finally sets sail. That's not to say the conflict is resolved between Lucina and Ian. That will still come into play. But next chapter...next chapter is the one I've been most anxious to write, one of the ones I've been waiting for since I started this story. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, as I'm excited for what comes next. Chapter 30 coming soon.
