Of Eyes And Fangs

Chapter twenty nine

He hadn't considered the fact that Kagome wouldn't be able to magically dress herself. No, the thought hadn't even crossed his mind. So when the girl pulled out the light blue kosode and peered at him expectantly through her bangs, he was at a loss of what to do. She was the one that remained silent this time and he let out a frustrated puff of air through his nose before scooping her up. She protested then and Hiei did roll his eyes for once. The girl was being difficult.

And so he felt pressured into changing the way he carried her, unless he wanted his ears grated on by her unwilling grumbling. The apparition swiftly placed the child on his back, stiffly removing her arms when they wound around his neck and placed them on his shoulders instead. She understood promptly and gripped the fire demon's shoulders for all she was worth when he began running.

It took a few seconds for the girl to remove her face from where she'd burried it (the back of his neck, unfortunately). But when she did...

"Sugoooi~! Kuro-ta, um... Hiei-san!" The way she barely even faltered after stumbling over the name was endearing. Just not to him. No, not at all. "Where are we going?" She sputtered as the wind blew her hair into her face. Hiei smirked, "To someone who can teach you how to dress yourself."

"I know how to put on my clothes!" She declared, making him snort derisively in disbelief.

His mouth was fighting to curl into a sarcastic smile. "Do you?" He asked teasingl- no, mockingly. He asked mockingly.

Kagome was silent for a moment before finally confiding, "Just not the fancy kimono and stuff." He'd already guessed that.
