Caspian kissed Lucy until he was sure he had memorized what she tasted like; he traced himself on her until he knew he would not forget how she felt. And then they walked back through the forest, and it felt to Lucy just as it had when she had surfaced in the sea so long ago. Her body returned to Narnia born from the ocean, and, as silly as it sounded, her heart returned to Narnia sprung from the trees. Being pulled from the water by Caspian had felt like waking up, and walking with him now, fingers intertwining and hovering and brushing every now and again, felt like coming home.

Edmund was the first to notice that something had changed. He saw lips brushing on cheeks and hands playing with one another and nicknames like love and darling dancing behind raised hands. His only contribution to the couple was this: finally.

Susan realized it soon after, perhaps not more quickly because of the her newfound love for everything and anything narnian. The narnian trees were "lovely" and the narnian castle was "lovely" and the narnian weather and paintings and silverware were all just "lovely". She had been so busy paying attention to the world she had almost forgotten, that she almost missed the word love written above her sister and King's heads. Almost. Her thoughts for Lucy the night she recognized it: Honestly Lu, all this talk about dying an old maid and love being for sissy's, and now here you are falling head over heels for Caspian of all people. I always said he was handsome but then I thought you weren't listening. Little did I know that all this time… Susan carried on for at least ten more minutes, and Lucy just gaped.

Peter, however, was not so excited as his sister. He found out rather unceremoniously, and Lucy always said that him walking in on Caspian kissing her neck among the shelves of the library was almost enough to excuse him for throwing books and his friends head. Peter prefered to say that they just fell out of his hands. Rather quickly. At Caspian's face. To this Caspian would say that that sounded a lot like throwing to him, and Peter tell him to watch it because he wasn't the one kissing someone's sister in a library that the sister's brother could walk into at anytime, and then Caspian would ask if Peter rathered they had been kissing in his bedroom, because that could be arranged at any time, and then Peter would splutter and seeth and Edmund would usually fall off of something in fits of laughter.

But eventually Peter came around, and often claimed that he had seen the match coming ever since the war waged against the Telmarines. It was not only Edmund that fell of of things when Peter said this.

Caspian spent a lot of time teaching himself to love Lucy outside of closed doors. Or at least, to show that he loved her, for he had been in love with her always, only being able to show it when locked away alone. And slowly he learned that he could give in to all the things he had wanted to do for so long; he stood behind her and kissed her neck when she looked out windows, he ran his hands along her arms when she wore dresses with short sleeves, he tugged fingers through her hair when she complained of knots and kissed her eyelids closed when she could not fall asleep. And he lay next to her and listened to her breathe and watched her chest rise and fall and said I love you out loud. And he called her love, perhaps his favorite thing to do besides kissing her, because he wanted her to know that she was love to him. Lucy was not different because he loved her, but because she loved him.

One night Lucy lay in Caspians arms, drawing pictures on his chest with her hand, and knew all of a sudden why they had been sent back. To fix the unfinished problems; to tie up all of the loose ends. For this was the end of the story, and another could not start once the last was finished. And it was.

A/N: It's done! Sorry it took so long (as per usual) but here it is. The last chapter. I really hope that you all enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I'm definitely going to write another, so if you all could leave prompts or ideas in comments that would be splendid. I'm thinking of doing a lot of one-shots all in one story, each one from a different prompt that you leave, but I might also do another full story, I'm not sure yet. Also, if there are any other stories or pairings or ships you'd like me to write about feel free to suggest, I just hope I know the movie or book or show that they're from. Thank you so much for following and favouriting and commenting, you're all fantastic!
